Anyone read “The Island of Doctor Moreau”?

The Island of Doctor Moreau is an 1896 science fiction novel written by H. G. Wells. It is told from the point of view of a man named Edward Prendick who is shipwrecked, rescued by a passing boat, and then left at the ship’s destination by the crew along with the ship’s cargo of exotic animals. The island is home to a scientist named Doctor Moreau, who is conducting bizarre and cruel experiments on the animals he has imported, attempting to create sentient beings out of animals.

The novel deals with numerous philosophical themes, including the need to take responsibility for the things we create, the question of what makes a man a man, the cruelty of nature and of man, and the dangers of trying to control nature.

He misses one out: using the unseen, unknown as a form of social control, but …a very good book, worth reading (and a short-ish one, so easy to get through).

PU239, I have not read The Island of Doctor Moreau, but I remember seeing a clip of how Marlon Brando decided to play his part in the movie. He was wearing a pair of boxer shorts and had a lampshade upside down on his head. :>) O.K., I’ll put that on my hold list at the library. Thanks for the reminder.

    Revolution in peace.
We are witnessing a revolution, if not creating one with our efforts.
The events of 2011, all of them, signal an awakening of consciousness.
We look towards our elected officials for answers and receive silence or lies.
We gather our information with fears of redaction and retribution.
Our belief in the system has been shaken to the core.
We can no longer sit silently while the catastrophic noise gets louder.
Our hearts and minds tell us that there is very little time to waste.
As shown in Oslo, evil takes any side, left or right.
Our mother earth recognizes this and sends her notice, day after day.
This is not so much about mans survival, but the survival of the earth.
Not the physical earth, but the survival of the breath of life.
There are those who wish to control that breath of life.
Foolishly believing they can determine who can and can’t take that breath.
The right to that can not be assumed on a boardroom whiteboard.
All that is good is being challenged by the poisons of evil.
Good and evil have all the same tools at their disposal.
Powerful tools never before seen since the current age of man on earth.
TOols with the ability for deception, the ability to destroy everything,
We must choose our tools wisely, We must use our tools carefully.
Least we are falsely depicted as evil, and and stall the tides of change.
We must be carefull in calling our shots, we do not need weapons of hate or death.
We only need to join hands together in unison, a voice of one.
Our hearts will guide our fellow man, Our minds will remember and teach our children
Our hearts and minds will take this battle to the front.
We must win this time, and hand back to mother earth, all that is good.
Mother earth is telling us, this is our last chance.
We can not afford to have a revolution with war. Choose wisely.
We must have this revolution, but, we must have this revolution in peace.

OT but, this is the discussion thread right?
This has been ongoing since the 2004 election.
I read about it, but, I didn’t know murder was involved.

    Here is a bombshell IMO…

Forget Anonymous: Evidence Suggests GOP Hacked, Stole 2004 Election

    http://www.benzinga.com/news/11/07/1789905/forget-anonymous-evidence-suggests-gop-hacked-stole-2004-election

    From the article:
Connell was outed as the one who stole the 2004 election by Spoonamore, who, despite being a conservative Republican himself, came forward to blow the whistle on the stolen election scandal. Connell gave a deposition on the matter, but stonewalled. After the deposition, and fearing perjury/obstruction charges for withholding information, Connell expressed an interest in testifying further as to the extent of the scandal.

“He made it known to the lawyers, he made it known to reporter Larisa Alexandrovna of Raw Story, that he wanted to talk. He was scared. He wanted to talk. And I say that he had pretty good reason to be scared,” said Mark Crispin Miller, who wrote a book on the scandal.

Connell was so scared for his security that he asked for protection from the attorney general, then Attorney General Michael Mukasey. Connell told close friends that he was expecting to get thrown under the bus by the Rove team, because Connell had evidence linking the GOP operative to the scandal and the stolen election, including knowledge of where Rove’s missing emails disappeared to.

Before he could testify, Connell died in a plane crash.

Republican IT Specialist Dies in Plane Crash

        http://www.democracynow.org/2008/12/22/republican_it_specialist_dies_in_plane

AMY GOODMAN: So, explain what this case is all about and exactly what Mike Connell has been doing over these last years. What does it mean to be Karl Rove’s IT guru?

MARK CRISPIN MILLER: Well, the lawyers in the case refer to him as a high-IQ Forrest Gump, by which they mean that he seems to have been present at the scene of every dubious election of the last eight years. We’re talking about Florida in 2000. We’re talking about Ohio in 2004. We’re talking about Alabama in 2002. He seems to have been involved in the theft of Don Siegelman’s re-election for governor. There’s some evidence that links him with the Saxby Chambliss-Max Cleland Senate race in Georgia in 2002. To be Karl Rove’s IT guru seems to have meant basically setting it up so that votes could be electronically shaved to the disadvantage of the Democrats and the advantage of Republicans.

