Someone double check me on this…I could have sworn he was quoting what "Arizona's Secretary of State" said….

    Which makes it even worse.
    Off the wall shit…damn

  • Well, at least he gives it some visibility, despite the careless comments.

Keep talking Bill. You may get an inadvertent education in the process, and neither you, who lives in California, nor the people of California and Arizona will like what you find out.

Now, anybody wishing evil upon poor misguided Bill can rest easy – he's in the most radioactive part of the west coast and, in accordance with the breadth of his great learning, he doesn't know it.

  • I am starting to think the majority of Americans get, what they think is the 'real' news', primarily from comedians and late night talk shows.

Between MSM's near complete silence, when actually they should be screaming, and talk show hosts misguided misinformation, no wonder everybody remains confused.

"…'A' crippled Japanese nuclear power plant. " (What?)

Sorry Bill, but your feeble understatement is 'crippling' the minds of many who really should know the truth.

Try TRIPLE MELTDOWNS and the continued TRIPLE THREAT from accumulation of radioactive contamination to our air, water and soil with no definitive plans, no information and no cooperation. NONE!

Did I also forget to mention the FACT that the 'situation' has been stated by multiple 'experts', industry professionals, as a "ticking time bomb!". I would go further and say, MULTIPLE ticking time bombs with hair triggers and no obvious 'off' switch.

Except these particular nuclear bombs, (NPPs), are threatening an entire planet.

Reminds me of when John Stewart mentioned Fukushima, once.

Bill Maher's joke is extremely sick. Someone should make him spend 6 months at Fukushima taking care of the children. Then see if he still thinks this is funny.

Sorry to display my ignorance, but I'm not sure what he is talking about. Can someone please explain to me the joke that he was trying to make? (The clip here doesn't provide much context and I haven't been following Arizona news.)

I believe that he thinks living in Arizona is so bad that a crippled japanese reactor will improve things. I live in AZ, and yes it is hot, and dry, but I could go without the fallout.

Ummm … Maher spoke out early on re the Fuku disaster in Japan. He interviewed Michio Kaku 4/15/11. In spite of the humor (and his show is entertainment) I think his views about the accident are clear.

Whether you think he is funny or not …

If that link doesn't work search Real Time with Bill Maher HBO Michio Kaku physicist Fukushima Reactors.

[I am techno challenged and have had to resort to my old dial up connection tonight and tooooo sloooow to do youtube so the url was hand typed in. My cell inet is messed up ... as it has been before during solar flares.]

Respectfully, I am actually wondering why this particular headline was relevant at all to Ene. ???

And if you all must know and didn't google already most recent news I can find is that the AZ sec of state has requested a copy of Obama's birth certificate from from hawaii.

    Denies he's a "birther" tho ..

Again .. relevance to Fuku here?? Respectfully.

Actually, the US does have a nuclear crisis already; it is just covered up and denied.

    nuclear DU testing
    nuclear medicine
    nuclear plants leaking
    nuclear open air tests
    nuclear military/college plants
    uranium mining
    nuclear… ad infinitum…

just the tip of the iceberg above.. see blog below.

Thanks, AGreenRoad. And let's not forget the huge white elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about:

U.S. spent fuel pools are over-crowded, with no plan currently underway to remove and permanently store the spent fuel (highly irradiated nuclear waste), and are projected to reach CAPACITY in THREE YEARS, by 2015!!!

Read this excellent report by Robert Alvarez detailing the problem, as well as an analysis of Fukushima and a comparison of the amount of spent fuel the U.S. has which DWARFS the amount of fuel rods at Fukushima:

      http://www.ips-dc.org/files/3200/spent_nuclear_fuel_pools_in_the_US.pdf

There is even a photo of the explosion at the Reactor #4 spent fuel pool, something I hadn't seen previously. Looks as bad as the explosion at #3 if you ask me…(though Robert titles the photo "hydrogen explosion at Fuel Pool #4", whereas many believe the explosion at #3 was nuclear, due to criticality. Not sure how they determined #4's explosion was indeed due to hydrogen…
