Title: Tests find cesium 172 times the limit in Miyagi Yacon tea
Source: AJW by The Asahi Shimbun
Date: Apr. 13, 2012
The Miyagi Prefectural government said April 12 that radioactive cesium 172 times the central government limit of 100 becquerels per kilogram was detected in Yacon tea [...] 17,200 becquerels per kilogram.
[...] the maker already sold 1,100 sets of the product [...]
[...] planted Yacon outdoors in May last year in the town of Zao [...]
“The company brought the product to an inspection agency because Tokyo Electric Power Co. (which operates the crippled Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant) said it will not provide compensation without test results for radiation,” Yoji Sakai, company president, told The Asahi Shimbun. “I became worried and consulted the prefecture.” [...]
“The tea will not cause health problems soon after being consumed,” said Michiaki Kai, radiation protection professor at Oita University of Nursing and Health Sciences. [...]

"soon after"? …Thats the most crazy statement yet.

Double gov't limit prolly make ya sick in a while. Triple gov't limit prolly show effect in a few days. 5 times gov't limit prolly show up quite rapidly. 172 times gov't limit= tea is good for you. sarc/on

The use of the term "soon after" is so transparent….that they know there is a huge problem.
Yet it fits in to the pathology of how they think about this stuff.
What is just as disturbing is to realize that there must be a fairly large percent of the general population that does not recognize this sort of linguistic diversion.

I am at a point where it is nearly impossible to stay in closer contact with my mother and brother. I can`t stand their uninformed and uninterested way of dealing with this situation. Tried to inform them but they don`t want to know. And I can`t act as if nothing happened – don`t want to. So I reduced contact to a minimum. Sad but true. And I always thought that family and good friends would be important in times like these…

@HamburgGeiger, I understand what you're saying but it's not easy to comprehend the highly possible outcome of this situation. A lot of people just don't know how to deal with the idea that the world may be in for a giant catastrophe.
Report Comment
I don`t know either. But I know that we need to be so aware of alls this if we want to use our perhaps last chance (in case we get another one).
Report Comment
If people haven't been following this story due to ignorance or lack of interest, it's probably not possible for them to comprehend how serious it is. That is, if they don't know for example, there were already explosions at spent fuel pool #4, #3, three melted through reactors, and predictions of another very large earthquake in Japan in the next year (and what that might do to the plant, esp. spent fuel pool #4) then it's impossible for them to grasp it.
It helps to know how serious the situation already is, and know some of the background behind the dire predictions and warnings. It's pretty hard for the average person to understand, without that background, it's not just another "scarey headline" in today's infotainment or another attempt by media to attraction your attention. "Media du jour" is the word of the day for mainstream media. I think the way the news has been handled in the past 20 years has made people shell-shocked and they can no longer tell fantasy from fiction.

Umm, fantasy and fiction are the same, sorry.

Hi HamburgGeiger
This is your family/friends, don't be to hard on them. Take them as they are. They will need you more when SHTF.
For now, you have done all you can by warning them. They will probably ask questions when they are ready to hear more.
My family doesn't want to hear it either, and that's their decision. I can't force them to understand how devastating this really is. Family and friends don't always agree.
I know this is a serious disaster, and right now we are all in trouble. However, I'm still hoping that things will change and that SDoesNotHTF..
You can't act if something hasn't happened, when it has. However, be thankful and enjoy in what you have right now. Enjoy your family and friends, spend good times with them.
Whatever is going to happen, is going to happen. There is either going to be a miracle or not. If I am going out by this disaster, I want to go out with a smile being thankful for the time I had here.
This disaster might kill me, but it's not going to control me.

It's pretty nuts that such criminal acts occur. I never thought I'd read that people can buy food that is clearly radioactive from the local supermarket. Remember even one time peaches from Fukushima were advertised as being from Chiba or someplace! I always thought our governments would step in and say no way. Instead they keep pumping out the rice, meat, milk, fruit, tea and fish and test maybe 1%, which fails. And only for cesium, not uranium or plutonium. Unreal! Undoubtably Michiaki Kai was either quoted out of context or is on a payroll.
Report Comment
Best thing to do for Japan is not to eat anything that is grown there, and not to buy anything that was manufactured there. Many Japanese are already drinking only imported water, and eating only imported food. Kevin Blanch tells us that since no Japanese will eat Japanese seafood anymore, they are exporting all the radioactive seafood to the US instead. Government says they are monitoring imports for radiation, but my guess is that the radiation detectors in Pacific ports have quietly been turned off. Homeland security? Don't bet on it! Japan economy will crash if no one buys their tea, foods, and products. But that will motivate the Japanese people to migrate elsewhere, as they must do to survive. If they stay, they will all surely perish.

