Maggie Gundersen, founder of Fairewinds Energy Education: We’re also working with different medical professionals who are talking about how many thyroid cancers have started showing up.

After an accident of the magnitude of Fukushima Daiichi, the thyroid readings that they’re getting now at two years should have been something around 5 years.

So that must mean that much more radiation came out than anyone suspected […] or at least reported.

Increasing thyroid cancers, thanks to nuclear.

'Increasing tyroid cancers, thanks to nuclear' , @TheBigPicture , once that's established , let's take it a step higher matter of fact as high as it can get , and remember the Root of all evil , the real cause of our problems at its foundation ( pass it along ) :

… even the birds make sure the nest is safe BEFORE laying the eggs , and that with an IQ of a door-knob compared to us !!

    • So much money in the Big C these days, and much more coming..

      Can you see the drool?

No financial reasons to slow it down or stop it….

BILLIONS $$$ of reasons to keep it going and/or speed up more people getting it.

Tons of reasons to not find an answer too… stimulates all kinds of 'donations' to research that never seems to find an answer.

Odd, how they do not look in the direction of radiation as a cause, especially LOW DOSE INTERNAL radiation.

  • So sad all this info that we all suspected anyways comes out way after the fact and not on mainstream media.

  • weeman

They can only suppress the data for so long before it becomes evident to the population and then you will see the firing squads and finger pointing.

  • Sickputer

The Japanese authorities lied about the amount of radiation, lied about the direction the toxic waves traveled, and they continue to lie to this day about the health hazards.

Anyone who looks to the Japanese authorities for guidance is like asking a dope addict to safeguard your pain medication.

They are typical big country Big Brother scoundrels like most of us have come to experience in the past 50 years. Manipulators of public information, virtually impossible to admit wrongdoing, and deadly when their livelihoods are threatened by their mistakes.

1.19 million becquerels/kg of radioactive iodine detected on leafy vegetables near Fukushima Medical University in March 2011. Being aware of this high radioactive iodine detection, Fukushima Medical University distributed potassium iodide pills to the doctors and nurses. The report points out that potassium iodine pills were not distributed to local men, women, and children. This university is located just south of Fukushima City.

Get the message out there on how serious the Fukushima nuclear disaster is
quickly, and efficiently. You don’t need to explain anything just distribute the lifesaver.pdf or create your own, hand it out, mailbox it,or email it.

Buy "thyroid replacement" medication stocks..they are the ONLY ones getting benefits from this disaster. Those poor people, again and again..I know, as my family is very experienced with young people with thyroid cancer. Several cases, including my daughter have serious problems; medical doctors IGNORED symptoms because its was too RARE. Now we all are fighting for these victims who face an uphill battle against cancer which is spreading. Sounds just like the doctors in Japan. "IGNORE, its not possible, the STATISTICS don't lie, so the patient must be wrong and not sick….." How do they sleep at night?

  • "So that must mean that much more radiation came out than anyone suspected […] or at least reported." – M. Gundersen

TEPCO and our governments, controlled by the Nuclear Industry, have admittedly lied or they have delayed reporting of almost every critical event. This is a well documented fact.

IMO – Even if other meltdowns occur or a Spent Fuel Pool fails the song and dance will remain the same. No matter what!

I think the NSA's data mining between the NRC, EPA and 'others' regarding Fukushima should be made public. Wouldn't that be interesting. We know they've got it. I am pretty sure it would prove that the Nuclear Industry, including it's supporters, is the most psychotic terrorist group of all time.

Thyroid cancer is the first one to show up in these Nuclear Disaster situations.

Soon to be followed by hundreds of other cancers, aliments and diseases as the jet stream fallout settles to the ground and/or also in this particular case the ocean currents will negatively affect all the world's aquatic life and coast lines, soon creating skin cancers in volume as these still hot radioactive isotopes land on human skin surfaces. Here you thought it was tanning beds? Not hardly..

The radioactive isotopes will track to different parts of the body until an over limit has been reached and then they will affect other organs as they spill over into other areas of the body creating ongoing disease. Immune systems will collapse.

Most women will soon have to have their breasts cut off to prevent death from this radiation contamination onslaught. It soon will make no difference the type of genes any of these women have. Most men will have prostate cancer which has nothing to do with age and has everything to do with the radioactive contamination received via the endocrine system.

