Homes near Japan nuke plant may be banned for ever

Japan on Friday said some areas surrounding the Fukushima nuclear power plant [...] will likely remain permanently off-limits.

Measurements taken between November and January confirm earlier results which show a level of radioactivity of 470 millisierverts per year when the average, under normal conditions, is less than one per year, according to a government report released Friday. [...]

Incredible! It is so bad now that they are starting to tell people inklings of truth little by little.

    • AFTERSHOCK AFTERSHOCK

@martinium: they're only responding to the irrefutable truth. They obviously don't care to acknowledge that they've lost total control over the situation, so they'll mask their incompetency with these feeble gestures. From what I've seen from ongoing reports over these last few months, the Japanese government is rife with lying whores…

I feel they are trying to steer the course of discussion and thought into bounds set by the owners. They cannot deny much longer how horrible the situation is in Japan. Instead of denying, they can downplay facts and offer outrageous solutions (decon) to make people think differently and accept the disaster. The viewpoints espoused in the media will most likely, if not always, be from a pro-nuclear viewpoint downplaying the risks while offering unrealistic solutions to nuclear's follies. They would never get into the nasty dirty details and will disqualify negative comments to nuclear as "can't be linked," or "it requires more research." Ignoring the decades upon decades of tests, sometimes grotesque and immoral, performed to understand the dangers of radiation.

I mean most people have been told how horrible Chernobyl was/is, yet they cannot logically assume that Fukushima with it's greater amount of fuel and 3 meltdowns could be worse! It is all about controlling the bounds of people's thoughts and subsequently discussion. Many people say to me, "Japan is so much more technologically advanced than Russia so they can handle it," and "it is the west not Soviet Russia." Now is that critical thinking or is that what the media implants in people's heads. They can only think in the positive and negative given by the media. The saying, "Think outside the box," comes to mind. Think of the media as that box and since it is the box it dictates how people perceive the world. I'm sure you already know that, but I feel it is important for the random person that stumbles on the site.

    EVACUATE JAPAN!!!!!!!!!!!

  • jec

Is this the same area they are moving the "disposable" evacuated citizens to? You know, the citizens who got radiation fallout, and no one wants them around? Sure hope not.

  • bleep_hits_blades

Some areas will be permanently off limits… like about half the island of Honshu …

This was the plan all along, release the info in increments.

Managing the human herd is a science.

    • StPaulScout StPaulScout

They (being TEPCO and the Japan Gov.) stated early on info would only be released when they thought the public was ready to hear it.

    • It is, in the age of tweets and blogging, the PTB can instantly assess the effects of their actions, sheep herding has become a science.

I am sure they love their new toys, while the sheep love their iphones giving away their freedom bit by bit, even while they still think they are free.

Spot on once again stock! As long as the slaves of the machine don't know they are slaves, the elites and owners can rule them forever. I mean, look at Greece, the banks are going to steal their gold and they will never have a chance of going back to the drachma and rebuilding their lives separate from the dictators of the EU. I was reading on Zerohedge that public sector workers have to pay back some previous wages and work a month for free just to keep their jobs! This is the literal buy out of Greece itself and it's sovereignty, yet there are not mass demonstrations and the forceful removal of the dictatorship in Athens! The propaganda in Greece must be working VERY well. What does this say for America? We all know how intelligent the average American is. lol It will take to the bitter end when the slavery is no longer a secret and all are suffering.

I often am reminded of this when I hear or read people putting OWS down as idiotic hippies, while they do nothing but complain and sit on their asses. The ones who know the truth and see through the propaganda are so hated as intellectuals that any action taken to end the tyranny will be greeted by their fellow countrymen, who are the very slaves the action would be taken to help, chanting death for treason. Look at Bradley Manning. I shouldn't see a single person saying he deserves jail and is a traitor. Here is a man who is exposing the very secrecy of war to enlighten the population to the horrors, uselessness, and careless concern for life of the war machine, yet he is lambasted as a traitor. HellO!?!?!?! Am I in crazy world? Just because a law is written, does not make the law just! People just love to blindly believe in their leadership and indoctrination AND I AM SICK OF IT!!! lol This last paragraph pretty much sums up why no action will ever be taken against the corporate and state tyrannies. It seems the jocks still run the school, while the enlightened are mocked and…

Imagine the horror when the true extent of exposure on the West coast U.S. get's leaked.

