Why does fibro pain get worse when fatigued? Relates to mitochondria of small diameter nerve fibers?
Here is one study re: mitochondria of small diameter nerve fibers:
"This technique uses filtering and rectifying procedures to avoid phase cancellation and loss of asynchronized and temporally dispersed small fiber responses in common average procedures. New method will also apply repetitive stimulation and fatigue to evaluate small fiber function under elaborate conditions and to assess in vivo functional deficits in small diameter fibers related to mitochondrial abnormalities by depletion of energy reserves in the nerve fibers. From:

Pretty technical language for me but I may vaguely get the gist. The study is to pin-point with greater accuracy the effects of micro-nerve damage that might develop for any number of different causes? I had to look up mitochondria and then also eukaryote! (I'm retirement age and haven't taken a biology class since 1st yr university many decades ago! I usually get by but this is too technically packed! .. 🙂

Wikip-: "In cell biology, a mitochondrion (plural mitochondria) is a membrane-enclosed organelle found in most eukaryotic cells…These organelles range from 0.5 to 1.0 micrometer in diameter. Mitochondria are sometimes described as "cellular power plants" because they generate most of the cell's supply of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), used as a source of chemical energy…In addition to supplying cellular energy, mitochondria are involved in a range of other processes, such as signaling, cellular differentiation, cell death, as well as the control of the cell cycle and cell growth."

I think I pretty much follow the function of mitochondria at least.

So mitochondria are within cells making up our bodies – thus also nerve fibers? And if mitochondria function is impaired, then nerve responses are also – and this can be related to tiredness and pain .. and you're linking this to radiation exposure and sickness? … makes sense to me! (??)

Hi ML – I just caught Anne's post above yours, which gives me more context – didn't realize you were carrying on an in-process discussion! Will review both your posts and any above them that relate more carefully – soon I hope!!

Maggie123, I just copied his post from another forum, so the information wouldn't be lost. I have fibromylgia, and never realized that it was probably from radiation exposure. So I am very interested in ML's posts, but didn't contribute to the dialogue.

          • Maggie123

Thanks, Anne. My daughter has fibromylgia – it is a challenge to live with. I'll keep radiation link or exacerbation in mind, will keep a look out for more info. (She so far has found assorted ways to deal with hers that work for her so I try not to 'pester' with new angles!) 🙂

Interesting conversation anne. The symptom of FB is very much like Bura Bura Byo, in other words, constant unshakable fatigue, pain and affects all systems. I had a suspicion but how do you prove the connection!? It's like these Japanese kids with thyroid problem aren't even recognised that they've been affected by the radiation! It's not an easy thing to have because most people will look at you and think you've got nothing wrong with you that includes some doctors!

            • Maggie123

GlowInTheDark & Anne – Glow's post caused "chronic fatigue syndrome", CFS, to pop to mind. It was a puzzle for years, denied in fact. Now I'm thinking about subtle toxins, including radioactive contaminants – drifting contaminants from open air testing. CFS didn't become an apparent "issue" until we'd had a couple of decades of post WW2 enthusiastic use of the "convenience of newly developed chemicals". A problem is that so many unnatural chemicals were in such widespread use that anything linked to weakened immune systems surely has multiple potential causes (and may likely develop from complex exposures to an assortment of toxins.) This gives industry an 'out' – "not our specific chemical at fault" they say. It's the "soup" that puts bodies in chronic "repair" mode – this should be a no-brainer!

Radioactive isotopes in the Japanese black substance.

    Posted on September 24, 2012

I found this table on a Japanese website this morning. It is a spectroscopic analysis of the mysterious Japanese substance at different sites all over Japan now, and coming to a pair of lungs near you soon.

    It contains radioisotopes such as plutonium-241, cesium-137, uranium-235, gallium-57, cobalt-57, cobalt-60, manganese-54, and technetium-99.

This web page is an interactive spectrographic analysis tool which enables the user to analyze the black substance him or herself, using a mouse. Outstanding web programming here.

    • Noah

      The nature of the problem

I re-posted an post from NoNukes as it reflects an ongoing concern. That the fallout circulating around the globe contains multiple radioisotopes, randomly group together.

