Title: Lady Barbara Judge: Japan’s smart nuclear weapon
Source: The Independent
Author: Margareta Pagano
Date: Sunday 17 February 2013

Lady Barbara Judge is just back from inspecting the nuclear plants at Fukushima in Japan, the ones closed down after the devastating earthquake and tsunami two years ago. She visited the control rooms at Daiichi – plant one – where three of the reactors went into meltdown and met many of the men who risked their lives by working during the emergency to cool the over-heated reactors and eventually shut them down.

It’s not what she expected but the mood there was ” fantastic”. “What was astonishing was the optimism and hope shown by the workers that these plants can be made safe, and that they can start operating again,” she says. But this was in stark contrast to the mood of the Japanese public, still in a state of shock and strongly opposed to the restoration of the nuclear programme.

Already being hailed as Japan’s nuclear saviour, Lady Judge was in Fukushima with the bosses of the plants’ owner, Tokyo Electric Power Company [...]

[...] with scientists such as Professor James Lovelock and critics such as the environmental activist George Monbiot coming on side, she is now even more confident [nuclear has a future as part of any energy mix ...]

[She] had long, blonde and wavy hair – Farah Fawcett style – and her crochet dresses were short. “They came to about here, about as short as this jacket,” she whispers. “It was the Sixties. I was a bit of a leftie, you know, demonstrating against Vietnam, that sort of thing.”

[...] at weekends she lets her hair down and wears jeans; with a blue blazer, of course.

In addition to discussing clothing choices, the article notes, “There’s one group of people who stay stubbornly anti-nuclear – women, especially the more educated ones. Wherever you are in the world, she says, all the focus groups show that it’s better-off women who don’t trust fission.”

More from Judge:  CNN - American at Fukushima Daiichi: "It was fantastic... I was amazed"

This is no surprise–the nuke industry is alive and well in UK–no doubt someone from TEPCO asked UK to send someone to support TEPCO.
I doubt if her visit will change ANYTHING. The facts are still coming out about widespread contamination in Japan, and rad-water is still exiting from the Daiichi site into the Pacific Ocean. Unit 4 is still dangerous…..on and on.

Just to say that given Japanese culture I very strongly doubt her coming on board was on TEPCO's initiative. My guess is international atomic interests forced her upon them, and TEPCO considers her a liability and public relations nightmare.

In fact one could only hope this (ridiculing nuclear) is the effect it ends up having in Japan, but unfortunately it's rather clear she's there for the benefit of the international audience. (British, probably, given the focus on "Lady Judge")

I'd be interested to know how many, if any Japanese even know she's on board. I could not find her mentioned on any of the materials on the "Nuclear Reform Monitoring Committee" materials I found. Thenagain they've also sent her on trade delegations to Arab cultures. Maybe they were hoping to trade her for a camel?

You are smart AND hilarious!!! For a camel!!! Anyways, I hear your take on it but want to suggest not to underestimate how Japanese in their way really look up to the west and white people. Generally speaking. Thats not to say they also have prejudices as well with other races like everyone does but I think in this context where the populace is revolting so strongly, white authority carries alot of potential power in moving the people back to accepting nuclear there. She is even called lady and her last name is Judge. She is their big gun to pull the people back in line, just watch. I think she is very Gaga and they LOVE HER.

Her track record has not always been so cheery:

    April 23, 2010

"WASHINGTON—Massey Energy Co., owner of a coal mine where 29 workers were killed this month, on Monday said that the board member responsible for governance had resigned because of the demands of "other ongoing business activities."

Lady Barbara Thomas Judge's resignation, effective immediately, comes amid growing criticism of the management of the Richmond, Virginia, company. For months, shareholders had complained that Lady Judge was unable to devote enough time to the job because she served on too many corporate boards. The complaints about Massey's corporate governance intensified after a coal-mine explosion two weeks ago that was the deadliest in 40 years."

