San Francisco Chronicle, May 5, 2017 (emphasis added): Leopard sharks dying by the hundreds in San Francisco Bay — Scores of leopard sharks have been found dead or dying… No one knows yet what is the cause. Alarmed biologists are trying to figure out why leopard sharks are dying by the hundreds in San Francisco Bay this year… Huge numbers of dead sharks, some bat rays and a few halibut have been found since mid-March along the shorelines… It is the second year in a row that large numbers of the bay’s most abundant shark have been going belly up during the spring pupping season… It is the largest leopard shark mortality event since 2011, when more than 1,000 dead sharks were counted…

San Francisco Chronicle, May 4, 2017: Hundreds of dead sharks washing up on Bay Area shores — For seven weeks straight, hundreds of sharks have been washing up dead on the shores of the San Francisco Bay… “We can’t actually keep up with the volume of calls we get on a day-to-day basis,” [Sean Van Sommeran, executive director and founder of the Pelagic Shark Research Foundation] said. Several types of marine life have been turning up dead, including rays and large fish like halibut. But primarily, Van Sommeran has been seeing hundreds of leopard sharks washing up. He estimates the number of dead and dying sharks in the bay could be in the thousands. “This is just the tip of the iceberg,” Van Sommeran told SFGATE. “We’re only seeing a fraction of the actual losses.”…

CBS S.F., May 4, 2017: Spike In Leopard Shark Deaths In SF Bay Raises Concerns… This is the third die-off in the past six years… Tests have found a viral and fungal infection that somehow makes its way into the shark’s brain…

ABC S.F., May 4, 2017: Leopard Sharks dying off in record numbers in San Francisco Bay — Leopard sharks in particular have been dying off in record numbers… Research so far points to a pathogen getting into the brains of the sharks. “Well the pathogens get into the eyes, nose duct, they have a brain infection [that] causes hemorrhage,” Vansommeran said.

Nuclear: "A few beers and you're done."
    https://motherboard.vice.com/en_us/article/radiation-resistant-mutants-at-chernobyl-pave-the-way-for-life-on-mars

…An experiment conducted on the International Space Station (ISS) last year examined this idea with the help of eight fungi species sourced from the Chernobyl exclusion zone. These strains sprung up in the wake of the 1986 meltdown, and two of them— Cladosporium moulds—seem to prefer radioactive surfaces. The fungal samples were curated by a team led by Kasthuri Venkateswaran, a senior research scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, who goes by Venkat for short.

"The radiation seen at Chernobyl is high, but this black fungi popped up first [after the meltdown] compared even to the bacteria," Venkat told me over the phone. "That is how we selected those fungi, from such a radiation-rich environment. These fungi persisted due to some sort of protein-coding and biomolecule information that protect against the radiation level."

…"Radiation-resistant genes can be incorporated into yeast cells that produce beer so that humans are willing to go to space—they will have a better beer to drink," Venkat said, as one example. …

    • Interestingly this black fungus like material appear all over the place in Japan just after Fukushima.

in 2013 I was sent this resin encapsulated sample of black fungus like material. It had reportedly come from somewhere in the Minamisoma area Japan. A contact in Japan sent a friend this sample. This is my test chart of it. For those of you who have not looked at a chart like this before. The position of the peaks in a the chart indicate what isotopes are present. This fungus started growing on the concrete, and rock surfaces in Japan after the Fukushima Nuclear disaster. It appears to be bio-accumulating Cesium.

      http://sccc.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Minamisoma-Cesium-290313-TV45-23c-25040-MB.jpg

Scintillators are less sensitive as you go to higher energy keV. The Theremino
MCA software allows you to increase the magnification of the higher energy
peaks. The peaks in this Theremino MCA V4.5 software chart have been energy
compensated, to bring out the smaller details at higher energies. The sample
      very small, grams or less.

A professional lab reported test results 117 Bg Cs-137 and 58 Bq Cs-134. This
black fungus material sample from Japan, contaminated with Cesium Cs-137 &
Cs-134, is encapsulated in resin for safety reasons. So we don’t know how much
it weighs. We are trying to find out. It may not have been weighed when it was
collected. Visually, looking at the encased sample, it would be a few grams if
      that.

      • Here is a pen tip placed next to the sample, to give you and idea how small the sample is.The black center is the sample. Also, the sample does not fill up the small sample container, that is in the center of the resin ncasement. The sample container is only around two thirds full.

Update on the possible weight of the Black Fungus sample from Japan. This
comment was posted on a forum discussing this test.

“I’m an expert on weighing objects (sell scales, use different ones daily, some precise to .01g). Fungus in that form does not appear to hold too much water weight and would likely weigh less than a gram given the scale. If it jis thin and flakey type fungus, it may be under .25-.5g. Is it thick like a mushroom cap or more like lichen? I’ve only observed extremely thin fungi growing on concrete, and I would err on the very low side. My best guess is .3g.”

