“Bizarre, milky rain” falls for days by most contaminated nuclear site in U.S. — Expert: I’ve never seen anything like it — TV: Very unusual for our area — Nuke lab “didn’t collect enough to analyze… never planned to do real study” on mystery material — NOAA contaminates sample, then loses it (VIDEO)

CNN, Feb 7, 2015 (emphasis added): Mysterious filth rained down… onto Washington and Oregon on Friday… described it as “white stuff” or “milky rain.” Rainwater filling a collector at the NWS [NOAA’s National Weather Service] looked like it was pulled from a muddy river.

Reuters, Feb 10, 2015: “We’re fairly certain it came from Nevada” [NWS] scientist Mary Wister said… federal scientists at the… Hanford nuclear site have suggested… winds may have carried ashfrom Japan‘s Sakurajima volcano… [Wister] cautioned that without a chemical analysis of the milky rain, it would be impossible to pinpoint its origins.

KNDU, Feb 10, 2015: Rare ‘Milky Rain’ Most Likely Traveled From Ancient Lake in Oregonnearly 500 miles away… [The] substance has not yet been scientifically confirmedOriginally, a large storm that hit northwest Nevada was blamed… “But the trajectory just didn’t add up,” said [NWS] meteorologist Mary Wister… “The wind direction would have carried the dust into western Montana.”

Oregonian, Feb 9, 2015: ‘Milky rain’ falling in Oregon, Washington still a big mystery to meteorologists — Meteorologists are stumped by the spooky “milky rain” over the past two days… “There are a whole bunch of theories,” [NWS meteorologist Robert Cramp] said. “But the reports are coming in from a limited area“… concentrated in the Columbia River Basin. — CAPTION: A bizarre, murky rain is reportedly leaving chalky spots on cars… [NWS] is reportedly testing it.

KPLU, Feb 10, 2015: Scientists from the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory [next to Hanford] intend to study the muddy rain this week. They have a theory that the sediment is ash from a Japanese volcano… the Benton Clean Air Agency [Hanford is in Benton County] also intends to test samples. They think the sediment might be from a southeast Oregon lake, a recently burned area in Oregon or possibly even Nevada dust… [NWS] also has a sample, but says it won’t test it… a weather service spokesman said the sample was likely contaminated [and its] whereabouts couldn’t be accounted for.

KUOW, Feb 9, 2015: Much of eastern Washington and Oregon was pelted with a dirty rain, but so far scientists do not agree on a cause… Scientists say… this 200-mile event… is unusual. Pacific Northwest National Laboratoryplans to test samples this week.

Live Science, Feb 13, 2015: Robin Priddy, director of Benton Clean Air [Agency said] it’s unclear where the dust came from, especially since it was a windless day, Priddy told Live Science…  it’s rare to see muddy rain in the winter, and the rain’s mysterious white color still has researchers scratching their headsThough researchers at Benton Clean Air took sampleslab technicians weren’t tasked with figuring out the origins of the sediment… Pacific Northwest National Laboratory also took samples, though later found they didn’t collect enough to analyze, said Mary Beckman, a lab spokeswoman. But the lab never planned to do a real study on the material, she said. “It was purely out of curiosity.”

KNDU, Feb 9, 2015: This… is very unusual for [the Tri-Cities area next to Hanford].

Mary Wister, NOAA NWS: “This is something that I have not personally seen in my career.”

Robin Priddy, Benton Clear Air Agency: “As much dust as we have around… it usually comes in sideways, not from the top when the air is still. Obviously, we were aware something pretty unusual was going on.” >> Watch the broadcast here

Ironic a scientist whom has done tests and found alarming levels of air pollution from all the different radionuclides, is never in a newspaper article being quoted or interviewed on TV. Only one view allowed.