    Another article in 2007:

"But questions remain. Why does Lady Judge need so many jobs? How did she land her role at the UK Atomic Energy Authority, when she had no relevant experience? Is it relevant that a female friend was on the selection panel?
Lady Judge bristles. She points out that, as a lawyer, it is her job to master a subject about which she is initially ignorant. To prepare for her role at the Atomic Energy Authority, she even studied her son's physics books. She also has a strategic business role, which she is well equipped to carry out.'

But to throw this one in the face of people already being poisoned to death, is so low, it's sunk right down to the corium in the melted nuclear reactors.

Remember Charles Keating? She was knee-deep in the largest banking scandal in history…she paid off someone to be kept out of the class-action filed by the people who lost money from the savings and loan scandal

Remember the Rupport Murdock (Sun)scandal, where celebrities had phones tapped and several went to jail? She was part of that too

She was given the title "The honorable" when she was elected to the board of the SEC, a title which she has kept, which even SEC execs say is uncustomary and "highly unusual"

Yes, this is a different level of propaganda, but ultimately the nucleocrats can only stall and hope Fukushima Daiichi gets magically contained. Chernobyl was pretty much contained (at least for continued longe range fallout) after 6 months except for some local fallout that continues to this day. The big nuke builders and the military generals anxious for their continued supply of nuclear weaponry are praying Fukushima will just fade into history so they can get back to their death dealing ways.

But things are still bleak in Japan. The news never gets any better. More people in central Japan are getting sick and the connection to nuclear fallout is impossible to hide in the Internet media. The MSM even feels obliged at times to buck the former code of silence the nucleocrats held for decades.

Hang on for a bumpy ride…lots more surprises lurking in the future from Japan. The key to global knowledge will be the health of Tokyo citizens. When radiation illnesses escalate to epidemic proportions then people like Lady Judge will be revealed to the world as the biggest genocidal liars since Stalin and Hitler.

Newsflash: You're obviously on the right side, but underinformed. Chernobyl was not all that "contained." See Helen Caldicott about contaminated food in Europe to this day. Me, I was living in New York at the time. And from childhood, I had seen caterpillars on the sidewalks, and then butterflies in the air. After Chernobyl, no more. Not ever. By the way, look into the Santa Susana Labs just outside of L.A. — a 1959 accident 240 times worse than Three Mile Island, concealed from the public, and heavily contaminated to this day. But Fukushima? The worst! Three total meltdowns (Michio Kaku says never before) and NO WAY to stop, contain, or fix anything. But tragically, this one cannot just "fade into history." The strains on the health systems world-wide may well become too obvious and too great. I'd like to say "too gloomy a prediction" — but shy of a miracle, just read and that is what you very well might see.

            WNTF: ….underinformed….

SP: ;-) . No need to quibble over words, but I assure you that my use of the words "continued long range fallout" means my opinion that little "fresh" deposits straight from Chernobyl Unit 4 have added to the deposits worldwide. YMMV

The site has been nearly contained, but of course the massive fallout deposits already ex-vessel ( or actually ex-site since there wasn't much of a vessel) move about at will from forest fires, floods, snow, etc.

The scientists are even astounded that the Chernobyl world-wide cesium levels have NOT dropped a half-life in the near 30 year time frame as expected. So much for their original projections.

2009 article on this cesium puzzle:

            http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2009/12/chernobyl-soil/

SP: The fact they have discovered strontium levels did degrade as expected tells me no new massive influx of fallout is coming from Unit 4 at Chernobyl. I think the cesium is migrating from other hot spots through disruption of soil and timberland. Some disruptions are manmade (farming, excavation, dredging, etc. Some are environmental like wildfires, blizzards, jetstream movements, and drought.

Fukushima Daiichi does not have any level of containment that prevents massive fresh emissions every second of the day. There is no off switch at Fukushima. 710 days and counting for this crisis and they have no hope of solving the constant new air and ocean discharges.

