Porter Ranch Town Hall Meeting, Dec 28, 2015 (emphasis added):

  • Rex Paris, attorney (16:30) — “It’s the most massive gas blowout, gas well blowout, in a populated area in history. This has never happened before in a populated area. And so when they tell you that “It’s not damaging”, “It’s just temporary” — whatever nonsense they’re feeding you — understand, nobody knows. It’s never happened beforeThis can be deadly. Make sure you’re getting treated… Nobody knows what breathing this stuff constantly is doing to [the children]… The gas company says, “This is just the smell you’re reacting to, it’s just temporary, it’s not a problem, it’s not serious” — these people aren’t stupid. How could somebody possibly say that? We have children whose noses are bleeding every day, we have people who suffer from chronic headaches [and] are nauseous every single day. How does that not become a serious issue? Why are they saying something nobody here believes?… They’re trying to convince everybody that it’s all in our heads. It’s a trick.”
  • Mitchell Englander, Los Angeles City Councilman (45:30) — “I will tell you this goes well beyond Porter Ranch. We’ve had complaints from as far as Chatsworth, Northridge, and Granada Hills. Apparently this plume of toxic chemicals and whatever it might be doesn’t know zip codes. So it does keep moving into different locations and different places… This is the equivalent of the BP oil spill on land, in a populated community… We’ve declared a national disaster here.”
  • Dr. Richard Kang, pediatrician (52:45) — “Unfortunately the only real way to get away from the symptoms is, unfortunately, you have to relocate —  you have to get away from the environment.”
  • Dr. Brooks Michaels, physician (54:00) — “The defense is capitalizing on the comment that it’s all in your head. Let me clarify a little bit – it’s in your head, it’s in your ears, it’s in your nose, it’s in your throat, and it’s in your chest… We’re seeing asthma increases, we’re seeing people who are using inhalers more often, primarily a lot of respiratory problems… If you have a chance to leave, if you’re able to leave… if you have a chance to relocate, do it now. I’m telling you, it’s really critical. It’s what we don’t know, more than what we do know… A lot of information will be coming out soon about what the chemical carbons are that are so volatile… It’s unbelievable when you see the quantity that’s there that is coming out… What I see in the field is the effect of that. Primarily pulmonary, people will bleed from their nose. It’s not of course just a pediatric problem, it affects all of us.”
  • Dr. David Smith, veterinarian (57:00) — “I have seen dozens of cases of pets being ill or becoming ill and I do believe it’s related to the exposure to the gas… I’ve seen dogs, cats, birds, pocket pets… The primary symptoms I’ve seen are gastrointestinal vomiting primarily. One dog actually had a torsion — I think is related to it — where the stomach flips on itself, not a good thing. We’ve seen quite a few respiratory problems… the only good solution is treat symptoms and remove pets form the exposure as much as possible, especially the chronic exposure… There are not things you should be inhaling… We have seen dermatologic issues as well, some very unusual bacterial infections in dogs. Interestingly enough, one client had a dog with a very unusual bacterial infection on its face. And the client developed almost the exact same kind of symptoms very soon after that, actually 2 people in the house did… Their physician, thinks it’s related, and so I tend to think these correlations are real.”

CBS News, Jan 3, 2016: “I’ve been nauseous. I’ve felt lethargic,” said his mother Christine Soderlund. “My kids have had nosebleeds, they’ve had headaches… It’s surreal… We are a living science experiment I believe.”

Anyone obsessed with 'Climate Change' should get ready to change your shorts out.

Co2e for this event is at 3.3 years today. By estimates given, 6+ years if they get it corked by end of Feb. Does not include GHG other than CH4.

Do they stall the 'state of emergency' for $$$ reasons? Would the state just add another bumbling layer of money loss==taxpayer loss?

Maybe they stall for insurance purpose's, to simply 'lose enough' to gain enough payout to pay for the entire fiasco.

Maybe its a combo melt? Well done with plenty of sillysause.

Whatever, time to take off the tinhat and walk the dog, craptime.

