Right now, crews are drilling dirt out of the casing to prepare for drilling into the cap rock.
The caprock sits on top of the salt dome.

Clean up efforts near the sinkhole are still suspended after two workers had to be rescued from it last week.
Title: Drilling begins in Bayou Corne

Today engineers started drilling to get to the 300 foot thick caprock that sits on top of a salt dome near the well. Once inside the salt dome, workers will drill into an abandoned brine cavern so they can explore what’s going on inside.
John Boudreaux, the emergency preparedness manager for Assumption Parish, said a mandatory evacuation for residents living in the Bayou Corne community could be in place for at least 2 months while the drilling takes place.
“Still a lot of unknowns, it’s going to take some time for them to get in and see if this cavern is the cause of what has happened, and if it will progress any further,” Boudreaux said.

Yoichi Shimatsu connects some interesting dots related to the source of radiation in the sink hole in Louisiana. It has been reported that the radiation is some type of "Naturally occuring" byproduct of industry but Shimatsu claims it is related to an accident that happened at the Waterford Nuclear Power Plant in Louisiana which he says was damaged and had a level 4 incident during Hurricane Katrina.
Shimatsu says Texas Brine was involved in cleaning up the “dirty” [radioactive] water there.
Furthermore he says that the Governor of Louisiana has given Texas Brine 40 days to come up with a cover story. They don’t dare say they barged in all the waste water from Waterford Nuclear and pumped it into a salt dome to store it. You know the American Nuclear reactors cannot stand up to Hurricanes.
He says this about 2/3 of the way into the phone interview http://rense.gsradio.net:8080/rense/special/rense_Shimatsu_081312.mp3
If what he says is true what a scandal it would be. Who operates and owns Waterford Nuclear? Why none other than what I see as the slum lord of the nuclear industry…Entergy.

I don't know bout this myself, but I would have to see some evidence that shows something different than the "official reports" at that time…
Not that I believe anything FEMA or Entergy says…

Hi Jebus,
Yes I too would like to see some more evidence to back up his claims. I hope he eventually provides some information about it on his site. Thanks for the link I didn't know about his site.

Ya, and I don't dislike Rense, but he does whip it up sometimes…

Yes Rense does have a tendency to stretch the fine lines of truth perhaps he should run for office ;>)

actually moonshellblue, Rense is one of the few honest ones. He's hated by the right ones and that earns him a big star in my book…

I came across this elsewhere,
but it certainly bears re-posting-

I have said since this disaster started to do sonar x rays radiation checks. I would check the nuclear plant underground and see if there is water seeping into the grounds and down stream.I would do checks underground see where radiation is coming from it is not all natural unless SOMEONE BURIED IT IN THE SALT DOME AND no one is talking.

The radiation being monitored is a byproduct of fracking, not that found in a nuclear plant. Personally, I would rather see the leak of a nuclear plant placed in a salt cavern than the byproducts of fracking. The fracking byproducts are far more destructive to a salt formation and more toxic.

"Another bubble site was discovered yesterday between sites #3 and #4 in Grand Bayou. The bubbling is small and will be monitored daily as the others. The sinkhole site is still prohibited; therefore, cleanup in the site is still halted and no recent depth measurements have been taken. The parish has requested Texas Brine to provide a plan for a continuation of the cleanup."
Activity continues at the rig site. For updates from Texas Brine, visit: http://www.texasbrine.com/response/
