  • How strange that they could build the parking lot without discovering it. Perhaps even more strange is that these news organizations via their "reporting" deem an unexposed bomb from WW2 more important that the melt-throughs and ongoing catastrophic contamination for over six years.

    • KAT, this is exactly what went through my head.
How did they miss it earlier? — like, years ago?

The only nuclear bombs on 3/11/11 were the reactors that should have been shut down because they had failed safety checks many, many times. It was a well-published scandal before 3/11/11. Unit 4 not only had MOX fuel, the reactor containment was cracked before it was even installed when the reactor building was brand new. These BWR were NEVER designed to contain MOX fuel which detonates at a much lower temperature than uranium. That's why they build nuclear bombs with plutonium.

The 9.0 earthquake caused by the full moon, CERN and JPARC testing and by the stress on dams in India which had huge rain storms (caused by global warming) broke all the cooling pipes at the 4 reactors ofkshiam Daini and reactors in Tokai including experimental reactors, 15 reactors in total along the eastern North Japan shore long before the tsunami hit.

Russia also has taken credit for the earthquake, but that is probably just bravado.

The BWR were never built to withstand such a big earthquake and should never have been installed on an island which continually sustained huge arthquakes. Also huge tsunamis have historically hit Japan so the earthquake ad tsunami on 3/11/11 were no surprise. Leuren Moret had warned Japan and the whole world knew that the Fukushima plants were the most dangerous in the world and just waiting for a natural disaster.

According to Yoichi Shimatsu and Yoshi the Japanese were buiding bombs in the basement of Unit 4.

      • Well, I like to remind people that Japan's 64 reactors are located by tsunami zones, on or by multiple earthquake faults, and/or by active volcanoes.

You don't need long range nuclear missiles to hurt us, just wait for those aging 64 to self-destruct … or help them along … doesn't take much to figure out what a power mad dictator would do …just ask our presidents from 1900 to 2017.

The Israelis were credited with preemptive kidnappings by the Reagan/Bush administration, which the subsequent Bush administrations put into effect along with airborne torture chambers … and now our intelligence forces are hacking foreign reactors with cyber attacks … I think there's an enenews newswire release on that someplace in my grey matter.

After all, how can there be a north korea and south Korean in the first place? And, all the GE reactors in the U.S. like those in Japan have quietly settled lawsuits … that's somewhere in a comment section on one of the 9,000 enenews newswire posts …just can't put my finger on it.

Hanford's one of those, too, isn't it. And Bonneville Power company currently operates a nuclear reactor on the Hanford site. And nearby Hanford, babies are being born without brains.

      • Isn't oxygen-enriched uranium fuel Mox? Isn't that used to make clean bombs …that leave no measurable evidence after several weeks. Imagine what short lived dangerous radionuclides they are using, and remember that using Mox fuel at that site was illegal.

      • dosdos dosdos

Unit 3 was using MOX, Unit 4 was using LEU, not MOX.

        • And that's why unit three exploded in a detonation and the inner core exited the building destroying the fuel pool…

Mox? Plutonium? Pop goes the weasel…

Unit 4 burned for days with a fresh offload of fuel, doesn't even matter what brand or mix it was..

          Snap crackle pop…

“…Obviously, the installation of a new shroud was not a mere replacement of a worn predecessor. It was an upgrade. The refit of Reactor 4 was, therefore, similar to the 2010 conversion of Reactor 3 to pluthermal or MOX fuel. The same model of GE Mark 1 reactor was being revamped to burn MOX fuel (mixed oxide of uranium and plutonium).

The World is Powerless Against Fukushima Fallout
            by Yoichi Shimatsu
            5 March 2012

“…According to whistleblowers in the U.S. non-proliferation agency, highly reactive uranium from dismantled U.S. warheads stored in the Fukushima spent-fuel pools readily ignited after the quake knocked out the water pumps. A transport casket of elongated shape resembling a missile was sky-hooked out of a pool by helicopter soon after the tsunami, but the remainder of the weapons-grade stock was too heavy to remove. The series of detonations prevented repair crews from accessing controls of the reactor cores, which eventually melted through the containment chambers and into the subsurface soil.

“When the quake and tsunami hit on March 11, only three reactors out of a total six at Fukushima were scheduled to produce electricity yet in actuality five were operational. Since then plant workers disclosed that the supposedly empty Reactor 4 had been refitted with a new steel shroud in secret by GE and that it was fully loaded with new fuel rods. The two extra reactors were running clandestine operations, the likeliest purpose being the enrichment of uranium prior to extraction. By no coincidence, Hitachi Electric and Honeywell are partners in developing a laser-plasma system to extract highly pure plutonium and uranium …”

The load that was removed from the core of Unit 4 was an activated load of LEU, not spent fuel, which is why they were so worried about it. It makes no sense to refit a reactor to MOX while a load of hot LEU is sitting in the SFP. And it makes even less sense to load MOX into an SPF with a hot load of LEU.

And there is only one kind of MOX. And there is only one active production facility for commercial MOX in the entire world, and that is in France. And they make only one kind of MOX. No one else is currently making MOX.

