Title: Fukushima Leak Dumps Radioactive Water Into Ocean
Source: ABC World News
Date: September 1, 2013

Highly radioactive water leaking from storage tank into Pacific at dangerous speed

David Muir, ABC World News: Authorities on the West Coast tonight also concerned with the stunning headline out of Japan. Today, they revealed radioactive levels at the crippled Fukushima power plant are now higher than first thought, much higher […] What does that mean for the 72,000 gallons of water pouring out every day and headed our way, so much debris arriving already? […]

Aditi Roy, ABC News Los Angeles: […] There are fears that the contaminated water could reach the U.S. in less than a year. Some debris has already made its way to the West Coast. Battered fishing boats, appliances and other garbage — even fish. Researchers who have been monitoring the water say the radioactive material will be diluted enough to safe levelsgood news for those who love coming here to the beach.

It is already there sea life dying radiation samples show radiation in kelp and other areas along the coast line seems the Media has been asleep and is 2 years behind

    • hbjon hbjon

Sea life that consumes and absorbs Fuku fuel will inevitably perish from the earth. I have a plan, but it won't be easy to implement. Here is a quick summary. Call in all the fishing vessels that sail the Pacific Sewer. Employ the fishermen in a new industry that produces clean agriculture such as greenhouse gardening and farm raised catfish. Let the radiation settle for 20 years. It has been predicted that all the larger sea life will bioaccumulate the isotopes and perish. Their corpse will sink to the bottom and in time, settle beneath the topsoil and sand. The beaches of west coast North America must be off limits because massive quantities will wash up there and will be contaminated. In twenty years open the ocean to fishing, legal limit and size will be 10 per day and nothing over 5 pounds. By then, smaller fish will have less radioactive contamination.

TEST for RADIATION before making media announcements, ABC! West Coast USA needs to test, to know the levels, even minor levels need to be added to the mix of background radiation.

What we eat safely for the Pacific ocean is going to become difficult. After personal use of geiger counters, seafood testing shows up to be complicated, you don't just wave a wand, takes very expensive equipment and probably a containment of product for a period of time. Its just not something you can wave a geiger counter wand over to be sure…. And you dont just TRUST Japanese officials to do testing for US consumers for imports.

72000 gal / day / 24 / 60 = 50 gal / min. TEPCO could buy a larger pump at WW Granger. Who are these idiots trying to fool. TEPCO is loosing way more water than this.

Thats funny Radiation gets diluted? How does that happen? Once its on a fish, human, seaweed, boat, wood, it just disintegrates over a year. That's a good one.
FUKUSHIMA: Pacific Ocean Will Not Dilute Dumped Radioactive Water

    • nedlifromvermont

Mr. Canuck … the ocean will dilute the radioactive water … but the biota in the ocean will re-concentrate it, as was known from the Oak Creek waste pond studies … they knew this, and it is why they insisted they would/could isolate the contaminants from the biosphere, and this was a lie … a MONSTROUS LIE … it was a similar lie to Hitler's rants about Jews not being the same species as Homo sapiens sapiens … and now we pay the piper for sucking down these lies, for years, like the tainted Kool-Aid at Jonestown, Guyana …

Thanks (for this mess) be to GE (and to their co-conspirators, everywhere …)

      peace …

  • nedlifromvermont

"Good news for people who love coming here to the beach" ???

Oh well, if you like lies for breakfast and dissembling for lunch, you'll just love the new 'radioactive normal".

And you can get a job with GE, as long as you can smile when you lie to people, like Ronnie Reagan. Then you can become a GE manager, as long as you keep lying and smiling, and sending people to an early grave, heck, you can even run the company.