    • AFTERSHOCK AFTERSHOCK

@Laterlukemayb: if you've seen the dispersion maps of the fallout plume, the West Coast on-into Canada and across to upper New York state were inundated with radiological toxins. This area includes the upper Mid West as well. Our nation's food supply was basically poisoned…

      • Bones Bones

Ugh, I truly wish I was never born. Maybe born in some African tribe way back when, or maybe a thousand years in the future, or maybe another planet entirely, perhaps a completely different form of life that travels through time and space! lol Sometimes, I get sick of humanity and how dumb and easily controlled it is.

        On Topic:
These are some pretty wild numbers. I noticed there were no specifics on where the measurements were taken. How helpful and informative of them. If there are areas of such ridiculous radiation, and it is absurd, then there must surely be gigantic swaths of Japan containing life destroying/altering levels of radiation. The safe limit set by Japan of 1 mSV/yr is still not safe. The criteria for contamination in Japan is so high that areas that really are unhealthy for humans will be populated due to ignorance of the people and lies of the leaders.

It is time for Japanese citizens to map all parts of Japan and constantly update the readings. If there was a non-governmental network of geiger counters measuring ambient outside radiation levels, then the government would be held accountable as well as Tepco and it's ongoing emissions at the plant. A radnet of the people.

        Numbing words / truths Aftershock…

Too many food sources and food groups

        Much of? California's produce…
        The CA wine country…

I'll stop… But have been thinking
about the same for food safety.

So much of this is nearly like a dream…
SO Immense in scale and proportions.

    • HoTaters HoTaters

Imagine the horror when it leaks out THIS was likely the real extent of the contamination:

      http://globalcooperative.wordpress.com/2011/05/18/radiation-map-analysis-europe-australasia/

Scroll through all of the maps to get an idea what was likely out there ….

Nowhere is exempt from this! The levels (if this scenario depicts what actually happened) were so high they couldn't be measured. If the levels were off the charts in Europe, you can, by extrapolation, assume they were equally as bad all over the Northern Hemisphere.

  • bleep_hits_blades

Yes – if/when the info about West Coast/Hawaii contamination DOES get released.

As much as possible, they will just 'play dumb' about it all… hmmm, increases in this/that/the other cancer… in neonatal deaths, miscarriages, elderly deaths… first, if no one notices, don't tell them. If info does get out, 'do a study'… Oh, and definitely, fudge the statistics – that would be a first line of defense.

As I keep haarping on – Japan, the USA, and many other nations are being run under permanent states of national emergency – people aren't told these disturbing facts because to do so would 'threaten/disturb the public peace'…

Those states of national emergency are so darned handy because they give govt. total power. Troublesome stats about to be released? Well you just quietly go to the ones about to release them and tell them that it is a 'matter of national security' that they NOT be released….

  • bleep_hits_blades

Totally, AFTERSHOCK. Right on. In fact, I believe FDR put us into a state of national emergency (due to the Federal Reserve's scientifically created Great Depression). Actually so did Lincoln in the Civil War and it is not clear whether we have ever been taken out of that 'emergency.'

Governments love power and never willingly give it up.

These are the kinds of things we SHOULD be learning in school! (Just think how interesting school COULD be…)

"Wake up and smell the coffee" type stuff. But a truly informed and educated populace is the last thing 'our corporate masters' want!

  • bleep_hits_blades

The reason I write about all this stuff?