Back to the topic a bit… I think highly contaminated tea leaves from Honshu and tobacco leaves would be almost as deadly as mushrooms, freshwater fish or seaweed. The act of boiling tea leaves or burning tobacco surely concentrates the cesium into a form that enters the human body easily though the intestines or lungs.
The tobacco contamination is definitely going to be a game changer in Japan. The Japanese smokes like fiends, ranking 13th in the world at over 2,000 cigarettes per adult per year. The paradox has been cancer rates have been very low despite the high consumption. Several factors produce this anomaly…better diet, low fat foods in that diet, more exercise, less obesity, and the last factor is Japanese cigarettes contain less carcinogens.
Things have changed for the worse… the diet is contaminated, exercise is probably been constrained by people staying indoors to avoid fallout. But the biggest change is contaminated tobacco. Plutonium and cesium will travel directly in vapor form to the lungs. Expect a massive increase in smokers from sudden death syndrome (cesium-induced heart attacks) and later down the line carcinomas in the lungs.
The Japanese are going to rapidly become third world life carbon forms for longevity.

Sorry for the non-sequitor but I wanted to tell you Sickputer about the outbreak of stomach problems in Phoenix.
Severe stomach pain and, to a lesser extent, other GI symptoms lasting from days to weeks.
The strange thing is that they can come and go.
They've been severe enough that people are going to the doctor but no diagnosis of flu has been given yet.
One young man I know lost 20 pounds over a few weeks of this.
No diagnosis.
Please tell me that there is NO WAY this could be radiation.
I am hoping it is a hard-to-diagnose flu.
Am I over-reacting here?

Majia, I would definitely say you are NOT over-reacting. Living in Seattle, with relatives and friends in N. and S. California as well, I have heard too many similar health issues this past year which proves to me our health has definitely been adversely affected by Fuku radiation fallout.
I'll list these issues below, so you can see for yourself the disturbing trend.

1. In April and June last year, during the Fuku fallout, my child had two anaphalaxic type reactions after playing outdoors and after going berry picking. My child had NEVER had any such issues or allergies previously.
2. At various times since Fuku, I have felt my tongue tingling and my body have strange pulsing pains in various organs and muscles, after eating various foods. They were especially strong last spring/summer, but I also felt like I had eaten hot coals for several weeks in the fall as well. I seem to be always tired and have never felt like this in my life.
3. In June last year, my elderly mother who was in general good health suffered a stroke and started to show signs of kidney failure…both are symptoms which radiation exposure can cause. My mother lived in the city just next door to Anaheim, which had the highest I-131 levels and Los Angeles (20 miles north) had 1-131 in their drinking water.
4. My mother and sister (in N. CA) both had pneumonia in January and February. My brother in S. CA had it last year as well. NO ONE in our family has ever had pneumonia.
5. My niece, her husband and toddler in N. CA all had the same virulent cold bug I had and kept having relapses for over a month. Her husband still was coughing after back-to-back regimen of antibiotics.
6. My doctor prescribed a double strength antibiotic for my sinus infection/bronchitis and my child's doctor prescribed an ADULT dose for my child…unheard of!

I agree with you, Sickputer, I think something very nasty happened at the beginning of March/end of Feb. From nuckelchen's videos it looks like it. I'm glad your feeling better.
Majia, I read on Fukushima Diary (I think) that a doctor said that you can have regular GI issues and you can have regular nosebleeds, but if you have both at the same time it is indicative of radiation sickness. I had both mid-March. My daughter still has the fluid filled rash that bleeds, that CB, StillJill, Bobby1 have also mentioned. I wish that we all were writing from South America right now.