A whole, new meaning for "Mourning in America" …

peace folks … hang in there … the sea is not boiling, it is only steaming … and radioactive micro-particles have no flavor or stench … manufactured in the USA by General Electric … whose CEO in the 1970's admitted that GE was not being "wholly altruistic" in developing atomic power (they booked six times the profit from a nuke plant as from a regular thermal plant)

Adam Smith is repealed as in "personal choices result in the greatest good for the greatest number …" Capitalism's greatest failure: allowing private companies to profit from the uranium business … has initiated the end game … the "final solution" for the population problem … the angry chickens have come home to roost ….

    O weh, o weh ….

peace to the 'newsers … hug somebody today like you mean it …

oh yeah … and boycott all things GE, those nasty devils …

It won't be safe for those within a couple of kilometers from the coast because of the aerosol effect that will blow the contaminants that get airborne right into the peoples' lungs. That level will be well above the safety limits.

Contaminated seashore sand will blow in the wind currents for thousands of miles, but it will be concentrated west of the American major mountain ranges. Illinois is not a good option. We have the most nuclear reactors and stored nuclear waste from reactors of any state in the USA. Plus Obama's administration wants Centralized Interim Storage (CIS) of nuclear waste. Guess what state is on the very short list for that? Illinois, centrally located, lots of train lines and we could just add to our pile of waste that nobody knows what to do with, over 70 years worth since the first splitting of the atom at the University of Chicago. Go South-Faulkland Islands.

Notice the names of the researchers or where they're from (probably Berkeley) are not mentioned.

NO AMOUNT of radiation above normal background is safe.
    (Google BEIR VII report.)
This is what really needs *repeating by the media and everyone.

    IMO –
"diluted to safe levels" = Not enough to make you sick or kill you right away = No immediate concern

Dilution is NOT a solution. It only spreads and accumulates.

There is also never a mention how these 'so called' low levels of radiation contamination might affect other life forms and ecosystems which in turn will affect us.

*NO AMOUNT of radiation above normal background is safe!!!

    • mairs mairs

Berkeley is unbelievable. I have to go back and find that professor's name who is quoted by Snopes as saying, no matter what happens at Fukushima, it won't affect the US. How can anyone believe such a bald-faced lie.

      • bo bo

Everybody is believing him it seems like… whenever I talk to friends about avoiding seafood or being wary of beach vacations in the pacific… they all chorus: 'dilution !'

        Why are people so simple…
And they all point to me as the 'naive' one that believes information from 'fear mongering type websites'.

        • enoughalready45 enoughalready45

Use the example of mercury contamination. It bioaccumulates too and people are more familiar with the idea of mercury contaminated fish, that the Mercury doesn't dilute in the water. They just never really thought about it because there was no propaganda machine talking about mercury dilution.

  • Holygeezer

If the "Authorities" are only aware of this stunning news now, then they are completely worthless entities. Anyone with a basically functioning brain would have some idea how bad this situation was from day one. Everyone is on their own for the most part. No governmental agency or authority has any intelligence when it comes to these matters. Unfortunately it seems that those folks who do possess some form of intelligence with be wiped out along with the rest.

Except that radiation is spread in a straight line with relatively little dilution due to the Pacific currents.

  • razzz razzz

Fallout is not your imagination, been found in down-winders of bomb testing and nuke plants.

"The study grew out of Dr. Jay Gould's research, The Enemy Within: The High Cost of Living Near Nuclear Reactors, which found that women living in counties within 100 miles of nuclear reactor are at the greatest risk of dying of breast cancer.

An earlier study showed that radioactivity in baby teeth rose rapidly due to fallout from atomic bomb tests above the Nevada desert in the 1950s and 1960s, a time when childhood cancer rates were also rising. This information was instrumental in the 1963 ban of aboveground tests by the United States and Soviet Union. The federal government withdrew finding for the study in 1970, and no longer collects information on how much radioactivity is entering our bodies.

