AP, Nov 26, 2017: Japan is poised to flood the Pacific with one million tons of nuclear water contaminated by the Fukushima power plant… The Japanese government is being urged by experts to gradually release radioactive water in to the Pacific Ocean… The water is stored on site in around 900 large and densely packed tanks and could spill should another major disaster strike. The government has been urged to release the water into the ocean… Local fishermen are extremely hesitant to this solution… Fumio Haga, a drag-net fisherman, said: ‘People would shun Fukushima fish again as soon as the water is released.’…

Newsweek, Nov 25, 2017: Experts Want Japan To Push A Million Tons Of Radioactive Water Into the Pacific Ocean… The government has been urged by experts to gradually release the water to the Pacific Ocean…

AP, Nov 27, 2017: Fukushima meltdown: Japan urged to dump radioactive waste in Pacific Ocean by nuclear experts; Nation at a loss with how to dispose of tanks of toxic matter left over from 2011 disaster… Experts advising the government have urged a gradual release to the nearby Pacific Ocean… Local fishermen are baulking. The water, no matter how clean, has a dirty image for consumers, they say… The fishermen fear any release would sound the death knell for their nascent and still fragile recovery… The amount of radioactive water at Fukushima is still growing, by 150 tonnes a day. The reactors are damaged beyond repair, but cooling water must be constantly pumped in to keep them from overheating. That water picks up radioactivity before leaking out of the damaged containment chambers and collecting in the basements… “Our recovery effort up until now would immediately collapse to zero if the water is released,” Iwaki abalone farmer Yuichi Manome said…

Metro.co.uk, Nov 27, 2017: Japan could pump 1,000,000 tons of radioactive water into the sea from Fukushima — More than six years after a tsunami devastated Japan’s west coast and overwhelmed the Fukushima nuclear power plant it has been revealed radioactive water could be pumped into the sea… Experts have advised the government to carry out a gradual release into the Pacific Ocean… Fishermen are still trying to recover from the disaster but the release of water could kill the industry…

    Picture of title.

This book details the story of two earthquakes, one that has already happened and one that is imminent, and their consequences, not only for Japan but also for the rest of the world. It is structured in a way that ‘chunks up’ in sections, from local/national events through to global consequences.

The site has some good info to share…

    • Every time a eq happens the stress goes someplace else..

So a earthquake releases pressure in one place but also creates stress someplace else…

Tectonic plates push and pull and that's something not studied…

Is the pressure released on on side of a hung up plate the other side if that gigantic plate is also effected…

..so a quake in south america may in turn cause a bigger quake in asia and so on.

Earthquake prediction is not a real thing (except for known solar events) but the obvious stress from a "hung up rock" plate that finally snaps is it (the stress) has to go somewhere and when the snap happens it also changes the other side of the gigantic plate 1000's of miles away…

Been watching this thing for a while after fuku to try to determine when to run, not from the actual earthquake but from the meltdowns that will inevitably occur in my area of the world…

Here's a good one to look at:

Distant earthquakes can cause underwater landslides (thousands of miles away):

Leuren Moret has gone on record stating there is complete mixing of the atmosphere within one year – in both hemispheres. She basically said there is nowhere to run, nowhere to hide from this. The "great conveyor belt" in the oceans also causes the waters to mix.

So there truly is nowhere to go to escape from this.

Perhaps the waters in the southern hemisphere may take longer to become contaminated (as contaminated).

        But the contamination is there.

No one should be smug about "escaping" from the effects of the nuclear morass.

The Japanese Government Is Lying to the International Community: the Radiological Situation in and around Fukushima is NOT Safe

One of the main tactics that the Japanese government often uses to propagate the “safety of low level irradiation” is to compare artificial radioactivity with natural radioactivity. But this logic is a methodological sleight of hand. It is crystal-clear that even exposure to natural radioactivity has its own health risks. Cancers sickened and killed people long before artificial radioactivity was used. For example, Seishu Hanaoka, one of the founders of Japan’s medicine, carried out 152 breast cancer surgeries from 1804 to 1836.
Both kinds of radioactivity have their own health risks. Risks caused by artificial radioactivity should not be compared but be added to the natural radioactivity risks as they both lead to the accumulation of exposure.