I believe the matrix holding the isotopes together are carbon based. Carbon encased nano particles behaving as gas, are presently traveling the world on air currents. They are randomly grouped together encased in carbon and can travel at high speeds, being extremely small and light and tough. They can float on the very top of the ocean, or go airborne and circulate globally. This enhanced super particle was created by the use of sea water used as a fuel rod cooling agent. Known as the Fukushima Bucky ball, they are still being created, as active molten corium is contacting under ground sea water beneath the Fukushima plants and pluming to the surface as radioactive steam.

      • Noah

Will Fukushima continue to produce "Buckey Balls"?

        Sea Water Contact Continues
        Quote from Yoichi Shimatsu, 7-28-11

“Fukushima No.1 rests on landfill comprising loose rock and sand over the natural seabed and is positioned only a couple of meters above the high tide mark. Water seepage and earthquake-caused liquefaction have seriously disturbed this rather weak soil structure…."
“Much of the danger comes from simpler processes. Extremely hot magma, consisting of nuclear residues mixed with soil minerals, will boil any sea water seeping underground, creating pressurized steam. Think of oatmeal cooking in a pot and how bubbles create blow holes. The same is happening inside the landfill.

        • Sol Man

From my first reading of the nano-Bucky Balls I have been concerned about them laying on the surface water only to be swept up with evaporation, only then to be spread further around the world in rain. Can anyone here with greater knowledge verify or cancel the possibility of this happening?

plutonium buckey balls, and enhanced corrosion allowing much quicker, and further movement of radioactive particles..

"The intense radiation field of the fuel will cause radiolysis of water and formation of peroxide (as well as other species)(2). Peroxide enhances the corrosion rate of UO2 by oxidizing U (IV) to the much more soluble U(VI) that exists as the linear dioxo uranyl cation, ðUO2 Þ2þ. Peroxide strongly complexes uranyl(3), which increases its aqueous solubility under alkaline conditions."

The entire article is now available, as opposed to just the abstract that was available last year..

    • Noah

Larger particles "fallout" closer to the Fukushima Plants. Lighter and smaller particles travel further. Nano particles circulate globally.

    • Noah

The world has never seen carbon encased radioactive particles.

The 311 event cannot therefore be likened to the Chernobyl event.

This disaster is unique, one of a kind.

We are dealing with A particle form of randomly grouped radioisotopes encased in carbon. Light, fast and tough, capable of traveling extraordinary distances.

Particle behavior in past text books only cover specific isotopes, no one has studied this new omnibus particle of randomly grouped isotopes encased in a carbon matrix. A new branch of physical chemistry must emerge to determine it's properties and design counter measures.

    SP4 & Global Threat

The impact of the future failure of SP4 is well known throughout the ENEnews community. The chain of events that will follow the failure of the pool, will be fire & aerosolization. The nano particle release of MOX fuel will spread more nano particular PU-241 globally. The oxidation of SP4 will make the Fukushima site unworkable, and force complete evacuation. The failure of the remaining unmanned units, with their storage pools, will occur within days. No one dare speak of the effects ALL fuel pools at the site oxidizing at the same time.

I have accepted this outcome. The technology does not exist to solve this problem at the Fukushima site.

We must continue to prepare for this global event.

I am now working on a chelation protocol to remediate the ingestion of PU-241. This will complete my understanding of the iron pathway which PU isotopes exploits.

    • Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar anne

Factors influencing the uptake of iron and plutonium into cells.

"Metal uptake from the citrate complex can be prevented only by the presence of other chelating agents and/or by transferrin. It can be assumed, therefore, that the metals react directly with constituents of the cell membrane, a process in which chelating agents can successfully compete if they form strong enough complexes with the metals."

Int J Radiat Biol Relat Stud Phys Chem Med. 1988 Mar;53(3):489-500.

      • Noah

It has been my understanding that PU exploits biochemical pathways used by iron to enter human tissue. However, metal uptake can be prevented by the presence of chelating agent by means of competitive inhibition.

Should a major event take place involving MOX fuel, such as the burning of SFP4, having chelating agents in play within the blood stream is the way to go.

        • I think you are right, the problem is you have to do it while the Pu is in the blood, before it has found a new home.

Once that nasty stuff and uranium is in organs and bones, it is effectively impossible to get rid of them.

      • Noah

Chelation proves effective against internal PU exposure.

