California Official: Information on risk from Fukushima needs to be made public — State in contact with NRC — CBS: ‘Health Scare Over Possible Fukushima Radiation In Pacific-Caught Fish’ — Surfer: I’d never go surfing right now (VIDEO)

Assemblymember Bob Wieckowski Representing the 25th California Assembly District, Jan. 7, 2014: Wieckowski Urges State To Post Information On Fukushima Disaster’s Risk To California Beaches […] Saying that Californians are concerned and seeking information about potential health risks caused by contaminated water coming to the state from the Fukushima nuclear power plant disaster, Assemblymember Bob Wieckowski (D-Fremont) is urging the state’s Department of Public Health to post updated information on the issue to its homepage. […] “I think a lot of people’s questions can be answered if the department would conduct a study or post the results of other studies and monitoring that are already completed to its homepage. […] Millions of Californians live in communities that are directly impacted by contamination in the ocean. That’s why I think it’s important for the state Department of Public Health to put what information it has in layman’s terms onto its homepage so the public can see it and understand what, if any, risks or concerns are out there.”

KSBW, Jan. 10, 2014: Zero threat of Fukushima radiation at California beaches, health officials say […] there is also no risk of Fukushima radiation hitting the Monterey Bay. John Hodges, Santa Cruz County’s environmental health director, said, “We have no indication of anything that would be unusual here on our beaches.” Santa Cruz surfer Danilo TJ Magallanes disagrees, and said he would never go surfing right now.

Half Moon Bay, CA Patch, Jan. 9, 2014: Dean Peterson, Director for Environmental Health Services for San Mateo County […] forwarded the issue to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and [the California] Department of Public Health to further analyze the radioactivity. “Because the level was higher, it is protocol for us to contact state and federal agencies for further investigation,” he said. CDHP has collected and will be analyzing sand samples from Half Moon Bay. […] The agency has been in contact with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and they are monitoring the situation with the nuclear reactors in Japan, said [spokeswoman Wendy Hopkins].

Surfing and eating fish present different levels of risk.

Yesterday, I watched surfers at Cardiff – by – the – Sea. Surfing. The water is too cold for me to surf. I ate dinner on the beach to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. No salmon for me until they test.

    • norbu norbu

agreed norbu…I have friends in Japan, Hawaii, and grew up in So. California. There is a close bond with the ocean that has been broken….I have been out on the ocean caught a fish and had fresh sushi…the innocence of those times are gone.

…….I remember one trip about 35 miles west of the San Juan Islands I saw a pod of dolphins that went beyond where the eye could see ( I still have the photo). 1000's of them swimming together…a few came up to the boat and were playing and jumping. It hurts my heart when I recall these memories.

I'm interested too , Atlantic seaweed I am wondering if I can just collect it ..I shall look it up and I will share it , you have to pay postage .. After storms a ton of it washes up ..kelp and dulse

          • JP JP

I have been testing Atlantic seaweed Dulse and Kelp from Maine and finding it to run over 110CPM with my Inspector so I have stopped eating it. I have tested numerous bags of it and am having a hard time believing my own numbers but they are consistent. Don't know if its Fuku or something local.
Suggest you be careful with seaweed from anywhere unless you are testing it.

            • clamshellernh clamshellernh

Thank you for sharing that with me , of course that was one of my concerns same with wanting to eat quahogs . Where in Maine are you. I am 20 miles south of seabrook nuclear plant . It sucks . I will do some guerrilla investigations by contacting the seaweed companies and see what the take is on this issue and if they are being proactive and if not why not . Another thing for my list . I don't have a monitor however I have a father that has plans to make them and all kinds of other things that some of you would like , but we don't talk because of my hippie values as he says . Twenty years ago he gave me a case of these yellow boxes that were dosimeters , he said they weren't too good they were the size of a half shoe box. If anyone wants his company name email me as I would like someone else's take on them , he's got the faraday cages too I just don't want to open a can of worms by contact the bastard

            • MVB Michael Van Broekhoven

JP, please do the world a service and send your highest measuring seaweed to a lab for radioisotopeanalysis (like a gammaspectroscopy, which would reveal Cs-134, Cs-137,I-131, and natural factors like K-40, etc.). For Sr-90 and Pu-239, additional tests would be required, but a basic gamma spec, and maybe an alpha/beta analysis would tell you if it's a reason for concern, or perhaps not at all.

I send a seaweed sample to a lab in April 2013, from Northern California, and that sample, sampled then, and it contained ZERO cesium nor iodine (lab data included in link, below).

A seaweed company in Maine sent samples to UM and it was mostly Potassium (0.012% of which is Potassium-40) (also incl.)

I need lab data myself to get this cleared up (for my Japanese "radioactive seaweeds" in particular, but have come to the conclusion that just Geiger Counter "% of background" reports are essentially useless without at least some lab data to find specific causes of the radiation.

The more people send samples to independent (non nuclear industry-controlled or funded) labs, even if you have to send it abroad (Greenpeace worked with French and Belgian labs for their sampling off Japan in 2011), the better we'll be able to interpret Geiger Counter measurements.

