Hibakusha Press Conference
Foreign Correspondent’s Club Japan (FCCJ) in Tokyo on
22 May 2012

At 28:30 – 29:40 in

I’m Mr. Murata former Japanese ambassador to Switzerland.

The voices of the victims are not being heard sufficiently because of the efforts of the minimizers of the accident.

Today I want to only pick up one question, the problem of the Unit 4 reactor at Fukushima.

I’m saying this is a global security issue.

Because once an earthquake beyond a magnitude 6 or 7 happens, then the world starts heading towards the ultimate catastrophe.

According to the expert Robert Alvarez, the amount of cesium-137 is 85 times more than Chernobyl.

[Garbled Speech], but there’s not the sense of crisis.

I would like to ask your cooperation to alert the whole world to this danger.

Namie town and Itate village, near the plant in eastern Japan, are exposed to radiation doses of 10-50 millisieverts (mSv), while the rest of Fukushima has radiation doses of 1-10 mSv, the WHO report said.

Most of Japan has doses of 0.1-1 mSv, while neighbouring countries have less than 0.01 mSv.

The report says that the dose levels outside Japan are below levels regarded by the international radiological protection community as "very small".

nice juxtaposition though? dont you think…?

    • It is seriously wrong because it is blatant disinformation, and the BBC is well-known for that – as we saw all throughout the Iraq War.

These kinds of articles are out in great force, especially in the last few days.

That means lots of typing for us folks.

They're overtly trying to push a big lie upon us, telling us the grass is purple, when we know it is green.

    • Compare this disinfo:
Radiation levels in most of Japan are below cancer-causing levels a year after the Fukushima plant accident, a World Health Organisation (WHO) report published on Wednesday says.

      With this (for example):
'Radioactive fallout from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster continues to show up at dangerously high levels in the city of Tokyo, which is located roughly 200 miles from the actual disaster site. According to an analysis of five random soil samples recently taken by nuclear expert Arnie Gundersen, the soil around Tokyo is so contaminated with Fukushima radiation that it would be considered nuclear waste here in the U.S.

During a recent trip to Tokyo, Gundersen collected soil samples from a sidewalk, a children's playground, a rooftop, a patch of moss by the side of a road, and the lawn of a judicial building. After sending those samples in for testing, it was revealed that each one had high levels of radioactive cesium-134 (CS134) and cesium-137 (CS137), while three of the samples contained high levels of cobalt-60 (CO60). One of the samples also tested positive for uranium-235 (U235).'

SP: You're excused… Even though you hijacked the lead-off comment for an interesting topic. The WHO are nuclear whores indeed:

Now as to this thread… There is no doubt about who's on first (shindo scale or Richter scale) with the ambassador's remarks because he mentions "beyond" a 6 or 7 earthquake could destroy the Fuel Pond. There is no "beyond" 7 on the shindo scale. So he is using the western Richter scale and we know 6 and 7's are not rare in Japan (they had a 6.1 yesterday). So the threat is very real until ghd fuel cools and is relocated which Tepco says will take another 18 months. At their pace expect to double that time frame.

Just wondering if the Diet is fishing for some big Daddy Warbucks countries to come rescue the world and asking some dignitaries to speak out in a bid for help? So far the offers of billion dollar help from Obama and Jintao have been noticeably absent.

The shunning by China is not unexpected considering their ancestral history, but it's far more puzzling for America as we are the first downwinder nation from a potential nuclear fallout blitzkrieg. 40 hours on the jetstream after Unit 4 falls and Californians will ready to vote any candidate who can walk without drooling to replace Obama next January. Perhaps GE does not approve of massive help.

      Obama's stance is puzzling. The…

At least he has a plane so he zip off to Chile when the collapse of Unit 4 happens and the nuclear miasma begins to arrive in a Radioactive Cloud of Death. The rest of us will hunker in place. Time to die.

Is the MSM finally getting that things aren't as the Japanese government says they are?

CNN had a segment this morning entitled "Nuclear disaster spreads to houses, food"

    • Finally. The picture is clear… it spreads in many ways.

      Decent report considering MSM.

I am sending this one to my family of MSM only watchers. They even say 3 meltdowns.

CNN Reporter Kyung Lah is another hero. I hope this video does not get removed. Somebody, please copy or mirror this.

So sad for that family, (and many others), and that little girl.
:( Sorry for any typos, I cannot see through the tears.

There are plenty of other videos to prove our point. We know what's coming up. It's horrible, it's hard to face, it cannot be buried, it doesn't have Lady GaGa singing in the background or sweet-voiced blonde-haired American girls prissing their hair and twittering in front of glitzy cameras for the video-drugged nation and it's undeniable:

    • Forty miles away is about 65 km away. Busby was afraid to go within 100km of the site.

Transport of radioactive materials around Japan means nowhere is safe. Someone's going to 'get it' (the radiation) so there's no escape.

Now, have a look at the levels on a train coming out of Narita airport (massively high):

      10.50 microsieverts in Tokyo train

(I suspect it's being carried on the soles of shoes throughout Japan – but notice he's holding the counter about 3 feet off the ground).

I am reminded of Pandora's Box:

Pandora's Box is an artifact in Greek mythology, taken from the myth of Pandora's creation in Hesiod's Works and Days. The "box" was actually a large jar (πίθος pithos) given to Pandora (Πανδώρα) ("all-gifted", "all-giving"),which contained all the evils of the world. Today, to open Pandora's box means to create evil that cannot be undone.

Most mainstream media will do what they've always done, stay on the fence until it's obvious who's going to win!! It's almost as if by reporting the truth you will be accused of having an agenda!!!
Has the world always been this corrupt??????

"The real unforgivable acts are committed by calm men in beautiful green silk rooms, who deal death wholesale, by the shipload, without lust, without anger, or desire, or any redeeming emotion to excuse them but cold fear of some pretended future.

But the crimes they hope to prevent in that future are imaginary. The ones they commit in the present – they are real.”

Finally maybe the world will wake up, wakie, wakie
Gold star for mr, Murata, it's time for cooperation not finger pointing
We can not undo what has occurred, let us mitigate the problem as best we can.
We require the collective knowledge of man kind to proceed.
sovereignty Of Japan unfortunately will have to take a back seat, as this concerns the whole world, sorry.
Maybe the world could own Fukushima prefect and we could give Japan a nother piece of land somewhere,
I know we all end up paying for someone else's mistakes, but if we don't money and power will be irrelevant, as we will all be dead or sterile.

Good morning earth I love you
I'm the radioactive plumb from Fukushima
And I will be at your front door

I always find the wording of the bbc interesting: "Radiation levels in most of Japan are below cancer causing levels"= radiation levels in parts of Japan are at cancer causing levels. And "radiation levels in surrounding countries are Close to normal"= you have to go abroad before radiation levels get near, but even then are still not at normal level.

As a kid My dad said reporters forbidden from saying things often try to communicate in softer writing or clever ways of getting their thoughts or knowledge out.

Or Maybe it's just sloppy writing that leaves a lot of wiggle room in understanding.

excellent insight, godzuki. i notice that backwards-speak ALL the time, and i always take it as 100% intended to distract and mislead.

but maybe some of the time there's a real goodness in the human directly connected to all that smoke-and-mirrors phrasing — the reporter IS actually trying to get some fact across that is all but censored by higher-ups, advertising/sponsorship motives, etc. thank you –

and somehow it's really striking to see each backwards statement 'translated' directly into clear English, so thanks for that too!

TEPCO has said that this is not fixable for 20-30 years and only if in the future the technology exists, they can't fix it. Everything else I read is just day to day updates to pass the time until it's either fixed or kills us.
