Fast-moving wildfire nears Los Alamos nuclear lab, Reuters, June 27, 2011:
[...] The speed at which the [Los Alamos] fire has grown has stunned fire officials.
“There are a lot of people who are just shocked and stunned at this number,” said Santa Fe National Forest spokesman Lawrence Lujan, referring to the estimated 44,000-acre fire.[...]

Is it not interesting how ALL of the EXPERTS(?) are always shocked, stunned, amazed and results are totally UNEXPECTED for everything nowadays. From the economy, monetary policy, environment, land and resource management, social programs, foreign policy, ad infinitum, the experts never see it coming. Everyone who is not an expert drawing large paychecks see it coming, but not the experts. I’m shocked.

Yes. That is the Los Alamos National Lab, where the Atomic Bomb was developed. And where new weapons (nuclear and non nuclear) are developed. It also is a massive nuclear storage facility.

The Last Big fire that affected Los Alamos back in 2000,
there was a minor scandal, quickly hushed-up, where a
local TV news chopper caught images of somebody or
somebodies going into tract-houses in non-burning
neighborhoods in Los Alamos, leaving them burning as they walked out and drove away. Local News Talk-Heads know to
shut-up or else. But some of the footage went on the News
for a couple days, then disappeared, no more comment.