Consider my findings and ponderings (with data and embedded links):

Without more widespread testing of fish it is very difficult
to know how "clean." it is. Dutchsense just did some testing
on Salmon from Alaska and it had 42cpm. If I could get
fish off of Uruguay or Argentina or off of South Africa or
from the Indian Ocean side of Southern Africa then perhaps
I would eat some without too much worry right now.
Ocean currents eventually will move Pacific waters world
wide. I am sure we are going to get fruit flies landing on
this soon telling us not to worry the water is safe to swim
and eat from. Santa Cruz Ca is right on the Ocean-Montery Bay.
Big beach tourism with a fishing fleet there. Lots of surfers.
Lets hope it does not become a buckyball ghost town.
I have fond childhood memories of the beaches there and
went to college at UCSC. So sad. The tipping point has been
reached and the ProNukers are in overdrive. Best advise is
to step around them and let them alone on these threads.

I love Santa Cruz. I spent time photographing Big Sur, Point Reyes, Napa, Morro Bay. I have lived mostly in Southern Cafornia but much of that time I have lived at the beach or bays. During 60 years the environment has been in decline (Nevada before Southern California). I lived in South San Francisco as a child.

I feel that too many people using too much non-sustainable energy inevitably results in this eco – system decline. My plan is to discourage human reproduction for several generations while adopting truly clean energy and organic agricultural practices.

The over – population places undue strain on any eco-system. Screw the economy – we were made to live synergistically with nature, not Wall Street. I call this Eco-socialism. I vote Green. Both political parties are 100% pro-nuclear and anti-environment. Wars promote nukes and nuclear energy proliferation.

You know the Beach House across from the Kraken? Sunset was really hazy. A bad omen! Caught the Sunset in Del Mar. Almost cried tears last summer seeing seal pups dying on the sand. This Fall the starfish all died off.

I remember Southern California when there were seals in the surf. Porpoises played in the waves. We dug clams on the beaches. Catalana had so many abalone that we could fill a gunny sack with an ab iron and a face mask at Lovers' Cove. I used to swim with Duke from Hawaii who worked for the Rigleys.

I have surfed from Costa Rica to Hawaii, Malibu to the Cabo, Ma atlas to San Blas. California used to be a Paradise. I have a feeling that Fukushima was the last straw.

  • Southbound Southbound

That news report was so one-sided.

It starts out "oh there might be contaminated fish coming from the Pacific. Lets ask this ONE "SCIENTIST" we found ad a UNIVERSITY!"

"Eh, just a bit of radioactie particles. Nothing to see here, move along."

"Remember the whole Mercury scare a few years ago? Ya well, this problem will soon go away, too."

"Eating fish once or twice a week is good for you!"

Yes, it is good for you, unless, however, that fish is, well …poisonous. In that case, it's definitely NOT good for you.

If I make for you a salad, and sprinkle in a little poop, and mix it around, it's still a salad, which is good for you, but now it's a poop salad, and no one should eat that.

    • nedlifromvermont

quite funny, really, a "poop salad" … but not really funny at alll … a good way to describe the reality of the contamination situation …

this could be a very useful turn of a phrase, Southbound!

      Good luck on your journey.

I have a cousin who has been very "successful" … who fell in love with duck hunting at the family duck club in Backbay, Virginia (near Pungo) … and who has purchased a major landholding (sadly at low sea level elevation) in coastal Argentina, who may be able to use a gringo down in the Argentinian marsh land … maybe I could hook you up … and you could do advance resettlement work for the most loyal 5,000 or so enenewsers … No???

Let me know (I'm hiding is plain sight)

      peace all!

      • Southbound Southbound

Very interesting proposition. I'll be in touch.

        • Southbound Southbound

Lets take a quick survey. Who reading this would be interested in relocating to the Southern hemisphere if there was a plan?

Obviously moving is expensive. Finding a job can be easy for some, and impossible for others, depending on your skill set/education/experience, etc.

Many can't move for other reasons, family obligations, etc.

So I wonder how many are interested, willing, and able?

          • I dont think it matters that much, this shite will spread all over. Moving could be a good 5 year plan, but quite the effort for a minimal benefit.

            • Southbound Southbound

I disagree. To the best of my knowledge, only 6% of all air in the Northern hemisphere (NH) transfers to the Southern hemisphere (SH) per year, and vice versa. Only around 3% of ocean water transfers from the NH to the SH, and vice versa.

Because of the heating at the equator around the world, the natural currents in the atmosphere and oceans push the air and water away from the two equators. There are some technical terms for this process, but it's been a while since my last ocean science class…

Therefore, the SH will be a safe(r) haven for many decades. Obviously fish and birds can transfer these particles much faster than ocean currents and atmospheric transfer, but I am a vegetarian, which will help minimize my personal exposure.