The world is in trouble and our brightest know it is in trouble and they see it for what it is and its going to get much worse because of the lack of wisdom of our current human species controllers.

We are all being controlled…period. Nothing we are experiencing has happened by chance and/or luck!

Money can not save this world.. only wisdom can save this world from these ongoing problems.

Thyroid gland cancers are not the first ones to appear. Though they show up strongly. Blood cancer (leukemia -lymphome) hit faster but is much more sensitive to the volume of radionuclide ingestion, so only the very highly contaminated ones will be very sick very early (within one year). While thyroid cancer can be directly associated to radiation contamination, in Japan, in the case of Fukushima, people tend to not associate leukemia with radiation ingestion and this is why (as well as very good gouvernment propaganda and ignorance) people forget that Fukushima caused leukemia has been killing already many people. I can give as an example the case of a young hunting and fishing news reporter who was living in a contaminated area. He was into outdoor activities and often eating fish from freshly contaminated rivers. Strontium, plutonium, and other radioncludes obliged, he had no chance and the leukemia was devastating, and it was over within 1 year after the explosion. There are many other examples of people who have been eating a lot of products from Fukushima or have been rescuers just after the explosions.

thank you dka for this insight … I suspected as much … also many unexplained heart attacks are probably attributable to the radiocesuim releases … but that can be covered up … heck you can get a heart attack from sheer fright or good sex … but, well, 'nuff said …

Don't forget radiation caused diabetes, heart disease and stoke, all parts of radiation poisoning. No government wants to admit to those diseases, they blame mental state, fast food, and not keeping a pure mind..yada yada yada. It's not in any EPA warning of radiation sickness either.

Note the number of young people dying suddenly in sleep, or at sports due to heart attacks or vascular problems. Anyone have those figures?

      • Sickputer

The news about sportswriter and fisherman Abe Hirota who died from leukemia was covered extensively on Enenews in 2011. You rock Enenews!

SP: Freshwater fish develop much higher levels of radiation due to the size of their radiation-contaminated environment versus the larger water volume of the ocean. But eventually even the ocean will be a Dead Zone. Everywhere.

I located an Abstract on the effects of radiation, which I use to compare to the EPA’s new Protective Action Guidelines (PAGs), which appears to show the EPA is knowingly and willingly allowing Cancers:

[1] At 40 to 70 mSv, a statistically significant increase in thyroid cancer risk was found.

NOTE: The EPA’s new PAGs don’t administer PotassiumIodide to children until they get 50 mSv to their thyroid glands.

NOTE: The new PAG's allow 50 mSv to any organ.

[2] At 10 to 50 mSv, there’s an increased risk of cancers.

NOTE: The new EPA's PAG’s take effect at the same amount where there’s a known increased risk of cancers, 10 to 50 mSv.

[3] Studies show increases in leukemia in children under 5 years of age who got 1.5 mSv to bone marrow.

NOTE: The new (PAGs) are allowing FIFTY mSv to an organ, and yet leukemia can occur at 1.5 mSv.

[4] A dose of 10 mSv to the embryo and fetus causes "a significant and quantifiable increase in the risk of childhood cancer."

[5] An average dose of 34 mSv shows a significant "increase in solid-cancer-related mortality."

NOTE: Again, the PAG’s allow 50 mSv.

[6] Cancer risks are seen in as little as above 5 mSv.

    • Mack Mack

      And finally:

[8] A Canadian study found a "statistically significant excess cancer incidence and mortality risks for solid cancers” at an average dose of 6.5 mSv.

NOTE: The "normal" U.S. background radiation is already high at 6.2 mSv.

That's very close to the 6.5 mSv which is known to be a cancer risk.

      • Mack Mack

        Ah, for an edit button…

        [8] should be [7]

And this: I located an Abstract on the effects of radiation, which I use to compare to the EPA’s new Protective Action Guidelines (PAGs), which appears to show the EPA is knowingly and willingly allowing Cancers

        should be:

I located an Abstract on the effects of radiation, which I use to compare to the EPA’s new Protective Action Guidelines (PAGs), which I conclude, imho, shows the EPA is knowingly and willingly allowing Cancers

          • Mack Mack

            Thanks, ChasAha!

            • Mack Mack

              thank you kindly!