Your claim makes absolutely no sense. It reeks of a wild conspiracy theory with no factual basis.

Anne, I'm glad you're getting an arborist to work on your tree. It needs much more than deadwood removal. It has major structural flaws. In fact it is a 12 on the international scale of tree hazard assessment…out of a possible 12!!!
It has what's called co-dominant stems- that major fork just above ground level. It's a major failure point. Weakest joint possible. Pattern repeats up above. Many failure points.
Also, the top one third of the tree consists of sprouts from old topping cuts (topping is bad practice)that are weakly attached. More failure points.
Needs crown reduction, thinning, branch shortening. Tree does have the reach to hit the yellow house if it fails at the major fork. Your liability.
There's your lethal stalker on stilts.

So how do you even know what my tree looks like? The tree surgeon pruned 400 trees for the city this year. He was recommended by the city. He knows what the city wants and he is a licensed tree surgeon and I already asked him to cut off the large section that is hanging over my neighbor's yard. He knows how the city wants all the tall trees preserved and how to do it.

As for the rest, even if you've been staring at my yard, your diagnosis of my tree isn't correct at all. Longmont 2 years ago had a drop of 70 degrees in one day and it killed a lot of branches and then the heavy snowfalls in fall and spring broke off branches. The problematic branches are on the west side where all the winter winds blow. I always was going to get a tree surgeon, I just did as much as I could to save money as the charge is by the hour.

I'm following the city's recommendations, not yours.

The tree hasn't been professionally pruned in 20 years before I bought my house. The person to the north owned both lots so he didn't care if the tree was over the north lot. And it hasn't done any damage in the last 20 years. But I asked the tree surgeon to cut it off and he said the new growth wouldn't be falling down from heavy snows. He said the trees are very resilient and would correct for any imbalance.

Wow, Anne, you're a funny person! How do I know what your tree looks like? Do you recall a few days ago when you and two other people posted the same picture of your yard?
How do I know your tree is a major problem from a picture? It's that obvious! I wouldn't climb that sucker without first installing a temporary rope cable. Tree needs a permanent cable, after it's trimmed. We use nylon now.
LOLOL–>It hasn't dropped branches in 20 years? They never do…until they do!
That major basal fork is the main worry. Why it needs a cable…

You can't see my house in that photo, and you can't see which tree it is. The front trees are all pruned every years free by the city. And the tree surgeon will be using the high aerial truck in Boulder County and he has permission from my neighbors to take the truck off the street to get close to the tree.

And the photo is very old. Pruning on the street has been done several times since the photo was taken by Google.

And posting my voter registration info. and a Google photo of my property I'm sure is a privacy and harassment of my rights. Why put my voter registration with my party affiliation and my house address on the internet except for threats and harassment?

But the Longmont Police didn't come running out, because someone else did that last fall and it was a bogus report and it is a bogus report today as well. It is against the law to file bogus reports. I proved it last year and I will prove it again this year and it is obvious that I'm being harassed. And I'm sorry if I got upset but filing false reports to the police as AirSepTech did today is an attempt to destroy me. And I haven't charged anyone specifically with anything, but AirSepTech has so no one can say that I'm making it up. And Social Services will be calling me next week sometime. So he can't pretend that he didn't do it.

And you can't give advice on a tree you've never seen, so how about apologizing for that.

    • Roger that. Might be trying to set a precedent. Makes no sense at all, does it — as I recall at one point "they" wanted to blow it up to fix it. At another point, they wanted to freeze it. Then, they wanted to encase it. But most importantly, they want to lie about it and deceive the world at the cost of the health of the Japanese population, and the U.S. population, and the population of Canada.

      • Encase it? Freeze it? Pure disinformation that should offend anyone with a working brain…

It has been long theorized that Fukushima was blown up on purpose with Nuclear Devices planted by YOU KNOW WHO. I have looked at a lot of the evidence and I am convinced that it was an act of eco-terrorism . How in the Blank did Unit Four Blow sky high when it didn't even have fuel in it???? And why in the blank did they censor that video of it blowing up. They showed us 1 and 3. Answer that god dam question. And Unit 2 was the only building that didn't have any obvious explosive damaged could this be the dud that was meant to take it out. Critical thinking is needed here folks.

    • FaunaLord Farthington MacMananus

      I don't believe in "coincidences", so…

    • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

Its not plausible nefarious forces could time the bombing of Fukushima with the tsunami. Unless the tsunami was caused by multiple underwater nuclear explosions…a theory of yore.

The little missile they found is not what is required to blow up the buildings as evidenced by their destruction; blown from the inside with a pressure blast.

    • Broken stack pipe (from the earthquake) that allowed hydrogen to flow in to the 4 building form 3?

And how about a full core offload that was so hot the fuel pool was at it's cooling capacity before the power was lost?

There's nothing noble about a noble gas and the off gassing of volatile gasses from those fuel bundles was enormous containing all kinds of very unstable flammable gasses all interacting with each other to some degree, noble or not…

Multiple reasons and problems for that explosion (#4)…

But it's kinda like trying to explain it's cousin cancer….

Many factors involved and fertile ground for assumption and disinformation.