              • Southbound Southbound

typo: air and water away from the two HEMISPHERES. not equators… oops

Hi guy's and gal's. I'm Tony from London England, presently residing in SE Asia. I don't post often, but religiously log on to ENE every day. A sincere thanks to ALL (except "Socref" of course!), and especially Anne, for affording Joe Public (me!), a true picture of the ongoing disaster at Fukushima. I'm off later this year, to Sumatra and Java in Indonesia (South of the equator), in search of a plutonium free patch, amid the proverbial paradise islands. I'm dropping "Southbound" my email address, if any Ene's want an update on my exploits, or to contact me. We shall overcome!! Happy New Year! Tony

                    • socref

There is no evidence of uranium in the plume since there was no 185 keV photon in the plume, and that is the signature for uranium. What other signature for uranium do you have?

And this particular kind of poop we are talking about here, isn't going to just pass through you and give you a tummy ache for a few days. No, no. This particular poop sticks around for a while. It bio-accumulates, and burns, and ionizes, and sprays its particularly poopy protons and electrons for days, weeks, months and years. Sometimes they never leave. Piss poor planning promotes positively poor performance.

The sad fact is, these liars and criminals of the babylonic empire of dirt will never tell the truth about this extinction Level Event. Too much liability involved. They will go to hell before they tell the truth. Sez we, the sooner, the better.

Of course, this will also mean they will take most of the planets biological life forms with them as they too all slowly suffer in a hell of cancerous sicknesses that is still coming to a theater near you all…soon!

    • Cisco Cisco

True JT, but what we will see are disease epidemics through all biological systems. With the biosphere contaminated and compromised by ionizing radiation, we can expect hundreds of autoimmune diseases that will ravage animal and plant life in the not too distant future. Sick and dieing sea creatures in Alaska and off the coasts of Canada, Mexico and the US have provided a preview of what is to come, for us.

I think many epidemiologists would conclude the die-offs we have been witnessing are/were caused by diseases versus "radiation", per se. But, there are many who could make the argument that radiation compromised those creatures' biological immune systems; and in turn, that led to their mortality. So technically, one could put the COD as a specific disease versus "radiation". The nuclear cabal will hide behind this "disease versus radiation" curtain as they are currently exploiting.

Corrupted DNA will lead to high infant mortality, birth defects, and future genetic diseases for all generations to come. Heart/pulmonary disease should top the list with cancer as the major killers, as they are today. What will be different is that these diseases' onset will be exponentially sooner and more aggressive in their destruction.

Too many coincidences? Walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, flys like a duck. Socref and other nuclear pimps want you to believe the duck you see and hear, is a swan.

Who ya gonna believe? Those shills, or your lying eyes!

Thank you brother for speaking your truth to power so eloquently, and simple. Truth is a vibrant energy that resonates in our hearts. When it comes to all these illusions in the matrix, one is best advised to ALWAYS FOLLOW YOUR HEART. It knows the truth. The mind can believe anything.

Thank you for your positivity and contributions to the forum here.

If a worst case scenario plays out, there will be a debate whether government or private health care plans will pay for euthanasia for those who will die a painful death from the effects of airborne or seaborne radiation from Fukushima. Until the very end of humanity, 'they' will find a way to keep chaos alive. Maybe from the "hell" they have created for themselves underground, via computer. Like a freakish movie or something.

      • We Not They Finally

Though the more predictable scenario will be some "deadly diversion." Like some brand new strain of "flu"….

Don't want that. Not at all. I'm just that cynical about how this is going. We have to just love and support each other best we can. There are things we may not be able to control.

  • cooterboy

Folks I need your help with a question.

Is there any information, data, on background radiation, prior to 3-11 that would show this on a map of the U.S.? I've just spent two hours searching for this data on the www to no avail.

I need to take into account this data so that I can accurately determine the radiation testing that I am starting.

    Thanks for the help.

    • jump-ball jump-ball

Geiger-minded Mimi German, RADCAST.ORG, says she and associates have collected pre-3/11 U.S BG and other rad data for her under-construction site, to provide true baselines for comparison with the spreading and intensifying levels of the N. American radiation disaster. She said back data was difficult to find and verify, and I think she appreciates the necessity of true historic data and ongoing detection, as well as the probability that 'we the people' are going to be responsible for doing the detections and making the harsh public revelations, that POLITICIZED 'perception-management-directed state and federal agencies, authorities and educational nuclear partisans, will never, ever, willingly make, or reveal.

      • zogerke zogerke

You know, regarding your question about rad background pre 311: Find the professional organizations that care about this stuff from a non-hiding perspective, and get access back copies and search engines of their journal articles from a library. I only know the occupational safety end but i bet a library computer search of journals of these orgs might reveal what you are looking for. I am not sure and don't wish to send you to a wild good chase but it is worth a look:

        apha- american public health association
        aiha- american industrial hygiene association
asse- american society of safety engineers
also- i have found great stuff in old us geological survey info documents- though they were provided to me by members years ago.

like all places, these orgs have people in them with many diff viewpoints. i think apha might be the most friendly.

      • James Tekton James Tekton

"…,that POLITICIZED 'perception-management-directed state and federal agencies, authorities and educational nuclear partisans, will never, ever, willingly make, or reveal."

        Hey yo, Jump!

Add ZOG controlled zionist lame stream media propaganda to that list.