              • Mack Mack

                To add to this:

In the WHO's report on Fukushima, it says

"In the most affected areas of Fukushima prefecture the estimated effective doses are within a dose band of 10–50 mSv."

10 to 50 mSv is what the EPA's new PAG's are.

So the EPA is setting their guidelines to what the "most affected areas of Fukushima" received.

                • Mack Mack

Here's interesting info from the WHO report:

[1] "The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has categorized all types of ionizing radiation as carcinogenic to humans"

Iozining radiation causes these types of Cancers:

leukaemia, a large number of solid cancer sites including oral cavity, bone, oesophagus, stomach,
colon, liver, lung, non-melanoma skin cancer, female breast, ovary, urinary bladder,
                  brain/central nervous system and thyroid

                  [2] Latency periods for cancers:

thyroid – 4 to 5 years (3 yrs. found in Chernobyl)
                  breast – 12 years
                  leukemia – 2 to 5 years
                  solid cancers – 5

From Fukushima, the WHO is adopting the minimum latency periods as "2 years for leukaemia, 3 years for thyroid cancer and 5 years for female breast
                  cancer and all solid cancers."

[3] a few sieverts can cause a risk of heart and cardiovascular disease

[4] in utero – the developing brain from 8−15 weeks is the most sensitive to radiation

[5] A dose of 1 Gy is associated with a reduction of 25 points in IQ

                  [6] A dose of 1.5 Gy = Cataracts

Yes, the ramifications of this Nuclear Contamination onslaught are well known even after such a small window and very tiny operational life span of a little over 60 years.

Just think… what will be the ramifications for all life in the long term? They have no clue!

Yet, we find alarming research and many facts after Chernobyl and we still use this power?

This isn't a form of intelligence and or wisdom…this is pure greed…driven by our police state controllers. Nothing else!

We do not live on the sun….and never will!

Check out this "State Cancer Profiles" interactive website.

It shows cancer statistics, cancer demographics, cancer comparisons… all over the place.

    Super informative.

  • obewanspeaks obewanspeaks

Mack, I have been looking at these types of statistics now for over 15 years and they would all be great if they were accurate.

None of us have a clue if any of this info published is accurate to say the least. We hope it is accurate, but then there sure seems to be "lots of secrets" all over the place these days coming from all our prestigious institutions.

Thus no figures/charts/graphs can be and/or should be considered the holy grail. Plenty of people are moving constantly inside our country and most countries citizens are very mobile these days.

Nuclear Contamination is also very mobile and seems to be everywhere these days..we just can't see it.. but we can feel it when we have the cancer and or disease cut out of our bodies!

    • Mack Mack

You make great points, obewan, but I figure if they're willing to admit this many cancers, can you imagine how bad it really must be?

  • obewanspeaks obewanspeaks

I predict that 100% of the animal life on this planet at the end of the next 100 years will have some form of cancer diagnosed in their respective lifetimes. This would include all cancers (forms) unless one of the other well known byproducts and/or ramifications take them out first. The P53 mutations will continue unabated until the DNA/genome can catch up and adapt by rewriting the immune system codes based on the current radiation and other varied ongoing pollution onslaughts. Attempting to reach a solution for implementing survival of the fittest scenarios.

The funny thing is we already know that we will have a nuclear meltdown disaster about every (20) years or so and that will mean there will be (5) more minimum in this 100 year time frame. The last (3) disasters covered the entire planet with radioactive contamination pollution. Bio accumulation will proceed unabated based on continual fallout patterns. The numbers have been in our favor since there are few humans currently here on the planet and 70% of the surface of the earth is covered with water. She is a big planet but she is getting smaller after each nuclear disaster/event as these events spread this unnatural energy across the globe. One reason many women are choosing to remove their breasts if they inherit and/or possess the radioactive stimulated gene.

The gene is only part of the immune system warning triggering system which is clearly communicating with all of us.

    We just don't…

Wasn't this state mentioned earlier as a potential… "Hot Spot"?

I thought prostate cancer was only for very old men past their 70's?

Somebody is telling a fib or we are all downing the blue pill on a daily basis and most of us don't even know it.

  • obewanspeaks obewanspeaks

Yes its odd and like I said, " there sure seems to be "lots of secrets" all over the place these days coming from all our prestigious institutions."

I guess prostate cancer is now moving down to the younger folks…bio-accumulation must be increasing.
