Cesium in fish off Chiba coast exceeds radiation limit for first time — 200 kilometers from Fukushima plant — Due east of Tokyo

NHK WORLD, Feb. 18, 2013: High levels of cesium detected in fish off Chiba […] Choshi is nearly 200 kilometers south of the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. Chiba Prefecture says it found 130 becquerels of cesium per kilogram in Japanese sea bass caught about 10 kilometers off Choshi on Thursday of last week. The acceptable limit is 100 becquerels. It is the first time that higher-than-permitted levels of radioactive substances have been found in fish landed at ports in the prefecture. […]

Video of millions of dolphins running away from the oceanic radiation plume coming from japan in san diego california.

estimated at 100K+ timemachine2020; not millions. They're not saying where they're coming from and don't speculate to why they're amassed in this super-pod. I would surmise from this rare sighting, something strange is going on. From the recent revelations about the seals, it is possible something horrific is driving this large group of dolphins to migrate to less hazardous areas. I just don't know.

Thanks for putting this story up. And your avatar is awesome…

Could be millions, did anyone count them? They are very intellegent creatures with radar and special knowledge of their environment. The plume is arriving in the US west coast. Ony makes sence for them to run. No one has ever witnessed this before. Many others agree with me. Many whales, dolphins and other sea masters are washing up all over the west coast. It is what it is. Ask Dr. Helen Caldicott what her opinion is on this. Thanks Ashock.

Famous quote from the movie Heaven can wait." Would you pay a penny for a fish that thinks?". We already know the answer the that one. The don't pay a penny to save their fellow human beings.

Fukushima kids have skyrocketing number of thyroid abnormalities – report

A recent report into the Fukushima Nuclear disaster of 2011 has shown that more than forty percent of children have thyroid abnormalities.

“Since the accident in Fukushima, no health effects from radiation have been observed, although we have heard reports some people fell ill due to stress from living as evacuees and due to worries and fears about radiation,” Kazuo Sakai of Japan's National Institute of Radiological Sciences has said.

My friend,in your comment you said "No health effcts from radiation have been observed" !!.Many effects have been observed, its just all being played down and under reported as the government of Japan are embarked on a "Damage limitation exercise" aimed at lying to their own people and the International community,in an effort to save face and the Japanese economy,so basically they are lying.remember just after 3/11 NO country wanted ANYTHING from Japan, even exported car were being checked for radiation abroad…never mind the food !!

  • TheBigPicture TheBigPicture

The fish isn't safe to eat, thanks to nuclear.

  • We Not They Finally

What was safe about the "permitted" levels in the first place? TEPCO and the Japanese government are just outright murdering their own people.

    • japan guinea pig

I echo your statement….Well said.Yes it appears to me that the Japanese government is prepared to kill its own people, just to save International face.japan is a nation in denial !!. Surprisingly the average Japanese person knows little if nothing about what is happening right under their noses.Basically because the Japanese government has gone out of its way to cover it up and under report the facts…..a real crime against humanity !

Eariler today I watched a video stating that there was a simular event last Feb. Then in march a few hundred dolphins washed up on beaches in Peru. There are no dolphins that reside in the waters off Peru. I wonder if the pod was travling south. I would not be supprised to hear of dolphins washing ashore in the same area this Mar. I tried to find the video for you guys. but dont remember where I saw it

  • patb2009

i'm surprised it's taken this long for the radiation to work it's this way south.

    • japan guinea pig

The radiation hasnt just worked its way south…its been there a long time its just that its all been covered up and under reported !!

Just curious.. How is ANY cesium safe in fish or any food for that matter? Does it not bio-accumulate? So eating several fish with "acceptable" levels of cesium will eventually make me sick?

And if there is cesium in the fish, how much plutonium is there? or what else they are not testing for??

I've noticed that many stores no longer list where the fish came from.. Highliner Foods for example want you to call a 1800 number if you have questions. It just says where the fish was packed in the box (packaged in.. ) but not where the fish was caught. So sadly, I haven't been eating much fish since 3-11…

I don't know if I'm over-reacting.. But I can't bring myself to feed my family anything I feel may be contaminated.

When I read your comment it touch me deeply, especially when you said you havent eaten much fish since 3/11.My wife has not let my son eat almost anything that wasnt grown locally, and definately no milk, fish and meat from up north. So eventually we got to a point where we ask ourselves is this the kind of country that we want to live in and bring our child up in.Anyway the final straw was when Osaka city started burning the Debris ("Gareki) from Tohoku.Osaka is very close to where we live…so my wife quit her University job and took my son out of the country….and shes Japanese !!. I plan to follow shortly. Some of my wifes friends (all Japanese) have moved to Malaysia and Phillipines.i plan to get out of here when my contract finishes in March…japan is in SERIOUS problems and DENIAL.We just dont know where to go or what to eat here anymore, because the Government are mixing the rice, fish, milk, from up north with the other produce…thats why a lot of the rice is now marked as "Blended".The saddest thing of all is that most people dont know what their government is doing to them….so sad !!.Its an International crime against humanity.

Chernobyl; Animal Studies Show Radiation Is Still Harming Our Wild Companions; via A Green Road

  • AGreenRoad AGreenRoad

This will be an ongoing story for a long, long time.

Chernobyl caused animals and food plants up to thousands of miles away to become contaminated and dangerous to consume.

However, very few governments or corporations want to know… It could hurt profits. Specifically, the nuclear industry wants this information and testing stuff to go away and disappear.

Thus, little or no testing is done, and it is dropped as soon as possible even when it is done.

Bottom line, you are on your own, eating radioactively contaminated food.

Try and find a local bomb shelter, or a lab that tests for internal radiation in your area.. Bet you can't find either one…

Everything has or is being dismantled and taken away that protects people from radiation.