Another theory is that the whales’ disappearance actually means their population has gotten larger and it is therefore taking the animals longer to compete for enough food to make the long journey to Hawaii.

    Gov. Brown's announcement is here:

I called Gov. Jerry Brown's office and asked if there will be financial assistance for medical treatment and relocation for those impacted.

    They didn't know.

I asked if any assistance is just for Porter Ranch, or if this is for the larger area, including Chatsworth, Northridge, etc.

    They didn't know.

The main focus is oversight, regulation, monitoring.

I asked about actual assistance to dig wells, find the problem, etc.

Doesn't seem to be what they're doing.

The Assembly Utilities and Commerce Committee will be holding a hearing….sometime this month. They didn't know when.

Called my local assemblyman, and asked when the hearing will be. Aide also said she didn't know, but that the Legislature just got back to work this week. I said that since this has been ongoing since October, the legislature was not out then.

I asked that the Health Committees also hold hearings, since the utilities committee will be dealing more with technical aspects, regulatory issues, etc. The Health committees would be dealing with actual health consequences from the emissions. From this article on the town hall meeting, I told her that there are probably plenty of doctors (and attorneys) willing to testify at a hearing in Sacramento. "I'll pass your suggestion along."

In case this hasn't been posted, here is the governor's office of emergency services link to the Aliso Canyon news.

Under "Public Health", the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has been very active, including asking for temporary relocation of residents and moving children to other schools. There isn't any record of a response from SoCalGas or from the state on that.

The "State Evaluation of Public Health Concerns" are typical dismissing, minimizing, and downplaying. Also, using the word "concerns" instead of "issues" also takes it out of a legal arena and into a psychological one. Contamination of air and health impacts are real issues, not concerns. "Concerns" also has no legal standing. Until government agencies and officials eliminate that word from their usage, they are not taking this or any other issues seriously.

Gov. Brown has tasked federal scientists to look over the situation. So, little serious evaluation or public information can be expected.

CH4 is a tetrahedral molecule, very stable, until it isn't.

When you understand organic chemistry, how bonds form within molecules, you begin to grasp the magnitude of adding organic resonating molecules into the ether, it all gets worse.

Men (and some women) have been releasing organic chemicals stored in the earth for 1,000s of years. It is only recently that we have been able to access fossil fuels on a meaningful scale.

Aliso Canyon = oil extracted, gas put back in, only now, too much is coming back out.

SRS plutonium shipment to New Mexico postponed

    July 25, 2012

The first transfer, which was to have occurred the week of June 25, is part of an effort to ship 5 kilograms of waste plutonium at a time to the Department of Energy’s Waste Isolation Pilot Plant near Carlsbad, where lower-level “transuranic” waste is buried a half-mile beneath the Chihuahuan Desert.

Unlike pure plutonium from “pits” once installed on nuclear warheads, the 4.3 metric tons of contaminated “nonpit” plutonium stored at SRS cannot be used in its mixed oxide plant, which is under construction and will blend surplus plutonium into commercial reactor fuel.

The disposal plan calls for packing the plutonium in a new inert material known as “stardust,” which is blended with the waste to render it unattractive to adversaries and make it easier and safer to transport.

The waste that was to leave South Carolina in June remains at SRS, but will likely be shipped sometime this year.

    The still are…

Department of Energy announces intentions for disposal of plutonium – Jan. 5, 2016

Plutonium at SRS could be disposed of at New Mexico site

The joint announcement with the National Nuclear Security Administration posted to the department’s Web site on Christmas Eve follows the Final Surplus Disposition Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement filed in April, which mulled over the options for the disposal of 14.4 tons of surplus plutonium “for which a disposition path is not assigned.”

The preferred alternative only details intentions to prepare 6.6 tons of the surplus plutonium for disposal at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant near Carlsbad, N.M., which is one of four options listed in the April document.

The notice made no mention of when the material would be transported should the two federal agencies decide to move it to New Mexico.

Israeli said the material isn’t connected to the 1,984 pounds of gap material plutonium from foreign countries set to arrive at SRS via Joint Base Charleston.