With so much "accidental" loss of these samples or damage/contamination rendering it non-useable, it's as if some people want to do their jobs, yet are prevented. As well as, certain people not wanting to do their jobs or get the real data out to the people. Either way, it's just simply pathetic and I don't care if you are pro-nuke. You should come to the same conclusion. What good is technology that can't be criticized? Not very… [What's pro-nuke even mean? Seriously? I want fusion reactors, of course, just not fission.] No public Japanese or American deserves such people that claim to watch over important aspects of our lives, and yet fail miserably EVERY SINGLE TIME.

      • melting mermaid melting mermaid

Why does he say "anti" nuke like it's a bad word? I'm proud to be antinuclear. They should be ashamed to be pronuclear. "Pro" should be a cuss word about now, IMHO. Pro nuclear means I'm either misinformed or a greedy, homicidally, ecocidally, deranged sociopath in a too compartmentalized field of megalomaniacs. Nuclear means killing. No ands, its, buts about it.

          Ands, ifs or buts.

        • Bones Bones

I think you missed understood me, and that is probably my fault in not explaining myself concisely. Just because I think fusion reactors will be possible, doesn't mean I support fission reactors as we have now. I'd like a distributed network of power generation. Maybe, you just don't know me. I haven't posted in a bit.

          • melting mermaid melting mermaid

Oh no Bones. I was just responding to the Dr good heart article. Not you. I know you're not pronuke. Peace.

          • Gentle Giant Gentle Giant

Or maybe Bones is referring to Andrea Rossi's E-Cat which is being tested for commercial and industrial use right now. Instead of calling it cold fusion, it is called LENR (low energy nuclear reaction). No radio-active substances are needed for the reaction (nickel and a small amount of lithium) and no radio active waste is created after the reaction (only more stable isotopes of nickel, mostly). Excess energy by several hundred percent has been and is being proven and reproducible. It will put the dirty bombing fissioners out of business and give us a chance where we seem to have none at the moment.

            • Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar Praising Jesus

Some scientists have declared it cold fusion, and a nuclear scam:

“…Peter Ekström, lecturer at the Department of Nuclear Physics at Lund University in Sweden, concluded in May 2011, ‘I am convinced that the whole story is one big scam, and that it will be revealed in less than one year.’[16] He cited the unlikelihood of a chemical reaction being strong enough to overcome the Coulomb barrier, the lack of gamma rays, the lack of explanation for the origin of the extra energy, the lack of the expected radioactivity after fusing a proton with 58Ni, the unexplained occurrence of 11% iron in the spent fuel, the 10% copper in the spent fuel strangely having the same isotopic ratios as natural copper, and the lack of any unstable copper isotope in the spent fuel as if the reactor only produced stable isotopes.[16] Kjell Aleklett, physics professor at Uppsala University, said the percentage of copper was too high for any known reaction of nickel, and the copper had the same isotopic ratio as natural copper. He also stated, ‘Known chemical reactions cannot explain the amount of energy measured. A nuclear reaction can explain the amount of energy, but the knowledge we have today says that this reaction cannot take place.’[17] Scientific skeptic James Randi, discussing the E-Cat in the context of previous cold fusion claims, suggested that it will eventually be proven to be a fraud.[18]…

              • Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar Praising Jesus

“Physicists Hanno Essén and Sven Kullander stated that if the claims that they had read about the E-Cat were true, then it must operate through some kind of a nuclear reaction. However, they had no access to privileged information about the catalysts in Rossi's device. According to Kullander it is ‘important to consider the experimental facts and not indulge too much in speculation about what could happen in theory’. Kullander also emphasized that measurements of excess heat must be made accurately and independently: ‘You have to rely on Rossi that he is true to what he conveys and through discussions with him we may try to conclude how reliable the measurements are.’[21][22]
“Theoretical nuclear physicist Yeong E. Kim of Purdue University has proposed a potential theoretical explanation of the reported results of the device,[23] but has stated that, for confirmation of this theory, ‘it is very important to carry out Rossi-type experiments independently.’[24] Kim had previously put forward this theory to explain the results of the discredited Fleischman and Pons cold fusion experiment in 1989.[25]…”

