Health Canada says no worries, Gander Beacon by Stephanie Stein, June 21, 2011:

In the June 2 edition of The Beacon, it was discussed how the release of radiation from the Fukushima plant in Japan could potentially be poisoning Canadian soil, and possibly central Newfoundland. Evidence from various radiation monitors and news reports have shown that it has become a worldwide issue, and given that the airspace is shared, Canada and the U.S. have been directly affected as well.

Even though local farmers have not tested their soil and water, Nita Abbott of LA Farms, near Gambo, expressed an interest in having her land tested to ensure they’re selling a safe product. The newspaper contacted private testing companies, government agencies, and universities to inquire if they would consider testing local farms. All of them said they were not interested in getting involved at any level. Health Canada also reported that everything is normal. [...]

    • If you wanted to make this go viral, you should call all monitoring companies and ask for results, for local data. Once turned down, ask for details as to why (who ordered it). under what justice department. ect…

There very well could be a network of lies that linger only a short distance away from the source.

Time will tell. But I would certainly want to know exactly how far ranged that is.
Someone should call all united states, private and public radiation monitoring companies state wide, aswell as the universities.

What if every company was blacking out this information all together… well that would be typical at this point. No doom there…

      right…

Well it certainly is a minor issue given what is happening, but I too find the use of all caps rather annoying. Also possibly self-important.

On a more positive note, here are some suggestions re trying to minimize damage to our bodies…sorry if redundant.

Carnicom is the premier researcher on chemtrails/Morgellons, one of the unsung heroes –
    http://www.carnicom.com/morgobs9.htm

I have not read this fully, but am sending for you to check out and also to say that a couple things you can do to protect both against Morgellons (chem trails gmo nightmare critter) and radiation are to keep your body in an alkaline condition. You can get strips that you can put in your urine and they will tell you if you are acid or alkaline.

The other thing is to look up free radicals and take things that aid against free radicals. Because radiation creates free radicals in our bodies.
Just a quick post here, while it is on my mind…

Being alkaline seems to help against radiation and against Morgellons.

One good thing against free radicals (which are created in the body by radiation and cause a good deal of destruction/mayhem in our bodies) seems to be garlic. You can get concentrated garlic supplements.

You maintain an alkaline body by eating mostly vegetarian/vegan. These days, vegan is best choice. Certainly dairy (and all animal products) are not a good choice except perhaps raw milk cheese from NZ in moderation.

This is very sketchy and I can try to find more info but for now it is a good start.

So — good things to try to do …

    Test your urine pH.

Drink RO+distilled water only. Maintain an alkaline body. Be careful what you eat, avoid greens now (one reason growing wheat grass indoors is such a good idea – also, you can buy powdered greens, try to go for the pre Fukushima grown and pkged stuff), try to eat root veggies and stuff with thick skins like citrus, watermelon, and stuff grown in So. Hemisphere, etc. Avoid animal products.

PS if you are working out, etc. you are inhaling more radioactive particles at this point in time, unfortunately. Due to deeper breathing. Inhaling more=inhaling more radioactive particles.

The Atoms for Peace program was based on a carefully cultivated myth, promulgated by a powerful international lobby. Nuclear power was portrayed as safe, clean, cheap and abundant — a miraculous energy source of infinite potential, having little or nothing to do with atomic bombs. Due to its strategic origins, every aspect of the nuclear industry was shrouded in extraordinary secrecy. In addition, the mysterious world of nuclear science seemed incomprehensible to the uninitiated. Government policies were largely based on the uncontradicted advice of the nuclear technologists who had dedicated their lives to making nuclear power a success.

foods need to be very contaminated (500bq/kg) to even come close to being geigerable.

moist soil is a much better candidate, since there is alot of it, but discerning background fluctuations from contamination may be a challenge (lead box?) and one will not get an isotopic determination, just a blanket reading.

2 detektors: one detects cs-137, the other does not; they both have similar energy ranges. the difference of the 2 should clue me in to the presence of cs-137.

if the ground is more radioactive than granite (~.16micros per hour), things are not looking good.

geigering air filters and water filters is feasible, since they will concentrate the particles.

take this thing by the day, we’ve all got a long time to mull it over cause contamination is here for the duration.

also, it appears sweating can excrete heavy metals.

