Cancer Expert in Fukushima: “There has undoubtedly been radiation poisoning, people shouldn’t be living here”; Officials only focus is covering up crisis — TV: On playground, we found radiation levels 2,000% higher than displayed by gov’t monitoring post (VIDEO)

Vice on HBO, Season 2 Episode 10, May 24, 2014 (at 3:45 in):

  • Dr. Masamichi Nishio, MD, Hokkaido Cancer Center radiologist who was examining children at elementary school 40 miles from Fukushima Daiichi: There has undoubtedly been radiation poisoning, so people should not be living here. But the government will not say that out loud. All they wanted to do was cover-up what had been done. There is a lot of secrecy. […]
  • Kayoko Hashimoto, Fukushima resident: The figures don’t add up. They don’t match what the government is saying.
  • Vikram Ghandi, Vice: The whole concept of these stationary Geiger counters becomes suspect when only a few feet away the readings are twice as high. And when you move even further away, those government monitors start feeling completely irrelevant. Over here by the edge of the school… Whoa. Sh*t. So the reading is now 3.5 [microSv/hr]. That level is 20 times higher than the monitoring post around the corner — on the playground, at an elementary school.

Vikram Gandh’s ‘Debrief’, May 24, 2014:

  • Shane Smith, Vice: Vikram Gandhi went to Fukushima, where levels of radiation have been drastically downplayed by the Japanese government. […]
  • Ghandi: Our Geiger counter was reading measurements up to 900 times the measurements we found in Tokyo.

Sorry, the full, technicolour horror is that they're people, like you and me.
Just as the post WW2 generation had to find rational explanations for the so called holocaust, so we have to find rational explanations for the current horror.

        Everyone's got a soul.

Some people are evil but "evil" is not to be confused with Hollywood's nonsensical portrayal of "evil" (bad make up and lots of drooling and moaning). Evil is just the absence of good, as dark is the absence of light. Neither dark nor evil are things that can grow, think, move or decide, they're just voids. There is a profound difference between a force grown evil, and evil as a force. The first is common place, the second doesn't exist.

Alas, the full horror is that this terrible mess was created by people like you and me. All perfectly explainable – the negation of personal responsibility in the face of hierarchy, "just following orders", etc.

Wherever man abides, mass graves are to be found.

        • Angela_R

your's is an interesting explanation, but as you note a force grown evil, does exist. Evil is the little tempting hidden voice that a good conscience dismisses. But when a conscience has been dulled..or when it has never grown
I believe that evil can fester and could take hold of an individual.

It is my opinion that Corporations are 'dead' Bodies, devoid of personal responsibility but they are driven by grouped forces. But they failed to understand the lesson of Nuremberg. The force of evil is parasitic it feeds on the life of good creative energy. It uses up and spits out. However if one individual, stood outside and manipulated that 'group think'….

The Vice-HBO video on Fukushima is excellent and should be watched by everyone.

Very interesting are the findings that abnormality and mortality rates of the butterflies got WORSE in each successive generation.

I believe we can see this happening with humans due to human-made nuclear-radiation exposure, beginning with atomic testing in the 1950’s…and nuclear meltdowns… and exposure to radiation released from nuclear power plants.

Notice around you how many people are dying in their 40’s and 50’s or getting cancers in those age groups.

Notice around you the increases in cancers in teenagers and people in their early 20’s.

Also notice a new push in TV shows and movies showing people in their late teens and early 20’s with cancer…is this to make everyone think cancer at a young age is the “new normal.”

    It’s not normal.

    It’s getting worse.

And Doctors never know the reason why there are so many cancers… but the answer seems very clear.

The answer is human-made nuclear radiation, imho.

Nuclear contamination and climate change are not mutually exclusive destroyers of habitat and life. The are equally devastating, but it's much safer for scientists to research and compile evidence of the latter. It is tough enough for climate scientists to carry on their important work amidst the most cynical and oppressive denier forces. But the nuclear cabal has a stranglehold on physicists, doctors, and many other professionals whose livelihoods depend on their corporate paymasters' approval and whose critical questioning of official propaganda would surely cause them misery or worse. We are talking about nothing less than a global mafia. So, I say let's not denigrate climate science in an attempt to elevate the extreme danger and ultimate destruction of life by nuclear power and weapons.

I don't watch TV as a rule, at home.