Thank you so much, No Nukes. I am so sorry to hear about your family's health issues too.
My sister and her family live in the Bay Area too, and have been having the drug resistent bronchitis issue too,
I forgot to mention about skin issues. I have always had healthy skin, but since Fuku, I too have had strange blister-like occurrences on isolated spots on my skin, that when lightly scratched, the surface layer comes off easily and leaves red,raw skin exposed. These take weeks to heal in some cases. The first occurred last May, while sitting in the sun and a blister appeared. I scratched it, and the melanin (colored layer) never grew back, but a scar appeared that is basically bumpy, scaley skin. The other strange occurrences include a burned off area of skin on my calf after playing in a January 16 snowfall. I had pants and boots on, so not sure how my skin got exposed…but was shocked later than evening when, while sitting in bed, I looked down to see my raw, red skin exposed…It took several weeks to heal and left scar tissue. Also, several times after taking a shower, a red area will show up on my skin and again, scratching it leaves a red, raw exposed layer of skin underneath. What is going on?

"Also, several times after taking a shower, a red area will show up on my skin and again, scratching it leaves a red, raw exposed layer of skin underneath. What is going on?"
That was happening here in October through January. Contaminated tap water. Taking showers and washing dishes caused the red bumps and patches. Also caused the thyroid to swell. It has gotten worse again lately.
Report Comment
Sorry you've noticed this as well. Just happened to me again yesterday morning. I also think it happens sometime after (not immediately) I eat contaminated food, as a part of my skin will just start itching…I can often feel a small bump under the skin where it is itching (like a fatty knot). I can't help wonder if it is one of those lovely isotopes (like cesium) migrating through my body…Strange, huh?

It's not the radiation causing these skin symptoms per se, it's the immune system trying to get rid of it. Actually a sign of health in a way. If you didn't have this going on, they would be accumulating in the body more.

Thanks, Bobby1. That makes sense, I know that Celiacs who have this kind of skin reaction to wheat don't end up with the same intestinal damage as celiacs who don't have dermatitis.
You don't think it could be an allergic reaction to the iodine? It is a more mild version of what happened when I put just a little Lugol's on her skin (before I knew of her reaction), so that's why I wonder, I have never seen this before the Lugol's.
Report Comment
NoNukes, it could be iodine, I-131 is definitely what was affecting me a few months ago. I also have a sensitivity to stable iodine (and other metals), but I had to take Lugol's anyway, because the radioactive version was worse.
Report Comment
That sounds kind of like my daughter's skin. Anytime in the water (even 2-3 minutes) her skin starts to itch, leaving red marks. The thing that helps more than anything is staying out of the water.
Her skin also has fluid filled little bumps, after a while they bleed and take a long time to heal. The doctor said dermatitis, but that means nothing. She is allergic to iodine, so is iodine 131 or 129 in the water?
Report Comment
I wish I could wave a magic wand and make your daughter's skin issues disappear. Maybe like Bobby1 says, the bumps are signs the body's immune system is working hard to clear out any bad stuff. Children seem to bounce back so much quicker than adults, so I hope her skin issues heal soon.
Your description of water-filled bumps seems to fit my skin issues as well. They seem fluid-filled, as the skin feels almost moist and that is why the top layer comes off so easily when I scratch it…? Like a blister, I guess.
Report Comment
The top layer is where the iodine, cesium and plutonium is, when the skin comes in contact with radionuclides from air or water. It sloughs off like a snake shedding its skin, or you have got to scratch it, and then it comes off.

But Bobby1, I like the way you describe the isotopes being just under the skin's surface, our body pushing them out via the skin. We just need to keep them in good working condition so they have the strength to keep on keepin' on, as the saying goes.

More incidents to report:
7. There is a whooping cough epidemic in WA state. Hundreds more cases than last year.
8. My ex-brother in law in So. CA (inland and north of San Onofre), late 50's, had a heart attack last December (thankfully, he's ok) and was diagnosed with diabetes (again, organ failure and heart attacks & strokes are all possible signs of radiation exposure.)
9. Friends in WA state had relatives dropping dead out of the blue from heart attacks: a 30-year old, a 50-year old, a friend's mother died suddenly after Fuku last year and a friend's grandmother just had a stroke.
10. Also in December, I learned of a friend from So. CA who had been in a parent play group with me and my child in LA several years ago died of suddenly of a massive stroke. She was in her late 40's and left two small children.
Of course, most of you have heard about several celebrities recently dying of sudden heart attacks, including Davy Jones of the Monkees (a strict vegetarian), the controversial conservative blogger (don't remember his name) who dropped dead while walking at midnight near his Brentwood Los Angeles home, and the comic impersonator who died suddenly after returning from a trip to China, and the former N. Your child's anaphalaxic reactions sound terrifying. How have they been lately?
My daughter's skin has these little blisters, but not the usual kind, much smaller, they don't seem as painful but itchy.
I forgot to say that I have has sinus infection since March, it gets better and worse, have a headache right now. My husband had one, but he got rid of it by using a neti pot for the first time, so I have to try that tomorrow.
The number of strokes and heart attacks in that age range Bobby1 mentions has greatly increased around us. I don't remember hearing about people having strokes and dying in their 40s, but now it seems to be happening often.
The 20 somethings do not seen to be healthy either, I posted about a surfer who has pneumonia and shingles.
It is disconcerting, and then also hearing about the celebrities you mention, and others like Olympic swimmer Mark Lenzi. My daughter loves swimming, but now she can't go in the water.