For some reason I have this sense of mission, this burning desire to 'save the world' — to save this beautiful, beautiful world and all of the beautiful creatures in it, and the wonderful talented human beings (in all countries, and of all colors etc.)who are being so oppressed that they cannot develop their talents and share them with the world.

So it might seem that I am 'all about me' but really it is this information. Who knows maybe that has been my mission, my reason for being incarnated here and now, or something.

I will admit that truth is stranger and vastly more interesting than fiction and lies, and all of these studies are fascinating and captivating and ultimately – I confess – one can become 'obsessed'…. I suppose. And then along comes something like Fukushima and says – Yes, honey, you was OBSESSED, but you wasn't obsessed ENOUGH! Now see what done gone happened… read your cards and WEEP!

"That which I most feared has come upon me…"

    • truthseek truthseek

      @ B H B
The reasons we are here writing and sharing with one another…
You speak for (share the concerns of) many. I could write much of what you speak on… I beleive many here parallel one another's self less, bigger picture concerns [bordering panic] of the EPIC GLOBAL DISASTER.

No worries B H B, please keep up the enlightened volley.

  • So from now on, there is no need to spread arround radioactive materials. Leave them there and continue the forgotten evacuations…

Little by little the truth about just how bad this Trillion Dollar Eco-Disaster is starting to leak out; I expect to see a huge anti-TEPCO backlash on 3/11!

They better get busy building the great wall of Japan with a radius of 50 km. 20 meters high. Truck in enough sand to put a 2 foot layer over the land. Another wall 30 meters high surrounding the wrecked plants and use that area as a waste disposal site for eternity.

    • Anthony Anthony

****This week, scientists reported the contamination has been detected as far as 640 kilometres off Japan in the Pacific Ocean, with water showing readings of up to 1,000 times more than prior levels.

But those results for the radioactive isotope cesium-137 are far below the levels generally considered harmful, either to marine animals or people who eat seafood, said Ken Buesseler of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.

Mitchell said the renewed attention on nuclear power is an opportunity to address some "misconceptions" about the industry and nuclear science.

"Like the fact that the management of nuclear waste is somehow this big vulnerability in our industry — and not one of our greatest strengths. Which it is."****

      • Anthony Anthony

***Mitchell said there is also considerable misinformation on the issue of radiation.

"Yes, we need to respect even small quantities of radiation. Our industry always has. But we also need to convey to people that it's been proven that radiation can be measured, controlled and handled very safely in ways that deliver huge benefits to society, in science, in medicine and in energy," he said.

"Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, Fukushima. These words are perpetual reminders that we can never be complacent, and that safety, despite our industry's excellent record, can never be taken for granted.

"As an industry, we have not been complacent. We are a better and safer industry after (Three Mile Island in 1979), than before. We are a better and safer industry after Chernobyl (in 1986), than before. And we are — and will be — a better and safer industry after Fukushima, than before.

"Which is why I believe our industry will not fade. It will not grow obsolete. It will thrive."

In other words: We will thrive after Fukushima because most people who witnessed it will be dead and dead people tell no tales.

I have a tendency to read in between the lines.

  • bleep_hits_blades

HoTaters – yes, Exec. Orders, EOs – another most interesting subject!

The president is not supposed to MAKE LAWS (like, issue edicts, which is what EO's basically are – the equivalent of a royal edict).

Congress is supposed to make the laws – the pres. is supposed to 'execute' them.

So how is it that the Pres. now is routinely making laws with all of these executive orders?

This is actually another piece of evidence that we are being governed under CONTINUOUS NATIONAL EMERGENCY – because under national emergency, the form of govt. shifts to a military dictatorship under the president as military commander-in-chief, and his powers are like those of a king, who can make law by edict or utterance.

This is what the controlling elites always want (throughout history), it to CONCENTRATE POWER – ideally into one controllable figurehead.

They have us so dumbed down that even such basic info as the above is news to most of us.

It sounds like sooner or later the TEPCO and government liars themselves are all going to be dead from what they are covering up.