Remember, Hanford has dozens of miles of unlined trenches filled with leaky corroding steel drums filled with unknown types of radioactive wastes. Pics from a whistleblower show the trenches full of drums of nuke waste and being buried by a big excavator. If a private person did this it would be a felony for each occurrence. When DOE contractors illegally bury rad wastes in a shallow unlined trench next to the Columbia River they are just maintaining Standard Operating Procedure for Hanford. Comprehending the volume of death waste produced there is difficult to comprehend. Recall that the Geiger counter was going nuts in that King 5 News "Hanford's Dirty Secrets" episode one, about 1:45 into the video. Airborne radioactive particles and gases are being released from Hanford every second of every day.

Well, I think they will use Japan as the fallback scape goat just in case it's really Hanford or other American nuclear waste/power plant emissions. Must be convenient… Ignore Fukushima for ELEs everywhere in or by the ocean and then when some radioactive mystery fallout is discovered then they have to point their bony nucleoape finger at the Japanese.

As widespread as this milky rain was I expect many samples have been saved, so they can't pull their typical nucleoape sleight of hand shit. Somebody is going to find out what the stuff is and it might not be the red, white, and blue home team scientists. Stay tuned to the underground Internet media. From Tepco’s report published on 2/18 and 2/21/2015, Tritium density reached the highest level at 3 of 12 bypass wells almost at once.

The sampling dates were 2/16 and 2/19/2015.

The contaminated groundwater pumped up from these wells are to be discharged to the Pacific.

These wells are located in the south of the rest of the wells and next to each other. It suggests the groundwater contaminated by Tritium is forming an underground stream.

The readings were 120,000 Bq/m3, 810,000 Bq/m3, and 860,000 Bq/m3. Each of them was the highest reading measured in each bypass well.

I mocked their typical Duuhh lack of response for several days on KOMO comments, and got into several running debates with pro-nukers about it. I never said it was nuclear or radiological in origin, I just said we don't know it isn't and maybe we should. The whole story is just the same casual ignorance that the .gov and Wa Depts have shown to all the strange things happening since Fukushima.
This story and the RR sailors were the last big debates I got into on KOMO, I blasted them with a ton of stuff including a bunch of links to relevant stories here but they posted. Then a day or two later KOMO decided to turn off their commenting system altogether. They say its because of the popularity of Twitter and Facebook, and its become difficult for them to moderate so many comments but they had live real time moderators, at least during normal business hours.
If they didn't like what you were typing they would just erase your whole comment before you could even post it, or you would click Post and it would never appear, trust me I know. Makes me wonder if it really wasn't shut down for too much truth in commenting, or I can hope for an editorial battle between thinkers and deniers.

Experiment studying major West Coast winter storms – Atmospheric Rivers – kicks off this week in California

      January 16, 2015

This week, as planes begin flying through storm clouds over the California coast, a ship set sail from Hawaii towards a destination in the northeastern Pacific. Their passengers aren’t commercial travelers or a pleasure cruisers, but the scientists and sensors involved in CalWater 2015, a two-month research study to investigate how West Coast rain and snow are impacted by atmospheric rivers (intense moisture-bearing winter storms) and aerosols (particles such as dust and pollution).

      An experiment.

What could possibly go wrong… 😐

I don't know why I've been seeing long since forgotten memories on top of the rest of my whole friggin' life flashing before my (mind's)eyes lately[?],but for some reason I'm compelled to tell the short version of the following 😉 On May 3rd 1986 I was 22 and had already been around the block a few times re; my "mind-expansion" phase via extreme indulgence with hallucinogenic substances[surprise, huh?lol]. Anyways,I woke up the girl I shared that long, strange, trippy day with by placing 2 hits of very clean "double-dripped,red dragon blotter 'cid" and a couple hours later shared the peyote buttons I'd scraped the white, fibrous, strychnine"hearts" I'd collected with an Apache friend who found them with me in my dune buggy in the AZ desert nearly a year before and my female "co-pilot" & I jumped on my old Honda SL350 enduro motorcycle & headed down I-55 to Lake Shore Drive("LSD",hehe) and we BOTH began seeing "bright green luminous SNOW" falling & swirling all around us just after dusk on a clear,85 degree day[?!!] We both relayed our experience to others many times without ever coming to any viable conclusion/explanation aside from the obvious influence of the mind-altering drugs, until recently. My theory being that we had indeed been given a glimpse into another, invisible plane of existence or dimension that allowed us to visually SEE the fallout from Chernobyl that we thought was so "cool" at the time 😐 ! It's OT & way off the wall, but I'm…