In past studies, particularly the famous USTUR whole body case study, focused on the use of CA-DTPA and CA-EDTA. The study continued of 37 years following Subject from initial exposure to aerosol acidic PU to death of Subject, followed by autopsy. At autopsy, all major soft tissue organs were harvested for radiochemical analyses of their PU-238, PU-239, PU-240 and AM-241 content.

EDTA and DTPA chelation succeeded in reducing substantially the long-term burden of plutonium in all body organs, except for the lungs.

The calculated reductions in organ content at the time of Subject's death are approximately 40% for the liver, 60% for other soft tissues (muscle, skin, glands, etc.), 50% for the kidneys, and 50% for the skeleton.

      • Noah

        EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid)

EDTA has been proven effective against PU, as PU chemically mimics iron.

EDTA is used to bind metal ions in the practice of chelation therapy, e.g., for treating mercury and lead poisoning. It is used in a similar manner to remove excess iron from the body.

It is EDTA's affinity to iron that makes it effective against PU. PU mimics iron's chemical properties and is complexed or chemically bonded with the EDTA and carried out of the body in urine and feces.

The Best Cell Phone Safety Recommendations
Number One Cell Phone Safety Recommendation: Don't Use Cell Phones!
      7. Avoid using wired headsets.
      • Headsets, including the ear buds that come with most cell phones today, have been shown to act as antennas, channeling the EMR directly into the ear canal. [Reference: Dr. George Carlo, Medical Alert: Aggravated Symptom Relapses (May 2008)]
      • When you use regular ear buds or ear pieces, you’re getting 3 times more EMR than if you held the cell phone against your ear, and you’re getting it directly into your ear canal, and therefore into your brain.
      • This is also a good reason to avoid listening to music on your cell phone.

      8. Use an air tube headset with ferrite beads.
      • This type of headset is believed to be safer, because EMR can’t travel up the air tube like it does on a regular wired earphone.
      • Unlike regular headsets, the air tube headset doesn’t act as an antenna.
      • Ferrite beads suppress the EMR and dissipate it. In other words, they absorb the EMR and convert it into heat.
      • For maximum protection and better cell phone safety, use an air tube headset with a ferrite bead placed as near as possible to the cell phone.
      9. Use the speaker phone as much as possible.

It's like brushing your teeth. Brushing regularly does not guarantee that you will not get cavities but it improves your chances.

    Children and X-rays

"By sharpening our perceptions more subtle radiation effects can often become observable where once they went unnoticed."

"For example, a series of X-rays received by a young child may cause temporary depression of the white blood cells, and ten days to two weeks after the exposure the child will get influenza or some other infectious disease. Ordinarily the parent views the two events as unconnected."

Their chart is based on short term (time) exposure.
    (pretty sure)

Long term low dose 'fluctuating' exposure we don't really know, except to say that it's not good. (obviously)

What 'low dosing' does and how different people are effected we will no doubt find out in the coming months and years.

    • So, if a basic X-ray can do that, the what does low dose, long term, 'fluctuating' radiation do?

      Seems simple enough to me.

Economic Effect of Widespread Low Level Radiation

It is a well established fact that widespread low level radiation exposure effects whole populations health wise. As health decreases, total productivity slows, this slowing is reflected economically.

The continuing mass exposure of the Northern Hemisphere, since 311, is predictive of economic slow down within nations north of the equator. Conversely, more healthy populations south of the equator is predictive of increasing productivity and prosperity.

The true wealth of nations is the health of their people. Without health, individuals, families, cities and consequently nations are impoverished. Without health, vigorous inspired work is diminished and slowed. Productivity is decreased, people don't feel like working, effecting the national economy and gross domestic product. If you are not feeling well, going to work is not fun.

I am deeply impressed by this part:
Professor Bryn Bridges, now the director of COMARE, complained in The Ecologist [Environmental genetic hazards: the important problem, The Ecologist, June 1971] 28 years ago, of the absurdity of existing safety standards in view of the large numbers of mutagens to which each member of the modern population was exposed. "What is a suitable recommendation for one mutagen (i.e. radiation)," he wrote, "will not suffice when each of a number of mutagens is considered." It has been estimated that about 1,000 to 1,500 new chemicals are introduced into the environment each year, of which no more than a minute fraction is tested for mutagenic activity. If a thousand mutagens were each allowed at population doses which doubled the spontaneous rate, then the overall rate might go up a thousandfold quite apart from any synergistic interaction which might occur."
Bryn Bridges is today one of the most important, most respected figures in this whole field. This statement alone, made 28 years ago, makes complete nonsense of the safety standards for exposure to chemicals as well as to different types of radioactivity that are still in use.

