Title: Pluto’s Fire – Global Nuclear Contamination and Japan’s Nuke Policy
Uploaded by: mahchin
Date Published: Apr 24, 2012

The World Uranium Hearing was held in Salzburg, Austria in 1992. Tthe people from all over the world who suffered by mining and processing uranium gathered and gave the testimonies. At the same time, Japan was shipping plutonium from France. Directed by Kiyoshi Miyata in 1993.

Epidemiology scientist Alice Stewart* at ~37:00 in

It was once thought that provided the radiation was delivered slowly enough to everybody there would then be no effect at all. What was dangerous was the sudden explosion.

My work suggests the opposite. The slower you spread the dose, the more effective every bit of radiation is going to be for producing cancer or inherited defects. In my opinion, Japan is going the very best way in the world for destroying the human race.

* The department of social and preventive medicine at Oxford was created in 1942, with Stewart as assistant head. In 1950 she succeeded as head of the unit [...] in 1953 the Medical Research Council allocated funds to her pioneering study of x-rays as a cause of childhood cancer, which she worked on from 1953 until 1956. Her results were initially regarded as unsound, but her findings on fetal damage caused by x-rays of pregnant women were eventually accepted worldwide and the use of medical x-rays during pregnancy and early childhood was curtailed as a result. -Wikipedia

Title: Obituary: Alice Stewart
Source: The Guardian
Author: Anthony Tucker
Date: Friday 28 June 2002 09.17 EDT

Alice Stewart, who has died aged 95, achieved worldwide fame, and changed medical practice, through her tenacious investigations and demonstration of the connection between foetal x-rays and child cancers. She went on to attract the enmity of the nuclear and health physics establishments – and the hostility of the British and American governments – by insisting that her studies showed that the adverse effects of exposure to low-level radiation were far more serious than had been officially accepted.

She was also the first woman member of the Association of Physicians, and only the ninth (and youngest) to become a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians.[...]

Radiation = death. Therefore, end all nuclear power. I guess that's too difficult for the sociopaths in charge to comprehend…

A few annoyances to get off my chest:

A Green Road. I appreciate your POV re:nuclear, however it's not really appropriate to use every thread to advertise your website and it's piles of articles. It's disrespectful to the topic at hand for one thing. Others here I've noticed do that too. It's as if the the subject of the thread didn't exist for them. They seem to be there to draw attention away from the topic. Most blogs have a way to put a link to your site in your handle. Maybe that would work.

While I'm on the subject, another thing if I can. Of course this subject is very important and alarming however some posters continual melodramatic histrionics really wears thin. Shouting in all caps. the shrill whining, they seem to be trying to get everyone to pay attention to them.

Just my 2c worth. Carry on.

And knowing what they've know – for decades – hasn't put one iota of caution to their work.

Those who participate and/or support nuclear power should be classified as criminals and deviants; no better than back-ally murderers and child molesters. Humanity has tolerated these criminals for-far too long.

They have declared war on all life and environment. They were given a chance and generous forewarning to get their house in order. They have ignored, denigrated and even murdered anyone who stood in their way. They have impeded the development of environmentally benign energy technologies. They have burdened countless future generations with the cleaning-up the toxic after-birth of nuclear power technology.

It is time that the citizenry of the world draw-up an indictment of mass-genocide against those who support the use of nuclear power technology within the earth's biosphere…

Thank Goodness for fearless stewards of humanity and integrity like the amazing Alice Stewart. Where are the rest of these people? Cowards, hiding behind the security of their paychecks, no doubt.

Aftershock, I can't agree with you more! (Or in other words, I agree with you wholeheartedly!) Those who commit such atrocious acts, fully knowing the horrendous consequences of such acts upon all lifeforms on our precious Earth, are truly psychopathic criminals without a conscience and as such are dangerous and should be locked up.

