Cesium spikes in Tokyo Bay samples
Contamination linked to Fukushima plant; no immediate threat to health

Sludge samples taken at the mouths of two major rivers emptying into Tokyo Bay showed radioactive cesium contamination linked to the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant crisis grew by 1.5 to 13 times since August, a researcher at Kinki University said Monday.

The contamination poses no immediate health risk [...]

“Contamination is flowing into the bay from rivers, including the Edogawa River, where cities with high radiation levels like Kashiwa (in Chiba Prefecture) are located upstream,” Yamazaki told The Japan Times. [...]

[...] the peak contamination concentrations should be within the next couple of years, considering that the half-life of cesium-134 is about two years, Yamazaki said.

“If the contamination were to spread to fish, it is possible that radioactive isotopes could accumulate when bigger fish feed on smaller ones,” he said. [...]

"No immediate threat to health"….I am going to make a t-shirt with this on it and include Edano's picture with a plane flying to Singapore.

Me, too. Maybe the phrase means "no immediate threat" of TEPCO being held accountable?

IF???….wow, the fish are IN the contamination 24/7, eating food sources that are IN the contaminated water…Don't think there are any IF'S here. Don't eat the fish, don't touch the water, don't inhale around the area. The damage is overwhemling.

      Bioaccumulation
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bio-accumulate

Bioaccumulation refers to the accumulation of substances, such as pesticides, or other organic chemicals in an organism.[1] Bioaccumulation occurs when an organism absorbs a toxic substance at a rate greater than that at which the substance is lost. Thus, the longer the biological half-life of the substance the greater the risk of chronic poisoning, even if environmental levels of the toxin are not very high.[2] Bioaccumulation, for example in fish, can be predicted by models.[3] Biotransformation can strongly modify bioaccumulation of chemicals in an organism.[4]
Bioconcentration is a related but more specific term, referring to uptake and accumulation of a substance from water alone. By contrast, bioaccumulation refers to uptake from all sources combined (e.g. water, food, air, etc.)[5]

… Someone needs to correct Wiki and add radiological bioaccumulation, specifically.

Why do they speak in future tense about rivers and fish in them? It is better to eat ocean fish, than from rivers in this part of Japan. And prediction about the highest cotamination is made as if the accident is over, but it is not! These reactors are open festering wounds!

Gee… Did they tell the IOC about this? Guess not. Must have been a big case of old radium bottles.

Bet those were more like fuel cell or assemblies..not old radium bottles. Otherwise why would the authorities gotten their shorts in such a twist over photos of them?

Snorting 10 ounces of cocaine comes with no immediate health risk. Eating Borax industrial cleaner does not hard small children. Skydiving with no parachute is a good idea. Eating feces is more nutritious than Pepsi. Nuclear waste is not going into the ocean. People will grow wings and fly to the rapture after eating the flesh of a freshly hunted dinosaur. The nuclear industry would like you to believe all of the statements above and takes no responsibility for any of their actual truth. The PR gameshow is a global disgrace. Core interaction with the environment underneath the power station should have been a concern long ago. China Syndrome is showing steady releases of Xenon into the air and Cesium in the water outside of Tokyo bay where daily dumping of burned waste/everything is taking place. The whole damn zone is a blinking skyshine nightmare yet the poison continues to spread. Only one American senator has expressed concern and god bless Bernie Sanders in congress for his work with Thom Hartmann, but honestly little can be done to squelch releases of new particles. Believe what you may skeptics, but the radiation is here for a good hundred million years. By the time our sun devours our solar system the last remains of Fukushima may have entirely dispersed. Nuclear power. It's FOREVER.

Where are the earthquakes? I'm more worried day by day. The released energy over the past weeks has been dropping and dropping, to me this looks like quite a buildup.
Anybody here on the topic of CME's (CB,…?) with some info re. the current solar flare situation?
    Thanks!

Is Japan monitoring the radiation level at the sewage plants to see how much radiation has past through the people. I have asked this several times with noresponse, they only talk about sludge from rivers but I do not know if it includes human sewage or not. I believe Japan uses most human waste for fertalizer. Sure would like to know.

RichardPerry, some of the prefectures publish radiation measurements of sewage sludge.

And yes, they use it for fertilizer, but there is a radiation limit they cannot go over. America also uses it for fertilizer, but there are no radiation measurements at all.
