Title: US nuclear industry on the brink of collapse – expert
Source: Voice of Russia
Date:Feb 8, 2012 17:11

Gennady Yevstafyev, retired Lieutenant-General of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence: [...]

Many things are explained very simply – American nuclear industry is on the brink of collapse. Inside America there is no construction of nuclear facilities, nuclear reactors and so on for a number of years and Americans see that they are quickly losing their positions in the world in competition with other countries. That’s why they are trying to arrange the huge market for their own industries. [...]

  • I hope this person is correct. A headline suggests maybe not.

today in the WSJ print edition “Southern Nears Reactor Approvals” p. B3

“Federal regulators are expected to give Southern Co the green light on Thursday to build two nuclear reactors in Georgia, the first approval of a new US nuclear project in more than three decades”

“…The federal government is providing the project $8.3 billion in loan guarantees and other subsidies under a program that was begun in 2005 to jump-start new reactor construction”

    • Them hundreds of ton’s of corium’s will be belching nuke puke for the next millennium and some, we all that will be here in the future may be seeing the critical in the reactor and on cam lenses right in front of us with breeze’s in the future carried by the Fire Dragons across the waves, it will become that thick in the air so it will become visible ! There is nowhere to hide !

      Report Comment

      • Not so sure radiation will become thick… How is that going to happen? Any historical accounts that we can point to for visible radiation?

Maybe a nuke bomb is ‘thick’ and visible, but the stuff that gets us droppin like flies is the invisible stuff that we cannot see.

That is why toxic low level radiation comes directly out of Pandora’s Box..it consists of invisible horrors that visit death, disease, and anti- genetic stability to everything it touches.

What if we had an energy source that could and would at some point result in a whole continent becoming uninhabitable, result in the bankrupting of a whole nation, and YOU were forced to MOVE away from your work, YOUR birth place, YOUR home, with NO COMPENSATION as a direct result of such an accident, and 100 future generations of your kids could look forward to an early death, ill health and cancer?

Now, what if there were other energy sources available without such dangers, what would you choose for YOUR kids and YOUR family, even if the cost were a little higher short term?

Seems like a no brainer to me…

Not quite so fast to think the industry doesn’t have friends in high places…you lucky folks in Georgia just hours ago got a Frankenstein boondoggle courtesy of the Obama administration:

So are the people in Georgia just allow this to happen, weeping on the couch? Or are there people getting their asses in gear to STOP THIS BEAST FROM BEING BUILT?

If this first new project goes through, the next ones will pop up year after year.

:-( So they better don’t complain later. I’m so absolutely fed up with this apathy.

*sorry for being so negative. But…you know.

I hear ya, I am too. There’s nothing positive about it. They piss me off just as much as tepco I’m starting to hate them, forget empathy – the last shred dwindled away a few weeks ago. But yep, many know as I’ve forwarded most everything here (silence), post my own radioactive snow readings (silence), posted pics of my burnt face from November (silence), posted Arnie’s assessment of the AP1000 (silence) etc. I’m done posting to them on 3/11 as out of 80+ people only 4 care and should already know how to look stuff up themselves. Everyone else can kiss my ass. but ..you know;)

          • Hey Fu, stay positive.. We need to hang together. There are a lot of people who appreciate everything you do, including myself.

What silence? I hear people responding to you, and your posts will live forever, viewed by the multitudes who come here to WATCH, READ and LEARN. Most of the people coming here never post.. They are AFRAID to.

Thanks for being brave enough to post and for posting even after it seems like no one is interested. Ignore the appearance of non interest.

As the Dalai Lama said; Never give up, NEVER.. even if what you does not make any difference. I would add; stay positive and find the humor in the situation, if you can.. Keep it light, even if it is the end of the world. After all, we still have a few moments or maybe days to ENJOY the life we do have…

And who knows… we may even get a miracle or two, and end up finding solutions for all of the current FUBAR’s

Hi Agreenroad:) I should have clarified. I was speaking of the 80+ people of relatives and “friends” (including some from Georgia) on facebook, not reactions from people here on enenews. I’ve been posting there too, forwarding links etc this entire time like I mentioned above and only 4 responses have been positive. Those 4 were worth it definitely but they can now look stuff up themselves so “i give up” on the rest – it’s those who piss me off – who know and don’t have the fortitude to take responsibility let alone ignore or attack me for doing it. I agree with you in never giving up, keeping good humor, attitude etc. but I also know when I’m wasting my time and needlessly giving myself stress so that’s why my cutoff date for fb is 3/11. I’ll still post here of course and still let people I run across know. Thank you for your kind words too, I too appreciate yours and most everyone else’s. and yes! a miracle or three couldn’t be more timely! :)

“Do it to Julia” syndrome.. The nuclear cabal brooks little dissent. If a decision is made it is made by the cabal, not by the the peasants. It is what it is. Publicity must be overwhelming to support a change. Hasn’t happened yet.

      • It usually takes a crisis..

At TMI, there were just a couple of people protesting the plant, BEFORE the accident..

Days after TMI blew a gasket and some other things, THOUSANDS joined the group that was already there and a bunch of spin off groups formed…

It can happen at any instant.. Just keep the candle burning.

A light in a dark cave, still offers light, even if there is only one, and millions of dark corners.

My guess is most folks in Georgia are more concerned with stopping abortion, keeping gays from marrying each other and teaching that evolution is bogus!
Besides, new nuke plants create more jobs.
    Consumer Economy is God!!!!!