How can anyone sit in a committee and agree to "permissible levels" of serious illnesses and death, especially in children living near nuclear power plants??? Who in God's name gives them the RIGHT to make such decisions that will knowingly kill children and adults???

I would call it instead what it really is: "permissible levels of insanity" and throw them all in jail.

The other article posted here today about the citizens in Irvine turning out for the city council meeting, and parents speaking about brain cancers in their neighborhoods near San Onofre should send shivers up everyone's spines. Their testimony speaks volumes. This information needs to be spread far and wide, to help build the growing consensus that nuclear power plants need to be shut down. If people knew the truth, the majority would oppose nuclear power. Keep spreading the truth!

@What-About-The-Kids: thanks for the kind words.

As you're doubtless aware, much of the nuclear power agenda was established under the aegis of the DOD a half-century ago. I can understand the mindset of that time and how it influenced so-much of the national security policy. (Any one of us may or may not agree with the historic causalities behind the Cold War and what led-up to it.) What I cannot accept is the use of national security objectives to do whatever is in the interest of a few. Such policy runs counter to the espoused purpose of national security. Anything-other than serving to protect is simply a betrayal. I shall repeat "Anything-other than serving to protect is simply a betrayal."

Any pragmatist understands and accepts that hard decisions must be made towards the lofty goal of protecting the people. Achieving the greater good more-often-than-not results in the destruction of innocents. However, that harsh reality must never be accepted as grounds for the wholesale destruction of humanity or our environment. When coupled with nuclear technologies, the wholesale application of Von Clausewitz stratagems is nothing-less than irrational.

It is long overdue that true warriors of the people, stand-forth to defend the lives, health and the habitat of the people! Anything less is a total abrogation of any-and-every nation's national security agenda…

You are most welcome, Aftershock! :-)

I am aware of the history of the Cold War and the birth of the Atomic Age and the prevailing paranoia that led to the nuclear proliferation and resulting mess we are faced with today.

Yes, there are "pragmatists" and those who believe they are the sane, rational ones making good, sound but difficult decisions in the name of "National Security" or the security of our economic system and thus our society as a whole.

But truly, who is to say they are indeed the "sane, rational ones?" As they say, "what is one man's meat is another man's poison." So who is to judge exactly which acts may be deemed as "serving to protect," or is indeed for "the Greater Good?"

Therein lies the rub. How do we know their decisions will be sound ones? At the very least, those who have been either voted into power or appointed to positions of power must not forget their common humanity shared by ALL human beings. And they are, after all, only human, subject to man (and woman's) human failings, weaknesses and misjudgments.

I submit to you that deciding it was ok to subject a certain percentage of children to cancers and leukemia who live within the reach of the ongoing releases of radiation from our 104 nuclear power plants certainly was one example of the FAILINGS of the decision-making abilities of man.

I propose that for any and all of our leaders' decisions which we know could have such life-threatening consequences, there be a citizen's oversight committee formed, with non-biased people who have applicable expertise, as well as citizens who are trained in ethics and morality, who will insure these bigger questions are asked FIRST.

I would start by cleaning house at the NRC, a nuclear-industry beholden group which has lost all credibility in the eyes of the American public based on a history of turning a blind eye to the criminal lies and cover ups of shoddy reactor designs and a lackadaisical, and inherently dangerous "safety" culture at NPPs.

Let's REMOVE the mandate of the current NRC and replace them with commissioners who are not captured by the nuclear industry. Only by appointing truly honest and unbiased commissioners will the public be able to trust the NRC to do their job and insure public safety.

