Not too proud to be a Canadian today, I bet now there are even problems at other plants we dont know about. It is very hard to swallow that news, I couldnt believe it either when the page refreshed and i read this story. They probably dont even report half the stuff to the proper authorities. I remember a few days after 3/11 I heard about the pickering plant wanting to dump a bunch of nuclear waste in lake ontario, and since there was alot of talk about the nuclear fallout from Japan comming over to North America and all large Canadian and American media was blacked out from talking about fukushima I havent even been able to find that story again or anything else about it. Steven Harper needs to get his head out of his ass. I can’t believe they allow this plant in Quebec to renew thier licence it is pretty old. There are too many imcompitent idiots in every trade, in every country to have so many of these plants! I hope someone steps up and blows the whistle on whats really going on. This all gets worse everyday.

The Pickering plant did dump a good deal of water into Lake Ontario two days after fukushima.

pardon, that was radioactive water. It was announced in a small news bulletin and was described as ‘not dangerous to human health’. People were so worried about Fukushima that no one paid attention. Then all Canadian radiation detectors were shut down the next day. Things happen more quietly up here.

“Cote insists the facility isn’t a danger to the public.

    “It is safe,” she said.

“(This) is an incident that does not happen often, it’s within the normal operations of the plant.”

SP: “Within normal operations”….I think that says it all about the attitudes of the nuclear industry. They don’t give a damn about public safety…just interested in extending their jobs.
