Treating Acute Radiation Sickness with Mesenchymal Stromal Stem Cells
William R. Prather RPh, MD, Senior VP Corporate Development; Pluristem Therapeutics, Haifa, Israel
Drug Discovery & Development – June 22, 2011
The recent nuclear crisis in Japan has highlighted the urgent need to develop products for the treatment of acute radiation sickness (ARS) and radiation exposure.
Acute radiation sickness (ARS)—also known as radiation poisoning—occurs after accidental radiologic or nuclear exposure to a high dose of radiation over a short period of time. The U.S. unit of measurement for a radiation dose is the rem (roentgen equivalent in man) and most people in the United.States receive approximately 0.25 rem per year from normal background radiation. Flying for 12 hours at 39,000 feet exposes a person to approximately 0.006 rem, while a mammogram exposes patients to approximately 0.3 rem.
The onset and types of symptoms…

Did a search using the [faulty?] search box above:
nothing.
No moonkai. Which would mean she[he] hasn’t posted at all on enenews.com [?]
But, I think he/she has posted here.

Maybe I missed spelled the name. Moonaki? Anyway, he lives in Japan and has posted here. TY
Report Comment
Nope. Not under that either. Dang..hope he’s ok. He posted once at HP – I’ll try to find it to get correct spelling
Report Comment
It is moonkai:

Punching in “moon” should have picked up “moonkai”.
It didn’t pick up anything under “moon” either, and I know we talked about that (in the video).

Thanks. So I guess the last we heard from him was the 20th.

I find the search limiting itself to articles, not comments. To find a commenter I go to a likely article, open the comments and do a CTRL-F — time consuming. Alternatively you can Google two terms together:

We haven’t heard from “pAnIc” living far outside Tokyo for weeks either! I hope he’s ok! He measured unexpected hotspots near daycare facilities south of Tokyo last month…grim!

Handy Tip
If you want to find something on enenews.com use Google search–unless the better one I don’t know about.

Hi there … I am fine thank you! I actually will continue that little diary (that i called NUKUSHIMA MON AMOUR) until I actually leave Tokyo … If I ever do!
For those that wish to follow, I will number those posts so it may be easier to follow ! I will repost the whole thing on the latest thread … then I will posts future comments in the weekly general thread !!
It is actually fun for me to do and is somewhat of a stress release.

Radiation Unit Converter
http://online.unitconverterpro.com/unit-conversion/convert-group/convert.php?cat=radiation—dose-equivalent
So, micro to milli, and calculating a yearly dose:
81 µSv/hr = 0.081 mSv/hr
365.25 day/year x 24 h/day = 8766 h/y
0.081 mSv/h x 8766 h/y = 710.05 mSv/y
Compare to safe limit of 1 mSv/year.
[Do I have this right?]
Report Comment
Yes – exactly like my calculation. Terrible dose.

There is compelling evidence, that Fukushima City needs to be evacuated, and all smaller towns in between. How do you evacuate 2+ million of people? It is going to be interesting.
Report Comment
TraderGreg, I hink you’re right. The first time I saw the “people’s map” created by volunteers,
http://www.nnistar.com/gmap/fukushima.html
I thought that all the areas marked yellow would need to be evacuated. And nobody knows how these areas will develop, as the nasty Fuku releases go on and on and on and on….

You can’t. Therefore you don’t, and you follow the rules of Fukushima:
Rule one of Fukushima Club: You do not talk about Fukushima Club. Rule two of Fukushima Club: You DO NOT TALK about Fukushima Club.