I was reading through Sempra’s 2015 10K and found some interesting information. SONGS is operated and owned by SoCalGas.

“Like other major industrial facilities, ours may be damaged by severe weather conditions, natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis and fires, catastrophic accidents, or acts of terrorism. Because we are in the business of using, storing, transporting and disposing of highly flammable and explosive materials, as well as radioactive materials, and operating highly energized equipment, the risks such incidents may pose to our facilities and infrastructure, as well as the risks to the surrounding communities are substantially greater than the risks such incidents may pose to a typical business.”

“Depending on the nature and location of the facilities and infrastructure affected, any such incident also could cause catastrophic fires, leaks, radioactive releases, explosions, spills or other significant damage to natural resources or property belonging to third parties, or cause personal injuries or fatalities.” So it appears Sempra has concluded that radioactive releases can cause injuries and fatalities.

“Fluctuations at SDG&E and Sempra Energy Consolidated from 2012 to 2013 were primarily due to mitigation activities on the Sunrise
Powerlink project, which was placed into service in June 2012. Fluctuations from 2013 to 2014 were primarily due to increased project activities
during 2014, including PSEP-related projects at both SDG&E and SoCalGas and the Aliso Canyon turbine replacement project at SoCalGas.”

The last sentence says SoCalGas has upgraded their Aliso Canyon compressor station. Referring to, SoCalGas has removed the gas turbine trains and upgraded to variable frequency motors that drive the compressors. Variable frequency means variable speed. I have not been able to find information concerning the pipeline into Aliso Canyon reservoir and the injection wells. The injection compressors run at very high pressures say 3000 psi to 4000 psi. This may be a case of new compressors over pressuring an old pipeline, flowlines and injection wells. I read somewhere the casing had blown. If it were an over pressure, the casing may have ruptured. No word as to testing existing equipment for utility.

Sempra or others may have bought natural gas on long contracts and since the price of gas gone to hell, Sempra may be relieved they can tap the insurance companies with the loss in natural gas prices. It may be hard for the next 10K to swallow the mark to market gas price.

    I’m just supposing.

Brown declares state of emergency at Porter Ranch amid massive gas leak

    January 7, 2016
Gov. Jerry Brown on Wednesday ordered new regulations, including stepped-up inspections and safety measures, for all natural gas storage facilities in California in response to the continuing leak that has displaced thousands of people in the Porter Ranch neighborhood of Los Angeles.

The emergency regulations would require Southern California Gas Co. and other operators of gas storage facilities to conduct daily inspections of wellheads using infrared leak-detection technology, verify the mechanical integrity of wells, measure gas flow and pressure and regularly test safety valves, among other steps.

Each facility would also have to draft a risk management plan that would examine …

dont get too happy…following Goddards 'science', one would conclude there is no danger from Fukushima

Linear thinking, linear logic, wrong logic

      • Code did you see my work on bioaccumulation?

I also think that could be non-linear

        • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

yes stock. Easy approximation to divide by 1000 to get Bq/kg etc. I have been meaning to follow up in two ways. Somewhere there is a mother trove of bioaccumulation data, a large paper. Secondly, there is a paper from Buesseler et al that shows bioaccumulation measurements for plankton. It appears much less than I expected. The problem is that even with the bioaccumulation, it isnt enough to account for the massive die off which is being seen. Weve discussed that the dead stuff falls to the bottom leaving an apparently cleaner water and less contaminated plankton that take their place. But the total path must be very complicated. I used the analogy that you cant shoot somebody and expect the damage to remain isolated to the bullet wound…even though the tissues far away would remain clinically free from damage. Bioaccumulation is one factor, but the form of the fallout is another. A large percent is in the form of alloyed nano particles, giving point source radiation and heavy metals in a form that can lodge deep in lung and body tissue. Im sure there are other factors never considered. Water has a way of forming information loaded super molecules surrounding everything. One cant isolate a biomolecule or any molecule from the water around it which is forming a kind of liquid crystal with changes in the hydrogen bond angle. Such a thing is theorized to underlie homeopathic remedies. Science is not smart enough to understand homeopathy but it works.

          • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

A study from some east European country where they do a lot of investigation into this kind of thing showed bio-information transfer on magnetic fields. Disease and or repair bio signals can be transferred from one organism to another via magnetic fields. One cant isolate, as is our propensity, one thing from another in the vast web of life on earths biosphere. Poison one part of the earth and the whole thing will be affected in ways known and not known. Its the unknown ways that egocentric man has a hard time accepting. Your way around it is epidemiology. But cause and effect is the difficulty there. If science cant see the connection, they will throw out cause and effect. Im afraid man is in over his head with global poisoning of our little planet. Hubris and greed and small mindedness is the wall which I think will obscure the truth well into the destruction of the ecosphere, perhaps sealing our fate. On the other hand, there is a tendency for anti nukers to throw up their hands and say everything is poisoned to the ELE degree. I believe that if nuclear was ended here and now, the biosphere could self remediate to some degree and life go on…albeit an earth permanently wounded

          • Actually, I start with 13 Bq/M3 and end up with 10.7 Bq/kG in porpoises.

So the rule of thumb is that it almost an equal quantity.

For plants, the conversion is "about half"

And Exactly….what if you shoot everyone in the ocean.

And of course, the Bq/kG is for the whole animal, where rads congregate in specific organs, etc. 10.7 in the whole animal could be 50 Bq/kG in the heart….a proven danger level.

      • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

        Goddard and others assume Fukushima fallout is "low level radiation" on the LNT model and assess the danger using the model. When linear thinking results in self delusion and incorrect conclusions…when low level is not low level;

The Fukushima nuclear accident released radioactive materials into the environment over the entire Northern Hemisphere in March 2011, and the Japanese government is spending large amounts of money to clean up the contaminated residential areas and agricultural fields. However, we still do not know the exact physical and chemical properties of the radioactive materials. This study directly observed spherical Cs-bearing particles emitted during a relatively early stage (March 14–15) of the accident. In contrast to the Cs-bearing radioactive materials that are currently assumed, these particles are larger, contain Fe, Zn, and Cs, and are water insoluble.

    • UpsideDown November 11, 2015 "Why There is No 'Safe' Level of Radiation from Fukushima"
"While a highly coordinated effort is underway by the nuclear industry, mainstream media, medical establishment and world governments to define, justify and reinforce a "safe level of radioactivity" pertaining to the air, the water, the food, and our bodies, the unspoken truth contained within the precautionary principle that there is no safe dose of radiation, nor a safe level of exposure to the 200+ radioisotopes released by the Fukushima reactor complex meltdown, is but an inaudible whisper in the cacophony of a world dominated by universal deception."

The article above explains why the LNT model is off by as much as 55,000 times. It also under predicts the negative health repercusions of low dose cumulative by as much as 60 times. There is no attention given to the reduced quality of life, or the cost of healthcare for those suffering from the negative impact of radioactive pollution coming from the nuclear industry.

  • For the worker who died at WIPP LAST week, they have NOT released the cause of death as of today……..This author has hypothesized that the massive snow storm shorted out the electrical substation, causing the fans and filters to stop working, resulting in a huge gamma radiation spike that WAS detected in Carlsbad.

Since Plutonium is 0% Gamma, and Americium is 10% gamma, the gamma spike is low by a factor of at least 20 compared to overall radiation.

Although this is still not "acute" enough radiation to kill someone outright, it could definitely exasperate an existing medical condition, along with the stress of knowing the power was off and radiation was coming out .

  • I postulate that 80% of the people here have no idea what the LNT theory says.

But in a painfree way, you can get past that hump of knowledge by watching this video.

    • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

Goddard sure is getting a lot of exposure. Its not helping the anti nuke cause. With his well done videos and seemingly good science, Goddard 'debunks' Caldicott and Busby and Mangano. The LNT model is not good, the science not inclusive. Its very convincing to look at charts like that. But for example, the bystander effect can kill 50 times as many cells as those which received an actual radiation track exposure. Its very complex. Busby reveals another effect, the 'Secondary Photoelectron Effect Theory'. There is genomic instability which is not seen in dose response graphs. Goddards well done videos show us what we are up against. Linear thinking, linear logic, wrong logic….

      • Well that particular video does not debunk anything except hormesis, so I like it as a tool, just like LNT as a tool.

I guess I haven't seen his other stuff you mention that debunks some heros of the revolution against death.

        • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

The ICRP LNT model leads to the conclusion that neither Chernobyl or Fukushima, or even an all out nuclear war will result in significant danger to human health, except for the ground zero explosive damage. Rather than a positive thing, the LNT dose model consistently leads to an underestimation of radiation damage. Linear logic, wrong logic. Why is it a good tool if it lets nuclear off the hook, which it does?

          Goddard debunks Busby

Some of Goddards nice videos here on his site

Who is Goddard? He is not a scientist or epidemiologist. Hes an artist and videographer. He merely packages what he thinks is correct and mainly its mainstream. This is common for linear logic thinkers. I bet Busby and Mangano could make mince meat out of Goddard, if they were to offer a rebuttal. Sure, Caldicott and everybody has made errors. ITs unfortunate. But their depth of knowledge is large compared to Goddard, who merely packages information that is outside his sphere of expertise.

The ICRP LNT model is defective from basic principles and source data. It does no favors to the anti nuke community. Its insidious. It should be considered the enemy of the anti nuke movement

        • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

          damn the LNT model

          DR. STERNGLASS
          the dose
response curve — in other words, the shape of the dose response
curve is not a straight line all the way down

And the nature of this curve is such that if you
decrease it by 10, the risk per millirad goes up tenfold. If you
go down another 10, the risk keeps going up, and therefore we
have a strange situation that the weaker the radiation intensity
is, the more deadly it is, and nobody anticipated this and
present radiation standards do not believe in this and have not
accepted this because it goes against the existing regulations,
which govern all uses of radiation everywhere, and nobody wants
to touch this, although the BEIR Committee of the National
Academy called attention to it years ago in the earlier report,
BEIR III, and, so, we now find that we have a situation where we
have far greater health effects than we ever thought.

Moreover, we can tie this directly to Strontium 90
specifically because here we have the relationship which shows
the link between low birth weight and Strontium 90, and this is
human data, not extrapolated from high doses. This was gathered
by the AEC during their early years, where they gathered
skeletons from all over the world that you publicized, and then
you see that the number of babies born under-weight in New York
State is perfectly correlated with an extremely incredibly high
correlation coefficient of .96, which is totally unbelievable.

  • Ladders kill more people every year than guns. When ladders are outlawed only outlaw solar guys will have ladders.

    • AirSepTech AirSepTech

You are on a slippery slope my friend, I will hold your ladder anytime. And your right to have one. 🙂

Covert killers I call them, injured/killed friends and I, x-mas lights conspirators, a very long list.

Don't feel the same threat from guns, they are honest and to the point.

Don't recall one buying itself, running a FBI check on no apparent owner, calling a cab, buying ammo and hiding itself loaded for my ultimate demise.

But by god, ladders do skeer me. Even with years of experience.

    • Link please?

According to the World Health Organization, the United States leads the world in ladder deaths. Each year, there are more than 164,000 emergency room-treated injuries and 300 deaths in the U.S. that are caused by falls from ladders.
Most ladder deaths are from falls of 10 feet or less.

      • Unintentional fall deaths

        Number of deaths: 30,208
        Deaths per 100,000 population: 9.6

Many families would not have a missing place setting at dinner.

•Drivers with a BAC of 0.08% or higher involved in fatal crashes were six times more likely to have a prior conviction for DWI

And I believe about 30% of child deaths come from parents, 2 out of 3 with prior DUI.

gun control is a fear driven, give your power up, failed, un-American mistake of the three pound monkey brain we are so proud of. 'im so incompetent, unkowledgable, inept and vulnerable and scared, I freely give up all my rights to self determination, monetarily and physically'. Only others have the ability to figure out whats best for me and only they can keep me safe…. PFFFT! I spit on that mentality

          • Gun ownership is fear driven.