The answer to the above question is, yes. When this horrible disaster first happened, many of us were checking the EPA maps and recording the readings every day. We also captured several maps that showed the readings some time before the actual drill happened on 3-11-11, before they scrubbed them off. These records might still be available. Here are a few of those maps that prove there were poisonous radioactive emissions that were VERY VERY high hitting the country BEFORE THE 3/11 EVENT/DRILL. When this was reported here almost three years ago, no one on ENE paid any attention to this important FACT.

        • James Tekton James Tekton

It is becoming more and more apparent that something had happened BEFORE the fukushima drill to cause the horrendous event that happened on 3-11-11. Or conversely, this BUSH/CLINTON earthquake/tsunami bomb event may have been caused to cover up something else that had happened. Was it the STUXNET VIRUS??

What this shows is, they changed the parameters of what was acceptable, and then some how adjusted these numbers way down, as later EPA maps and graph showed. We were all taking in massive doses BEFORE fukushima and this is also something that is probably being COVERED UP!

          • James Tekton James Tekton

Do not ever give this info-warrior any guff about anti-Semitic blame game shenanigans ever again! These evil zionist asshats are, and will ALWAYS BE THE WORLD'S ENEMIES. When the world realizes this, it will most likely be too late. If, on the other hand, EVERYONE could get on the same page of truth, THEN, the world's people MIGHT have a chance of saving themselves from these evil monsters of satan's nuklear hell. Hanging and burning is too good for them. A dip in the reactors pools after they ALL have been forgiven will be the right Baptism for these horrible reptile-minded killers.

            And hey ADMIN:

Bro, PLEASE give this writer more space to write in. The limitations of words in compose is stiffing and interruptive of a good writing flow. It is more that a burden to have to re-type, re-write, re-space, and re-size all that can come from a writers heart. It takes longer to put all this in here, than it did to write!
Weza needs ROOM TO MOVE!! THIS is what the hiatus from ENE was about for many contributers. Many of us got sick and tired of being limited and put through the ringers like this, so we just gave up since you did not respond to calls to FIX THIS years ago. WE NEED MORE SPACE TO WRITE WITH!!! END THE LIMITATIONS, OR EXTEND THEM TO A NORMAL AMOUNT SO WE CAN TELL YOU MORE TRUTH!

          • Seraphine Seraphine

Hi jec (& everyone else! this is only my 2nd post)

I had a MASSIVE seizure on 3/13/11, & I'm on the US W Coast. The plume released after 3/11/11 wouldn't have made it to my skies yet, but I always thought the timing was a neat coincidence. Now, seeing the spikes of radiation recorded from just before the Tohoku quake, I'm really wondering if there's a connection.

Basically, I started vomiting on 3/9 or 10 & couldn't hold anything – not even water – down for days. Then I had a long foaming-at-the-mouth grand mal, & huge seizures are NOT normal for me. (I've had 3 total seizures in my adult life, & the other 2 were due to a food & a med reaction respectively.) In the ER, I was given fluids & meds I hadn't kept down – & I went back into another seizure – but I'm told I walked out under my own power seeming mentally & physically fine.
I woke the next morning with 6 weeks of memory erased.
The next 3-4 weeks are also lost to me (remember Memento?) & I had trouble speaking, especially remembering nouns, terrible balance, vertigo & generally mental fogginess that lasted about a year.
I had no symptoms beyond those I listed above – no sore throat, sniffles, nothing to indicate I was sick with something else.

What do you guys think? Was this possibly related?

Side note: I've had daily migraines thru most of this past year. I only used to get them once a month.

            Thanks! Starve the trolls!!

        • zogerke zogerke

A little OT: jt those are good graph references for radiation readings. and i live and work in a world and city and town with people who practice judaism, islam, paganism, christainity, protestanism, and even atheism. And folks in my world are caucasion, and latino, and west-african, and african american, and native american. and i even know people with family in israel. and many of these folks are friends and colleagues of mine. True!

the reason i mentioned these organizations, is a story from the world trade center mess. and again i would need to look for my old files to substantiate and upload the article. but during the months after 911, i knew the air was unsafe. but the epa and all the associations did not admit it, hid it as this nuclear mess is being hid now. But I got damning information in another way, showing that the air was severely contaminated.

There were 2 proof sources I found. The US geological survey folks took pH readings of the air in nyc after 911. The pH was in the 9 to 11.6 range. That means we were breathing in air that was the pH of liquid Drano. Super caustic. Now i am in the medical registry of 911 responders, and the doctor running it says that she thinks the super caustic (like lye) air was what started killing people and injuring their respirator tracts. the second article…..

          • zogerke zogerke

con't..the 2nd article i read was actually from th american industrial hygeine association. Remember that asbestos regs are set by OSHA and the PELS, the permissible exposure limits have been upgraded (lowered) many times. And OSHA- and EPA- and the utilities- said the air samples were harmless cause they didn't contain asbestos. But some techie geek in AIHA took samples and ran them thru a centrifuge. And he found that the particle size was SO SMALL that there were no laws against them. The explosions had sent asbestos into the air at such fine particle size that normal air testing came up negative so no laws broken!–unless you centrifuged the dust and then sampled tthe smallest particles using TEM, transmission electron microscopy, an expensve and accurate testing method. Of course these positive for sbetos results were not released to the public beyond a small AIHA audience in 2001. It is for this reason that i think one researching diligently could find info they seek, if they had the time and inclination.