terrible dose… externally… (ct scan)
how many fuel fleas are in the owner of that geiger’s nostrils?
81micros ambient from inhalable/ingestable radioactive particles (many of which have settled onto the ground but some of which are surely in the air) seems a certain death sentence.
Report Comment
@PU239: Yes, you have that right. And using the “collective dose” model it is very fast to work out the percentage of people expected to die every year from this level of radiation exposure (if they are exposed to this level of 81 uSv/hr as an average over the course of a whole year):
* 6,000 mSv (6 Sieverts) is a 100% lethal dose
* 710 mSv/year/person radiation “dose”
* 710 /6,000 = 1 / 8.45 (11.8%)
Thus, about 2 in every 17 people are expected to die every year in a population that is exposed to 710 mSv/year. A phenomenal statistic.
Also, I posted some extra info about the 1 mSv/year radiation limit and “background” radiation dose in response to a comment you put on an article yesterday (only saw this article today):

thats my point exactly. They arent evacuating, because that would mean parts of tokyo would need to evacuate… and how do you attempt to evacuate 136 million people… If they did it by plane it would take several years (with every plane on the planet to boot)…
They aren’t evacuating… on the sure fact that it is very likely impossible…
SO its really up to the japanese to pull together their assets and move without government support / intervention… Being the pm quit, Id ask myself real hard… If hes leaving… shouldn’t I…

Oboy – The latest round of tests with the Areva/Kurion water decontamination system are failing epically
What happened? Kurion, in particular, is probably getting an earful from Tepco right about now. This development is on the heels of Kurion’s cartridge fail, where each one maxed out after just 5 hours of operation vs the one month time-frame they had earlier pitched to Tepco.

thats the point… there is not enough money or power for the gov to bail japan out… Everyone knows this but no one is saying it…
They (the japanese cabinet)… “should at least explain in full detail how screwed the citizens of japan are”
(all of japan)…
Timing is everything… my guess is that:
Once the Japanese gov, admits the extent of the damage to japan. “The entire nation of japan” will be marooned. in a nuclear wasteland, with no assets as they all are already contaminated…
Thats what they are trying to protect their citizens from by delaying the release of information…

The Japanese Government (and all governments) wants to keep the public asleep, not only to lead them quietly to the slaughter, but to drain them of the only resource they value, THEIR MONEY.
They know that if the sleeping population was aware of the serious condition that they are in, then they would stop spending their money on USELESS JUNK. No more IPad sales, no need for the latest fashion statements, etc. This would hurt the blood sucking corporations at their core, and bring down their false economy.
Since being exposed to the info on this board, I have only purchased those items that will enable long term survival (if that is even possible.) It’s amazing just how much money you can save when you concentrate on the necessities of life.

in banks and in the hands of private people.

All of Japan will be too contaminated with no one allowed
to leave. The japanese have sealed their fate with reliance on
nuclear energy. The USA is not too far behind. Our corn
belt and major cities Omaha and St Louis are in direct threat
IFf the Nebraska plants are inundated by flood waters and
cooling systems cannot be restored soon enough.
The disconnect is truly alarming. The schizoid dissociative
denial going on is truly amazing. There should be mass
hysteria and uprisings rather than ZOMBIE SLEEP WALKING.
All nuclear installation in USA must be shut down ASAP!!!!

Great idea Arclight! I am presently making up ‘radiation kits’ for my friends and loved ones—I’d imagine there is going to be BIG business there for anyone able to ‘produce’ such a thing, Yes? I am not able to do more than a few–and most of my ‘peeps’ will most likely put it on a shelf and never take them. My roommate actually said she doesn’t care if she ingests radiation and/or dies of cancer–”When it’s my time, it’s my time”. Yeah, well, HOW we die is still somewhat within our reach to soften, if nothing else. Boy, talk about react in haste–repent in leisure. And to KNOW that you did NOTHING to save yourself. “It is then that people will know that there was a profit among them”.

The headline to this article should really be, ‘Japanese Government Decides on Solution for Fukushima Radiation – Spread It Around’
New Policy on Radioactive Tainted Sludge
http://www.asahi.com/english/TKY201106220153.html
Spread it in the air – check, spread it in the ocean – check, spread it in the soil – check, put it in your buildings – check. This is taking the old phrase, “The solution to pollution is dilution” to whole new level.