She works for TEPCO. Such a surprise:

"Lady Judge is chair of the Energy Institute at University College, London.[27] In January 2006, she was appointed by the School of Oriental and African Studies in London (SOAS) as Chairman of its governing body, and is also Chairman of the advisory board for the London Middle East Institute at SOAS.[28] Elsewhere, Lady Judge is a member of the International Board of Overseers of Sabancı University, Istanbul, and a visiting fellow of the University of Oxford Saïd Business School, at the Centre for Corporate Reputation.[27]

"In September 2012, Lady Judge was appointed member of TEPCO Nuclear Reform Monitoring Committee.[29][30]…"

She also works for the banks:

          "SEC and banking

"In 1980, Barbara Thomas was appointed a member of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in Washington, D.C. for a five-year term.[13] As she was the youngest SEC commissioner, this was widely reported and a key stage in her career.[14][10] In November 1983, after the birth of her son, she resigned to become a director of the British merchant bank Samuel Montagu & Co. (now part of HSBC Private Bank[15]) and move to Hong Kong with her husband.[9][16][17] In 1987 she became senior vice president of Bankers Trust International Banking in New York.[11]…"

She thinks she is a success if you look at her picture on wikipedia. All she is a success at is stealing on a huge scale and murdering off millions or billions. She'll be remembered with Stalin and Hitler.

There is a connection between Montagu and the Rothschilds. Such a surprise (sarcasm).

            Samuel Montagu

Brief History of Samuel Montagu as London Bullion Market Member

            Samuel Montagu & Co.
1853 – founded by Samuel Montagu and Ellis Franklin in Leadenhall Street.
Moved to 21 Cornhill soon after.
Early 1860s – moved to 114 Old Broad Street.
Only firm combining banking and bullion broking.
1963 – Montagu Trust was formed as a holding company whose subsidiaries were Samuel Montagu & Co., Guyzeller Zurmont Bank and 2 insurance companies E W Payne and Bland Welch
1967 – Montagu Trust becomes a subsidiary of Midland Bank, remaining relatively independent until 1985.
1992/3 – Hongkong & Shanghai Banking Corporation take over Midland and Montagu Trust becomes part of HSBC Investment Banking Group.

            Rothschild Gold Bars
As you can see from our photograph, gold bars exist with both Rothschild and Samuel Montagu stamps. It is likely that one of the companies made bars fro the other under contract.

London gold fix prices can be found on the site of the LBMA, the London Bullion Market Association.

Is this even true or a fable they are telling? I mean that picture of that lady didn't even look real.

This is just so unbelievable that those reactors can be made safe and start up again, and that someone would even think that would be possible.

Where is at least the photoshopped photo of her "visiting" the nuclear plants? There is no way she is getting one inch closer to them. I'm just livid that callous mass murderers like this still get dignified as "humans." Who cares about their money? Just don't call these people as being from the same species as you or me.

She DOESN'T think that it's possible to re-start those plants. And no, she did not "visit" them. The nuclear industry worldwide is what they are protecting. On the other hand, the corrupt evil maniac just re-installed as Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, MAY want to "restart" the reactors, even though he has to also know that that is not possible. I hate to say it, and I never thought I would, but what if Japan outright sunk? THEN would there be any chance of saving the rest of the world from ongoing deadly irreversible contamination? Or would it just keep spewing into the oceans and the air forever? Is this just a rhetorical question by this point?

I consider Barbara Judge…a danger too Japanese society…and the world.

She represents the interests of the nuclear industry..nothing more.
She is the opposite of what we (I) represent..therefore she is the opposition.

You are looking at an example…what 'breeding' in this world creates.

Perhaps gullible should be added to her resume.

When things go wrong, AND they will, it won't be TEPCO top brass that gets blamed, that'll be the *foreigner*, who obviously wasn't up to the task of working miracles.

IF by some miracle she does succeed, she could make an absolute fortune getting the worlds supply of 'burnt out' bulbs working again.

The Japanese will be disappointed. A savior? From America?

When it is realized finally that Japan is irreparably damaged, the US reputation will be even more damaged than it is now. Everyone there will be asking what about this promise from America? Surely she is deluded or just relishes the acting role. Maybe she thinks that she can fool all the people some of the time, or some of the people all the time, but anyway, oh what fun!