That pool (#4) burned for days and is documented to have done so…

And it's common sense (and well documented in tests) for anyone that understands a fresh offload and no cooling circulation…

      • AirSepTech AirSepTech

"Broken stack pipe (from the earthquake) that allowed hydrogen to flow in to the 4 building form 3?"

That is an exceptionally stupid statement. Mind explaining?

Upper/lower explosive limits of H2? How it must be handled?
Containment and transfer of 'wild' H2? How to do it?
Explosion of #3, documented, and no effect on #4, full of H2? hahaha

It is very clear you have massive confusion re the properties of H2.

Sadly, there are some things you state I 'could' agree with.
The problem is, there is so much nonsense.

It brings much 'discredit' to your overall attempt to communicate.

        Very unfortunate. 🙁

        • "That is an exceptionally stupid statement. Mind explaining?"

          Not at all 🙂 😉

So the technical question on prevention (for all other reactor sites) is?

          Drum roll please…

Did the earthquake make the stacks sway back and forth and cause the joints (or other connections) to fail? Yepper the stack supports were broken…

And then the two sections fell away from each from the feed at ground level?

Couldn't break the bladder at the top of the stack for lack of proper pressure (completely insane safety device by the way)?

Pipe failure in a manner that allowed the gases to blow freely at ground level from 3 to (towards or into) the 4 building??

There was enough already going on at 4 with a fresh offload in the fuel pool…

          Loss of circulation too???

          No power???

No way to get water to it?

          #4 fuel pool???

Explain what happens with 'no balloon'. 😉

You believe 'uncontained' H2 is going to 'hug the ground' and move horizontally how far? About works for me.

Explain where the pressure comes from 'to' move it, while it 'is' uncontained.

Fair warning: I filled a few H2 tanks/cylinders, including the space shuttle. An interesting situation, considering you have 500,000 gallons of H2&O2 'hanging out' together.

            Give it your best shot.

          • AirSepTech AirSepTech

            Experiment for the MumbleMutt:

Take 2 He balloons out to the back 40.

            Place on ground, secured.

With dexterity and purpose, release 1 balloon skyward, intact.

At nearly the 'same' moment, 'pop' the 2nd balloon.
To the best of your ability, attempt to 'heard sideways' the invisible He, while watching 1st balloon rise up and out of site. Imagine, there is a container to put some of it in 50 yards away.

How much He do you think 'followed' the 1st balloons ascent skyward, that you were hearding sideways, 'uncontained' from the 'popped' balloon?

It was once applied to people with an IQ of 51–70, being superior in one degree to "imbecile" (IQ of 26–50) and superior in two degrees to "idiot" (IQ of 0–25). The word moron, along with others including, "idiotic", "imbecilic", "stupid", and "feeble-minded", was formerly considered a valid descriptor in the psychological community'

Now if you dont know, you cant really call other people spinners of fairy tales, can you? So go ahead, have at it

Code, why don't bridge, railroad and highway engineers take the curvature of the earth into account? Never have. Still don't.

                    • Jebus Jebus

Too short a distance to matter unless you are building a particle accellerator that spans miles.

The curvature, from a human perspective, is less than a millimeter per 120 meters or so.

A long span of bridge pilings will be slightly angled away from each other at the top, from our perspective of vertical, but it won't be enough to matter…

Why do microwave engineers have to take the curvature of the earth into consideration when setting up equipment?

                    • SadieDog

Too short a distance to matter? 8" per mile squared. The mile is squared. Try again.

Sadie, what do you mean? the steel is flexible enough…in fact not even made straight enough, to matter. Its only 2 inches bulge over a mile? I read that 'the design of long bridges, like the Verrazano–Narrows Bridge in New York and the Humber Bridge in England, must take into account the Earth's curvature. In the case of the Verrazano, its two towers are 1 5⁄8 inches farther apart at their tops than at their bases, and in the Humber's case, the difference is 1.3 inches.'

Satellite global positioning system.., not only do they have to take into account the curve of the earth, but Einsteins relativity

I dont like your game, but…at least you are happy

Probably a stupid question but would the spreading pattern of radionuclear pollution not be different if Earth was not a sphere ?

                    • SadieDog

                      1) The Verrezano Narrows bridge is a tension bridge. Next. Known for being the longest single span suspension bridge in the world.
                      2) The sun is 40 times bigger than the moon? And exactly 400 times farther away than the moon? What a co-ink-e-dink.
                      3) Don't forget, there is no up or down in space. There is no top or bottom in space. There is no North, East, West or South. Fucking fact!

when Sadie and GOM pitched flat and hollow earth, they crossed the line into undisputed troll territory. GOM is supposed to be in the medical field…a professional. Making the right decisions in a hospital, then musing that we live in a hollow earth? No way man.

They cant see they bring bad credibility and mojo, or they do see it. Uber idiots or trolls.

To make the point clear…since its a dog theme…there is an expert..the dog whisperer, Cesar Millan. Dog lovers should watch some of his stuff. But what if he said at night, the dogs floated up to the moon and slept there till morning? You would say he is crazy and nobody would buy his word or videos. Now what if you were on a blog of dog lovers and there was a theme, saying dogs are aliens from mars. You would say the blog is full of idiots and you wouldnt believe anything..wouldnt watch it.

