You know, this is becoming almost comical. It sure seems like the proportions of things are biblical.

is under evacuation orders.

Jeremiah 9:15
Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will feed them, [even] this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink.
–
–21For death has come up through our windows;
It has entered our palaces
To cut off the children from the streets,
The young men from the town squares.
22Speak, “Thus says the LORD,
‘The corpses of men will fall like dung on the open field,
And like the sheaf after the reaper,
But no one will gather them.’”
23Thus says the LORD, “Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; 24but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things,” declares the LORD.
25“Behold, the days are coming,” declares the LORD, “that I will punish all who are circumcised and yet uncircumcised— 26Egypt and Judah, and Edom and the sons of Ammon, and Moab and all those inhabiting the desert who clip the hair on their temples; for all the nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised of heart.”
…………….BIBLICAL Indeed, Calimom!

@Elenin
The Laboratory is a site of some 40 square miles, only a small area of which is developed with what we think of as laboratory buildings.
So there is no conflict between the fire having crossed onto the Laboratory site while remaining miles from the laboratory complex.
The worry is what substances have been disbursed on all that acreage during the development of atomic power and weapons, and will they be released from the ground or vegetation by fire, suppression activities or wind.

“The lab, which employs about 15,000 people, covers more than 36 square miles and includes about 2,000 buildings at nearly four dozen sites or “technical areas.” Those include research facilities as well as waste disposal sites.”

Those of us who’ve lived nearby to the
Federal District of Los Alamos have gathered bits of
historical knowledge about the place. Back in the Old Days,
but still well within the times “They shoulda Known Better”,
it was fairly routine to Bury small amounts of hot waste in
Coffee Cans around the outer reaches of the woodlands
on the base. Water and air releases are documented.
The burning woods are releasing the 65-years worth of
whatever they absorbed in their growing. Pine, fir, spruce,
juniper, Pinyon needles and fallen twigs, branches on
the ground contain years of crap, no going into the air.
Yay! Maybe I can getta easy GubMint Job!

As posted to HP, a local said after the last fire there, they were told not to worry. But the people from the lab were all wearing masks.
Remember this is a “lab”. Who knows what might be stored in 2000+ buildings and in/on the land since the Manhatten Project.
