It appears the official line has gone from ‘too soon to be directly related to Fukushima‘ to ‘unable to say if directly related to Fukushima’

A woman, who was a teenager at the time of the accident, developed thyroid problems and is undergoing a thorough health checkup. Officials were unable to say if her condition is directly related to the nuclear crisis.

That finding is part of the Fukushima government’s report on Nov. 18 on the results of thyroid gland tests for children aged 18 years or under [...]

Perhaps these officials should read this study from 2011: Fingerprint of Radiation Exposure Discovered in Thyroid Cancer

Scientists from the Helmholtz Zentrum München have discovered a genetic change in thyroid cancer that points to a previous exposure of the thyroid to ionising radiation. [...] This breakthrough is the first time since the reactor accident in 1986 that scientists have been able to discriminate between the cancers caused by the radioactive contamination and those that arise naturally. [...]