Ann Clin Lab Sci. 1978 Jul-Aug;8(4):259-69.
Clinical response to therapeutic agents in poisoning from mercury vapor.
        Sunderman FW.
        Abstract

Exposure to mercury vapors for an hour per working day over a period of 13 years produced in a thermometer manufacturer severe signs and symptoms of mercury poisoning. Complete disability developed insidiously over the last six months of employment. During the first two months of observation, the patient was treated in succession with three chelating agents: 2,3-dimercapto-l-propanol (BAL), D-penicillamine and sodium diethyldithiocarbamate (Dithiocarb). Each agent was administered initially for a period of approximately two weeks. A second course of therapy with BAL was administered for three days. Of the three complexing agents used, BAL gave the most dramatically favorable clinical response and yielded the highest urinary excretions of mercury. Dithiocarb was partially effective; d-pencillamine proved to be essentially ineffective. Analyses of the patient’s sweat indicated that appreciable amounts of mercury were excreted by this route. Following the alleviation of the severe symptoms by BAL, the patient was placed on a regimen of daily sweats and physio-therapy for a protracted period of several months. On this latter regimen, the mercury levels in the urine, blood serum and sweat were decreased to within the normal ranges of values. The patient made a complete and uneventful recovery. In patients encountering psychotic and neurological disorders of undetermined etiology, consideration should be given to unsuspected or masked chronic exposure to mercury vapors as a possible cause.

“Releases of radioactivity due to leakage conceivable

A flood of the Missouri River, threatening the Fort Calhoun nuclear power plant in the U.S. state of Nebraska. According to the Atomic Energy Organization IPPNW doctors critical it is conceivable that the extreme high water has long been flooded due to leakage, the “basement” of the nuclear reactor, in which there are sensitive operational and safety systems. “In Germany there is the testimony of a former Siemens engineer, which regularly penetrated far less dramatic at high water levels of the Rhine water into the reactor building of Biblis,” says nuclear expert IPPNW Henrik Paulitz.

It is therefore possible for the regular cooling systems at Fort Calhoun is no longer functioning and is the cooling of fuel to emergency measures. Since the reactor shut down for maintenance work since April and the decay heat is low comparatively, the accident could pass unscathed.

“Beyond the sufficient cooling properties of the fuel is, however, the question of whether there was due to sheltering leaks contact between contaminated water and the cold river water, or is still to come,” said Paulitz. “One can not exclude that in this way it comes to radioactive releases to the Missouri River. Since the level of the river is still rising and if more dams are possible, the situation could escalate further.”

The IPPNW criticized that even two weeks after the start of the incident, neither the U.S. nor the German government authorities inform the public adequately. “It’s always the same phenomenon that industry and government do everything it can to hide and downplay such incidents,” said Paulitz. “States and nuclear industries are too much into each other involved, so that reason alone is already the necessary protection of the population does not guarantee a sufficient degree. The fact that nuclear power plants worldwide are threatened by high water levels of rivers at any time, occupied the uncontrollability of this technique. How many accidents and near accidents have you actually need to finally draw the necessary consequences? ”

If you could ever get everyone away from their flat-screen TVs, their game machines, and their Farmville that might be something, but I personally think we’re already a generation or two away from the critical thinking that would be necessary. Canada is also the first country and possibly the only one to remove all restrictions on Japanese food imports. There is no inspection of these materials at all. Search “fukushima” and select “realtime” from left-hand menu.

From a friend Japan Regular at HP:

“Bottom line from common observation about the Missouri River:

If the rubber dam breaks, we are in for contamination of the water in the holding pools. That could be a criticality-causing event. The snows are still meting in the Montana Rockies so we’ll be on the edge of our seats all summer because of Ft. Calhoun and the Cooper River plant.

Fukushima has three ways to go now that everything has burned through and there is criticality in some corium:

    Three options:

    (1) allow steam releases carrying particles and gases into the atmosphere, or

    (2) let the radiation to be picked up by the cooling water and carried into the ground water and ocean,

    (3) hit the entire mess with neutron bomb to snuff it out.

I see a conflict between what’s good for China’s population, Japan’s population, and North America, Europe.