    • Johnny Blade Johnny Blade

…sharing/posting it anyways 😉 … I wouldn't want to recreate or experience it again in this day & age,but I've rarely,if EVER known of two people in the same "altered state" to be seeing the same damned visual anomalies at the same time without having mentioned or described it until the event was underway or in the past tense[?!]
For the record, I'm sober & free of any vices other than medicinal cannabis & pain meds when I need them and despite being tempted after reading the headlines & comments/discussion threads here sometimes-I still have not begun drinking alcohol or anything else for 2 decades now. It's a good thing too because I'd gotten to the point where I became "an instant asshole, just by adding alcohol" and a MEAN drunk at that!! I don't need that shit & neither does the loved ones who count on me day in & day out anyways! I better sign off now so the breakfast on the stove doesn't burn!!
      PEACE! Blade;OUT

scroll down, they have "Leprechan Green Snow"

      Sounds like California stuff!

  • unincredulous unincredulous

What's the allowable limit of "Bizarre, milky rain?"

Surely someone in government is paid to monitor that, and issue warnings a year or two later.

    • melting mermaid melting mermaid

I don't know , but I'm sure they just raised the allowable levels by a couple zeros if their past actions are any indicator.

      • melting mermaid melting mermaid

Note to self: avoid yellow snow and white rain and orange clouds and pink skies and dairy and blue snow and plants that have been rained on and fish and animals that eat fish or plants that have been rained on…oh, fu$% it.

Very convenient to contaminate sample and then looses it.

What goes up, must come down, could be anything.

Noticing tap water is slightly cloudy and bottle water tasting different, like old socks. Probably needs new filters at the water company.

Still wondering why they don't put drinking water into better jugs. I would rather buy water that's in glass or stainless steel, instead of drinking water that has leaching plastic chemicals.

    • Johnny Blade Johnny Blade

EVERYTHING seems to have a bad taste these days, especially tap water! But much of what's said is being tasted or sensed with regard to food is possibly a psychosomatic response and at least in my case,"in my mind" via the knowledge that when it comes to Fukushima contamination of the food chain,"it's in there"!! 🙁 You don't have to be able to taste, smell or see "Shitium-311"!! Just KNOWING what I know today is far worse than any of the horrors I've ever imagined during even the worst bad acid trip I'd had as a stoner kid in what seems like was a million years ago! I guess there will be an informal trial or "tribunal" held about me now for having admitted to illegal drug use that ended a quarter-century ago[?],but people rush to judgment pretty quickly when it comes to people like me who babble/ramble,but more importantly will tell it like it is or at least the way I see it. I guess that despite there being so much more to me than meets the eye & far beyond the truthful tales I sometimes share holding "too much information",I wouldn't be sharing it if I didn't feel comfortable & safe among "friends"[?] Somehow I'm no longer concerned with the "image" I project anymore since I can sense this "plastic" world & all its robotic mannequins are all about to melt & burn like a nasty hunk of crack on a wad of chore-boy anyway! I can't stand watching my wife rot away from the inside out & die any more than I can stand knowing my living nightmare includes…