@What-About-The-Kids: our current system of representative government is structured to fulfill your proposal. Problem is-in the lack of follow-through on the part of the electorate. We don't/can't bother to hold anyone to account. Again, we don't/can't bother to hold our law enforcement to account, either. The fault is with the public in general. We can claim we're fighting an uphill battle against MSM, political/technical/economic/educational corruption but it was always about our personal commitment to each-other and our nation. We inherited a representative democracy that's been traded-away for football games, porno and Ipods. We freely choose the path of least resistance and found ourselves in dire straights. We excoriate the so-called 'power-elite', all-the-while denying our virtual complicity in their works. We grasp at the very fulfillment that we've inadvertently denied others. Until we become fearless and truly compassionate for all others, we will simply continue repeating this nightmare. We need to let go of the rage against those we differ with and accept that we're all struggling for sound footing in this world. Evolution applies to the spirit, as well as the body…

              BTW. Your writing's awesome…

Hard to say what caused it, San Onofre or the hundreds (thousands?) of above-ground nuclear tests throughout the 50's and early 60's?

Why then, is it important to concern ourselves with this ongoing crisis? It is to acclimatise the public to the realities that they will have to eventually endure. We are now the ancient scribes of this age, who've been tasked with pushing this event into the future. We must push this into the ether to make it impossible for 'others' to suppress and erase.

Dr. Fox and Aftershock and all: I highly recommend you download the American Lung Association's just-released: " State of the Air 2012" report, downloadable from a link at the very top right of their homepage at: http://www.stateoftheair.org/

While I read NOTHING (surprise, surprise) about the harmful affects of breathing radioactive gases like Xenon and Krypton or Tritiated steam which all our nuclear power plants release on an ongoing basis, their updated recent discoveries about the seriousness and potentially deadly affects of breathing high levels of "particulates" and ozone in the air are frightening to discover.

They state that they now know that breathing such particulates can lead to strokes and heart attacks, and even just a relatively brief, one-time exposure to high enough harmful levels can lead to immediate death by heart attack or stroke!

So, extrapolating from this, exposure to other types of "particulates" (like the deadly radioactive heavy metals and isotopes which a nuclear power plant explosion…or two or three…like Fukushima unleashes into our atmosphere and troposphere, could indeed have immediate and harmful health consequences, as well as harmful health affects which take more time to manifest themselves. Indeed, this is something we here at enenews have known instinctively, all along.

              Continued from my above post:

Anyone wish to take a guess as to why the American Lung Association fails to mention in their report any harmful affects to our lungs from breathing in radioactive gases and particles, as we indeed have all been subjected to after 3/11???

Again, just like the WHO, these leading health organizations chose to simply turn a blind eye to the deadly health affects of nuclear radiation exposure and pretend Fukushima never happened. Amazing, considering that even Pacific Northwest Labs and the NGS admitted to findings that Washington state residents were breathing 40,000 times "background" of radioactive xenon gas when the Fuku plumes reached our state.

At the very least, the ALA could have stepped up to the plate by adding a section on the "State of Our Air In Communities Near Nuclear Power Plants or Uranium Mines", don't you think?

Someone at the ALA sincerely needs a WAKE-UP call. Anyone care to join me in helping to wake them up? I'm sure they would welcome feedback on their new report…

Think of the BILLIONS upon BILLIONS spent on the Nuclear Death Machines and then think if that had been applied to other technologies. The TRUTH, it's so simple. It's beyond reprehensible and it's more than regrettable that we have arrived at this time in history.

    I've posted these quotes before:

"No degree of prosperity could justify the accumulation of large amounts of highly toxic substances which nobody knows how to make 'safe' and which remain an INCALCULABLE danger to the whole of creation for historical or even GEOLOGICAL AGES."

"To do such a thing is a transgression against life itself, a transgression infinitely more serious than any crime ever perpetrated by man."

"The idea that a civilization could sustain itself on the basis of such a transgression is an ethical, spiritual, and metaphysical monstrosity. It means conducting the economic affairs of man as if people (* or all life forms) really did not matter at all."

    — E.F. Schumacher 1973 Small Is Beautiful: Economics As If People Mattered, (Chp. 4, Nuclear Energy–Salvation or Damnation? )

    * I added the ALL LIFE FORMS part.
It IS a Monstrosity beyond imagination and 'they' really don't want YOU to think about it. But you should, we ALL should!!!