    • Jebus Jebus

Both kinds of radioactivity have their own health risks. Risks caused by artificial radioactivity should not be compared but be added to the natural radioactivity risks as they both lead to the accumulation of exposure.
For example, potassium 40 (K40) is a typical natural radioactive nuclide. According to the Japanese government, the average internal exposure dose for adults from K40 is about 4,000Bq/year or 0.17mSv/year. See the website here (in Japanese).
The ICRP risk model (2007) allows us to estimate the approximate risk posed by K40. The calculation shows that K40 is responsible for approximately 4,000 cancer cases and 1,000 deaths every year. If the same amount of radiation was added to that of K40 in the human body by artificial sources, the cancers and mortalities would be doubled to 8,000 and 2,000 a year, respectively. Based on the ECRR (2010) model, which criticizes the ICRP risk model as a severe underestimate, these figures should be multiplied by 40, reaching 320,000 and 80,000, respectively.

        Thanks for setting that up Jebus…sure, Ill hit that ball. Heres the quote;
"ccording to the Japanese government, the average internal exposure dose for adults from K40 is about 4,000Bq/year or 0.17mSv/year. …

Ive spent hundreds of hours reading countless pubmed papers, and I can say unequivocally that the Japanese government and the ICRP are simply wrong and uninformed. Their assertion above is not based on tests, it is simply wild speculation based on incorrect dogma.

First, lets get the typo out of the way. K40 radiation is not 4,000Bq/year, its 4000 bq per SECOND. Pretty big error, no?

See my recent posts which cite papers showing that low level fallout exposure is all about metabolic changes.

There is no published tests or proof of those assertions, and in fact, there is an indication that the K-40 may have PROTECTED life from cancer (involving pro-survival microRNA bantam and receptor tyrosine kinase Tie)

thus, three pound brain ape-man was fooled again!

    27th November 2017 – A poison in our island

Buried beneath this vast disc is 85,000 cubic metres of radioactive waste — a toxic legacy from the dawning of the thermonuclear age.

In the late 1970s, Runit Island, on the remote Enewetak Atoll, was the scene of the largest nuclear clean-up in United States history.

Highly contaminated debris left over from dozens of atomic weapons tests was dumped into a 100-metre wide bomb crater on the tip of the uninhabited island.
“The United States Government has acknowledged that a major typhoon could break it apart and cause all of the radiation in it to disperse.”

If nothing is done to secure this man made toxic site, all this highly radioactive toxic material will be dispersed into the already stressed Pacific Ocean!

    Quote from wikipedia:

Nuclear testing began in 1946 on Bikini Atoll after residents were evacuated. Over the years, 67 weapon tests were conducted, including the 15-megaton Castle Bravo hydrogen bomb test that created significant fallout in the region. The testing concluded in 1958. Over the years, some cleanup was completed by the US government.

"An inspection (4 years ago) found that the dome was deteriorating, and the radioactive groundwater below rises and falls with the tides. Storms wash sand onto the dome; vines grow in the cracks."

"As things now stand, the Runit dome is likely to be submerged by rising seas or torn apart by storms, releasing its radioactive poison into the ocean and compounding the legacy our advanced civilization has left to this tiny island nation."

Towards decommissioning Fukushima: 'Seeing' boron distribution in molten debris

"When melting happens, phenomena like relocation occur such that the boron atoms—trapped in the debris—accumulate towards the bottom of the reactor," explains Kasada. "This can lead to a lack of control agents in the upper core structure and thus a higher risk of re-criticality in those areas."

"It's crucial to get a picture of how boron atoms are distributed inside the reactor, so that we know which areas have higher risk of re-criticality. It's also important to know the chemical state of boron, as some boron compounds can affect the formation of radioactive materials released to the environment."

Stakeholders were shocked in late October when they learned that cod stocks in the Gulf of Alaska appear to be at the lowest levels ever seen. Surveys indicate a drop of almost 80 percent from last year. Further digging into the data didn’t improve the outlook.