      • Johnny Blade Johnny Blade

.everyone on this planet now and I'd unhesitatingly give my own life in a New York second if it would spare any of you good souls and/or your beautiful, innocent children the horrors in store for the inhabitants of this ruined world!! It's not how I pictured things would be to start off the 21st Century, with chaos, death, poisoned environment, food chain & "minds",but I know now that the only way it has even a slim chance of changing course & staving off mass extinction of all living things would require the populace's change of heart, cooperation & mutual understanding for each other & to hold life much more dear & precious than 90% of humanity is willing or even capable of!!! As I hear here often & must agree,"we are all toast"!! 🙁 I love you all & wish you the best even though I may not participate/post much from here on out,but will be lurking & watching things unfold until it's time for me to go…

        • PhilipUpNorth PhilipUpNorth

          Love you Johnny!
          Keep it up. 😉

          Last Chants:
          Here's to Orient, WA. 🙂
Fukushima ruined many things for me.
Wanting to and looking forward to, a visit to Orient, WA, was one of those things.

        • WindorSolarPlease

Johnny Blade I believe you are right, food, soil, and even air all contaminated. Remember it's not important what you did yesterday, it's what you do today that's important. Glad for you that your out of doing drugs.

I doubt anyone will come after you for your youth mistakes. However, they might come after you with drones since you have voiced against Nuclear Power, you never know with these people. Sorry that your family and others have been effected by the radiation that is all around us.
          Thank you JB

Oh, I never trusted water inside the bottles from the store. I've seen an operation like that, and they're filled too quickly after they're made, then sealed. Wonderful.

      Yes! Glass!

My ex and I owned a BYOB 'water store'. The water in the area in most cases and from any utility supplier was pretty bad. The old-timers used ice and lemon. To me, that's for alcohol. At any rate we sold plastic bottles for their durability and ease. We used them, too, but we'd let bottles sit for some days before we sold them. One's got to be careful of what goes into a stainless bottle. Not all water is as innocuous as it seems where metals are concerned. They're still better than plastic.

I won't look for a link, but it seems that all our bloodsteams have traces of those plastics…and pesticides, herbicides…

    • How does one 'contaminate' a sample like that?

it would be interesting to hear the 'story' about losing it, or contaminating it, etc.

      These are the PROFESSIONALS.

      Not amateurs.

Maybe they need to try a different job.

      Like dishwashing.

      Like cleaning floors.

You can lose and contaminate samples of dirt.. no problem.

      • WindorSolarPlease

        Dr. Goodheart

Sorry I don't buy into this either. They are professionals. Sounds like someone got orders from high up to dispose of.

First of all, I believe they would take more than one sample. Unless their goal was never to test.

        • Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar Praising Jesus

I strongly suspect that they did test their samples. And then, rather than to report what they found they decided that what they found was contaminated. And they they said they lost them. Must have been all the radionichlide and chemical soup from both Fukushima and Hanford and maybe some chemtrails and pesticides and depleted uraniumfrom the military range to the north and west of Hanford and herbicides, dioxins, etc., etc…… And then the cheesy lesions from all the radioactive, dying marine life, and mutated vegetation…..

The NOAA is rune by a stolid, immovable, ugly (I mean from the inside) creature named Jane Lubchenko. Saw her on t.v. following the Gulf Oil disaster, when the NOAA had nothing helpful to offer about that either.

I remember that it used to be the Repubs who would deliberately put people to head agencies who believed that there should be no such public protection and their job was just to route the nation into private hands. Like Reagan with the Education Department, or W. with Gail Norton and the Department of Interior. Now that we have much closer to a one-party system (though would not downplay the social issues — there are differences,) Jane Lubchenko heads NOAA, Gina McCarthy the EPA, and Steven Chu was the first head of the Energy Dept under Obama — Chu who gest his grant money from BP. His parting gift was to authorize using radioactive metals for the likes of belt buckles, dishes and spare parts.

It's like a sci-fi horror story. Can only hope that some powerful being of great Grace will shower us with wonderful pure energy to at least dispel some of which wrongly bombards us every day.

It is almost funny… These same idiots want to go full nuke power steam ahead into the future.

If there is a future to go into.