I am not a nuclear engineer but I have followed these events. We will probably get lucky on the Missouri River but not in Fukushima. China will act to protect its population if there is no other solution.

i think this summary of the in depth tie it all up document above deserves its own space
“Over the years, in Albert Wohlstetter’s words, Canada has been “spreading the bomb without quite breaking the rules.” By accepting the double standard implicit in the Non-Proliferation Treaty, which assumes that some nations are entitled to have nuclear weapons while others are not, the Canadian government has blinded itself to the true magnitude of the challenge facing humanity, which is to eradicate these weapons from the face of the earth. Sister Rosalie Bertell of Toronto has suggested that Canada withdraw from the NPT on the grounds that the superpowers have already violated it. This could be a very constructive step on Canada’s part, for the NPT could then be tested in the International Court of Justice. Unless one of the parties to the treaty alleges that its provisions have been breached, the International Court has no jurisdiction to intervene.

Canada is too small to be a world power in terms of military might, but not too small to be a world leader for peace and disarmament. It is time to recognize that nuclear disarmament is an essential prerequisite for any peaceful application of nuclear power on a large scale. Canada could withhold its uranium and its reactors from world markets while bending all its diplomatic efforts to halt the nuclear arms race, and to reverse it. During the fall of 1982, in 118 municipal elections held across Canada, 76.5 percent voted in favour of phased, multilateral disarmament. If the government in Ottawa wishes to represent the people of Canada, these are the kind of policies it should be pursuing.

In so doing, Canada would acknowledge the wisdom of the Flowers Report from Britain, which concluded that horizontal proliferation and vertical proliferation are inextricably linked. Preventing horizontal proliferation

would be possible only in an atmosphere of general disarmament, and the prospects for this are receding rather than improving. It has been argued that the possession of these weapons by the USA and the USSR has been a powerful force for mutual toleration, but however true this is it would be folly to suppose that proliferation would necessarily lead to a similar balance and restraint in relations between other nations. Indeed, we see no reason to trust in the stability of any nation of any political persuasion for centuries ahead. The proliferation problem is very serious and it will not go away by refusing to acknowledge it.” bloody well said mate…errr what now folks!!

Well in case you havn’t heard Canadians just elected a Conservative Majority. Same government who as a minority derailed our part of Kyoto agreement.
The new supreme dicktator, Stephan Harper(our prime-minister) is pro army pro war pro economy, pro oil, anti welfare anti arts anti-abortion right-wing moral majority type. Thoroughly UnCanadian sez this Canadian!
The revolution is (sadly) over. Nobody can afford it, to busy on the economic hamster wheel and the majority are opiated by TV, video games and entertainment news. Kanada Kulture is no different to USA, Europe or Japan. Buy Consume and Ignore. The people who care and are aware are in the minority. Best we can do is sneak out the back door with the silverware! Canada sells uranium, bottom line.

Canada’s current government is heading to the Right under a born again, Millenniallist leader who now has a real majority. Mining is expanding in the northern part of the country and there are no plans to become a leader in Green movements or peace movements any time soon. Even the citizenship exam now features more military questions than formerly. It is a great disappointment.

The Biggest Threat to Nuclear Power: ‘Pencil Engineering’
    Jun. 21 2011 – 5:31 pm

In one of the largest investigative projects to examine domestic nuclear power in years, the Associated Press has produced a report that is thorough, straightforward and chilling. The article exposes the collusive process between the industry and government regulators that makes aging nuclear power plants appear safer than they really are.

It’s called “pencil engineering.” The AP story defines the process as “fudging of calculations and assumptions to yield answers that enable plants with deteriorating conditions to remain in compliance.”

Potassium Iodide: An Antidote for Radiation Exposure

    Manouchehr Saljoughian, PharmD, PhD
Department of Pharmacy, Alta Bates Summit Medical Center,
    Berkeley, California

    6/20/2011

    US Pharm. 2011;36(6):HS-25-HS-28.

Potassium iodide (KI) is an inorganic compound that is available from three manufacturers under different brand names as an antidote to radiation exposure. From a chemistry point of view, it is made from potassium hydroxide and iodine, and it is the most produced iodide compound in the world. It is preferred over sodium iodide salt because it is less hygroscopic and easier to handle; it is an odorless and stable white crystalline powder. Among its other applications, it is used in the photography industry to form silver iodide and in chemical laboratories as a source of iodide in organic synthesis. KI is also used in biomedical research as a fluorescence quencher through its iodide ion. Upon extended exposure to air, KI becomes yellow as a result of the liberation of iodine, and small quantities of iodate may be formed due to oxidation.1

Although KI has several medical and nutritional applications, its most important application is as an antidote to radiation. Recently, KI has been in high demand in the United States due to the warning about remote radiation exposure from the recent Japanese nuclear plant radioactive releases.2 For medical purposes, a saturated solution of KI is used to treat lung congestion (as an expectorant) and sporotrichosis (a fungal infection) and as an antiseptic in sore throats.

