High level of radiation exposure estimated, NHK, June 24, 2011:
A group of doctors has found that the estimated level of accumulated internal radiation exposure for people living in Fukushima Prefecture has exceeded 3 millisieverts.
The researchers, including doctors who have provided medical care to A-bomb survivors, conducted analysis on the food and urine of 15 residents in Iitate Village and Kawamata Town in Fukushima Prefecture. These areas are about 40 kilometers from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.
They estimate that residents have been internally exposed to up to 3.2 millisieverts for about 2 months, measuring from the date of the accident in March until early May. [...]

Just thought I’d add a new level of doom to the day:
v On June 21, 2011 at 1:22 universal time,
Sunspot group NOAA AR11236 Released a C7.7 X-ray solar flare.
A Halo Coronal Mass Ejection associated with that flare and a filament eruption just above the active region was observed in the SOHO C2 coronagraph field-of-view at 03:16 universal time.
It had a measured speed of 640 km/s. The NASA Goddard Space Flight Center Space Weather Lab has predicted the CME will impact the Earth around 7 UT on June 24th plus or minus 7 hours.
It is expected to produce a minor geomagnetic storm with aurora visible at high latitudes. This video shows the filament eruption and solar flare visible with the SDO AIA instrument. Also, the CME observations from SOHO C2 and C3 along with the space weather prediction are shown.

I have a feel these CME’s (Coronal mass ejections) cause earthquakes, as well as volcanic activity. by speeding and slowing the oceanic beltway, Creating seismic activity stirring the plates on earth. Aside from creating the spectacular aurora’s that they do.
This is a Aurora live in china taken (today china).

On march 10th @ 6:30 pm “UT”, A coronal Mass ejection, that was a released brushed earth. It was Unlike the CME arriving today, which is a direct hit.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrL7tjd3Vq8
The following day in Japan the 9.0 and tsunami occurred.
I feel this was a direct implication of the solar flare from march 10th…
My point:
I am in no way implying that this is a huge Threat; However,
“I feel that the coronal mass ejection hitting earth today could potentially create a 6.0 – 8.0″ Magnitude Earthquake within the next 1 -3 Days.
I hope that mainstream scientific communities take this seriously; and the proper authorities have been alerted to this.
I expect the incoming CME To effect the fault line off the Eastern coast of Honshu. (via pacific plate).
The only explanation I could give you is:
I speculate that CME’s that are earth bound, effect a collaboration of the speeds being altered in the oceanic conveyor beltway, and earths magma flow. The sudden drop or rise of deep oceanic currents and magma, hold pressure inside the earth, that creates energy.
That energy then is released through tectonic shifts, as a sort of venting…
The current solar storm could be the reason there has been such a dramatic increase in seismic activity globally. Japan alone has had thousands of “aftershocks” this year…
(6.0 aftershocks?)…

Another Asteroid To Give Earth a Close Shave June 27, 2011
June 23, 2011
A newly discovered house-sized asteroid will miss the Earth by less than 17,700 km (11,000 miles) on Monday June 27, 2011. That’s about 23 times closer than the Moon. The size and location of the asteroid, named 2011 MD, should allow observers in certain locations to take a look at the space rock, even with small telescopes. It’s closest approach will be at 13:26 UTC on June 27.
asteroid 2011 MD is estimated to be between 9 to 45 meters (10 to 50 yards) wide. Dr. Emily Baldwin, of Astronomy Now magazine, said there is no danger of the asteroid hitting Earth, and even if it did enter the atmosphere, an asteroid this size would “mostly burn up in a brilliant fireball, possibly scattering a few meteorites.”

Hi Tacomagroove,
I have been on your side of the doomishness/catastrophy-ishness from the onset. Healthy debate requires deep and heavy thought and no fear of casting ideas to capture understanding and seek potential solutions. The usa is stuck on a left/right paradigm, only two choices – not true.
I support your premise here, as I follow the Earth Expansion Theory, ie. earth is a balloon (obviously way more to it than that) but also see Vortex Based Math. Rodin’s coil = earth.

This is not GLP and you should be warned that they place things on your computer to steal your information. They practice the art of track and trace for evil gains. That is why they game play ‘spider’ weirdly the sensationalism they do so well. It’s to attract YOU, the interested seeker of truth like a moth to light and then sucks it dry of your info life-force. All this using some sort of twisted “doom” psychology that only the tavistock pointed heads find useful and all that horse excrement my dear…is nothing compared to the big picture that you have so well zeroed in on here. More kudos and support from an ancient soul that has been doing and creating in the info-wars since the early inceptions.
Stay on target…stay on target…stay on target….
And it may be said some day….the band just played on as it did in the days of nazi germany just before WW II and the sudden realization of here we are again…about to get our arses kicked like they did. Add now the environmental soup of toxicity to the chaos. Will that be little radiation with your lime in the coconut?
The really ingenious crazy part of it all? The American people are paying for their own demise in the coming world war.

