Introductory statement by the former clean-up worker, Tetsuya Hayashi:

On August 24, I, together with “Haken Union,” sent a written proposal to TEPCO, which is undertaking the cleanup work at Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant (F1), and its seven subcontractors simultaneously. I worked at F1 as a nuclear worker since this June, participating in part of the clean-up operation. What I witnessed was the reality of various acts of dishonesty and kickbacks conducted in the multi-layer subcontracting system. A group of lay people with no knowledge or experience of working with radiation, including minors ages 18 to 19, were sent in to the work site without adequate training and with a false statement of work experience and low wages.

The clean-up work at Fukushima Dai-chi will continue for many tens of years from now on. Without workers on site, there will be no end to the accident. Nevertheless, the disposable nature of the scheme involving the on-site clean-up workers is too absurd and careless. Who is protecting the rights of the workers? If we don’t change that now, children who will be born from now on will have to deal with the hotbed of this injustice. This is a videotaped record of the proof of injustice over a two-month period. I will file a complaint with my real name, Tetsuya Hayashi, hoping for an end to the accident as early as possible.

Thank you…Hip Hip Hooray, Tetsuya Hayashi. The world needs more people like you with the courage to do what is rigtheous. Then we might be able to survive. And with company, you would be safer. But, as my friend, Daniel Ellsberg says, personal safety is not the issue.

  • Sickputer

He is wise to seek broader news coverage. Twenty years ago the main stream media might not have been a big enough shield to protect a whistleblower.

He may become a voice for the nuclear resistance program, but the real question is can he find meaningful employment in Japan?

    Best wishes for his future.

he'll want for nothing SP. As the people of Japan have awakened, his efforts will be seen for what they are: courageous and caring. The people will stand by him…

The people engaged in the Battle for Truth in Japan need to embrace this man and his proof. He is the real deal proven by his own initiative, bravery and strength.

    Great video

Japan's people have N☢ say in how their Government deals with Nuclear issues!

They now live in a Nuclear Police State!

    • moonshellblue moonshellblue

So do Americans, as we also have no say in issues dealing with Nuclear Power, as I for one would vote to shut down at least all Mark one BWR's and if possible all reactors and replace them with tidal, wind and solar. NO NUKES

Look how they are lied to about radiation exposure! —>

"They are told by one of the subcontractors that the exposure dose isn’t cumulative and even if they are exposed to 1 mSv of radiation a day, it will be halved daily, reaching zero in 8 days."

Is there an English translation for the video?

I have been thinking of StillJill recently and had to comment,

of concern and interest in the well being among us.

I hope the many (intelligent & informed) here

WTH is Greenpeace and all their tree huggers?

Where are all the "Save the Children" celebrities?

You do know, there's a complete media blackout in mainstream media. We can't blame people for not acting on what they don't know. In time, more of what we're facing today will be known by others…tomorrow. Be patient, as truth can be hidden for only so long…

    • AGreenRoad AGreenRoad

Greenpeace is the ONLY reason why TEPCO did much of the radiation testing and reporting that it is still doing up to today, as bad as it is.

If not for Greenpeace, the situation would be much, much worse.

If not for the Green party in Germany, it would still be pro nuke, and building new nuclear power plants. Instead, Germany now is on the path to shutting down all nuke plants.

The same types of things have happened in the past in the USA, and are still happening today at many nuke facilities… This is NOT just a problem in Japan.

If you want to assist in moving forward, you should consider recurring donations to Greenpeace to allow them to do more testing…..or become a voluntary GP campaigner yourself. There's enough work out there for all of us.

  • AGreenRoad AGreenRoad

Please consider joining the green movement and being part of the solution, instead of being a critic of greens who are doing something…

    • pierre

and if you think the green movement is somehow under the wing of the main movement, than consider this movement which is much less likely to submit to tomfoolery and gladhanding. not recommending, I don't know.
I dont mean to get too off topic, but politics has been introduced into this and there very well may be Fuku connections. pays to have both ears pricked up.