        …..

AMY GOODMAN: So why did he fly in — why did he pilot his own plane when he was so afraid?

MARK CRISPIN MILLER: Well, that’s a good question. We can’t ask him, unfortunately. I mean, this is kind of a grisly thought, but, I mean, I think we should be asking where the body is? We’re told that a trooper on the scene immediately identified Connell. But then we read elsewhere that there was nothing left but debris and that the fireball was enormous. So maybe he wasn’t on the plane. I mean, who knows, when you’re dealing with people as deep as these?

But the point is — I can’t stress this strongly enough — we’re dealing not just with a shocking accident, if that’s what it was, and a convenient one. We’re dealing not even just with a particular lawsuit that, you know, really requires vigorous promotion. The important point here is that this is all about our elections. That’s what this is about. This is about democratic self-government.

The fact that Obama won so handily has caused a lot of us to sit back and relax. There’s been a lot of popping of champagne corks and people drawing the conclusion that the system must work, because our guy won. Well, this is not a sports event. This is self-government.

In fact, the evidence strongly suggests — and we haven’t had a chance to talk about this since Election Day — that Obama probably won by twice as many votes as we think. Probably a good seven million votes for Obama were undone through vote suppression and fraud, because the stuff was extensive and pervasive, in places where you wouldn’t expect it.

The Illinois Ballot Integrity Project was monitoring the vote in DuPage County, right next door to Obama’s, you know, backyard, Cook County. And two of them, in only two precincts on Election Day, saw with their own eyes 350 voters show up, only to be turned away, told, “You’re not registered,” people who were registered, who voted in the primary. All but one of these people was black. That’s in Illinois.

People at the Election Defense Alliance have discovered, from sifting through the numbers, an eleven-point red shift in New Hampshire. That means that there’s a discrepancy in Obama’s disfavor, primarily through use of the optical scan machines, an eleven-point discrepancy in the Republicans’ favor, OK?

You start to combine this with all the vote suppression, all the disenfranchisement, all the vote machine flipping that went on in this election, you realize, OK, Obama won, but millions of Americans, most of them African American and students, you know, were not able to participate in any civic sense, ironically, a lot of the same people, you know, who would have been disenfranchised and were disenfranchised before the civil rights movement. So the fact that a black president was elected, while cause for jubilation, see, ought not to take place at the expense of a whole lot of our fellow citizens who seem to have been disenfranchised on racial grounds. My point is very simply this: We’ve got to get past the victory of Obama and look seriously at what our election system is like, or else, I promise you, see, the setup that was put in place in this last election, in 2004 and in 2000, OK, will still be there in 2010, still be there in 2012. So we’ve got to take steps to do something about it now.

He was not the only one. There was a Senator (Federal investigators took over that scene immediately). There was the wife of someone who died on 911 (pilot error). All these were ruled “accidents”. Strange that so many accidents happen to people who can cause a lot of grief to the powers that be. Far, far too many others as well.

  • That fellow Rod Adams has been running his mouth lately, saying that Arnie was fired for having low sales figures

    http://atomicinsights.com/2011/06/arnie-gundersen-going-international.html#comment-8909

    So I sent him this:

Well, if Rod Adams does not think Arnie worthy enough to be a whistleblower, he might have to find another source, maybe Michio Kaku, Christopher Busby, or even Michael Friedlander:

    http://www.bloomberg.com/video/71458358/

For a medical description of effects on babies he might try a pediatrician who is knowledgeable on radiation effects, and has to treat the results of this fallout (genetic abnormalities, childhood leukemia, cancer):

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hb3p0qx09fA
    (talk given before Fukushima disaster)

You don’t have to be a whistleblower to accurately describe this disaster and its likely consequences. To start, leukemia and other diseases will be in the thousands, everyone knows that based on official and unofficial reports from Chernobyl (the un-official reports are always more believable – both the UN and the IAEA have agreed in writing to fib together). TEPCO, NRC, IAEA, U.N. and the EPA plus Health Canada, Environment Canada have become newsworthy due to obfuscation, false readings and over-mitigation of this disaster. This is why citizens have had to set up their own crowd-sourced monitoring systems (like Pachube).

Radiation readings in the rain for Canada are ABOVE the Chernobyl evacuation limit of 0.57 µSv/hr.

