Wonder what the actual numbers are? As I recall Europe raised its “safe” radiation levels in the aftermath of Chernobyl. Are they still elevated?
Is it 10 Bq/m^2 or 1,00 or 1,000 or …

polimaster strikes again.
what an amazing piece of technology.
some people like the 4th dimension on the wrist… for others… the 2nd is required as well.

“”At around 20:00, a man called saying his wrist watch had signalled increased radiation near the street,” Adamcova said.
The radiation was measured by a man who was walking at the playground along with his son, she added.
He told Czech Television that his wrist watch, with a radiation measurement device, had started peeping.
He said he then went home for further instruments that confirmed the increased values.
The firefighters sent chemical experts to the place, Adamcova said, adding that they, too, had measured the increased values of radiation.”
thought that it was interesting that it was a citizen with a personal gieger counter that alerted the authorities!! an interesting development as we begin to see the invisible world around us… this must be the biggest fear of the nuclear industry… thats why its so bloody hard to find a gieger counter unless you buy it on the internet, at least in the uk!
damn right the authorities in japan want to make it illegal to own a geiger counter…
and i can see similar measures being taken elsewhere too!

The only thing my wristwatch does is tell the time.
It says it’s running out.
PS re radioactive waste :
Bury it!

in the meantime they had partially sealed off the Prague’s Podolí district because, after looking for the source of the radiation, measured 1ms/hr (= in the Czech Republic 1000 times above normal) radioactivity:
http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread758280/pg1
“It turns out that the radiation source is a canister that was probably buried in the ground some time ago. The actual radioactive material is believed to be radium and it’s suspected its original source was a device used within the health care industry.”

mis-translation from Czech: not a “canister” but a “needle/ cyringe” (2cm long, 2mm wide) 8cm under ground, contaminated with Radium 226. Has been under there for decades. The Polimaster watch proved to be AMAZING !!!!!!

The polimaster only detects gamma but it’s pretty damn cool. Wish I could afford one.