Sharp2197,
You are incredibly strong to endure 30 years of this kind of suffering, I'm sorry that you have had to. I did take her to the top dermatologist around, but of course, that day, there weren't a lot of the little blisters, so the dr. said dermatitis because of the rash. The next day she had 7 new blisters! We go back next week, so maybe we will find out more. In my next life, I am going to be a dermatologist, there aren't enough of them around, at least in San Francisco.
When I started putting a tiny bit of Lugol's iodine on her skin, the next day her whole body was covered with these tiny bumps and an incredibly itchy rash, it was hard for her to sleep. Allergies to iodine are pretty common, so I wonder if it is causing these rashes. Iodine 129 lasts for millions of years.
Sharp, is there any possibility that you are a Celiac? 25% of Celiacs have Dermatitis Herpetiformis, a rash reaction to wheat, but also a blister-like rash reaction to iodine. My daughter has had this a very itchy rash reaction to wheat, but only the really intense blisters with the Lugol's and now water. So, I wonder if maybe you too are celiac, and your system gets overloaded in part by iodine.
Celiac is genetic. I ate wheat for 34 years, but stopped when I stopped it for my daughter, and we both were better very quickly. Iodine is increased in certain foods, including those grown in fields that have increased Iodine 129 from fallout

I'm wondering if the problem is Iodine 129, in addition to 131.
Also, so many of the better multivitamins have elevated levels of iodine. Obviously kelp, etc. has raised iodine. Dairy has a lot of iodine, this forum page has some links

Dealing with I-129
Lifestyle Changes in a Post 311 World
The companion of radioactive iodine 131 is I-129.
Long after the 80 day full life of I-131 is over, it's companion, I-129 lingers on with a full life decay cycle of 157 million years.
Present in the environment at a 3 to one ratio, to I-131, this hardy isotope remains a real threat to human health.
The Noah Family has continued to take protective levels of Potassium Iodine daily, having reached iodine sufficiency sometime during the summer of 2011. Daily maintenance dosage continue to this day because of the persistence of radioactive iodine in the bio-sphere.
All life on the planet is being effected by the 311 event. New I-131 & I-129 is being continually produced and released into the environment. I do not foresee an end to this crisis, but more of the same, as the Fukushima nuclear volcano continues to erupt.
Ironically, the 311 event has leveled the playing field. All mankind is equally vulnerable to the contamination. Youth, Fame, power, good looks, wealth, offer no particular protection from contamination. Truth coupled with wisdom (correct action) has now become the greatest health advantage in this endless crisis. TO be deceived by lies, means a much shorter life. Those spouting the lies reveal the depth of their own ignorance and delusion. For the first time in history we will see the results of their…

Thanks for sharing all this excellent info, NoNukes! I think you should check with your child's doctor, as I suspect the rash may indeed be a reaction to Lugol's. Doctors warn not to over-do intake of iodine, probably for reasons such as allergic reactions.
I continue to be impressed with Noah's thoughtful (and thought-provoking), intelligent contributions to this forum. Thanks for the repost on his insight into I-129. Certainly gives one some extra food for thought…

In the late 90's a Dr. gave me Allegra and a tube of Neosporin. The Neosporin just made it worse. It usually flares up when I am outside and sweating. No known food allergies. Good luck at the Dr. next week.

Thank you for letting me know about the pineapple enzyme. I'm going to see if I can get some grown in either S. America or at least Mexico. As you may know, Hawaii got his pretty hard by Fuku fallout (they found strontium in the milk, etc.), so now I'm concerned about food grown there, including pineapple and sugar. So much of our processed foods have sugar in them, and yet another study that the media highlighted recently showed that sugar is a toxic substance in the body. Well, if it is also irradiated from Fuku fallout, then it really, really must not be good for us to eat.

