[REMOVED] Seeing that dog chase the car and for them not to stop is sad and dissapointing.
Report Comment
Please save your wrath for the ones that actually created all of this drama .. the nukers.
Tepco, the japanese government, the nuclear industry .. they are the cause of all this heart breaking grief. The nukers will generate this scene a million times for eons to come.
The nukers need to feel your wrath – not the victimised family and their poor pets.
Feel that anger.. hold it, focus it … bring down the nukers!
Because this is going to keep happening till you/we/us stop them.
Report Comment
I want to clarify something. Im not trying to demonize these people for abandoning their pets. If i was faced with the same cirumstances as them i wouldnt have abandoned my pet. Now richard trust me when i tell you i have all my hatred reserved for the Nuke industry and the people and politicians that support it. I am currently working on a film that i hope will bring the threat of nuclear disaster to everyone in the US and around the world.

No problem Dr.. i understand that misunderstandings can happen on blogs – and that this is a very touchy subject with all of us keen for truth and fairness.
I'd sure like to see your film when it's done

I do not believe anyone that uses this handle. Go away!

This handle was used in the most inappropriate of ways during the early days of Fukushima on HP. It was banned eventually with some other posters. Whoopee and CaptD would remember.

I pretty sure (>95%) this is not the same one.
Old DSL is Atoms at HP, (along with several other socks). Doesn't matter, people see through them anymore, I have fun making fun of them.
cheers dude, good to see you posting again!

Dr.Strangelove,
Happened tens of thousands of times around that area and months !

Life's choices are hard and sad, when nothing else left to do !
Report Comment
Life choices are probably coming our way too. Oh this is so horrific. Can you just imagine?! we are 1 disaster away from the same in the states.
Report Comment
Yea but most people develop a bond with their dogs that is similar to a bond people have with their family members. I know some people dont develop that bond and its their loss. Personally me leaving my dog for dead would feel the same as leaving my brother or sister for dead.
Report Comment
For sure, dogs are not "like" family, they become family indeed, unless you just consider them to be chattel.

Many people knew they were going to shelters where they were told that there were no facilities for animals and they could not bring them, but often went back to feed them in the video of your comment, this was such one visit to feed the animals, see how rough they look, … See the filled plates of foods on the floor for the cat,… I have seen many videos such as this, …life has changed suddenly and forever … no mans land !
Report Comment
@xdrfox – Thank you for framing this sad video appropriately. It pains me to the pit of my stomach when people have situations like this inflicted upon them. This family should be championed for their efforts. I wish them well and that they and their animals suffer no more anxiety and pain than they can bear.

Over the months following there were groups that raised monies and went back to retrieve many pets and there are videos of these rescues, some of them anyway !

Exquisite creatures Stock!

Thanks, they are the best dogs.
Report Comment
stock, beautiful shepherds. How can yours be the best if mine already are? If I can figure it out, I'll post a pic of mine. For the record, I'd drive back home to get mine if Vermont Yankee popped, though going home would be closer to the source. Even if I knew it would be my last experience as a human I'd want to be with my dogs.

You could try screencast and Jing, both free.
Yep agreed, I would be their friend to the end, whatever may come.
Report Comment
Just from your reaction I cant even watch this video Dr Strangelove. My heart just cant take it. What I don't understand is why they chose to film and publish such a horrible chapter in anyone's family. They could have probably made the point without showing animal cruelty.
Report Comment
Anthony,
The Gov's, did this, not the families !
Report Comment
Thank you xdrfox.
We should try and watch to gain a little more understanding of what people are going through and the choices they are forced to make.
Report Comment
No problem, … and may I ad, these folks are risking their lives going back each time to feed their beloved animals=family !
See the plastic coats they wear in the 1 hour stays !
Report Comment
I know that. I am not passing harsh judgement on the family but am questioning why they included such a scene.
Report Comment
And furthermore, there would be no excuse NOT to euthanize and unwanted animal rather than to leave it to starve to death. Having not watched the video I also hope they tried to give the pet away as well.
My compassion for people is only exceeded by my love for animals.
Thank you.

I escaped to South America, and brought my dog with me.

They did not have that choice. They were told "no pets!" They were also told they could return home soon.

Fukushima evacuees mourn lost pets (Video) ~ REUTERS
http://www.reuters.com/video/2012/04/22/fukushima-evacuees-mourn-lost-pets?videoId=233748167
"The plant was damaged by a massive earthquake and tsunami on March 11 last year. The memorial organizer said many don't know for sure what happened to their pets, making it hard to find closure. Attendees shared pet photos and left food as offerings. This woman said the ceremony was a way to show society that people care about animals."

At 13:30 I started to tear up, by 14:30 I was crying. (looked like my old dog)
Everyone and everything is suffering.
The seemingly randomness of the 'hot spots' and the continued accumulation cannot be stopped.
Plutonium found outside of the plant area means only one thing.
With obvious multiple catastrophic calamities waiting just around the corner in those spent fuel pools and elsewhere I'm sure.

I would rather stay and die with my cat than abandon him. He is my life. 15 years of us taking care of each other; that's a bond nothing in the world will break. Trust me when I say, if I caught my husband of five years hurt my cat, I'd leave. My Noah is my child; I have to have a hysterectomy in Sept. 2011 before I had a chance to have children. He's all I have that I know is definitely 110% true to me.
If I sat on the shores and watches the tsunami coming, I would be holding on tight to him and I'd just take a deep breath after telling him how much mommy loves him.

The Life Of Throw Away. People in this generation are so used to throwing things away even pets. I have a cat and a dog that some people just threw away and I see it more and more. People see that throwing their Pets away and leaving them like this is also cruel. The problem is that japan won't help its own people, they are throwing their people away too for $$$$$$$$ and greed.

I can tell you that when your friend looks up at you and winks at you, and you wink back, knowing that he understands you and jumps up into your arms, there is nothing, nothing, that will ever seperate us, ever.
The love of our fellow creatures is one of the purest golden gifts that Man is blessed with in his journey through life.
You are ultimately judged upon that.
The highest power knows that these people had no choice, wanted to keep their cherished pets and the ones who caused this bond to break will pay with whatever soiled souls they have left.