I was eating at a Chinese restaurant today, and the TV was on, and right above my table.
Among the wonderful items I noted: 1)A commercial for something to keep up your erection, 2)A pharma drug commercial. I did not need to hear a list of all the problems that could happen to you if you take their wonderful potion. (headaches, death, etc, etc, etc, etc.) A video shot of a bunch of happy, playful people and the punch line that this is the drug working for you! I imagined the dead guy. I guess I am a buzzkill. 3) A news clip where the first lady wants health school lunches. What a crazy lady. Healthy food before nutrition class would surely induce great cognitive dissonance. 4) Another commercial for a pharma drug that can really wreck your life, but you might get lucky so give it a shot, anyway. 5) I think they did not mention the missing plane today, unlike the last time I ate at this restaurant, when they announced they were going to look out by Australia because something shiny washed up on the beach. 6)I missed it, I was eating: Surely there must have been some mention of the triple meltdowns that caused me to skip the salmon, and only nibble a bit of crab, and some generic seafood. 7) No, no mention of anything about why I looked at the orange as if it came from the west coast of North America. 8) I kept wondering why they had two televisions in there, both playing at a level not loud enough to understand while chewing food,…

That's because skin cancers — particularly the most deadly kind, melanoma — are the most common kinds of cancers in Canada. And whereas the incidences of some cancers are actually going down, melanoma cases are on the rise, in both women and men. The skin cancer figures are among new national projections for the toll cancer will take in Canada this year. The cancer society estimates that 191,300 Canadians will get a new cancer diagnosis in 2014, and 76,600 will die from some form of cancer this year.
The estimate does not include 76,100 cases of non-melanoma skin cancer. Although these types of skin cancer make up about 40 per cent of all cancers in Canada, good estimates are not available because these types of cancers aren't generally reported as part of routine cancer surveillance.

The ground work has already been laid. The incease in cancers is not the fault of nuclear power, testing atom bombs, or even by C02, it is your fault for being an unhealthy slob who eats too much sugar and drinks too much alcohol.
And that will be, for anyone who has looked beyond the MSM, the real kicker – they're going to blame those cancers on the people suffering from them – on their diets and their lifestyles and of course, if you made "a lifestyle choice" that led you to ill health, why should anyone else pick up the cost of trying to cure you?

      • Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar VanneV

The exponential increase of cancer IS due to nuclear radiation and other environmental poisons. Melanoma, in particular is due to nuclear radiation and also there is more radiation from space as nuclear radiation especially for Fukushima has greatly enlarged the holes in the ozone layers over both poles. Australians also have increase in melanoma.

        Death to all propaganda.

      • No one "has" to pick up the cost of trying to cure you, there is no mechanism by which a class action would sucessfully sue the nuke cartel or say Monsanto and gang of mad scientists. There is no motivation to avoid blame in this way, in fact, there is motivation to keep selling people crappy food.

However the massive ramp up in cancers and other diseases started way before the post 9-11 attacks which caused American to lead the world to a "fatter new you" based on stress eating et al.

The exponential rise in cancers started at the nuclear age, and have been helped by chemical pollutants in our environment.

That reflects a misunderstanding of the science and the historical record. In all likelihood, climate change will be equally devastating to all life on earth. It will be millions of years before the earth can be renewed as a vital habitat, and by then most of the radiation humans have spewed out will have decayed. So, the point is moot.

He even goes around planting hydrangeas along the street in the neighborhood, so I imagine they are just in bloom about now. As one walks from the bus stop up a hill to his house, one can enjoy them one after another, blooming in the raindrops of this rainy season in Japan.

In my town the local government just measured 75 bq/kg of cesium in the schoolyard last august. That was the official numbers so not sure what the real numbers would be. Plus, that number was an increase from the previous year then so I would guess this year it has gone up again. Not sure about the 'fertilizer' that he uses. I have read rumours that radioactive sludge from aquifiers actually just ends up getting sold as fertilizer.

I guess there are just different degrees of ignorance –

there are people who say 'Fukushima wasn't as bad as Chernobyl!' and they are hopeless.

Then there are the people who solemnly shake their heads and say 'nooo… fukushima was MUCH worse than Chernobyl' – but still think that the world is still going to be O.K. – and they are clueless.

It makes sense bo,total sense. And what a thing to have to observe. It challenges the Zen Mind that's for sure. Your dad sounds so cool and yet to watch the destruction of his beautiful world must just be too much. He loves his garden and that is a strong love. Its very hard to watch and thank you for sharing here, because we can all identify only so far and your reflections and observations make the surreal way more concrete. No answers here. i bet his garden to him is the most beautiful garden in the world,he loves his home and his neighborhood his family. He cannot save himself.

              • Your dad sounds like an awesome man Bo! I wish there were more people like that in the world. I am sure it didn't cost your father very much for the hydrangeas and probably just a little of his time to plant them but the joy it must bring to each person that walks by and sees them is incredible and such a selfless act on your dad's part. Kudos!

Rebecca, GQ – 2 million hiroshima bombs… still thinking about that number 🙁

I just have no words when I think of his plants and the radiation that rains on them.
He has been planting cherry trees too.
He actually planted cherry trees here in Boston as well.

I shouldn't be so down on cherry blossoms.