Thats what Hippie Dog and Sadie and GOM and a few others… they destroy OTHER peoples posts, by proxy. In defense, they say fuck off, but thats not a good enough answer for me. The destruction is there, no doubt about it

Flat-Earth ? Its the "work" of a cult-leader..why do cult-leaders do that ? To divide their followers from mainstream common sense , decrease the influence from mainstream and increase your own on them..
                Look at me i'm a rebel..follower..

Zion and psyop combined , even when its a coincidence in name only , it never fails to give me the shivers..

Wilbur Glenn Voliva (March 10, 1870 – October 11, 1942[1]) was an evangelist and a prominent proponent of Flat Earth theories.

Voliva was born on a farm in Indiana on Mar. 10, 1870. In 1889, he entered Union Christian College, Merom Indiana; he graduated five years later and became a minister. In 1898 he was drawn to the teachings of John Alexander Dowie and eventually joined his congregation, becoming an elder of the Christian Catholic Church of Zion, Illinois. In 1901 he emigrated to Australia to become overseer-in-charge of the Australian branch.

                    Are there pillars of Mars?

David Bowie – Life on Mars? (Lyrics)

                    • DUDe DUDe

Heya Heart , such a great song , one of my favorites from the master..interpretations of the art are in many directions..

Your question wants me to focus on …?

                      ""Life On Mars?"

                      It's a god-awful small affair
To the girl with the mousy hair
But her mummy is yelling, "No!"
And her daddy has told her to go
But her friend is nowhere to be seen
Now she walks through her sunken dream
To the seat with the clearest view
And she's hooked to the silver screen

But the film is a saddening bore
For she's lived it ten times or more
She could spit in the eyes of fools
As they ask her to focus on

Sailors fighting in the dance hall
                      Oh man!
                      Look at those cavemen go
                      It's the freakiest show
Take a look at the Lawman
                      Beating up the wrong guy
Oh man! Wonder if he'll ever know
He's in the best selling show
                      Is there life on Mars?

                      It's on America's tortured brow
That Mickey Mouse has grown up a cow
Now the workers have struck for fame
                      'Cause Lennon's on sale again
See the mice in their million hordes
From Ibiza to the Norfolk Broads
Rule Britannia is out of bounds
To my mother, my dog, and clowns

But the film is a saddening bore
'Cause I wrote it ten times or more
It's about to be writ again
As I ask you to focus on

                      Bowie at his best.

He taught himself piano to play on the album. He had some coaching by Rick Wakeman. So much talent.

                      And among those famous lines,

"Will all the cacti find a home"

Sorry, that was Rick Wakeman playing on Hunky Dory. Bowie mastered the piano better later on. He composed on piano and guitar.

                      Slow Burn

Here shall we live in this terrible town
Where the price for our minds
shall squeeze them tight like a fist
And the walls shall have eyes
And the doors shall have ears
But we'll dance in their dark
And they'll play with our lives

                      Like a Slow Burn
Leading us on and on and on
                      Like a Slow Burn
Turning us round and round and round Hark who are we
So small in times such as these
                      Slow Burn
                      Slow Burn

These are the strangest of all
                      These are the nights
These are the darkest to fall
                      But who knows?
                      Echoes in tenement halls
                      Who knows?

Sounds like code wrote that article, "If you are currently a believer in the flat earth theory, we have a challenge for you. We challenge you to actually do your own research. Go out into the world and conduct your own experiments based on physics itself. If you’re being intellectually honest, and what you find doesn’t disprove any and all flat earths theories, I suggest you look for help. However, I am quite certain this will not be the case.

Generally speaking, I have found that those who perpetuate the position of the flat earth theory have two things in common, or two things tend to be true. Number 1, they have a vested interest (a monetized YouTube video with millions of views = $$$) or they have been spewing out [dis]information for a long time, and are not realizing it is okay to be wrong sometimes. Science has been wrong before, and since science is merely a tool to understand the world around us, it does develop as understanding(s) improve.

Imagine that!? Sometimes, people are just plain wrong! That’s okay! Human’s are imperfect creatures, as long as we learn and grow from it. It is when someone is faced with pure evidence and fact, and still denies it, that a problem occurs."

I think it's the people doing the research that have the questions DUDe.

What is the date of the report? Interesting that report shows on page 5 that the plants were built on soft sediment and not the granite further inland.

      • HoTaters HoTaters

Hello Sol Man. I think Cooter recently stated the plant was built on argillite.

Argillite is a fine grained clay sedimentary rock, or "highly indurated mudstone."

This statement is in regard to the Argillite found in New Zealand:

"Argillite is highly indurated mudstone. Along with greywacke, it comprises the basement rock of New Zealand, and so is an important rock type throughout the country. Because it has been subjected to significant amounts of tectonic movement over a long period of time (some New Zealand argillite is over 300 million years old), argillite is commonly extremely deformed, fractured, and veined. Although similar to shale, argillite is generally not fissile, i.e. does not preferentially break along closely spaced bedding planes. It differs from slate in its lack of foliation."