There has been a flu virus going around in Maryland, very bad, almost everyone has come down with it. It killed some people. My son had a 104 fever for a week, a friend came down with pneumonia from it. Another one has come around this past week. My ex has got the bad stomach pain from this one. I have gotten ear infections and major arthritis flareups from both of them.

I looked up our county flu stats and Influenza A H1N1 is going around here again.
Your son may have had H1N1. It is nasty and my youngest son had it twice.
We all had the H1N1 2 years go (or whenever that was prevalent). High fever was the marker.
The stomach thing has no fever.
Are you confident it is a flu? I hope so!

Bobby1, please take good care of yourself. As you know, those of us with compromised immune systems are more susceptible to radiation.
I have a question for you: I know that last year, you had done a lot of work researching CDC stats, etc. Have you looked at them lately. I'm curious to see if the statistics corroborate my own observations and anecdotal evidence I've been hearing about increased strokes and heart attacks along the West Coast (WA to CA) since 3/11. I'm very interested to see if there has been an increase. Not necessarily in number of deaths (though I'm guessing so), but rather, increases in OCCURRENCES of heart attacks and strokes…
Report Comment
The CDC mortality data I looked at wasn't broken down into heart attacks and strokes, just influenza and pneumonia (which were increased). But it seems likely that those conditions were a part of it. Early on, it seemed to affect 65 and older the most, but it transitioned to the 25-44 age range toward the end of the year. It affected the mountain states from Montana down to Arizona more early, but by November and December, the west coast from Washington down to California was worst.
Report Comment
Ah, interesting, Bobby. My child's school and sports team, etc. in WA state all got the virus (some stomach flu, some like us, cold virus/respiratory issues) just in the past couple of months, so looks like the viruses migrated into the various state per the time table you mentioned.

No you are not mistaken…this GI "flu" is strange. I have it myself… Been sick for three to four weeks. I blame it on the bad fallout in the first three weeks of March. I have gone to some new and varied herbal remedies and actually feel much better today for the first time in three weeks. Had some killer headaches also and heard a lot of anecdotal discussion about similar headaches.
Could be also my improvement is because the haze has been less for several days now. The thing is I have been indoors a lot with HEPA filters and had safe foods. Very little outside traveling. Had a very weird sensation today in my upper side torso area today just for 4 or 5 minutes. Kinda unnerved me a bit because it was painful, dizzying, but not in a vascular way. Seemed in my muscles and all I could think was maybe this is what cesium feels like when it bioaccumulates in your muscles. Felt better in five minutes.
Rarely drink, but I am enjoying an Argentina beer tonight. Tasted pretty good…not as much bioaccumulation has hit the pampas yet.
Hang in there kiddo… We may be the wslking dead, but we aren't goners yet. Just think how bad it must be for the Luddite Lambs who haven't made any lifestyle changes. They are the Dropping Dead I read about on the huge obit page every day.

If these really are symptoms of radiation, then we are in huge trouble.
What I've read is that people who actually get severe nausea and diarrhea from radiation exposure are likely to die if they do not get treatment. Die within a year.
The symptoms I am seeing around me and experiencing are not severe, severe but they are driving people to the doctor.
My best is that it is just a flu.
If I discover that these symptoms are truly from radiation, and not some virus or bacteria, I am going to leave my house and my job and flee with my kids to South America.

Proving Japanese radiation is causing sickness in America is very difficult to prove. Numbers fudged at Radnet to confuse the masses, doctors who know virtually nothing about radiation symptoms much less treatment, and when a killer is invisible you have zero chance of proof.
Let me predict what will happen in America if Unit 4 drops, burns out of control, drives all the workers away and the CSFP building and Units 1, 2, 3 and 5 and 6 burn out of control.
US local, state, and federal response: What a terrible tragedy in Japan, but the distance is great and the ocean will dilute the worst of the radiation. No need to panic, we may need to ramp up our fracturing mining for oil and natural gas. We will phase out our nuclear plants over 30 years and look at solar and wind power options. That is all… have a nice day and think happy thoughts.
Report Comment
Yes, that is what will happen.
I think those of us paying attention will be able to determine whether we are suffering more acute radiation symptoms if strange symptoms fail to go away and/or if they spread across our social networks, without resolving.
However, since strange symptoms are pretty routine, we must be careful not to confuse normal health conditions with Fukushima effects.
I figure that if these stomach problems do not go away in another week or two for me personally, then I am going to be really worried, especially because that does seem to be an evolving pattern (as Sickputer reports as well).
I know not to wait for anything official…
I'm not trying to alarm anyone but I think we need to pay attention and share what we see and learn

