A major Japanese oil wholesaler says it has developed a fuel cell system that supplies 70 percent of a household’s daily electricity needs.
JX Nippon Oil & Energy Corporation says the home-use device is 10 percent more energy efficient than conventional models.
The device produces electricity and hot water through a chemical reaction with hydrogen and oxygen. It will sell at around 35,000 dollars in October.
Critics say such systems don’t work during power failures, a drawback revealed during the March 11th disaster.
President Yasushi Kimura says his company plans to solve that problem by selling the product with a storage battery system that keeps working even during blackouts, as early as next summer.

Very sad. I have seen in my days blue collar workers doing all kinds of things to shorten their lives. Good people, badly informed.

What do they mean by “they found radioactive material attached to his jaw, neck”?
Was it “attached” in a way that it cannot be washed off? Did some of it get absorbed by his pores? I thought external contamination could be cleaned off.

lam335,
I would think it was SLUDGE “mud” (found radioactive material attached to his jaw, neck and on mask) since he worked with the water purifying system !

Such a cover up going on regarding radiation casualties…
Flashback: 2nd explosion injured 11 people.

Even if we are to believe that only injuries occured, they still got engulfed in the mushroom cloud. Yet, no official radiation casualties.
150+ smth missing workers… I think thats the actual number we should be looking at.
They cant find them, beacuse the records of their deaths were either destroyed or classified.

So saddened by all this, the only thought left to come to my mind is a Buddhist prayer of dedication:
Through whatever merit and virtue attained,
Perhaps the “I” should be changed to “We”, and “passion” be changed to “volatility.”
Other than that, may we continue to try to evolve to a more loving, nurturing, sustaining beingness.
