how about ‘never supposed to happen’ or ‘indicative of cataclysmic planning deficiencies’ or ‘a sign that we have should have abandoned this type of power long ago’?

I’m no expert on any of this by any means, and it has been a while since I stayed at a Holiday Inn, But,
My gut feeling tells me that this is all too coincidental…
Think of the odds of all this happening at once…

  • Yes, a primary headline is still (at the moment) Fukushima, yet these calamities with the now three nuclear plants in the USA are also very real. What it actually seems like to me is that they do really want nuclear disasters in the USA as soon as possible and they are working on making that happen in every way they can.

“Pretty jarring to see a boat tied up to a nuclear power plant”

I guess this dumb congressman didn’t read the Emergency Response Plan for Fort Calhoun.

“In case of flood please tie your transportation boat up to this buoy.”

I hope some independent agency will very soon do lab testing of the Missouri River just downstream from this plant.

possibly a question for Marco Kaltofen,
Worcester Polytechnic Institute…scroll down just after half way when mark K enters the discussion and work up the comments from there..note the comments from the BRAWN team members…maybe i missed this post dated the 11th of may,,,bit of a surprise though!

mark did the testing for fairwinds using a more accurate bit of equipment!! supposedly!

I didn’t like what Marco had to say about Americium found only in the dirt of Los Alamos!

my take on that was he found larger 150 micron particules there…the comments were talking about his equipment picking up the lighter elemets as well and the brawn equipment could have missed it.. also they admit…it seems that they cant get the lighter elements

obviously i should agree that the finding in los alamos certainly makes the sitution worse :(

I think that you are right, his equipment found the lighter particles coming from Japan.

I was thinking that of all the soil in the country, that Americium-laced soil is burning right now, so the nuclear materials aren’t “safe,” no matter what the officials say.

Thanks, arclight. I posted it in another thread.

I no longer believe much of what the UCB nuclear guys say, do you?

Here is an email I just sent to Congressman Fortenberry thinking somehow he might, just might have a tiny interest in radioactivity now that he has a full blown potential nightmare in his lap.

    “Dear Congressman Fortenberry,
You are the first US Rep that has mentioned a nuclear reactor screwing up. Chances are without the flooding at Ft. Calhoun, it would have meant very little to you. Now that your eyes are open to the danger, Fukushima has been going on since mid March and is still spewing poison with no end in sight and the jet stream is spreading it across the entire US. I’m in Oregon, so my area is getting it worse than Nebraska right now. Please make some of your colleagues in the House aware of what is going on re: radiation. The best website that has the most current info regarding this mess is enenews.com. That is the website, by the way, that I found the article that mentioned your name in conjunction with the flooding at Ft. Calhoun. I am not one of your constituents, but I did have a slight glimmer of hope when you at least acknowledged that there was a potential radioactivity problem “right here in River City”. I implore you to put a member of your staff on the Fukushima/Ft. Calhoun/Los Alamos nuclear issue. There is NO safe level of ingested or inhaled radionuclides whether it originates in Nebraska or Japan or New Mexico.
    Thanks for your time, and….
    Regards,”

I don’t expect anything at all from this, but I just can’t help rattling their fucking cages once in a while.