I have to say I agree with tacomagroove, not in the sense that she has everything right (how would I know anyway, I am not a physicist or scientist), but that she has a sense, as a lot of us do, that the world is in a very shaky, vulnerable place right now, and it wouldn’t take much for something to happen to cause a major collapse.
Something like a large solar flare may have caused a few problems many years ago, but now with the world relying so heavily on technology, it could cause huge power outages covering large areas for indefinite amounts of time…imagine what that would do to nuclear power plants all over the country/world?
The weather changes are already causing huge damage across the country; i hadn’t even considered how that would affect nuclear plants, but obviously it can.
We have all heard about how infrastructure all over the country is old and badly in need of repair…we are obviously unprepared for things that could happen, just as fukushima was.
And now there are more people on the planet than ever before, so any disaxter will likely affect many more people than in the past. Tacomagroove’s example of the difficulty of evacuating Japan is a good example.
Many societies in the past have been wiped out; it can happen again.

Japan’s toxic trials
“Their Faustian explanation: to avoid releasing water of even higher levels of radiation into the ocean, we must first dump water with lower radioactivity.”
“The sad truth that has emerged in my research of the role of cesium-137 in Chernobyl, however, is the fact that daily industrial toxins play a far greater role than radiation in the contamination of nonhuman and human bodies and environments.”
“Usually people visualise the food chain with a generic man at the top, but Sandra Steingraber illustrates in her book Having Faith: an Ecologist’s Journey to Motherhood that it is not a ‘man’ but a fetus that is the final resting place for Earth’s toxins. The placenta magnifies the level of toxins admitted to the fetus.”
“Other common food sources that raise concerns about toxins in the food supply are fish and seaweed, which can concentrate radioactive elements as they grow, leading to levels that are higher than in the surrounding water. Toxic substances can concentrate in higher levels in water than on land because food chains tend to be longer there.”
“On average, breastfed infants in industrialised countries ingest each day 50 times more PCBs per pound of body weight than do their parents.”
“Japan’s government also insists that it is not in immediate violation of international law by discharging radioactive water into the sea either under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, designed to protect and preserve marine life, and the Convention of Early Notification of a Nuclear Accident.”

Toxic Cloud Wraps Around Japan
The latest Forecast from ZAMG is not looking pleasant. The map shows the Toxic Cloud of Death wrapping around the base of Japan, blanketing the whole country then moving over South Korea and back up over the north of Japan. With the radionuclides being dispersed from the “fizzle” explosions at the Fukushima complex including Pu-239, U-235, Cesium-167 and Iodine-131 this is a complete catastrophe of unprecedented scale and risk to human life unfolding as we watch.
The Toxic clouds pumping out of the facility are caused by low grade “conventional” explosions in the order of 2000 pounds of TNT. They are happening constantly like a mouth full of fizzer. As the molten cores descend into the mantle they vaporise and incinerate anything in their path turning them into highly toxic gases and particulates. The Toxic cloud is then emitted through the chimney’s that have been created by the process of descent. This Toxic plume is then dispersed in the surrounding area, water table, Ocean and Atmosphere. The ocean currents and the wind patterns of the Northern Pacific disperse the cloud plume across the globe.
We are seeing a disaster on an unprecedented scale. The loss of life in Japan and now Korea too is going to be severe beyond anything we have ever witnessed before.

“Synergy is an important issue that is mostly disregarded by the FDA. Many will even debunk the idea that low dose synergy is real. In combination with other commonly used products, the toxicity of the migratory chemicals from plastics can be potentiated by synergy. A synergy can occur between two or more chemicals that elevate the combination’s toxicity to hundreds of times greater than that of the individual chemicals. Besides plastics, other household chemicals can be part of a synergy with plastics.
“Nuclear radiation can also severely damage the endocrine system. According to Dr. Ernest Sternglass, Professor Emeritus of Radiological Physics at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School, the synergy between nuclear radiation and chemical toxicants is well documented.”