        My reply

That means the black fungus sample from Japan is very, very, hot.

        Test results 117 Bg Cs-137 and 58 Bq Cs-134

        117 + 58 = 175 Bq x (1000 grams/0.3 grams) = 583,333 Bq/Kg of Cesium

Even if it was 10 times greater in weight 3 grams, it would still be 58,333
        Bq/Kg of Cesium.

While I have every empathy for people suffering for their livelihood these people are not reducing their taking of fish which would be the right thing to do. How can they, who know better than any of us, in good conscience, continue the taking of all these fish creatures when they know the fish populations are being decimated? Leave the golly damned fish alone so maybe they can survive!

        • Dazy, if the bottom of the food chain is not repairable, the rest of the food chain is living on borrowed time. Zoo-Plankton (kind of like animals) and Phyto-Plankton (kind of like plants), are the most important, and they get whalloped by radiation.

Simply thought experiment, backed up by science of the time, 1960's….as nations were insanely blowing off open air bombs in the cold war….why did they stop….because it was obvious from fish catch and SCIENCE that the radiation was killing the oceans.

Enough to stop the insanity. Now, the globalists have no shame, would risk a nuclear war to end the world, in order to prove that Russia "hacked the election" (what a stupid effing statement out of the gate) and to try to use such malarky to eventually impeach Donald Trump.

I do not agree with this dire assessment, I have hope (wavering hope) that people will turn against our planet's contamination. I have hope that there is a majority unspoken that will turn things around. Only the vociferous speak now but there is the silent majority who only want to live life in concert with the earth. The energy projected by this minority can infect the minority of stupids if we want it to, and if we act in concert.

Or…in the land of reality…the stupids have control and we all who have any thoughts of any kind in our heads, simply die. Cya.

DUDe, do you not think, sometimes, that you perhaps are projecting? If you project what YOU want instead of what is or what THey want, if we all do that, we can change things. It's a paradigm of thinking. If you think a thing good it literally can change to become good, that is the true magic of our energy fields, our personal energy fields are truly powerful (or magical, if you wish to think on things thisaway). You think, and it happens.

              • Dazy Dazy

I know this sounds like I am a nutty buddy but there are actual experiments where persons as a group have made a positive or negative emotional effect on an area simply by projecting their energy field. The studies are supported via crime statistics in the area of study.

I dont know Dazy , this is just a list of what is as of now..i did not list what they are aiming/wanting for..that is even so much worse..the logical extreme end of a age old quest for total domination over every living and dead thing..

Good thought's and hopes materializing in reality..i dont have much experience with that..they are still winning and doing so as long as i can remember..they must be pretty focused thinking..or their evil drives shared by a bigger mass..

I'm feeling very sad today because I visited my best local greenhouse and purchased some flowers. What made me sad is that I purchased so many perennials from them over the years that I had planted on my stolen land and have memories of the flowers… (via zombie foreclosure four years ago, sheriff auction this month, finally.)

Funny thing is they did that to my relatives not so many years ago too. Creek heritage, records burned, makes me and mine Wild Indians I suppose.

  • Jebus Jebus

    Now, it's a fungus…

Although the root causes and circumstances of the strandings vary, they all seem to be the result of fatal brain infections. But while individual and mass stranding events seem to be happening more frequently and affecting more species, researchers say there’s little data and not nearly enough funding to investigate.

“We know mass stranding events have occurred historically,” says California State University Long Beach shark biologist Chris Lowe. “It’s hard to say whether these [recent ones] are driven by anthropogenic issues, or whether they’re climate issues, or a combination. And of course that’s what everyone wants to know. Are we looking at something that’s going to be more prevalent, not just in San Francisco Bay but globally?”

The bacteria occur normally in the water, and in the gut of healthy cold-water fish like salmon and trout. But it is not typically present in sharks.

So for reasons researchers still don’t understand, sometimes the bacteria become pathogenic, sneaking inside a shark via the ears or nose and, Lowe says, “literally eating its brain,” causing disorientation and eventually death.

    http://news.nationalgeographic.com/2017/05/shark-strandings-san-francisco-bay-cause-fungus-pollution/

    huh…

    • Jebus Jebus

      Seriously?

"The bacteria occur normally in the water"

But then, 10 days after he’d started it, the dish sprouted a fungal colony. Okihiro had what he calls a “patient zero.” A fungal colony showed up shortly thereafter in a dish with samples from the second leopard shark he’d analyzed.

Eight more leopard sharks Okihiro analyzed showed evidence of fungal infections, although most of them have not yet yielded fungi in the Petri dishes. Okihiro thinks that might be because they were already dead when he collected them, causing the fungi to stop reproducing. But the so-far negative result means there’s nothing definitive to say.