        Good work, Cooter.

Cooter mentioned the argillite is likely very fractured from the 2011 earthquake and aftershocks.

"About three hours after the blaze erupted Wednesday, Japan’s nuclear safety agency said flames could no longer be seen at Unit 4. But it was unable to confirm that the blaze had been put out, and clouds of white smoke were billowing from the reactor, according to live video footage of the plant."

UPDATED 6:35 P.M. EST – The latest news from Japan’s Fukushima Diiachi power plant is mixed, with a reactor building fire extinguished but power-failure-induced cooling problems now affecting parts of all six units.
A fire is no longer burning at unit 4, although reports conflicted Tuesday on the fire's exact location within the plant. At a press conference Director General Yukiya Amano said the fire had occurred in the spent-fuel tank, which likely created the spike in radiation observed outside the unit. Earlier, the Nuclear Energy Institute quoted plant owner Tokyo Electric Power Co. as saying that the fire burned in a corner of the fourth floor of the reactor building and not inside the spent fuel tank."

On 15 March, an explosion damaged the fourth floor rooftop area of the unit 4 reactor…",_5_and_6

OT – Just got back from a motorcycle trip. I went to spray some lube into the ignition key hole and the seat lock key hole. When I shot the lube into the seat lock it went right in my eye. I went in and rinsed my eye in the sink.

My eyes have been dry the last few days and red. It really didn't hurt when I shot my eye full of the lube. As a matter of fact, I was lucky it bounced off the lock before rebounding up into my eye. The lube contains propellant, and a shot right into the eye might have done some real damage.

After rinsing my eye, I realized that my eye actually felt better than before or during the last few days. This lube is amazing! It's called Houdini four way lubricant. It's citrus based. I got it at a professional locksmith shop.

I highly recommend it. It doesn't gum up your ignition. I bought it last winter to keep the ignition from freezing.

This is the closest thing to an advertisement you will ever see from me. I don't sell the stuff. Just, wow. They should spray this lube on Fukushima NPP. Couldn't hurt.

Hi Uni, Range 4 is a gamma range. stock or Vital1 could explain better.

As I understand it (and I'm not an expert), different isotopes fall in different ranges.

When you see something like this:

Average 147(CPM of Gamma in energy range 600-800keV)

It's measuring an energy range that typically indicates the presence or absence of Cesium. I'm not sure what the other energy signatures mean.

If you look up information on Gamma Spectroscopy, you can find better information. stock may have this information posted, along with an explanation of which isotopes fall within each energy range.

There is a fellow who posts to YouTube who explains this well, too. I think he used to post here. Antiprotons. I like his work.

Here's a video explaining Gamma Spectroscopy basics:

          • HoTaters HoTaters

Gamma ranges are broken down on RadNet. The range typically reported on NETC is the 600-800 range, which may indicate the presence of Cesium.

Each range may indicate the presence of a different type of isotope or isotopes. stock and Vital1 can provide better and more accurate technical information on this.

Here's a good explanation from YouTube on Gamma Spectroscopy readings. Hope this goes through; my original post got dumped due to a database error.

Japan, like France, has a recycling policy:
Treatment of spent fuel is currently carried out at AREVA’s La Hague plant. All vitrified waste from Japanese spent fuel that is treated at La Hague is returned to Japan for disposal. Japan is AREVA’s second-ranked customer for recycling, after EDF.
The group operates a technology transfer program and is accompanying JNFL (Japan Nuclear Fuel Limited) in the construction of a spent fuel treatment plant on the Rokkasho-Mura site, a "Sister Plant" to the La Hague facility. The treatment capacity of the new plant will be around 800 tons of spent fuel per year.

In October 2009, the first MOX (Mixed Oxide Fuel) fuel assemblies for the Japanese utility company Kyushu were loaded into the core of reactor no. 3 at the Genkai nuclear power plant, followed by a series of power production tests in November and an increase to full reactor operating capacity on December 2nd, 2009. This marked the first time that MOX fuel was used to generate electricity in Japan. The utilization of MOX fuel in Japan is the result of 30 years of fruitful collaboration between AREVA and the Japanese utility companies.

7 Japanese utility companies have currently signed contracts for the fabrication of MOX fuel.

    • HillbillyHoundDog HillbillyHoundDog

Transnuclear Tokyo, in which AREVA holds a 47.5% interest, specializes in logistics and in designing casks for transporting and storing nuclear materials. In complement to the recycling capacities presently being built in Japan, spent fuel storage facilities will also be needed; this will open a new market in which the Logistics Business Unit is hoping to obtain a significant share.

  • HillbillyHoundDog HillbillyHoundDog

Fuel manufacturing is dominated by Japanese players. That said, in December 2008, AREVA, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI), Mitsubishi Material Corporation (MMC) and Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) signed a 4-way agreement to create MNF, a company specialized in the manufacture of nuclear fuel. MNF will develop, design, produce and market nuclear fuel.

In 2009, the Japanese company Kansai-Sojitz signed an agreement with AREVA to obtain a 2.5% share in the capital of the Tricastin Enrichment Company (SET), which operates the Georges Besse II enrichment plant.