    Edmonton 1.14 µSv/hr
    Lloydminster 0.97 µSv/hr
    Red Deer 1.02 µSv/hr
    Lake Louise 1.43 µSv/hr
    Chilliwack 1.13 µSv/hr

Also, we have several simultaneous nuclear disasters, not just Fukushima:

    Chernobyl
    Fukushima
    Fort Calhoun
    Los Alamos
    and others…

75% of U.S. nuclear power plants are leaking tritium.

Los Alamos might be worse than all of them put together (800 waste dumping sites all around the plant, with plutonium and more). Remember, the current fear at Chernobyl is forest fires aerosolizing buried nuclear waste.

There is currently a news blackout on Fort Calhoun and Los Alamos, and rigid government control of readings and other information inside Japan. Noone can get close, and anyone who does gets arrested. (There was a citizen photographer arrested a few days ago at Fort Calhoun, but we have his pictures on YouTube).

We also have massive contamination of the ocean over and above its ability to self-repair. Fish in the Pacific NorthWest are likely inedible now, but the full effect will arrive in the next 1 to 2 years. (Iodine 131 was detected at 400% of safe levels by an SFU professor here in British Columbia back in April).

If it is not radioactive enough in the air and ocean, we have ingested radiation to look forward to which will bioaccumulate and biomagnify for the rest of our earthly lives (given the half life of hundreds of isotopes released – Cobalt-60, Strontium-89, Strontium-90, Plutonium, Uranium, Tellurium, Americium-244 and so on). And then, there is depleted uranium, which is not so depleted these days (they used pure and enriched uranium for weapons now).

Munitions that contain low-grade uranium 235 – insufficient to trigger nuclear explosion – are chemical-radiological weapons. They contain other toxic-radioactive elements and have indiscriminate effects. They are illegal by virtue of international conventions, laws and customs of war. When used in populated areas or in the presence of numerous troops (enemy or friendly), they become weapons of delayed but mass destruction (WMD). Fatal consequences of depleted uranium (DU) armour-piercing ammunition emerged in veterans and civilians after wars in the Persian Gulf and the Balkans. While the victims remain neglected, hundreds of tons of uranium from weapons developed in recent years against hard and buried targets have polluted Afghanistan. Up-coming war scenarios involve larger chemical-radiological contamination potential.

Much of the DU from the Iraq wars has blown all over Europe. This is not surprising. When I visisted France a few years ago, you could sometimes see a reddish dust on parked cars – that dust comes from Africa.

So, perhaps Arnie’s sales figures were not up to scratch. He has therefore, according to Rod Adams, committed a grave error in not selling adequate numbers of Weapons of Mass Destruction to our fellow humans.

Evidence to date indicates that this technology is too complex to control. Humans are smart. In fact, they’re too smart for their own good.

They have to stop being smart, and learn how to be wise.

  • Toxic chemicals freed in the Canadian Arctic: Study
    http://www.torontosun.com/2011/07/25/toxic-chemicals-freed-in-the-canadian-arctic-study

OTTAWA – Just weeks before Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s annual trip to the Arctic, researchers have released a study stating climate change in Canada’s North has unleashed toxic chemicals once frozen in the ice.

A team of scientists, including two Canadian researchers from Environment Canada, published the report Sunday in the scientific journal, Nature Climate Change.

The article says Arctic cooling could undermine global efforts to protect humans from chemicals known as persistent organic pollutants (POPs).

POPs, which are man-made substances emitted by industrial, agricultural and combustion activities, were banned under the Stockholm Convention.

The international environmental treaty was signed in 2001, took effect in 2004 and aimed to restrict the use of 12 POPs often used in insecticides and pesticides.

Scientists say the toxins made their way to the Arctic by air and ocean currents, and were trapped in Arctic ice, soil and the ocean. Researchers now claim as the ice is melting and temperatures are rising, chemicals are being freed.

Click here to find out more!

POPs have also reached the food chain in the North and accumulated in wildlife.

“A wide range of POPs have been remobilized to the Arctic atmosphere over the past two decades as a result of climate change,” the study states.

The new report, published by a team of four researchers including Environment Canada’s Jianmin Ma and Hayley Hung, examined the chemical concentration of DDT, HCH and cis-chlordane. Scientists observed analyzed data from between 1993 and 2009 from Norway and Canada.

The team says the rate of chemical remobilization will depend on how fast climate change affects the Arctic. However, POPs are of “real concern” to humans, researchers say, because they can cause serious illnesses and cancers.

Harper is set to visit the North in August to assert Canadian sovereignty, which he has done every summer since becoming prime minister.