To finish the 911 story, the danger was – the high pH destroying everyone's upper resp tract defenses
-the incredibly small particle size making toxins deeply inhaled into the lungs,
-and the soup of chemicals 'adsorbing'- sticking onto the outside of the tiny particles- like dioxin, pcbs, other nasty nastys. The combo of that meant the air was deadly, as we knew and deaths and illnesses proved.

Data from Texas pre Fukushima 8 counts per minute. A spike hit 3 days after 3-11 about 100 something then dropped quick as radiation passed.Ever since my counter reads between 8 and 12 count a minute rarely a 12 most 8-10

        Hey, Mark!

THE BIG MISUNDERSTANDING that has been circulating IS:

Normal background RADIATION was at one time in history almost non-existent except in places where it was very high in concentrations in the earth.

In a normal background, one without all the historical blasts from mankind, and toxic wastes, spillages, and contaminated storage tanks dumped all over the world, IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE 0-5 CPM, AND RESPECTIVELY, .001-.040 uSv/hr. Put that in stone here and every where, so people can really understand what is, and IS NOT normal.

        0-5 CPM

        .001-.040 uSv/hr

Where are the results are for all fish imported from the Pacific Rim areas, and migratory fish from Japanese area/currents?? HUMMMM?? Since radiation "testing' by local/government of local seafood was two or three fish (!!) — would be nice to see what our tax dollars are paying for. Either EPA or FDA monitors –and should be testing for radiation. Heck a dirty bomb could be stuck inside any imported fish or beef would think they have scanners. They scan us at the airport!!! jec, would have loved if the alaphabet agencies would have been doing their job from the beginning. if they started now, if feel like i would question the results. i trust results from citizens more than our government. either something radical needs to happen to these agencies to regain the publics confidence or we need to stop funding them. what great jobs, salaries and benefits those pricks had, and yet i see people with babies playing on the beach. our backround normal for the past 6 months has been around 350 CPM's but out of the past 6 days weve had 487. 497. 506 and now today 414. i see radnet raised our "normal" to 365 today.
last month i had to go to the emergency room, my doctor had never heard of TMI and not much about fukushima, i was afraid if i said any more i would be put on a psych hold so i shut my mouth. this is what we're up against.

Agencies will misuse the "LEOPARD SKIN" rad patterns to obfuscate the contamination reality. The Geiger detection-video 'boots on the ground' people like Michael Collins, Cristina Consolo, Mimi German and others, on the other hand, are describing intensifying CPM levels occurring at intermittent times and in 'spotty' locations of varying separation (such as Chernobyl maps suggest for the latter); their 1000s of detection reports are starting to suggest to me we will be walking outside into a hot-spot radiation MINE FIELD, where you won't leave home without your Geiger.

Contrary to the specious 'dilution solution' assertion of the nuclear partisans, that the contamination is diffused, it is not, and when I can gather the references showing how ocean eddies and coastal currents generate concentration patterns, and similar localized intensities occur on the ground, and more intermittently in the air, and through altitudes, I will present the case for how difficult is both the detection process as well as the generalization of wider spread intensities.

  • Recent headlines posted by Enenews make the implicit argument that strontium and other radionuclide levels are far greater than anticipated by research models.

Additionally, Enenews admin has carefully noted that even Ken Buesseler is concerned about bio-accumulation.

We have a scenario unfolding where sites such as Deep Sea News and public health authorities are saying adverse animal mortality events could not be caused by Fukushima because radiation levels are not high enough to cause these effects and some of the effects occurred, albeit in far less magnitude, before the disaster.

But these Deep Sea News stories and claims by public health authorities are not based on actual empirical data of contamination levels, particularly of strontium levels, which are harder than cesium to detect.

Strontium contamination is going to be far greater than cesium according to the German study that was cited by Enenews. And strontium contamination looks like it is just getting started.

I have explicated this argument carefully with a wide array of data points include rising strontium detections by TEPCO and scientific findings and analyses:

Public health authorities will wring their hands and say it couldn't be Fukushima because they are relying on flawed models and they do not acknowledge the scope of previous eco-system damage due to SF dumping & Hanford.

    Denial is a drug.

Looked at that mentioned California Department of Public Health, and found an interesting ommission! They list various cancers-breast, ovary, uterine..but NOT ONE MENTION of thryoid cancer in their disease directory OR leukemia. And a search of thryoid on the report with graphs from 2006 for adults over 20! Same for Acute Leukemia, old 2006 report. So..they are just posting the politically correct diseases and not even updating the information. What is sad, the public will go to the site, find a report and not realize they are looking at SEVEN year old materials!! Lots happens in seven years–Fukushima for one. Sad.