Has anyone read Strieber’s “The Master of The Key a True Encounter”?
Interesting book. A couple of things, that the very intelligent “visitor” had to say:
Secrecy is killing the earth (and therefore us)
and that “Entropy is the natural tendency of all things to disintegrate. Evil is the addition of intention to that process.”
And that time is short but if we collectively try to change things there is hope. “Between now and then (the end), mass prayer can be used to change the world. It isn’t necessary to pray the same words or to the same god. But only to raise your voices.” Action and compassion are needed. And about consumption: “After the suffering you are about to endure, mankind will never again lust after material wealth. You are about to suffocate in your own garbage.” Facts are not always the truth. When one dies or starves-we all die and starve. We are all responsible for each other.

@ Remainindoors. I’m not a knowitall… I only recently woke up when I noticed a teeny snippet of buried news on google news by accident saying 3 complete meltdowns had occurred. I spend most of my time very far away from civilzation, media and the internet. Think squat toilets and no running water or electricity and people surviving on $1 a day. I think about those people a lot when I read enenews. They probably don’t even know there’s been a tsunami in Japan yet they rely on fish that will be highly contaminated from Fukushima. Fish is their only source of protein. I’ve seen children die of malaria because their parents can’t even afford $5 to get them to hospital. Looking at the currents, it looks like the radiation will head straight the more remote parts of to Indonesia where these people live.
What is going to happen to these people? Nobody gives a shit… they don’t matter. Only rich people matter.
I prefer to base my beliefs on facts (well what few facts we can get) and using my own brain to draw conclusions rather than being hold how to react.
I’m pretty pessimistic BTW. All the signs are pointing to Tepco fucking off and leaving nature to clean things up for free.
I am truly shocked by the way American friends I’ve talked to about this have reacted by saying OMG I need to readjust my stock market investments. Even a doctor had this kind of reaction….me me me.

Japanese ocean radiation 7,500,000 times legal limit
Tuesday, April 5th, 2011
According to the LA Times, though the accompanying picture is somewhat misleading: that fish is not dead from radiation exposure, it’s dead because it’s at a freaking fish market. That’s actually a sign of recovery. Go figure.
My question is, what does 7.5 million times legal limits actually mean?
http://www.gamerswithjobs.com/node/108042
Gundersen news *VIDEO*
Tepco admitted that the level was 7.5 million times higher than the legal limit. CNN host makes lame comparison of amount of radioactive water released to the amount of water in the ocean without reporting the astronomical high concentration.

You just cant leave the net for a day, without coming back to reading the latest tepco bloopers…
Some days I swear, a mushroom cloud could be rising over fukushima, workers would be falling randomly unconscious, and helicopters would be crashing into buildings, and Tepco would still state: “We are making progress”…
Wait that already happened today…

You are comparing a fully researched event, with nearly complete radionuclide disclosures and long under control with an ongoing horror show, marked by periodic revisions of releases by TEPCO and the Japanese government. And if you check just yesterday’s posts, you see even the politicized and ineffective IAEA accuses Japan of withholding necessary data.
Ten years from now you might be able to logically compare them. And even if the 3msv is correct – IT’S INTERNAL – not a measurement of the sidewalk. Would you eat some lettuce with 3msv of cesium on it? AND – it’s not over. It’s not over. Got it?

Then what?

I dont think blackouts are an option. All in all, nuclear power supplies only about 15% of the worlds electrical consumption and there is tons of companies with capacity to fill that up with natural gas and similar.
We could easily shut down all of the world nuclear plants if people and companies would reduce their electricity bills by 15%.
Report Comment
Very well put succinctly. I was saying these things until I realised that we are all living in the framework of the modern whose motto is maximising sales even to the effect that the efficiency of final delivered goods and services becomes negative! There is no pure reasoning in the modern ways. Otherwise they would not have had nukes and other negative deliveries in the first place. So me must change tracks and go normal which means the bottomline is to adhere to being good in thought word and deed. Like you said.
Report Comment
If we used wind, solar, and geothermal we could move than cut down by 15%, and no one would be injured and we’d be more self-sufficient.
Report Comment
Absolutely! I buy my electricity at home from a 100% nuke-free supplier (not only the energy is produced nuke-free, but the supplier also has no whatsoever relations to the nuclear industry).

CPM to Sieverts
CUT AND PASTE FROM YOUTUBE
(user: antiprotons)
“Remember, CPM does not scale to sieverts at a fixed rate for anything but the originally calibrated source. If you were calibrated for Cs137, than you tested uranium and read 200 CPM, it would not actually be 2 uSv/hr. (more like 8). CPM does not account for energy. Sieverts account for energy, mass, and time.”
Report Comment
@Pu239
EXCELLENT!
Your explanation is exactly what I have ranted about a number of times here.
It is herding cats to get the point across about the difference between rate and quantity. Let alone the subtlety of equivalent dose.
I struggle with how to trust media sources that report Sieverts as though it were a finite amount….like the idea that could be Sieverts in something or some one.
The CPM clarification is a very good point. Thank you.

