(Subscription Only) Title: Thyroid gland tests on kids in Nagasaki to be compared with Fukushima findings
Source: Asahi
Author: YURI OIWA
Date: November 20, 2012

[...] The Fukushima prefectural government [...] survey found that 40 percent of 96,000 or so children for whom test results are available developed thyroid gland problems, such as nodules, or lumps, and cysts. [...]

Despite parental concerns about radiation exposure, it remains difficult to say with any certainty whether the 40-percent occurrence rate is alarmingly high or not. This is because no exhaustive thyroid gland tests have been done on children using highly reliable ultrasound technology.

The Environment Ministry commissioned the Japan Association of Breast and Thyroid Sonology to conduct thyroid gland checkups on 4,500 children aged 18 or under in three prefectures outside Fukushima.

[...] Nagasaki Prefecture was chosen as a study area partly because of its remoteness from Fukushima as well as the absence of obvious health issues stemming from the nuclear disaster and the presence of experts in thyroid gland testing. The Japan Association of Breast and Thyroid Sonology also plans to carry out similar tests in Yamanashi and Aomori prefectures. [...]

  • We Not They Finally

Why don't we just jail the corruptment government officials and their complicit medical counterparts? Why not? I mean, "there is no way" we could say that that measure is too severe until we throw away the keys, and even then….

Yes, it is extremely high! How many children had these problem before npp's? It is a very bad sign when the children are so terribly abused! Where is conscience and humanity?

The Information Era doesn't let these lying nucleocrats wash everything under the rug like Chernobyl.

There will be repercussions for the verdict of Japanese nuclear industry history and it won't take 26 years to unfold.

Whether that’s “alarmingly high” it’s difficult to say"
    ????
WHAT? 40percent of a given population is showing abnormalities and the experts find it difficult to say if it's an alarming rate?

Job discription experts needed, piles of credentials wanted but applicants must be lacking any common sense??

Exposure to low-level psychopathy has not been proven to cause harm. Only massive, acute doses are dangerous. Sound familiar?

Interesting list, but this is from Kevin Dutton's book "Wisdom of the Psychopaths"

Dutton treats psychopaths as 'them', not 'us'. 'They' just have different character traits. Dutton claims we admire them for those traits. The last chapter of his book suggests ways 'we' might exploit those traits to be successful ourselves. Hence, the book's title "Wisdom of the Psychopaths".

There's another school of thought that threats psychopathy as a communicable disease. The underlying influence is anti-survival of everyone else for the benefit of optimal personal survival. 'Evil' in a broader, non-religious sense.

Reality: If you can ignore your own moral compass long enough to employ Dutton's *wisdom* of the psychopaths, you will eventually become the psychopath. The opposite is also true: being aware of your own moral compass and not acting like a psychopath moves you closer to the opposite extreme: healthy.

Reality: If you are healthy but part of a diseased organization, than being successful in that organization is next to impossible.

Dutton's book serves to reassure wanna-be psychopaths that what they're doing is OK because there *is* no ethical slippery slope – there's two sides: us and them. We can never become them, so it's OK to act a little like them to achieve success. Low-level doses are, in Dutton's view,…

Nagasaki? I would figure that would be one of the last places for a control group.

It must be for a comparative study. X amount of.children developed cancer at a rate in nagasaki. 70 years later nagasaki population has x amount of cancer . Etc. They know the exposure rate for.nagasaki. its so they can crunch the numbers for for.fukushima and Tokyo . And at 40% within a year and a half at Fuku things are not looking good.

My heart goes out to all the children and parents. Many tears will be shed. May they stay strong .

Nagasaki provides 'useful' figures, not accurate or reliable ones. If you microwave most of your test subjects and ignore that in later studies of 'survivors', then you get wonderfully skewed results. If a lot of 'survivors' die of radiation-induced illnesses *before* you start collecting numbers, you get more convenient numbers. If many blast survivors died weeks or months later due to dehydration, malnutrition or other untreated injuries, then the numbers look better still. If you assess dose based on the primitive techniques of examination used decades ago and the limited understanding of radiation's effects, then you can make the numbers sing if you want to.

Dr. Mengele-san is sure to use his magic Hiroshima and Nagasaki numbers for the control group. They will provide equally worthless results for this study.