The problem is not confined to cod, all marine life has been declining along the western coast of America, Canada and even Mexico since 2011.
Biologists tracked increases in bird die-offs, whale strandings and other events such as toxic algae blooms.
In September 2017, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service released a new report claiming tens of thousands of kittiwakes, murres and auklets were washing ashore dead in Alaska for the third year in a row, the total number of deaths was incalculable because many many more birds are thought to have died off the coast and died at sea.
If tens of thousands of them are dying, it's because there's no fish out there, anywhere, over a very large area!

Latest Stock Assessment Shows 80% drop in GOA Pacific Cod ABC for 2018

An updated review on tritium in the environment

Various studies indicated more or less recently that organically bound tritium (OBT) formed from gaseous or liquid tritium releases into the environment potentially accumulates in organisms contradicting hypotheses associated to methods used to assess the biological impact of tritium on humans (ASN, 2010). Increasing research works were then performed during the last decade in order to gain knowledge on this radionuclide expected to be increasingly released by nuclear installations in the near future within the environment.

Transfer and uptake pathways and rates of each of these forms of tritium can be very different. Because these forms have different origins (autogenic/allogenic), they are expected to present different OBT concentrations and cause different signature levels in organisms from those in the surrounding environment (e.g. in the Mediterranean Sea). The discrimination in the environment of these different organic forms of tritium has not been studied to date as well as the consequences on tritium uptake pathways to living organisms, particularly in the case of sub-microparticles (e.g. at the mouth of the Rhône River).

    • According to nrc's own work that's in the record, it would take 18 years to release just the tritium (dependent on 98 percent filtering, yea right) it will take years to safely release (trickle) these toxins under the "the solution is dilution lie"…

So what? They give up right away just dump it? or they don't have a choise under the current conditions…. Not thinking so and it's past time to get it done correctly…

…but then again, what do I know anyway.

All we are is into the Ocean

During July of 2016, hundreds of rhinoceros auklets washed up dead on the beaches of the Olympic Peninsula. Such mass mortality was never seen before in this species and scientists, including Dr. Julia Parrish, investigated myriad reasons, from food availability, contagions, and toxic algal blooms to the warm-water “blob” that cooked the Pacific. Come learn about what caused this die off and how citizen scientist volunteers are helping to understand these events.

At least then they would be dumped far out in the sea like bin laden instead of washing up on beaches.

U.S. military officials said that after the raid U.S. forces took bin Laden's body to Afghanistan for identification, then buried him at sea within 24 hours of his death in accordance with Islamic tradition.

But then.. I often scratch my head…it often bleeds. This one just happens to be located on land.

Wadi Al-Salaam (Arabic وادي السلام; Valley of Peace) is an Islamic cemetery, located in the Shia holy city of Najaf, Iraq. It is the largest cemetery in the world. The cemetery covers 1,485.5 acres (601.16 ha; 6.01 km2; 2.32 sq mi) and contains over 5 million bodies. It also attracts millions of pilgrims annually.

The sea must be full dead Islamic guys… seriously, if that's tradition I've never heard of it.

I don't get around much, but I know that in Saudi Arabia the body is not supposed to be moved for three days from where the body died.

and what if an Islamic guy died in the desert? Which seems highly likely. Ah, well, the tradition you know… got to carry the body to the sea. Well, here I have one pint of water, I'll drink it and then drag a body 500 miles. Nah.

I think they made that one up.

No seriously I think Bin Laden died way before that supposed kill mission by a seal team that later all mysteriously died, at least as I remember reading about it. Bin Laden… yah, right they got him, yup, No press videos, too much respect for the dead. Like Sadaam Hussein, respect tradition, beat him hang him humiliate him, then off to the sea for ol Sadaam.

New article by Joseph Mangano asks if Indian Point nuclear power plant in New York is responsible for soaring Thyroid Cancer rates:

"Exposure to radioactivity is the only known cause of thyroid cancer. Indian Point routinely releases more than 100 radioactive chemicals into the environment. These chemicals enter human bodies through breathing and the food chain, harming and killing healthy cells. One of these chemicals is radioactive iodine, which attacks and kills cells in the thyroid gland, raising the risk of cancer."