CEZUS, an AREVA subsidiary that has been in Japan for more than 20 years, directly and indirectly supplies a significant share of the zirconium consumed in Japan. In September 2009, CEZUS obtained a 33% share in the capital of Zircoproducts, the Japanese tube manufacturer. This company has long been a customer of CEZUS and is the first fuel assembly cladding manufacturer on the Japanese market, holding a market share of nearly 75%. By means of this alliance, AREVA will considerably strengthen its share of the market in Japan while developing industrial synergies with its European plants.

CERCA, an AREVA subsidiary and global leader in manufacturing fuel for research reactors, supplies 100% of the Japanese market.

    Quality data falsification crisis[edit]

Main article: Sellafield § MOX fuel quality data falsification

In 1999 it was discovered that BNFL staff had been falsifying some MOX fuel quality assurance data since 1996.[3] A Nuclear Installations Inspectorate (NII) investigation concluded that "the level of control and supervision … had been virtually non-existent."[4] BNFL had to pay compensation to the Japanese customer, Kansai Electric, and take back a flawed shipment of MOX fuel from Japan.[5] BNFL's Chief Executive John Taylor resigned,[6] after initially resisting resignation when the NII's damning report was published.[7][8]

As a consequence of this crisis, a possible partial privatisation of BNFL was delayed by two years.[9][10][11]

In 1999 BNFL acquired Westinghouse Electric Company,

Around 11 metric tons of plutonium may be possessed by Japan alone, with 36 tons pending return after reprocessing in Britain and France. This is probably enough to make 6,000 atomic bombs.[143]

The usual transportation of plutonium is through the more stable plutonium oxide in a sealed package. A typical transport consists of one truck carrying one protected shipping container, holding a number of packages with a total weight varying from 80 to 200 kg of plutonium oxide. A sea shipment may consist of several containers, each of them holding a sealed package.[144] The United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission dictates that it must be solid instead of powder if the contents surpass 0.74 TBq (20 Curie) of radioactive activity.[145] In a recent example, the ships Pacific Egret[146] and Pacific Heron of Pacific Nuclear Transport Ltd. are taking 331 kg (730 lbs) of plutonium to a United States government facility in Savannah River, South Carolina.[147][148]"

"In 2006 DOE decided to split the WSRC contract into two new separate contracts, i.e. the M&O Contract and the Liquid Waste Contract to be awarded before June 2008. Responding to the DOE RFP, the Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS), LLC – now a Fluor partnership with Honeywell, and Huntington Ingalls Industries (formerly part of Northrop Grumman) – submitted a proposal in June 2007 for the new M&O Contract.[17][18] A team led by URS and including many of the WSRC partners also submitted a proposal. On January 9, 2008 it was announced that SRNS LLC had won the new contract, with a 90-day transition period to start 24 January 2008. However, the transition was delayed by a protest filed with GAO by the URS team on 22 January 2008. The GAO denied the protest on 25 April. DOE-SR then directed SRNS to start transition on 2 May and take over operation on 1 August 2008."

IAEA blames operator for Paks-2 fuel damage. Time pressure,
underestimation of safety consequences by both operator and
regulators, and overconfidence in vendor Framatome ANP were
major factors in the 10 April fuel damage incident at Hungary's
Paks-2 reactor, an IAEA expert mission has concluded. The team
said those factors contributed to a weak assessment of a new
design and operation. It concluded that "neither the Hungarian
Atomic Energy Authority (HAEA) nor Paks used conservative
decision-making in their safety assessments for this unproven
fuel cleaning system". Paks and Framatome are still debating
the accident sequence, the tank remains in the fuel transfer
pool, and the closed reactor is costing Paks US$ 225,000 a day.
The IAEA team concluded also that personnel involved did not
receive adequate training. A video inspection has recently
shown that all 30 fuel elements inside the container were

My guess is that Dai-ichi has added almost the same amount of radionuclides to the environment as the atomic bomb testing did in the sixties. More man-made radioactive fallout will cause declining health and more deaths that the public won't be able to connect to nuclear activities. Of course they lie; the public is paying the bill. Good job ya’ll at pointing out the companies profiting and the unanswered questions surrounding the big nuclear secrets game. Glad to see ENENewsers digging up the information that Nukers try to bury with misleading PR bs. MOX fuel leaves a big meltdown mess and Fukushima is making nuclear energy look bad, so bad that people will demand an end to nuclear before nuclear ends us. The Ocean is dying and cancer is increasing. Holding a Geiger counter probe up in the air to measure an external gamma dose presents reassuring data against the background noise. Horse, I'm also wondering about the #4 SFP fuel removal. Knowing now how many times it burned or smoldered, it's hard to believe they could move anything. And the videos of the new looking building make me wonder if it was a farce, a PR effort.

What I'd really like to know is: if Tepco wasn't removing nuclear fuel from the SFP (and we had discussed whether or not that was actually the utility pool), then what was actually going on?

The highest U.S. radiation spikes I've seen on the West Coast of the U.S., and I think the all-time NETC highs, were set while Tepco was supposedly moving spent fuel out of the #4 SFP.

