The question is what are the various people calculating doses assuming for … cesium?
I’ve seen the Japanese assume that 99% was retained [inside the reactors].
There’s an Australian study out though that shows 90% was contained. That doesn’t sound like a lot but that’s in fact 10 times more cesium the Australians are assuming than are the Japanese.

Well,…..you know what they say about "assuming". (You make an 'ass' out of UME, (you and me)!
I shall NOT assume how much cesium was released. I see no benefit in the time spent.
It's not THE CRIME that'll kill ya,……it's the COVER-UP!

What will the American people do when they find out the truth about those old leaking nuclear power plants?
What if it can be proven that the zirconium used in cladding of nuclear fuel rods is a substance that burns so explosively that it is used in pyrotechnics? What if it can be proven that when zirconium is heated to its vapor temperature, it creates an explosive reaction with cesium vapor? This has been demonstrated in the lab, according to an NOAA document: http://cameochemicals.noaa.gov/chemical/8183
US spent fuel pools are nearing capacity. Elements used to keep fuel rods from fissioning in spent fuel pools have deteriorated over time. Now, nearly all the spent fuel pools across the US are filled to capacity. No solution to store spent nuclear fuel permanently has been found, even by the 100% pro-nuke NRC.
http://www.zerohedge.com/contributed/2012-15-12/pool-near-us-city-contains-more-radioactive-cesium-released-fukushima-chernob?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+zerohedge%2Ffeed+%28zero+hedge+-+on+a+long+enough+timeline%2C+the+survival+rate+for+everyone+drops+to+zero%29
What will the American people do once they discover that each nuclear fuel rod is a zirconium/cesium bomb waiting for the right conditions to go boom? What if it is discovered that the explosions at Fukushima were not hydrogen or steam explosions, as has been claimed by the nuclear industry? What if the March of 2011 explosions were zirconium/cesium vapor?

This is all too much like focusing on what caliber of bullet is heading toward your head but hasn't hit yet.
In my mind, I take whatever TEPCO/JA govt say (bad news) and multiply it by ten.
And just the reverse if they are offering "good" news.
The idea that being off by a factor of 10 for Cs release seems a bit silly to focus on at this point of the Fuku nightmare.
Report Comment
If they're certifiably off by a factor of ten for cesium, they're off by that much for everything else. And that 'officially' raises Fukushima to Chernobyl level. Now, I always presume they're off by at least that much, for many details off by factors of ten more. Truth being that it really is "Chernobyl on steroids," but that's not something the nuclear cabals will ever actually admit out loud.
I'll take an official "bad as Chernobyl" at this point, because unless they're lucky beyond belief, it's going to get much worse. Such an admission before that occurs just might spur our erstwhile 'defenders' in government to actually do something about the dangers we face.
But I'm not holding my breath.

There is a bright spot; updated the List Of Countries/Nations Closing Down ALL Nuclear Power Plants; via A Green Road Blog
http://agreenroad.blogspot.com/2012/04/list-of-countries-closing-down-all.html
It is surprising how many countries have dropped this FUKU stuff, and how many are not interested, period.
The Big 4 are also affected. Japan, Russia, France and US.
Japan is totally shut down from 54 – 0 in one year.
1 down, 3 to go…
Hopefully it will not take ANOTHER FUKU or worse inside the Big 3 to get the big three that are left to shut them all down.
If japan can do it, so can the US and the rest.

They'll tell you shutting them all down is impracticable; that the supplemental demand for electrical energy would first have to be put in place. This is (as Japan's proving) simply more double-speak and bogus at best. They'd only have to set a one (or two) year target timeline, starting with the oldest units and move forward from there. Running concurrent to that deadline period, push for the deployment of renewable energy systems and impose incentives for the conservation of electric power use by businesses and citizenry. Within a short period, the entire economy would be stimulated by this 'war-time' effort.
We'd have to limit the amount of celebration as there still remains a massive clean-up bill that would have to be absorbed by the entire international community; developed (1st and 2nd tier level) more-so than other nations. That obligation could be carried-into the same amount of time (sixty years?) that it took us to get here. It could end up costing trillions. But it must be faced sooner than later.
So, at this point in the game, we need everyone from system's engineers to bean counters to get on board. Sadly, we no longer have a choice but to do this. It's now a matter of putting on a smiley face and getting it on…

Kurion Company claims to have removed 8.5 million Curies of radiation from Fukushima water containment areas in first year of operation at Fukushima. CEO says entire USA yearly decontamination for 104 commercial nuclear power generating plants is 500,000 Curies.
If Kurion's number is accurate, with the size of the Fukushima radioactive water containment pools, the amount of radiation is incredible. No government report confirms these levels, that I know of.
"We had removed 8.4 million curies in the first year" at Fukushima, said Raymont. Putting that into perspective, the entire U.S. nuclear fleet disposes of 500,000 curies in total, according to the CEO.