Anyone feel like doing a summary of all the reactors? I’m losing track.
Start with the Executive Summary. Wrap it up with a summary[?].
Executive Summary:
The world is in grave danger.
#1: melt-through
#2: melt-through
#3: melt-through
#4: no core? crack in SFP-water leaking; bldg leaning, may fall.
#5:
#6:
Summary
The world is in grave danger.
Oceans: radioactive; radiation magnifies in fish and seaweed.
Chernobyl-still active. Millions affected.
Long-term: bio-accumulation, increased leukemias, cancers, deformed fetuses, increase baby deaths, genetic damage. Food destroyed.
Ft Calhoun and Cooper: flooded?
I guess it would go into more pages ….
Solution: Attack Libya, shut down radiation monitors, increase austerity measures, deflect news to Lindsay Lohan and buy more reactors.

All other comments removed…zerohedge censoring!! Bugger better go long on uranium then…..mon amis je want shares!! I love Canadian nuke universities (bet they test there own food and drink and air and stuff )…go long Canadian nuke research universities….or you Canadians could write to these universities and inquire as to why they don’t test stuff!!…and copies of the letters and any statutory replies you receive could be used for future litigation, when people wizen up..maybe!!…
oh yeah back on topic..why would discussing sfp4 be an issue that the mighty zero hedge has to censor!!! tres confusing, non??

I have noticed a lot of cancer and the causes stories of late? None pin point any radiation as a cause? Yet here in australia they had an on going ad for as long as I can remember about the suns radiation being the cause of skin cancers.”Slip, slop, slap” and “there is nothing healthy about a tan” ads. Strange enough all the ads stopped after fukushima? Hmmmm… A tan must be healthy again. Bring on that radiation baby!

I absolutely agree with you – we want facts. Problem: there aren’t any (or – not enough). I get also annoyed by some ramblings here and there – but, aggressing people gets us nowhere.
Peace.

What he is referring to is, “Slip” (protective clothes) “Slop” (on some sunscreen) “Slap” (on a hat). By not running these ads that remind people how to avoid skin cancer people may forget and thus cancer increases and can’t be pinned on fallout.
That is his point.

Good old NHK has published some of the readings…
“Six locations, including a park in a municipal housing complex, registered radiation levels of over 3.4 microsieverts per hour when measured one meter above ground. This exceeds the prefecture’s threshold for re-checking.
Radiation of over two microsieverts per hour was recorded at 182 sites.
The city said that it re-checked the six sites on Friday, and all locations registered lower radiation.
But the city intends to restrict use of the park in the public housing complex, where radiation of 4.15 microsieverts per hour, which exceeds the central government’s limit of 3.8 microsieverts for a park, was recorded 50 centimeters above the ground.”
They don’t mention the highest reading in that text but you can see it on the map in the link… 6.65mSv.
http://www3.nhk.or.jp/daily/english/society.html
Someone should tell the parents to demand readings at 0cm too. What’s the rationale behind taking measurements at 1m, 50cm and 5cm? Pseudo scientific BS!
If you want to protect the children then take measurements where radiation levels are likely to be highest ie RIGHT ON THE GROUND…especially important in parks where kids play and in schools.

Of course it cannot be a disaster. As you know, Dr. Yamashita has finally spilled the great secret of radiation – your attitude affects how you process radiation. Therefore, anyone who ever got sick from radiation had only themselves to blame.
Think that’s crap? Me too. And that is the kind of ‘facts’ that have been released from Japan so far, that man tells those lies to the citizens who pay him. And he hangs dosimeters on their kids.
The facts of Chernobyl are known. Day by day we come to know the lies that have already been told of Fukushima. The polite Japanese word is ‘revision’ of some measurement. Give it a decade and then compare. And remember, it’s not over.

Your pity is welcome, but better left for the perpetrators of the nuclear calamity when they come to be judged. Hopefully your turn will not have come when you offer to speak up in their defence.

The policy is based on the assumption that residents near disposal sites will be exposed to less than 10 microsieverts of radiation a year.
The ministry will allow local governments to bury burned rubble containing less than 8,000 becquerels of radioactive cesium per kilogram of rubble at waterproof final disposal sites for ordinary waste. However, the ministry will ban such disposal sites from being converted to residential areas in the future.