The Lady should see about getting Chernobyl fixed up first. For practice. After all, it is a less complicated situation. I wonder how long till she starts losing her hair? And bleeding… oh what fun.

She has a picture of Fukushima blowing up on the wall. It definitely is not what I would have on my wall. Is she claiming that she is on a regulatory body separate from TEPCO? These people are really scarey; their world is so divorced from reality. She is having parties. Another Madame Bovary? Fiddling while Rome burns. She is undoubtedly asked to be on boards because she does whatever someone asks. I thought Rupert Murdock was in jail or going to jail. Why isn't she in jail?

NewsFlash! Lady Judge to be sent back in time to the deck of the Titanic! Her mission — to hand out flyers stating in no uncertain terms that all is well. There is no panic. Like in the movie, The Matrix, "There is no spoon."

Convening all passengers in the boardroom, the Lady solicits the most able passengers to work out the details for towing the sinking vessel into port, where she will be refitted with all the latest electronic devices, such as 6,000,000 inch flatscreen 3D HDTV.

One passenger screams, "But what about the people jumping off the ass end of the vessel, which by the way is pointing at the North Star?" The Lady gives a coy look to the passenger, and replies, "Next question! — and please remember, posters are not to launch personal attacks."

I watched a couple of the Planet Of The Apes movies last night that included the one which I was reminded of by this story focused on the wrongdoings of the so-called "Lady Judge"(not fit to "judge" anything or anyone & IMO doesn't merit the term of respect as she isn't a "Lady" at all!)~"Beneath The Planet of the Apes"-which she shares an uncanny resemblance to "Albina" so well that I wouldn't be surprised if someone grabbed her by the chin & removed her blonde haired,human-looking latex mask to reveal her radiation-mutated face as she prays to the golden"Doomsday Nuclear Bomb God" thanking its inventors for the "Holy Fallout"!!(?) This poser-"hippie"(?!)disgusts me & I'm not pleased that her need for attention & an audience to lie to has been both fulfilled & enriched her as she's found herself being voluntarily,"gleefully"in fact-being used by her fellow nuke-puke cohorts to appeal to those more impressed with "plastic"-"appearances",than with the substance & contents/intentions of PR spokespersons being paid to lie or perhaps actually are that stupid that they would STILL remain unconvinced of the obvious, undeniable proof that doesn't need to be seen "in person" to KNOW that the NPP will NEVER again be operational again-just like the lands & sea & life forms now dead forever thanks to that hellhole & evil bastards responsible & she added herself to the list! How & WHY would workers share her idiotic fantasies or view the USA as their…

I'm adding a short addition/revision of my above post since it was hastened by the anger the attention-seeking,elite,female"Royal Nuke Shill" stories evokes from me which might've allowed my comments to deceptively suggest that this Moronic Bionic Woman was innocently recruited for just her soothing aesthetic qualities with PR value via appearance & her abilities as an actress!~Not so!-she is and has ALWAYS been an active player in the nuke-puke,jet-set circles with her equally plasticicized, nucleonic spouse and deserves to have their images included on decks of playing cards issued to the anti-nuke army, the same pics that should appear on future "WANTED" posters with an adequate reward & "Dead or Alive"! They're probably so heavily vested in their "fabulously fantastic" fragile as plastic, pet nuke projects that they WILL be filing for bankruptcy when THEIR worst nuke "disaster" occurs!(?)="Shutting down of ALL NPP's & already-threatened new nuke technology-based projects/facilities being shelved indefinitely" and their personal, financial RUIN"!! Certain topics have wound me up so bad lately that the tension increase & setbacks regarding my wife's cancer recovery & having been shot with a .45 through the leg while trying to ("helpfully & voluntarily")disarm a drunk former resident of the building 3 wks ago today, etc. has caused me to develop blood pressure/cardiac issues & I may take a break & go to the ER tonight if I don't feel better in an hour or 2…
