Core of Stricken Reactor Probably Leaked, U.S. Says, New York Times, April 6, 2011:
The United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission said Wednesday that some of the core of [the No. 2] reactor had probably leaked from its steel pressure vessel into the bottom of the containment structure, implying that the damage was even worse than previously thought. …
If molten fuel has left the reactor’s pressure vessel and reached the drywell in substantial quantities, it raises the possibility that the fuel could escape the larger containment structure, leading to a large-scale radioactive release.
A training manual developed by the companies that operate this type of reactor and dated 2009 refers to the possibility of “creep rupture,” in which molten core material begins seeping through a hole in the vessel and creates a bigger hole as it works; the document says the molten core material can “ablate” a bigger hole. It can then burn through the steel at the bottom of the drywell and interact with the concrete, producing carbon monoxide and hydrogen, which could react explosively. …

If it didn’t then, it certainly did after the 7.4 quake 75 miles from Fukushima and these 5 cluster site neutron fluxes as seen from Tokyo:

It was reported on NHK today that the blue flash was a transformer station exploding the camera is looking away from the plant. The transformer loss is the reason Japan’s northern island of Hokkaido.

Oops, I hit the reply button too soon. I meant to say, “The transformer loss is the reason Japan’s northern island of Hokkaido lost power.

Great find, Mothra. Those blue flashes of light occurring during the earthquake cannot be good.

Reactor 2
The International Atomic Energy Agency says that the fuel and the reactor core were severely damaged. The primary containment vessel may have been damaged in an explosion and highly radioactive water is leaking out of pit near the reactor into the ocean. The reactor has 548 fuel assemblies and the spent fuel pool has 587.

Unbelievable. The silent killer on its way, literally.

Could be transformers blowing, could be the so called “earth quake lights”. Not sure on this one at all.
But one thing I hope it is not, is a nuclear related event at Fukushima.

The video is taken from Sendai not Tokyo and is directed north not south where the power plant is located so the flashed are unlikely to be related to anything nuclear.

Yikes – could it be Onagawa? They had a fire after the tsunami and lost power during this quake.

SkyNews reported this was taken in Tokyo, so I’m curious where you’re getting the Sendai footage information from? If it’s Sendai – they should clarify that I feel.

It is Sendai and my source is NHK world TV
