U.S. had plans to nuke the moon
[...] It was a top-secret plan, developed by the U.S. Air Force, to look at the possibility of detonating a nuclear device on the moon. [...]
[Physicist Leonard Reiffel, who led the project], now 85, spoke to CNN at his home in Chicago. [...]
The military considerations were frightening. The report said a nuclear detonation on the moon could yield information “…concerning the capability of nuclear weapons for space warfare.” Reiffel said that in military circles at the time, there was “discussion of the moon as military high ground.”
[...] Various news reports since 1958 have said project leaders considered using an atom bomb the same size as “Little Boy,” the bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan, near the end of World War II. [...]
Reiffel had some brilliant minds on his team. One of them was an up-and-coming graduate student named Carl Sagan. [...]

Nuke the Moon! Hell, nuke Uranus and show 'em who's boss.

It's heartening to know they gave up the project in 1959 because they didn't want to disturb the background radiation levels on the moon with man-made radioactivity.
It would have been wonderful to be granted the same courtesy here on earth.

Surely , no one believes their crazy antics have ended. God only knows what they are doing now under the cloud of secrecy. The same cult of psychos ruining it for the rest of the world.

They're not even hiding it anymore.
Look at this:
"NASA TESTS NUCLEAR POWERED SPACE TRAVEL"
"American scientists have tested a type of nuclear fission technology which could be used on space flights. It is the first experiment to produce electricity with a nuclear reactor system meant for space since 1965."

And nuclear powered cars:
"Cadillac debuted at the 2009 Chicago Auto Show its World Thorium Fueled concept car powered by nuclear energy."

crazy antics…God only knows what they are doing now…I recall a couple decades ago two senators sponsored a bill seeking funding to look into the possibility of stopping volcanoes from erupting. Maybe a bomb to plug the thing??

That's right, you fellas have already destroyed this planet, why not take a shot at the moon, what the heck. If spent fuel didn't weigh as much as it did they would probably rocket that up to the moon for disposal. What can ya say at least they reconsidered, Progress?

We have enemies on the Moon?
Report Comment
No more than we had in Nevada, New Mexico, Bik ini Atoll, etc., when we nuked their backyards and caused fallout to rain down all over them.
Report Comment
See how effective? The U.S. was NEVER attacked by Nevada, New Mexico or the Bikinians ever again. That's why we enjoy peace and freedom here today. Operation Crossroads, you're my HERO.