I think it's fair to say that the pursuit of advanced degrees subjects the student to sophisticated programming (brainwashing) that is specifically designed to remove open-minded objectivity. That's why the pro-nukers are so full of their "data-based accepted science" that purports to know all there is to know based on data and theory and rejects direct experience, observation, and common sense as unreliable or false. We saw an example of this with Socref.

Our focus on the Pacific is noble but land based observations are also crucial.

Today I gathered leaves from a dozen different tree species (hardwoods, aka deciduous), all of which showed traces of chlorophyll. Can't quite believe weather conditions were the sole reason. My soul tells me it was some energetic atoms and particles.

I've also noticed heavy conifer needle drops.

Public disclosure sure would be nice.

  • Nick

The reason this is significant…is chlorophyll usually is taken back into the plants before shedding leaves.

Since I think Fukushima also is affecting the very weather patterns…..strange times indeed.

There is little discussion of Fukushima ipact on weather and the obvious effects around us on the trees and plants, even here on Enenews.

You should be here on Hawai'i. It is insane. Speaking about organized denial. The radio waves are all in rightwing hands, emanating that there is NO whatsoever danger from Fukushima, while at the same time we are getting surrounded by a toxic nuclear soup, agitated and sprayed inland like recently when we had high surf of up to 30 feet. Anything 'Fukushima' is met with "I don't want to hear about it!" and the local 'health food store' here in Pahoa is serving/selling 'Wild Caught Pacific Salmon' dishes every day since 2011. They never stopped. Even now, as things become more dramatic in terms of radiation. The Salmon sells well, despite the fact that it is never tested.
People are callous wherever you are. The good thing though is that those who believe Fukushima is 'just some hyped up scare' will go first. Maybe we can enjoy our remaining life a bit more without those human failures?

    whats going on here?

    • artika rama

hvypetals Believe it or not , when i first started questioning about these fuku issues i was asking mysefl the same question . SO 2 things to consiuder .
1; It turns out it is NOT so easy to measure RADIATION ,, what kind of radiation , what kind of device , calibrated to what , radiation in what ? etc etc . SO just like TEPCO has been measuring much lower radiation levels (by mistake 🙂 as they say ) in the beginning of the accident and later using the CORRECT DEVICE we can be misleid by just a geiger counter .
2 We are NOT so much worried about ACUTE HIGH levels of radiation but more about low levels of radiation on a LONG time and specially INTERNALLY . That means a particle that wouldnt do much even if you would hold it in your hand , but still can kill you over the years if you would inhale it .
It is NOT going to kill people like in the movies ,, hair falling out , vomiting , etc but by causing cancer and other chronical diseases over many years . That is most likely whats going to happen
BUT FUKUSHIMA DID NOT END YET ,, the radiation its pouring is increasing day by day ,, and (THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION ) there is a big risk that it can get much worse .
I hope this answers your question .

Good question hvypetals. Even if every stitch of Stone's work is spot on the majority of Enenewers are technical or scientific types not conspiracy fact checkers. We are trying to find out how bad things really are and how to survive this mess. Most don't have time or the inclination to fall down that particular rabbit hole. Like 911 and WTC7 there are smoking guns that will lead you to a greater truth but will cost you precious time to discover, time we don't have due to the cumulative and poisonous nature of our self inflicted wound.

I think chasing more than one rabbit would be counterproductive for most here. We are still reeling from the mind blowing FOIA reports Hatrick Penry has presented. The situation is so deeply disturbing that creeping denial and the media induced consensus trance is our biggest enemy. Trolls and shills are welcome as they keep us frosty. Are hope is that they also wake up to the horrors of all things nuclear and take step to inform and protect their loved ones.

For those that have spare time and of are a sturdy constitution this site has a great overview of the very big picture.

Reactor 3 Nuclear Explosion at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant
          Published on Mar 3, 2013
“They tell us not to worry, but by some calculations Fukushima is 1000 times or worse of a disaster than Chernobyl, which claimed over 1 million lives by some counts, and that number rises still to this day. Chernobyl had one reactor that was breached, Fukushima had 3-4 out of 6 melt down, the Chernobyl reactor that melted down was quite new, and had no spent fuel rods stored in the reactor building that was destroyed, and it didn't explode thousands of feet into the air raining fissioning spent fuel rods like Fukushima reactor 3. Fukushima had over 600,000 rods in all 6 reactor buildings spent fuel rod pools and an overflow containment pond combined. Now they will argue that it didn't all get exposed to air, but at least 4 of the 6 reactor complexes at Fukushima had their cooling ponds likely destroyed completely and fissile material going critical in the reactor and containment pools. Chernobyl also had no Plutonium, Fukushima reactor 3 had mox plutonium, a manmade element added to the periodic table that is over 1 million times more radioactive than its constituent ingredient, highly enriched weapons grade uranium.

          • Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar anne

Seeing that very reactor site explode thousands of feet into the air leaves no doubt that what the lame-stream media tells us is lies, the truth about Fukishima disaster could be graver than anyone could possibly fathom, it could reach into the tens or hundreds of millions in long term death toll and premature deaths, and this contamination will persist in the environment for millions of years, adding to the death toll further, for all we know this could reach into the billions. Even if it was only 50 souls, this type of disaster illustrates how criminally insane you have to be to run such a facility, the risk to humanity as a whole far outweighs any benefits nuclear power plants create in the short term, (20-30 years), and this whole sick agenda of civilian nuclear power subsidized by corrupt puppet administrations and the entire nuclear industry is a carefully crafted and sickeningly evil depopulation scheme to destroy, poison, and ultimately eradicate most of the populations of the planet, as part of a broader conspiracy by multi-generational family's in the ruling class to entrench their progenies control over mankind, and to carry out the shared vision of not only stunting and destroying human evolution, but actually exterminating us as a whole to within manageable numbers under a totalitarian one world government run by them.

          • Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar anne

The slow-kill is well underway in controlled nations but their plan also involves a final 3rd world war to destroy the few remaining countries not already conquered and to speed up the depopulation holocaust already well underway. God help us.”

            • nedlifromvermont

anne: Chernobyl Unit 4 contained no "Mox" fuel … but the graphite=moderated reactor manufactured plutonium, as do all these "machines" … and they found plutonium residue from the explosion and fire in the direction of Kiev … until they decided to STOP LOOKING … because to abandon Kiev would be to abandon Ukraine … same reason they can't evacuate Tokyo … or Paris, when a French meltdown occurs … it's emotional … not scientific …

sorry, I do not have a link for this … but I did host a surviving, Russian, female Chief Liqiuidator at my house in Dummerston, Vermnot, in the spring of 2011 … right after the Tohoku quake …

It wasnt a "nuclear explosion". It was a hydrogen explosion.

            • RonM RonM

A picture speaks a thousand words and the pictures I saw looked like a nuclear explosion, just like the WTC 7 collapse looked like a classic controlled demolition.

Do hydrogen explosions look like mushroom clouds and are they preceded by an enormous flash of light?

Why are so many experts claiming that it was a nuclear explosion?

Why are hundreds of eyewitness testimonies of multiple explosions far below the impact site of WTC 1&2 ignored by the mainstream media?

you do know frogs have ears don't you, you just can't see them.

Maybe you can volunteer to do some exploratory photography inside Fukushima reactor #3 so we can all see the pictures of an intact pressure containment vessel?

I guess free fall acceleration is possible just as is possible that a hydrogen explosion might just by chance resemble a nuclear explosion.

You can keep repeating lies and you can fool some of the people some of the people all of the time, all of the people some of the time but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time and most of the people on this website are the ones you can't fool. I suggest you spread your propaganda on a website where the fools are.

Who pays the shillmen? Nope it is not the NRC it is you, the taxpayer. All costs are tax deductible. Big Tobacco, Big Banks, The NRA. Their tax burden goes down and yours goes up.

I am sure TEPCO-GE will pay a huge fine sooner or later (another tax write/off) that will push the price of electricity up which will make them greater profits. Doesn't matter how many people they kill, Big Tobbaco proved that, doesn't matter who they hurt – think guns and banks. The past set things in motion when corporations learned how to build 50 + nuclear power generating plants all over the seismically active island chain. The future is set with unlimited uncertainties, as we just simply do not know how bad it will get.

  • The Soc Puppet seems to have his prime agenda to pretend that no uranium or plutonium were ejected or aerosolized from the plant. Then, if this is established, it would be possible to pretend that no nuclear explosion happened at Reactor 3, and likely Reactor 4 Equipment pool also.

However his basic premise is completely wrong. Uranium and Plutonium were found all over the place by various labs and EPA testing. Amazing that these paid pimps of nuke have the audacity to try to Nuke Elephant in the room.

Anne did a good collection of Uranium and Plutonium proof, and here is my basic proof of 50,000 to 150,000 pounds of uranium and plutonium were aerosolized and spread over the Pacific and the USA

  • Hey bro, you still doing that anti-nuclear blog work?

Hell ya, we gotta save the humans before this pro nuke pimps wipe out the whole planet. I was just [Troll Jousting] the other day at ENENEWS with this new "high quality troll" who apparently has an unlimited budget to spew his paid industry propaganda and talking points.

Cool Bro! I saw that story break on Beforeitsnews, you were the point man, COOL!

I tell you what though, after about 300 comments from this fake Sock, I am tired, I got

    Sock Nauseum

Hawaii relies on tourism for its economy. No bad info gets out of the islands. Last time I visited, 8 or 9 years ago, there was a significant dengue fever outbreak in Hilo; lots of people, tourists and locals, were very sick after being bitten by mosquitoes that carry it. The only publicizing of this that I saw was on "IMPORTANT!" posters at the rental car center where I rented a car; maybe they were concerned about liability. There was not a word of it anywhere else — nothing about it on Hawaiian news, nothing on the news on the mainland, nothing to this day on the internet; it is like it did not happen. IMHO, news about any issues related to Fukushima that affect Hawaii are not going to emanate from Hawaii.

    danger kitty:

Have you noticed thicker than normal litter drops? I also get the feeling that leaves aren't breaking down as fast?

Blueberry yields have also been down in Maine past 2 years. Also… noticed vast numbers of holly berries this year.

