Title: Sinkhole evacuees stranded for some time
Source: The Louisiana Weekly
Author: Susan Buchanan
Date: November 26, 2012
[...] Fish appear to be unaffected by the event, [Dennis Landry, a local resident and businessman] said. “We haven’t seen any dead fish or wildlife from the sinkhole,” he said. “A modest fish kill in the area in late August was caused by Hurricane Isaac. [...]
The sinkhole’s impact on businesses has been mixed. “I’ve lost thousands of dollars in cancellations at my Cajun Cabins since last August,” Landry said. “I own three cabins on Bayou Corne. But at the same time, I’m renting my cabins and recreational-vehicle spaces to responding state agencies and to Shaw Environmental.”

He continued “I feel the authorities and Texas Brine are telling us most of what we need to know [...]

Perhaps the fish swam to safer waters. I wonder how far from the sinkhole they have to go to find healthy fish now in the bayou.
If the sinkhole sunk 6 inches the other day, the water from the bayou rushed in to replace it. If there were fish in those waters, it would seem they would die in the sinkhole water.
Maybe they should talk to a fisherman rather than a businessman about the state of fish.

Cataclysmic, I was wondering about that too and the lack of flyovers.
The 28 sec video was too short. I watched it several times. When you look out beyond the thick oil, you can see bubbling spots and as they pan to the right just before they cut the video, the water looks agitated. What did they cut from the video is what I'm wondering after the 28 seconds.

The Board collected $1.5 million in bonuses in the November lease sale, bringing the new Fiscal Year ‘12-13, total collected to $8.6 million.
Could this explain lack of flyover, lack of reporting, lack of concern?
Wonder if those that purchased all these leases know about the sinkhole, and if so, what do they know? Where they just robbed by dnr??
Are the favorite companies selling out pushing these losses on to new lease holders maybe???

Just wait until La 70 gets hit by subsidence and the road closes. Bayou Corne is a dead town.

How would you see dead fish through the thick layer of oil on top of the sinkhole?
The stuff coming up from the sinkhole can't be healthy for anything trying to live in the water.
The boom confines floating oil on the surface, but I expect that the water in the sinkhole is connected to the nearby river and swampland.