          • Horse Horse

HoTaters, sfp4 may be tepco's biggest pr stunt to date. We watched it burn and smoke. Reports were that it leaked, leaned, and was structurally damaged. A full spent fuel pool weighed heavily on the public’s mind. Big expense to erect that support structure addon. The addon wasn't just a temporary fix until the pool was emptied, it was built to last awhile. We saw the CSFP steam up every time a hot load from sfp4 was dropped in. The steaming events and the reported numbers coming out of sfp4 didn’t match up. Reported empty after a year, the CSFP steaming events continued on for another year. IMO, some assemblies were removed and the weight was reduced, but it wasn't completely emptied.

    • "Claims that Fukushima was Sabotaged"

That would be a VERY convenient excuse…

Fact is that the design was flawed from inception and was originally intended for submarines…

No real protection, nor real inspections, allowed to run past it's end date with totally crazy extensions of it's operating licence and cursory inspections, proper preventive measures never employed even after years of solid evidence that a major accident was waiting to happen and was inevitable…

So I'd guess anyone involved with the decisions to build, operate and inspect these death traps would like you to think it was a intentional act of sabotage.

The only sabotage that occurred was the sabotage of public safety…

The sabotage was ignoring the obvious dangers for a little bit of electricity and a little bit of money…

Glaciers Serve as Radioactive Storage, Study Finds

    Aug 17, 2016

The icy surfaces of glaciers are punctured with cryoconites – small, cylindrical holes filled with meltwater, with thin films of mineral and organic dust, microorganisms, and other particles at the bottom of the hole.

New research conducted by Polish scientists reveals that cryoconites also contain a thin film of extremely radioactive material.

Kokanee Glacier Beer and the 1962 “Bomb Horizon”

was delighted to hear that, in celebration of Kokanee’s founding in 1962, you’ve decided to sponsor some glaciology research in exchange for the recovery of five liters of glacier ice from 1962. It just so happens that 1962 is also an auspicious year for glaciologists. We glaciologists know 1962 as the “bomb horizon”, due to a worldwide peak in the atmospheric deposition rates of radionuclides derived from thermal weapons testing. Tsar Bomba, the largest thermal-nuclear weapon ever tested, with a yield of over 50 MT, had just been detonated the previous fall (30 October 1961). The USSR conducted about 40 thermal-nuclear weapons tests in 1962, and the US conducted closer to 100! After each test, the radionuclide fallout drifted around the atmosphere for a few weeks before raining down on the landscape, glaciers included.

To assess if profile characteristics within the active layer are affected by glacier retreat variations of organic carbon and carbon fractions and 137Cs contents were examined. The presence of organic carbon (range: 0.13–3.19%), and 137Cs (range: bdl–10.1 Bq kg− 1) was only found at the raised beaches.

EIS Summit VIII The Eighth Annual World Summit on Infrastructure Security
    United States Capitol Building
    Washington, DC
Today’s lifeline infrastructures are interconnected and resourced on unprecedented scales, with supply chains spanning the nation and, increasingly, the world. With this growing integration and global reach, they have brought us remarkable capabilities.

    At a price.

Concerns have grown over the potential for severe malicious or natural “Black Sky” hazards associated with subcontinent scale, long duration power outages, with cascading failure of all our other increasingly interdependent infrastructures. This creates a grim and difficult dilemma: Restoration of any sector will only be possible with at least minimal operation of all the others.

To deal with this deadlock, careful sector by sector and cross-sector resilience planning is crucial. However, such plans, to be effective, must be exercised. With the diversity and the national and global scale of the infrastructures we now depend on, this requires an unprecedented, multi-sector, national and international exercise series.

'Unexploded WWII bomb' found at Japan Fukushima nuclear plant

  • The lies all start at the beginning and qualified people are harder to spot than the completely unqualified…

…Ya gotta love the photo of a pristine reactor (mark 2) site that is not even the same type as Fukushima 1 (mark 1) reactor site…

At least if we are informed we can spot it in a half a second from a thousand miles away…

If they can't even get a photo right what else did they get wrong?

Should be a cause for outrage, instead it's overlooked but should be considered as the obvious unqualified / disinformation that it really is…

Oh yea and they are building a parking deck? For who the aliens?

A parking deck? At the Fukushima Daiichi wrecked nuclear site? Pure BS!!!!

And notice that they didn't even clarify where it was found? at Fukushima Daiichi? Fukushima Daini? Where in Fukushima???

A parking deck? Really?? I'd sooner believe potassium is toxic and in anyway comparable to nuclear waste (also total BS)…

This disinformation is either intentional or produced by completely unqualified people and should be met with the total outrage it deserves…

Found a bomb building a parking deck at Fuku 1? Really??

I'll be lookin for Walt Disney to rise from the grave at any time now…

…or maybe a secret basement at Comet pizza (a slab building with no basement).

Would be a better bet on finding the truth than anything involved with this "bomb found" story on msn…

World War II bomb discovered in parking lot of the wrecked Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant! Oh the horrors and agonies of such a threat! (not!)