KI’s value as a radiation protective or antithyroid agent was demonstrated at the time of the Chernobyl nuclear accident when Russian authorities distributed KI in a 30-km zone around the plant. The purpose was to protect residents from the radioactive iodine, the most abundant and highly carcinogenic material found in nuclear reactors, that had been released by the damaged reactors.2,3

KI is supplied as 130-mg tablets for emergency purposes. It may also be administered as a viscous saturated solution of potassium iodide (SSKI). This formulation provides 250 mg of iodide per each five drops. According to the USP, each two drops of this solution (containing 100 mg of iodide) have the same amount of iodide as a 130-mg tablet of KI (130 mg = 100 mg iodide).2

    Thyroid Protection After Nuclear Accidents/Events

KI was approved by the FDA in 1982 to protect the thyroid gland from radioactive iodine released accidentally from nuclear power plants or during a nuclear attack. In these events, many radionuclide products may be discharged to the atmosphere. Of these products, I131 is one of the most common, and it is particularly dangerous to the thyroid gland.1

  • I think we can stop quoting (the alleged) “Doctor” Mark Sircus:

    http://scienceblogs.com/insolence/2009/12/arm_hammer_baking_soda_for_h1n1_influenz.php

“Sodium bicarbonate is the time honored method to ‘speed up’ the return of the body’s bicarbonate levels to normal. Bicarbonate is inorganic, very alkaline and like other mineral type substances, supports an extensive list of biological functions.

Sodium bicarbonate happens to be one of our most useful medicines because bicarbonate physiology is fundamental to life and health.”

Many chemotherapy treatments actually include sodium bicarbonate to help protect the patient’s kidneys, heart and nervous system. It’s been said that administering chemotherapy without bicarbonate could possibly kill you on the spot.

The stupid, it burns! Much like dropping some concentrated sodium hydroxide to “alkalinize” your skin would burn, actually. The reason that sodium bicarbonate is provided as part of a chemotherapy regimen is not to treat the tumor, but to protect the kidneys. Some chemotherapy regimens cause massive tumor cell lysis, and alkalinization of the blood with large doses of sodium bicarbonate helps prevent uric acid from tumor cell lysis from precipitating in the kidney and causing renal failure if urine pH can be kept above 7.0. Indeed, the syndrome has a name: Tumor lysis syndrome. Moreover, Tumor lysis syndrome doesn’t occur unless the chemotherapy has been very successful in killing tumor cells. Sircus is also apparently unaware that there has been some rethinking of whether alkalinization of the urine is as beneficial as once thought; it’s not as routinely done as it used to be. Maybe sodium bicarbonate isn’t so great after all.

Of course, that doesn’t keep Sircus from leaping to this claim:

Could it be that while mixing chemo poisons with baking soda, any improvements seen are the result of the baking soda, and not the toxic poisons? Dr. Sircus believes that may be the case.

“There are no studies separating the effects of bicarbonate from the toxic chemotherapy agents, nor will there ever be,” he says.

There’s a reason for that: It isn’t the bicarbonate that’s causing massive tumor cell lysis. It’s also unethical to give a patient bicarbonate alone without chemotherapy, which is the only way to “separate the effects” of bicarbonate from those of chemotherapy. The reason it’s unethical is because it’s unethical to deny effective treatment to a patient with cancer. In any case, Sircus is just as ignorant as Simoncini; he’s confusing an adjunct use of chemotherapy in a supportive role to try to prevent the complications of killing tumors with chemotherapy with using it therapeutically to treat cancer. I suppose I should be happy that he hasn’t claimed that cancer is

I have monitored gamma radiation levels in my area since the beginning. The background levels have doubled in the past 14 weeks. Of course, that doesn’t take into account the hazards of the hot particles. During the first couple of days in April, we had a three-day rainstorm that coincided with a heavy cloud of radiation that happened to waft down over our area. During the peak of that event, the reading rose to .26 r/hr., and lasted for about a day and a half. Before the Fukushima radiation, the reading was .02 to .025 r/hr. Now, the readings range from .04 to .05 r/hr. The levels are continuing to trend up.