Ordinary viruses can wreak much more havoc on us due to our weakened immune systems. It's not necessarily "just a virus"…. radiation can harm the body's response to viruses and bacteria.
Report Comment
Yes I agree that the radiation is definitely making people susceptible to infection.
I am confident on that.
However, as I understand it, the stomach problems do not manifest after relatively recent exposure UNLESS the exposure was pretty darn HIGH, and when that happens the effects are going to be life threatening.
What I'm trying to say is that I know Fukushima is going to kill millions slowly.
The question is, how many people are going to succumb from more acute radiation syndrome.
I did not expect that to happen in the US and still hope it doesn't but we need to monitor…
Report Comment
I agree with Bobby1, that ordinary viruses can wreak more havoc on those whose immune systems have been compromised by radiation exposure.
But also let's not forget the fact that radiation affects things on the genetic level as well. In other words, what are usually "typical" seasonal cold and flu viruses can themselves become more virulent by the radiation they've been exposed to mutating.
So not only have our immune systems been compromised and having a harder time fighting illnesses, they are having an even harder time fighting newer, more virulent strains of bacteria and viruses.
Report Comment
To clarify: it is the viruses are mutating, not the radiation.

Or a winning Megamillions ticket. I would be drinking my Argentina beer from the tap at the local watering hole. The problem with emigrating as a refugee is that you can't take all the family tree…to really do it right you need enough money to take 20 to 100 family members with you. That would be some serious big bucks. The Japanese can attest to the fact it is possible for middle class folks to emigrate, but only the very wealthy can manage to take most or all of the family tree.
It would be very interesting to me as a historian to get firm data about the demographics for the past 13 months of emigration from Japan. It has been significant and very under reported.

Have you ever had a splinter? Your body sends the troops out to surround it and create a barrier between you and the splinter. Ultimately, filling the area with puss and fluid that allows the splinter to flush out and exit the body. Pimples seem to be the result of your immune system ridding the body of very tiny non-self particles that natural killer cells have located, consumed, and created a protective barrier between the self and non-self entities. The whole process is very elegant and miraculous, especially how the body creates a pimple to discharge the material and subsequently heal the damaged tissue.

I did some investigation this morning on the stomach flu thing.
I did find an outbreak of food poisoning in Japan linked to a Norovirus
http://www.japantoday.com/category/national/view/68-people-suffer-food-poisoning-at-new-otani-hotel-in-tokyo
Noroviruses do have the symptoms we are seeing in Phoenix:
http://majiasblog.blogspot.com/2012/04/cdc-flu-stats-for-week-ending-april-7.html
POSSIBILITIES:
A. This is normal outbreak.
B. Radiation has weakened our immune systems making us more vulnerable to norovirus.
C. Radiation has made a norovirus more virulent.
D. Both B and C
E. Norovirus is a cover for something else
????
The symptoms that people describe above of the bronchial and sinus problems may be caused by two influenza A strains that are dominant right now, H3 and H1N1.
Again, radiation exposure could reduce our immunity or capacity to cope with these viruses, which can be detected by a blood test
http://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/
I've been using the Netti pot twice daily and it has kept sinus infections at bay. It will also rinse any radioactive dust or pollen out of your sinuses but make sure your water is purified.
Report Comment
Thanks for your follow up and latest findings, Majia. Indeed, there has been quite an outbreak of Norovirus this year, especially on cruise ships (pretty much at least one ship per week in March, I believe):
http://www.cruiselawnews.com/2012/03/articles/norovirus/ruby-princess-latest-cruise-ship-to-battle-norovirus/
http://www.cruiselawnews.com/2012/03/articles/norovirus/another-princess-cruise-ship-stricken-with-norovirus/
Again, my suspicion is the radiation exposure is either mutating these viruses, causing more virulent forms, or perhaps it is wiping out natural biological agents (i.e. naturally occurring anti-viral and anti-bacterial agents) which exist in our environment, thereby letting the viruses and bacteria (and fungi) normally kept in check by these agents to run amok?
Just some more questions to ponder…
