Title: Bayou Corne Resident Meeting With La. State Representatives (Informal)

Louisiana State Representative Joe Harrison: I’m gonna tell you something, the infrared satellite vision that they have, these things can tell you more than you ever imagined. I leaned a lot about that during the BP thing. At the base where they’re at, they can tell you more things and actual chemical compound makeups with their equipment than I ever imagined they could. And they’re doing that right now, it’s being monitored.
Resident 1: They’re doing it through infrared?
Harrison: Yes ma’am they’re just not giving us the information.
Resident 2: Who is they?
Harrison: The federal government [...] This thing just seems to escalate [...] They need somebody to tie it all together [...] It needs to be declared a disaster. Once it’s declared a disaster, a whole new set of rules and regulations are enforced. [...]
Resident: What can we do to help push that along?
Harrison: They’re concerned about the viability of the highway [...] hit them where their pockets are. They really care about revenue [...] When you say you shut down Interstate 70 [...] Morgan City is a major thoroughfare for the energy industry [...] Forced evacuation was a second thing [...] Revenue is the big thing right now, I can tell you [...]
Once the feds take over that’s when things will happen. We’re in an in-between stage right now.

You just know this is really bad.

It just seems to look worse every day. A month ago I would have laughed at the idea of Louisiana blowing up. Didn't seem possible. Now the idea doesn't seem at all unrealistic.

Okay, so the federal government *does* know about the event and still there's no media coverage on it or intervention (other than the DHS involvement/monitoring) ….sounds intentional. Sounds like they have equipment (infrared satellite vision) used during the BP incident that could identify and answer A LOT of questions, doesn't it? If they know the "why" to its happening then isn't it a good probability they also can predict what is to happen next? They are monitoring — watching from a distance.
That's the problem with the situation now that those working on it don't have any answers (…or at least that's what they've told the public.) Sounds like that could also be very intentional given the upper hand in this situation. Still, leaves a whole lot of questions without answers.

I've been trying to find out what Louisiana State Representative Joe Harrison might be about – what side is he on and why?
I got to his website and found a "meet Joe" page http://www.joeharrison.us/meet-joe
It says in part "Education St. Patrick’s Military Academy, Harriman, New York",
"State of Louisiana Appointments and Committees
Appropriations
Education/Sub Committee of Appropriations
Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget
Natural Resources and Environment
Judiciary
Chairman of the Bayou Lafourche Diversion
Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority
Select Joint Committee on Oversight of the Gulf Coast Claims Facility
Supreme Court Ad-Hoc Committee – Board Member
Seafood Promotion Board – House Advisor",
"Public Service
…
Republican Party Central Committeeman, District 51",
"Profession
… I am president of Harrison Financial Services, a company founded in 1988 and now under the expert management of my son, Shawn. Our focus is on financial planning, employee benefits and insurance and is located at…"
I think I see where he is coming from. May we have the next witness, please.

One more item. I couldn't get this link to work for a while, but it seems to be fine now. Joe Harrison is a member of the Energy Council:
"The Energy Council is a legislative organization comprised of 11 energy-producing states, five Canadian provinces and the nation of Venezuela." (Who knew?)
http://legis.la.gov/boards/board_members.asp?board=786
I have no idea what this implies.

Aigeezer – thanks for digging for info. Membership on The Energy Council sure suggests pro-traditional energy interests. It's good that "transparency" turns out to be available whether or not individual 'actors' happen to supply or omit info!

7 acres of sinkhole, about 100 acres of subsidence, at this point.

I'm sure they are very good people but any jury consultant will tell you that they are withholding information from the people in attendance. It is written all over their faces and in their almost constant fidgeting. I am not criticizing, because I'm sure it felt like a firing squad to them and I'm sure they are sincere in their concern, but politics are clearly being placed over people. She even said it takes a domino effect of leaning to get the right authorities to take action. It is pure political theatre, not unlike the Petraus distraction. These people deserve better than this not only from local, but state and federal officials. I agree with whoever asked where the governor has been. My goodness, this could be the biggest news story in the world overnight and he isn't even a dispassionate observer. The campaign is over…where are our leaders? Thanks to those that did show up, it was just another example of the total lack of a sense of urgency.
