Nuke query: What if dam breaks?, Omaha World Herald, July 1, 2011:

Federal regulators want to make certain Nebraska’s flood-threatened nuclear reactors have adequate safety measures in place if a dam breaks upstream, so they have asked the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for its latest analyses on the risks of dam failure. [...]

High release rates have caused erosion in some areas downstream or around the spillways at each of the dams, [John Bertino, head of dam safety for the corps' Omaha district] said.

On Friday, the corps plans to interrupt spillway releases for several hours at Big Bend Dam so it can check there for possible erosion, he said.

“None of the erosion issues are dam safety concerns,” he said. The dams “are performing really well, just like we designed them … they have performed to these levels several times before.”

More government lies to assure the public of its safety. This story is self contradictory, the author is almost certainly right when she states that the spill gates are releasing record levels of water. But in the last paragraph the government’s spoke says that they have performed to this level several times before.

We just saw yesterday or the day before that the one Dam had cracks. ( news coming in to fast to remember anymore)

That is ‘performing as needed’ ?

Bozo the Clown could do a better job than our ‘officials’ do. :(

I am following 15-30-60 minute NWS updates on 15 Missouri River gauges from Fort Peck to Rulo, but cannot find the gauges for Big Bend or Oahe.

Anyone know who runs those and gives the readings? THX.

Water gauge levels from Fort Peck to Omaha are flat or slightly rising, except for CHAMBERLAIN SD, which after being up 5 feet in the last 8 days to a record stage near 75 feet, is now suddenly down maybe a half foot in the last hour at the 1130 am cdt reading.

Continuing at this rate of drop is too fast to be a release, so I hope it isn’t trouble, and will check every 15 minutes.

The just-released 12:00 pm cdt Chamberlain reading at 74.43 down from 74.48 at 11:30 is suggesting a steep drop of 2.4 feet per day, more than a normal increase in the release rate.

Something else is going on here.

The Chamberlain readings appear 35 minutes after the reading time, so 11:05 est. pdt time for the next 12:30 cdt reading. (let’s see…big hand on six, little hand on…).

But this is an unusual amount of water leaving Chamberlain if the minus 2.4 feet per rate continues.

Good eye yourself BB, they released the 12:00 early, but it isn’t good.

Minus .2 feet in one hour from 74.48 at 1130 to 74.28 at 12:30 is a huge drop of 4.8 feet per day.

Something big is going on here: a leak, some unusual release, or who nose?

Bet this is new thread material soon.

NWS hydrologic and Army Corps, come in, come in:

Some untrained civilian bloggers think you may have a problem developing at Chamberlain that needs your immediate attention.

Water level there dropping now at 4 feet per day, and we would like to know if moving our 4th of July campground further downstream is necessary.

    Do you read? Over.

Anyone recall the unverified video charging that explosives had been placed on Gavins Point Dam.
“Gavins Point Dam South Dakota Omaha Nebraska Impending Flooding Coming!”

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WT5245SHCM

Now if you saw that you may recall the guy DID mention COUNCIL BLUFFS, IOWA in his video…2:55 starting “When you go across river on Interstate 480 into Council Bluffs Iowa there’s a large apt complex on the north side left hand side as you go into town. A VERY BIG COMPLEX. Those people have been evacuated out for a week, week and a half, maybe 2 wks as it is not mandatory yet. Anyway, yesterday (June 25) the National Guard there driving inside the complex, around the complex surveying it. We got National Guard Troops all over levees that are here. They were suppose to blow a levee in Plattsmouth which is south of my position. I do not know if it’s been blown yet, have not been watching news. I have other concerns at this point to make preparations of my own. I’m not personally in the flood plans as it were when I sit on a site of a good sized hill. Effects, we could lose our electric and fresh water 2 maybe 3 months, we don’t know. Employer cleaned up shop things have been relocated in the flood plan before info about the dam being blown (Gavins Pt dam SD) came down the pipe. We could face tremendous losses. Not only will water come down river, the channel is FULL, no channel as it were to hold that water, it’s gonna spread out. Anyways, if you don’t live in the area and you;re watching this video, I’m going to ask you to please pray for Council Bluffs and Omaha.”

So now here is this strange news. There is reporting that authorities believe the levee was blown up by an unknown group of citizens north of Council Bluffs. And that very good question:

The obvious question that has not been asked by the corporate controlled media is that if the group is unknown how do officials know that they are simply local citizens and not terrorists or rogue intelligence agents????

I’m wondering about Council Bluffs still and
what is with that very large apartment complex evacuated and the National Guard Troops surveying such and the unverified video man’s plea asking to please pray for Council Bluffs and Omaha??? Not that I think he had anything to do. He knew something was amiss over there or why did he bother mention this complex and the National Guard Troops?

I don’t expect dams to break, overflow yes. hopefully not to much for the NPP’s sake…

Ofcourse, DAM’s have broke in the past but that was constructions problems, if they where subjected to stress and didnt broke they will not now. unless a really big earthquake hit then, or a meteorite…

Already answered on the other thread, maybe too dangerous
to speculate about the Gavin’s Point rumor…
we are so spoiled by instant videos, aren’t we?
So, in following the thread, I wonder if it is correlated
directly, the drop in Chamberlain levels compared to
the timing of the Iowa unknown-levee-bombing?
Jesus my Lord please give these folks a new comfortable
place and good life somewhere safe, Amen.