"Chernobyl's Animal Mutations Shed Light on the Impact of Nuclear Releases"

    • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

actually the author is not correct about fallout energy destroying DNA. Most of the DNA damage is caused by metabolic changes in the cell. The cell would not even have to be radiated at all. The significance is that the old dogma about radiation danger has been overturned by research in the last 20 years, yet the contemporary, non linear and deterministic effect of low level radiation is never admitted.

      • It isn't dogma, and radionuclides do destroy DNA.

        • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

Yes, dogma is the word which is used by contemporary science to describe the outdated, incorrect view of low level radiation danger. It WAS considered 'stochastic', DNA double strand direct hits, linear and statistically calculable as having the same biological effect as background radiation, which is insignificant.

If you had read and digested the many many links I have posted to elucidate this fact, you wouldnt be arguing about it, but rather supporting this damning revelation which science has uncovered over the last 20 years.

For the most part, radiation from fallout induces metabolic changes which THEN causes DNA damage or interferes with its repair. This is the opposite of the standard dogma.

Now that you know, you can update your thinking

  • Greetings Everyone

I'm hoping someone can help with a question.

I was reading the article below in The Asahi Shimbun and was startled by the claim made that there was no hydrogen explosion in Fukushima Daiichi Unit 2 in 2011:

Chikako Kewahara (2017, December 4). Fukushima dome roof takes shape, but radiation remains high. The Asahi Shimbun, http://www.asahi.com/ajw/articles/AJ201712040041.html

"To the south of the No. 3 reactor building stands the No. 4 reactor building, from where all the spent nuclear fuel has been removed. To the north is the No. 2 reactor building, which avoided a hydrogen explosion. Beyond the building, cranes and other large equipment are working in preparation for the removal of debris from the No. 1 reactor building."

In my blog post, I examined this claim critically because all the sources I have say there was an explosion in unit 2 http://majiasblog.blogspot.com/2017/12/very-strange-contradiction-concerning.html

However, a commentator at my blog said that Safecast claims there was no significant hydrogren explosion at unit 2.

Looking at the images at Cryptome tonight I see no clear evidence of an explosion in the images available there but the plant manager's testimony – that I cite in my blog – states there was a popping sound and radiation levels went up alarmingly at Unit 2, which caused Yoshida to recommend workers shelter (this is when they evacuated to Daini).

Can anyone help figure out why the narrative is…

    • why the narrative is changing?

It makes sense to me that the explosion at unit 2 was much smaller but it wasn't less devastating in the sense that it is unit 2 which is now being discussed as posing the most challenges for extracting fuel.

The narrative provided by Chikako Kewahara in the Asahi suggests otherwise.

      • unincredulous unincredulous

I'm really tired and …. going to bed. I've been letting go of Fuku studies, but as I recall they said that a panel blew open at #2, so the hydrogen could escape.

Was that a failure, or did the other units fail in this regard? Maybe the ones that did not blow out a panel followed the design plan. So pressure built up and go boom.

They always change the story, to confuse us all, but from the beginning #2 was considered the worst problem. Who really knows? I hope they have a blowout panel for all their bullshit or else we are in for another big boom.

    • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

majia…they will say any damn thing to try and pull the rug over their deadly disaster. I think they cut a hole in the outer containment to let hydrogen escape. Yet the thing melted down…so. Anyway, my opinion is that all explosions were combinations of causes. Steam explosions…nobody mentions it. How could there not be steam explosions? Then there is a lot of explosive stuff in the fuel especially when micronized and spread out in aerosol dispersions.

They say SFP4 had all fuel removed. I dont believe it. The place blew sky high. Corporations are by nature a lying psychopathic monster

Back in 1986, Chernobyl nuclear power plant melted down and European governments have banned the consumption of meat as far away from Chernobyl as the United Kingdom.

In 2011, Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant melted down in Japan. 100 times more powerful a plant than Chernobyl had, and full of spent fuel rods from many years of use, it is said that we got lucky because the fallout mostly went out to sea.

United Nations representatives and nuclear regulatory agencies have banned the consumption of certain fish by other fish without rigorous testing by the schools of fish.

The schools of fish report to the United Nations that there was no level of fish contamination harmful to human health. And we trust them