                  • I can't even begin to imagine what you must be going through worrying about him Bo. The numbers and aftermath are staggering for North America; I really cannot process what the poor people of Japan are living with and going through on a daily basis. I have never been to Japan but up until 3 years ago it was one of the places I really wanted to visit and see. Unfortunately that dream is over.
I am sending you and your father a huge virtual hug and well wishes from Canada.

Bo how old is your father, I am only 57 and am content to stay in my little patch of paradise here in Brentwood Bay for as long as I have left. (Southern Vancouver Island)

I have no children and my wife, she was 66, died a couple of months ago, not radiation related to the best of my knowledge.

I just finished planting in my small greenhouse yesterday, I have 4 tomatoes, 4 peppers, strawberries, onions, peas, radishes, carrots, chives and basil planted.

Far more than I will ever use myself, but I get great joy from working it and sharing the produce with those that cannot grow their own.

I built the greenhouse out of completely recycled materials after my cancer in 2008, as sort of a therapy while recovering from the operation.

My point is even if the radiation levels here were as high as in Tokyo I would stay, I can look back on my life and be happy with no regrets.

I believe it is not how long you live that matters it is how well you have lived.

Perhaps your father feels the same way, he sounds like a wonderful man.

Jim bob your words speak volumes ..I too am 57 and I too feel I've had some good life , it's not over yet .
I have far more to learn and far to go before I sleep .
It would have been nice to go out in 20 years knowing that my children would have the same choices and beautiful things to experience ..I just don't know now what the next 20 will bring .

Jimbob, thank you for the kind words. I understand in theory
but emotionally I still can't agree.
I'm not arguing, I'm just describing my honest feeling.

Your greenhouse sounds amazing. It must be so nice to have an oasis like that to escape to and live for. Can you have butterflies inside too ?

                    • jimbob jimbob

Clam and Bo for some reason I cannot reply to your posts so I will try this.

I fully expect I have another 20 years on this plane before I move on.

My Lois and I have lived in this place for 8 years and have had great joy watching our neighbors daughters grow to 13 and 10 years old, they are wonderful children.

My heart bleeds for them but there is nothing I can do, they are stuck here, they have no way out.

I have talked about Fukushima with my landlord who lives right next door to me and he is relying on me to let him know when the shit hits the fan so he can get his children and Grandchildren to Argentina or South Africa.

He is from South Africa and his wife is from Argentina although they have both been in this little part of paradise for over 40 years.

Like me they will be staying come hell or high water, they are both in their mid seventies.

Not many butterflies in the greenhouse but there are a couple of little lizards that scurry around and commune with me.

They have absolutely no fear of me, we are friends.

  • TooExpensiveToMatter

"Over here by the edge of the school… Whoa. Sh*t. So the reading is now 3.5 [microSv/hr]. That level is 20 times higher than the monitoring post around the corner — on the playground, at an elementary school."

The acceptable limit set by the Japanese government is 1 milliSv/yr for the public which works out to about 0.1 microSv/hr (constant rate)

The folks who live/work/go to school in the area referred to above may not be experiencing a constant 3.5 [microSv/hr] but it ain't any real stretch to think they may be experiencing a level that is well above the limit.

And the above illustrates another thing that folks here as well as people like Arnie Gundersen note all the time: the idea that hot particles exist in the Fukushima area and that the danger is not simply in being in proximity to one of those hot areas but in breathing in a hot particle or getting it on one's hands and ingesting it.

Oh yeah. Tobacco. All carcinogenic. But downplayed…..Encouraged even…The powers that be in Europe, Canada, US, Russia and others play this game with all carcinogens, including radiation. You probably even think you need one of the above mentioned. Only Their economy needs this poison. If mankind does not stop the flow of radioactive isotopes into the ocean and atmosphere from Fukushima, it is only a matter of time till the rest of the planet becomes a dead zone, it is not substianable and bio accumulation will slowly magnify into the environment.
We must find solutions to all the seemingly insurmountable obstacles in our path, I refuse to believe we can not fully control the situation, the sooner the better but it will take small gains over a long period of time to accomplish, let's hope we have enough time, let's get at it, time is the enemy now?

  • Myself, I try to leave a gentle footprint on our planet. I can't control others. Know that any similar accident will be handled the same way. Personally , I thought Russia did the better job responding to a nuclear melt down. Japan is just missing in the wind as far as any true mitigation. They are more concerned with saving the economy. True mitigation would seriously bankrupt the world economy. Nobody wants that, right?
You would rather have extra cesium, plutonium, etc., in your seafood, right? Every day how many tons of radioactive water leaches into the Pacific from our allies. No major news cast. You figure it out.

Not that these details matter much anymore…
    But what is '2000% more'?

100% more is basically 'twice as much' correct?
So is '2000% higher than government measurement'
20x 'twice as much' = 40 times higher than government measurement ??????