Specifically, the Baby Teeth study measures levels of radioactive Strontium-90 (Sr-90), a known carcinogen released by nuclear facilities. The chemical structure of Sr90 is so similar to that of calcium that the body gets fooled and deposits Sr-90 in the bones and teeth, where it remains continually emitting cancer-causing radiation. During pregnancy, Sr-90 is transferred from the mother to the fetus and ends up in the baby's teeth and bones, at the time of birth. To determine where radioactivity was absorbed from the environment, we need to know where the mother lived during pregnancy and where the baby was born."

  • The last 2 weeks we have seen all kinds of 'experts' coming out of the woodwork…from physicians, nuclear industry experts, health officials, and universities who suddenly want to talk about how bad Fukushima is…but still play down the seriousness of the situation. Here, for example, a commentator on ABC news states that radiation will be diluted when the tens of thousands of tons of trash hit the west coast beaches. That doesn't follow with what we know about radiation in the ocean from studies done as far back as 1955. DO NOT BELIEVE THESE LYING POS PEOPLE. They either have no clue what they are talking about, or they are deliberately trying to mislead you. The contamination is going to be EPIC. The amount is going to be EPIC. The beaches will have to be closed down, and they are keeping this from people.

  • This is just ONE ASPECT of this disaster, and it's not even the worst one. The real kicker is this guy says at the end "Researchers who have been monitoring the water say the radioactive material will be diluted enough to safe levels β€” good news for those who love coming here to the beach." Bahahaha! I want to see results from an independent lab that have been done over MONTHS and HUNDREDS OF MILES OUT before I believe anything any PAID INDUSTRY RESEARCHER has to say. Get ready for the 'baffled' 'shocked' and 'stunned' reactions when they found out how bad it really is…or when they (fake) admit to it.

and here's a video I did of this almost 2 years ago about this:

  • Approximately 200,000 houses and businesses were washed out to sea during the tsunami that hit Japan. The debris field is estimated to be about roughly the size of Texas or California. What we have seen so far is just the first wave, just the leading edge. There is much, much more behind it, and it’s going to be horrendous to manage.

Gas stations, propane refueling centers, fertilizer production plants, oil refineries, biological and disease research centers, furniture, storage containers, military facilities, cars, motorcycles, and garbage. We are talking Hazmat stuff here, biological and environmental waste…Thousands of Japanese were washed out to sea with the tsunami, and are still unaccounted for.

Yeah, great news for people who love to go to the beach, huh?

In the early days of 311(still IS "early"!)-the UCB BRAWM website "was" one of few resources that "seemed" credible & worth visiting & interacting with their experts & visitors in the forum associated with the nuclear disaster. Suddenly they did an about face just like, and at almost the same time as the Huff Post & others "sold out". I don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure out that most of the so-called "experts" who are now or again changing their tune to describe the aftermath & current/future impact(s) as dire-but they can't be trusted and NOTHING they'd have to say short of denouncing the technology & industry that IS their bread & butter and needs to be shutdown & PROPER steps taken immediately to contain materials posing the same threats across the globe as well as an all-out assault on Fukushima aimed at curbing the emissions & further release events AT ALL COSTS! The same UCB voices now describing the serious nature of this potential ELE were responding to the public's concern & questions would still be responding with banana's & airplane flight's & "normal or naturally-occurring"EXTERNAL radiation sources & human tolerance to it if there weren't so many other respected scientists & researchers currently being more honest about the issue & event(s) following the spotlight shining so brightly on Fukushima FINALLY! UCB/BRAWM will NEVER be considered a credible or worthy resource again IMHO since they've proven they can't be trusted!

Here is something that you gotta see. We all know that radiation is coming over from fuku via ocean and Jetstream. We also know that Canada has been getting hit especially hard in places from this. The reporter in this article link says that these strange noises in video below were electromagnetic and that they were emitted from auroras and radiation belts as theorized by her source mentioned. Never heard of a radiation belt. Is that like a mass of radioactive atmosphere floating around like a cloud? Could this noise in Canada actually be fuku screaming her warnings of whats to come?