    Spots on leaves.

And finally, 2 years ago some scarlet runner beans grew in bizarre ways and did not yield viable seeds in "normal" quantities.

All just observations, not meant to SAY that radiation is a possible factor. Just my curiosity at work.

    • clamshellernh clamshellernh

I am in the boston north shore area and I never seen so much berry action on the holly like this year

One "bad" fish, one hot particle, higher background, more Strontium-90, hot rainfall, pretty soon the odds get you.

The other chemicals that our society produces contribute to cancer and mutations. Add GMO and nature is gone.

It seems like it was all a dream. Fukushima changed reality forever. Things like 9-11 were political. 3-11 is based on physics and chemistry and biology. The media denies this still.

HOT particles showered the Pacific Northwest, Cs-137 was deposited over the Northern Hemisphere, and Strontium-90 released in vast quantities, especially continuing for the next 150 years or more, the meaning of our lives is different. The entire context has changed. Having children is a changed concept. Religion has changed. The meaning we found in life is forever altered because of what we did to nature.

That's how I see it anyway. That's how I feel.

  • razzz razzz

I don't why they wouldn't post the site as being high in natural radiation. Especially after ground sampling confirmed the initial waist high readings and the types of radionuclides found. Just for children's sake. It would be interesting to know if any health surveys have been done there locally.

  • If Mr. Gundersen will no longer eat fish from the Pacific ocean, that's saying something. 😉

It raises several other questions though.

    1. How long until fish can be consumed? 300 years + ?

    2. Will it get worse? How much worse? How soon?

    3. How long until it IS a definite concern to swim at the beach?

    Basic common sense…
It would seem to me that with 3 melted cores producing fallout on a daily basis which is accumulating and spreading with no end in sight, that it is absolutely inevitable for us to see the coastal areas of the Pacific rim becoming a radioactively contaminated zone.

…and it really is just the beginning.

Arnie Gunderson wants accurate testing of seafood and publication of the results. If most tests come up negative, then I guess he would eat fish again until new tests reveal higher risk. But if public agencies are doing the testing, how can we be sure they aren't fudging the results like the EPA has done with atmospheric testing by turning off the stations when readings get too high?

I wonder what the fisheries and seafood packing companies are thinking about all this? I can imagine they are scared shitless that consumers may abstain from buying their products if people catch wind of this issue (no pun intended).

Let's all make an effort to query seafood suppliers as to where their products come from and whether they are testing for radiation!

"Arnie Gunderson wants accurate testing of seafood and publication of the results"
This is what WE ALL want.

      • Anybody can send these agencies a Freedom Of Information Act request. I've sent them to North Carolina DENR / the EPA and the publically funded TV station in Raleigh before.
There's lots of examples online to follow the format – send them in to anybody you are concerned about and see what you get back. If they don't respond properly, send it again with the added note you expect full cooperation this time before raising it with your local legislature. That usually works.

Where have all the SF bay area shorebirds gone? Why ducks are dying in a pond?

Bird count in Oakland shows surprisingly low tally

Disease outbreak in Redwood Shores pond kills 185 ducks in one week
Again, "the bird count in the pond now appears unusually low" (used to be "hundreds and hundreds of birds").

    • I need to take a closer look at the Official Audubon bird counts.

"The annual Audubon bird count in Oakland was a breeze this year: There were hardly any birds to count."

"Normally we'd see thousands of scaup and bufflehead and canvasback. This year it's staggering – we've hardly seen any," said Ruth Tobey, one of more than 200 volunteers who scoured the East Bay on Sunday with binoculars and clipboards, counting birds."

"It's like going back to summer camp to see your old friends, but suddenly your friends aren't there," she said. "It's a serious disappointment. But that's why we're here – to record the shifts and changes, for better or worse."

"Whether due to drought, the recent cold snap, climate change or some mystery of nature, the bird population at Arrowhead Marsh appeared dramatically lower this year."

Radioactive contamination via Fukushima, Japan was not mentioned.

      Why is that? 😉

  • Sit back with a drink and read this whole piece from NRC email's and transcribed conference calls between Washington and their US team leaders in Japan. Dry fuel pools, molten fuel and 76 REM Thyroid dose 50 miles away from the detonation zone!

MSM news coverage: I just posted this comment to Al Jazeera's comment section regarding their 4 part series on Fukushima.

"This is the biggest story in the history of mankind. This is the biggest story in the history of Al Jazeera.

Sorry to say, they blew it. You can put this channel, in with the rest of the MSM lapdogs and the rest of the propagandists. What a disappointment!"

  • Good job everyone, on primarily ignoring any trolls.

While reading the posts, so many useful informative posters, thank you. Was thinking about David Thoreau who mentioned how we often hack at the branches rather than going to the root of the issue.

What is at the root of the Hitachi-GE meltdown genocide event other than who it is that is holding our purse?

To shut that dirty bomb down will we not need to have control of our own money? Of course we will. How do we get control of the authority to issue our money?

STRIKE THEM OUT. Make a demand for labor to issue our money. Please take control of the issue of our money labor, then make some available to shut that death machine down. Thank you.