    Confusing 🙁

    • humptydumpty humptydumpty

I think 2000 percent is used in conjunction with "more" but what is really meant is "as much". So, 100% is baseline and 2,000% is 20 times AS MUCH AS (not MORE THAN) baseline.

I just needed to come back to tell the egomaniacs and ignorants that I never needed their approval nor do I care about your approval about YOU agreeing about the ANTIDOTES I mentioned. I JUST WANTED YOU TO SPREAD THE WORD. So to the ones who get an hard on reading about high radiation levels etc instead of trying to help people I can only say that I am very sorry for you. It not about you, you see if you are trying to undermine an important factor for the SURVIVAL of many people you are responsible too and no better than the liers out there.

Its a fact that Cesium 137 and Plutonium 238 stay here, but what you can do is to take antidotes in order to get the radiation out of your Body. (There is nothing else we can do to protect ourselves as the radiation is out there and continues to be)

To the ones who truly care about other people. Spread the ANTIDOTES and DEMAND them from your GOVERNMENT…Unite to have access to them.

Here a Video that will give you information about FACTS…

    • Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar VanneV

TY, Argo. I sometimes suspect that disparaging remarks about help against radiation are from those who aren't totally against nuclear technology and are really hoping a lot of people die of radiation poisoning–when politics takes precedence over science.

Why else criticize people trying to help others the best they can? We have to use the best science available to help the children of tomorrow. Maybe the ELitEs are relying on the pseudo doctors and Psedo scientists. The rest of us need to follow the best science available or that we can afford.

Demand them from the government, right. The corporate-bought congress. You can't even demand clean water, and catching water off your roof is illegal in places. Nestle CEO argues that clean water is not a right, but a commodity to be sold.

Maybe Nestle can figure out how to get tritium out of water. I wonder how much they will ask the fish for to get a glass of water.

Atomic radiation causes climate/environment change, as does releasing trapped carbon. The difference being atomic radiation via act of species destruction accelerates the process dramatically. Methane from species murder creates huge releases warming up the planet; thus creating climate crisis.

The joy of devil (devoid of compassion and mercy) beings has only just begun. Whoring with dollar g-d of Atlantia saves no one.

Collecting the real estate of earth by act of the theft has brought much glory to Babylon the great. These possessed beings filled with crime even proudly build stained glass windows to the Saints and Prophets they murdered. Failing to understand the connection of all universal energy. They are taught to take up an imposter demon and reject their true form.

I had been thinking something wasn't quite right when I viewed Japan rad readings on NETC. I felt something wasn't right and the GCs had been manipulated that were given out. There is no way that their readings could be less than the US and lower than my Inspector readings here. Converting nanos to Sieverts- check it out it is completely out of whack. I believe the Japanese government lopped of a few zeros and now this news confirms it.
Also, I am wondering if North Korea isn't adding a little rad steam to the mess because they don't like Japan and America. Of course when the wind is blowing in this direction. Just a thought…hmmmm.

  • FXofTruth

The unfortunate truth is that cancer is a curable disease.
The super rich always get cured. Funny how you never hear about them getting cancer. They don't use concoctions that are deadly, expensive poisons to fight cancer like chemo is.

There ARE treatments available to us all but they have been called "alternative medicine and treatments" because the medical industry dismisses it as "voodoo medicine". Yet, the survival rate of traditional medicine's expensive "witch doctor chemical formulas" are in the single digits. Alternative (proven) medicine and procedures are in the 65 – 95% range but, people don't research enlightened ways to fight cancer nor do they trust that actual cures are available to them. People believe the lies of mainstream medicine right to their end.

Another big question is: With all the billions of dollars given to cancer organizations and research, no cure yet from mainstream medical quacks? That's because the billions in free money given has this reminder attached to all that wealth: "FIND A CURE AND LOSE THE MONEY."

So guess what, they will make sure to NEVER broadcast a cure has been "discovered."

  • Argo Argo

Not sure if this was posted here already, but wanted to make sure everybody GETS this….

I cant believe, ANY Government in the World is accepting any death toll (of 1.3 Million in the US) as in Chernobyl where to THIS date people die of cancer…nobody is telling the people in the affected areas that they discontinue eating wild mushrooms, truffels etc but rather have them dead. This fact is so unbelievable and disturbing!!!!!

Why I mentioned the Antidotes is, because the bodies will not be exposed to the radiation for too long and so there are chances for a large number survival (as you can see, the effects come in 5-10 years)…the Governments need and are obliged to give those Antidotes to the people…in Germany I heard they even told people within days of Chernobyl that they shouldnt take any Iodine…I mean seriously, where are we and how come that we let them come so far?

On one hand, I believe that we as a race are doomed, on the other I think that even so, we should help as much as we personally can.