Mesnwhile…Tepco knuckleheads pulled out from the hideous bowels of Unit 3 the scorched remains of Saiko 44 the submersible diving robot. Saiko 44 discovered what Enenewsers had known for 6 long years…that massive amounts of melted fuels dangerous forever are sitting in plain sight leaking into the Pacific Ocean just 100 meters away.

Asked for comment, Tepco officials disclosed they would be working on removing that massive radioactive sludge sometime in the next million years, but there was no threat to anyone because the world's single ocean is HUGE!

    • DUDe DUDe

Good thing they diddent discover the bomb sooner or they would have mistaken it for a lost fuelrod and give it a "place" the center of things..
They managed also to screw a ventilation system backwards once iirc..

    • And they recovered it after being in that environment? Just more Cinderella's cattle (and that's not a type O) disinformation crap…

From the article in The Cannon Beach Gazette titled "Former CEO Steps Up To Protect Puffin Population."

"There are about 2.4 million who breed in North America. While Haystack colony has stabilized the past few years in the low 100s, the population has been steadily declining for past twenty years, said Shawn Stephenson, a wildlife biologist with the Oregon Coast Wildlife Refuse Complex.

"Twenty years ago, 5,000 of the birds were nesting on the Oregon coast. Now it's just a few hundred, he said."

"The retired Darigold CEO, John Underwood decided to donate $10,000 to launch the "Protect The Puffins" campaign this summer. Soon, visitors and residents will see "Protect our Puffins" sweatshirt for sale at local business."

"proceeds will go to fund informational brochures, research and an event to raise awareness of the 'puffin problem.'"

The usual suspects of wildlife decline were rounded up as possible causes of the puffin decline and were mentioned in the article, but no mention was made of the conspiracy theory that radiation might be be having effect on the biosphere.

It's nice to know that our local news papers aren't succumbing to fear mongering and wild unfounded fringe group thinking.

I have always pondered why humans have caused so much suffering for themselves and all living things in the world. Is there some cause that can be pinpointed that would explain it? All things have a cause, just as nothing can be created without first starting as a thought, what is the flaw in human thinking that is the cause of all the symptoms of our collective disease.

If we could find the flaw in human thinking and correct it, would the symptoms disappear in the same way that finding the cause of cancer would end the disease?

    • FaunaLord Farthington MacMananus

Maybe our existence is the flaw.

    • curly

One thing that most people will agree with is that an individual does not possess the right to harm or steal from another. If I want to build a small nuclear reactor in my back yard for my power needs it would be illegal because I might harm my neighbors. I don't have the right as an individual to harm or steal from my neighbors.

But it's interesting that if I get together with other individuals and decide to build a NPP, it somehow becomes acceptable to do so even though none of the individuals involved have the individual right to build an NPP because it harms others and steals their health.

How can a group of people who don't individually have the right, do something that a single person doesn't have the right to do? What is the voodoo magic that makes it ok for a group of people to build an NPP or start a war when they don't individually have that right?

Is this the flaw in the human foundation of thinking that is the cause of or disease? What would happen if humans stopped giving or delegating rights or powers that they themselves, as individuals, don't possess?

the yin yang symbol shows the seed of dissolution of a polarity is contained within itself. When you play with a cat or dog, you both have fun, you both know its a game. But the seed of the game is very serious…a killing impulse, even a reflex. But its this life or death extreme which created beautiful animals that now enjoy a bit of fun with their human friends. The cause of ape-mans diseased psychopathic mentality is within the very fabric of the universe. Everything has an influence…but specifically, scarcity had a huge influence. Survival and mating conquest in a world of intense competition was best achieved by the strong, the swift, the fighters, the shrewd, the assholes, the ones with a swift paw and sharp claws. At least half the things we admire about our best specimens come from forces that also make us killers. Thats why it wont be as simple as changing one errant thought form. The chain of cause and effect literally goes back to super nova explosions…not that long ago or far away in the infinity of time and space

    • Here's one to think about…

      Why do humans cause problems?

Let's answer that question with another question…

Why does a man climb a mountain?

      A hint? …It's NOT because it's there.

      It's because he can…

I just love a gaggle of hippies that can actually produce good…

"ROYAL OAK (WWJ) – As the rhetoric ramps up over North Korea and nuclear weapons, the cash registers have been ringing at a local Army Supply store, where some are apparently prepping for a third World War.

Ben Orr, the manager of Joe’s Army Navy in Royal Oak, says he’s been selling a lot of “prepper items” over the past week or so.

“We’ve been very busy. Unusually busy, I’d say,” Orr told WWJ’s Sandra McNeill. “It’s definitely an increase, just in selling all the normal prepper stuff, end of the world stuff. A lot of water prep stuff, food, MREs — the military meals.”

And there’s been a substantial increase in the sale of a particular item they don’t sell much of — a so-called radiation antidote called potassium iodide.

Ben Orr shows off a package of potassium iodide. (Credit: Sandra McNeill/WWJ Newsradio 95)
“It actually stops your thyroid from absorbing any radiation. So, it fills your thyroid with iodine, which it normally does anyways,” said Orr. “Your body can’t tell the difference between bad, radioactive iodine and acceptable iodine, so it actually will stop you from getting thyroid cancer.”
