Three Boiling Water Reactors, all now in cold shutdown. They were actually closest to the earthquake on 3/11.
Onagawa did sustain flooding in one reactor(?), but their seawall was significantly higher than Fukushima:

This morning I dropped my sister Ree off at Dulles airport, DC. She is flying back to her home in Tokyo suburb. She was setting my niece up for freshman year @ college in MD. Last thing I said was to check out this site.
We had a great visit. Talked a little about the situation, mostly just how the media/tepgov isn't being perfectly honest. Hope she drops by here. Told her kinda what to expect, how commenters will have a much different view than she's probably heard.
Couldn't bring myself to be all doom and gloom. 2 of her 4 kids still there, with her husband. Heavy heart. Shoulda-coulda
said more? I'm no expert. Never would've found this oasis if it wasn't for her. Anything I know, you guys taught me. Woulda been lulled to sleep with MSM lullabys like the rest.
Overwhelmed w/mixed emotions. Shame for not being more alarmist mostly, after love. How do you say, "everything you eat/drink/breathe is suspect"? As a new comer to all issues nuclear…i am left with amateurish attempts at sending protective prayers. Join me if you will, especially for Mary, 17? and Andrew, 8.