"The danger to public health from a food supply tainted with high strontium-89 levels cannot be overstated. Internalized strontium-89 is far more dangerous than cesium-137. Cesium-137 pumps out a gamma ray of 661,000 electron volts whereas strontium-89 pumps out beta particles with an electron volt ranking of 1,495,000, or 2.25 times higher. Also, because beta rays travel about one-tenth the distance in cellular tissue than gamma rays the absorbed dose from betas by exposed tissues is significantly greater than for gamma and thus the damage potential is greater (for gammas, the exposure is 'diluted' across much more tissue than betas, or alphas). Furthermore, whereas cesium-137 pools in the muscle, strontium-89 pools in the bone, which is far more linked to vital processes (except the heart muscle, of course) and is a smaller organ than the 'muscle organ', so the impact from internalized strontium-89 is considerably greater than the same quantity of internalized cesium-137."

      Chelation of Strontium
THESIS: Catch food borne radioactive Strontium while it is still in the digestive/intestinal tract.

It is commonly known that once radioactive Strontium-89 and Strontium-90 imbeds within the bone matrix, it is very difficult to remove. Therefore, chelation protocols I developed to protect my family, calls for the use of oral chelator ingestion before, during and after eating. The Noah family regularly utilizes this principle at every meal. Reference my past posts, regarding the use of apple pectin (apple pectin protocol) for example. The use of chelators during the meal time makes my protocol unique among therapeutic modalities addressing the remediation of radioactive particle ingestion.

To reduce absorption of radioactive Strontium Isotopes, I recommend the use of Southern Hemisphere sourced arginate to be taken before, during and after meals. Food grade arginate has demonstrated in lab rats the ability to reduce the strontium-90 in the plasma and urine by 64 and 75 % respectively.

Low level radiation "ingested gradually" was "a factor in the increases in local cancer death rates" around Oak Ridge, Tennessee:

"Results indicate that the increases in the local area (under 100 miles from Oak Ridge) exceeded regional increases and far exceeded national increases. Within the region, increases were greatest in rural areas, in Anderson County (where Oak Ridge is located), in mountainous counties, and in the region downwind of Oak Ridge. Each of these findings suggest that low levels of radiation, ingested gradually by local residents, were a factor in the increases in local cancer death rates"

Fukushima AIDs. Like Chernobyl AIDs. I don't recall how I found this link. It explains a lot in terms of all the sea lions and other animals are falling sick enmass.

"New study: Is there a link between childhood obesity and radiation?

Fact: Obesity affects about one-fifth of all American children.

Fact: Asthma is the most prevalent chronic childhood disease.

Fact? There could be a link between these two common childhood conditions and… radiation exposure.

According to the new report released by senior researcher De-Kun Li of Kaiser Permanente in Oakland, CA, there is a link betweem EMF exposures for babies in utero and risks of these conditions later on."

The scientific jigsaw puzzle: Fitting the pieces of the low-level radiation debate
    Jan Beyea
“…It is now reasonably clear that protracted exposure does not protect against radiation-induced cancer. Rather, it is the cumulative radiation exposure from all sources that must be examined. In developed countries, the average accumulated dose from medical procedures is now so high that a significant percentage of the population in these countries will be above 0.1 Sv. Therefore, this population will be primed for radiation-induced, delayed cancers from releases from nuclear reactors or dirty bombs, even using the hypothetical dose-response models of the LNT dissenters. There is no longer a convenient excuse to avoid using the LNT to estimate consequences from real or projected releases of radioactive materials, even when the dose of concern is below 0.1 Sv….”

“…In summary, a growing number of optimally designed epidemiological studies among nuclear
workers, the low-dose data of the A-bomb follow-up, and studies of environmentally exposed
populations, have been fully supported by microdosimetric studies on the cellular level. They leave no
doubt that the claims for hormetic effects of low-dose exposures, and the existence of a ‘threshold’ or
‘zero-effect’ exposure range can no longer be based on undecided ‘scientific evidence’. All the
‘proofs’ and ‘studies’ the crusaders for increased allowable radioactive exposures have continued to
cite represent either invalid or misleading interpretations of flawed epidemiological studies….”