Why not allow complete freedom and sell tanks, mini suitcase nuclear weapons and bazookas, if everyone should be entitled to be militia?

            • obewanspeaks obewanspeaks

Guns don't kill people..people kill people..along with lots of other approved corporate stuff behind the scenes.. that none of us can control by law.

I'd rather protect myself and my family at the local level..thank you very much. 🙂

            • DUDe DUD

I usually stay out of the gun debacle..too complex..too many variables in America..
Here in Belgium , i only know of one person with a permit and a handgun..a dancing owner.. and i never hold or saw a gun in real myself..correction once in France someone pointed it at me because he tought i was damaging his property..
Also i never knew or heard of someone wounded or killed by one..
It is a good thing that statistically the worst you can encounter here is brute physical force or a knife or something.. unless you really go out looking to be in bad neighborhoods..

If someone in politics would try to bring guns back i would resist.. BUT..if for some reason i was forced by life to live in America..with its extreme inequallity and therefore crime..and many guns around..i would probably check if i need a gun myself or not, depending where i would live offcourse..
And on top of that , i can imaging it being fun to practice..that i would ofcourse not put like that in arguments once i'm hooked lolol..

what you dont take into account is that man can respond with a certain responsibility, if saddled with it. Make man a helpless irresponsible fat idiot, and his actions will follow. The 'disease' of terrorism and gun shootings is not isolated from civilizations structure. The U.S. has created its own criminals, and world wide terrorism, to a large degree. We have 5% of the world population with the largest prison population.

Take back your power, dont give it away. External authority has proven itself through history to be corrupted intrinsically by mans three pound monkey brain. The serfs and farmers were never and will never be safer by giving up their means to self defense. I know, they are hopelessly outgunned now by the governments they willingly gave up their power to, and to whos tune they all dance. Its a shame

  • 100 Years Ago This is Reality, Are We Better Off Now?

OK stock here, looking for some group comments here. I postulate that overall, we are not better off than 100 years ago (although I am glad women wash their hair more than once per month, now)

But chime in with some commentary on specific items, or just your prediction for what it will be like 100 years from now…..OK same problem here, I have an impossible time picturing 100 years from now, I don't think humanoids will be part of that future….so try 40 years from now, enough time for me to get off this planet in all likelihood.
I will add comments or rebuttals in red to the text below, the original text shall remain black.

well Stock, Mad Max will be the Prez of whatever is left, which won't be much, those that are alive will be either very sick or very deformed, food will be like it was before, whatever you can find to eat that won't eat you…in 40 years we will have devolved by 500 to 1000 years, the up side will be most bullets will have been fired but clubs will be back in fashion.

      • AirSepTech AirSepTech

🙂 Finding someone, much less something to club, will yield an ultimate non-violent world.

Man, naked and afraid, probably where he should have stayed.

Statistically, I have maybe 30 years remaining.

At the end of the day, it is about survival, nature provides that reality in a very clear concept.

Fear? not really, but it may be a very close call.

Money and the folly that follows it will provide the end game.

  • They will show up… All of the taxis are full taking the whales over to view the N. Korea nuke test.

When they get done with that, they will transport the whales down to Hawaii.

Seriously, keep on eye on this and report on it… hopefully they are just LATE, not missing completely, and possibly all dead.

I may get flak for this post….but we are creatures of this earth. If we have caused harm to our world….it is technically "natural."

This is why I am the sot that I am.

man is a wretched blip, a momentary catastrophe of nature. Nature is full of catastrophe. Man has a false belief in anthropocentric divine justice. Three pound brain ape called man is a product of nature, that doesnt mean its a good animal for the rest of the planet

  • obewanspeaks obewanspeaks

I guess if we had other animals on this planet playing God..then yes.. our behavior would be natural.

    It's not!

    Obviously! 🙁