Meanwhile, the climate news is getting more dire every year. Really frightening this year.

Water is running out globally too

And most other key resources are mined out as well.

Still, we are addicted to our consumer disposable lifestyles and the energy that drives it.

We have a mad cap capitalist leadership that only wants to get richer still.

    We're doomed

I did get this dirty rain in my town and I was on a jog in it. When I came out of the gym later on, I noticed my truck was indeed covered in this fine dirt. At the time I thought, "Wow, that rain was filthy!" Honestly, I blew it off as I live in the Eastern Oregon Desert and dirty rain is nothing new but this was a finer "dirt" no doubt. A buddy of mine sent me a link that next day that people had been wondering why it was so fine and if it was from a Volcano in Japan. Curious, (24 hours later) I got out my Terra-P Doismeter and checked for unusual Gamma and Beta rays. I got Nothing unusual. The normal background for my town. Inside .08-.12 and outside .10-.14. I've been taking readings for just over a year now. It doesn't check for Alpha.

"Pacific Northwest National Laboratory also took samples, though later found they didn’t collect enough to analyze, said Mary Beckman, a lab spokeswoman. But the lab never planned to do a real study on the material, she said. “It was purely out of curiosity.” "

The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (www.pnnl.gov) is a government "research" laboratory run by the Dept of Energy. Evidently pissing away money & resources on half-hearted lab experiments done out of idle curiosity, when and if they feel like it, is the norm for another taxpayer funded sham agency.

The charade—er,research, that is—goes like this: They pass around samples of the material to two teams of blindfolded "scientists" who take turns guessing what it is. Whichever team comes up with the most benign and uncontroversial answer gets treated to lunch by the losing team. Anyone who guesses that it has anything to do with nuclear contamination or atmospheric testing of bio/chemical weapons is automatically disqualified and subject to round-the-clock surveillance.

Regrettably, they weren't able to play the game—er, conduct the research, that is—because the pitifully inadequate sample was accidentally mixed up with samples from another highly sensitive and top secret experiment (which will, nevertheless, continue uninterrupted by a little inconvenience like irremediable contamination).

This comment on Zero Hedge wonders what happens in Tenn. at the failing Boone dam (near many NPPs) when the snow melts.

Seems like Climate Change may be the prime culprit here yet again.

Western Drought Dust Bowl like conditions brought about this White Rain.

Read up on the Dust Bowl. We are living it here in the West again.

We have had dust storms close freeways where I live for hours. (never happened before – bad agricultural practices are partially to blame too)

I know many here reject it (man made climate change) on here. But again and again, it is the better explanation of the terrible phenomena we are seeing strike the West Coast.

And meaning, that it is not the horrible FUFU that is the prime driver of these impacts.

we may profit from a Deus ex machina ending when the collider goes out of control and we launch unwittingly a new big bang…To start all over again with a new cast of characters…Who would mourn an ending like that???We would never know what happened… As things go now.We can clearly see the future and it is a total disaster..

  • We Not They Finally

well before i met my wife. I was in India and had a clear vision of the world panic which was about to happen..So none of this nuclear nonsense has been any surprise..From the days of "Safe nuclear energy" I knew mankind would sooner or later would destroy himself…This is now the death of our Ocean food chain and mass loss of the worlds oxygen being replaced with methane. It would be merciful to stop this progression to disaster with the mercy of God.

"KUOW, Feb 9, 2015: Much of eastern Washington and Oregon was pelted with a dirty rain, but so far scientists do not agree on a cause… Scientists say… this 200-mile event… is unusual. Pacific Northwest National Laboratory… plans to test samples this week."

    It is March 2 now.

And new deal, to replace the 'delayed deal' to clean up one pool at Hanford, WA. Only 125,000 dollar fine for delay..'sweet deal!'

Just a heck of a lot more clean up needed..but the government officials delay delay. Anyone living near a nuclear facility, you know the ones with the promises of safe operation and clean up at end of operations..should keep a close eye on Hanford!!!
