It's really looking bad there now, there's no disguising all the stuff pouring out. I can only imagine how radioactive this is and where it's spreading to. Filthy, filthy muck :- ( The view looks all grainy now. Is that cesium?
And what have Tepco got to say about this latest worsening of the situation – zilch!!
I've also noticed the clock stopping then skipping ahead. Another effort at manipulation??
Well, they are going on vacation. And have been taking weekends off for some time. Perhaps #4 is going down… making for a good time to take vacation. F*ckers.

"Woah…it looks like a big steam or smoke event that culminates at 1:47:34 with an emergency alarm light going off at the top of that tall post in the center of the screen.
The alarm light seems to reflect on the metal on the ground below in several locations? Or at least I hope its the light reflection and not some kind of neutron beam…
Anyone see that and have some idea of what it might be?"
Yes I could see the red light go off and assume it is due to high radiation thus an alarm. I do not think it is neutron beam but an alarm system perhaps that is why they are taking a vacation from the premises. I certainly hope I'm wrong. Anyone else have any ideas?
"Taking a vacation." In some dark (but fairly knowledgeable) corner of my mind, I'm suspecting it'll be a permanent vacation. At a certain point – and I'm not there calling the shots on when that point arrives – there's simply nothing more you can do. They've got what passes for a jury-rigged pumping system, some generators, offsite power, and zeo-concrete on the bottom of the lagoon. Plus a billion yen freshly delivered by the gub'ment. Might be time to cut and run, join their families in Argentina.
They aren't actually 'cooling' any corium at this point – it's long gone. They are still (hopefully) cooling the spent fuel pools. It could be that they simply can no longer stay. No nuke takes a vacation… check it out. Maybe the 'worst' (on some level) is now happening, they want a couple of weeks to figure out how to leak it to the public that's being dumped on. Need to check for iodine. If it's there, it's fresh. And corium erupting out of the cliff to the lagoon will produce quite a lot of it.

The smoking is probably because no one is there to work on the coolant system. Of course, it is possible that all or most of the fuel is gone from #4 already since March or April of 2011, and it is possible that there is no way to keep the cooling system going in #2 and #4, and no one wants to be there when another explosion occurs. The radiation level may be so high that you would die in seconds even if wearing the most advanced anti-radiation suits.

Don`t you think this places trigger each other?
And we really miss Nuck.
And I wish you luck with your efforts. Ask Whoopy for assistance, she is great at this.
Something might be missing…the steam in the vid is coming from the background area (R3 and 4), but at :36 a bird lands foreground near the camera and immediately leaves, and a few seconds later a small animal comes running from behind camera the right and disappears down to R1. Something else was happening right rear of the camera at the same time that they were getting away from. That was also my question recently when the recent "fog" or "steam" appeared close foreground: could some of the steam be coming from occurrences behind the camera, from R5 and R6? Also, this vid…if they're on vacation, someone's moving the cranes at 1:12. But I could always be wrong.
Thanks Pure Water. Yes .. I still think there are three main hotspot causing mess right now. At base of tower 2 (far right) .. and between R2 and R3 (or just R3 itself) and behind R1 and R2 where they have tbeen ranferring contaminated water from the basements of R1 to R2; R2 is known to be leaky (to ocean). Some could be just blown water cycle lines .. some could be worse. We areleft to speculate.
And we have no clue what is happening out of camera view. Danaii big mystery.
And then there is always R4 SFP. But I don't think (just MHO) that's what is acting up right now .. still just hanging by that literal thread in spite of Tepco's assurances. (See their website for their official "all is well" press release blah de blah re SFP4 .. will postlink if needed.)
Just to say I noticed the Tepcam go off too last night.I wouldn't be surprised of they HAD switched to a tape now or even just put a picture up. After all. they ARE on vacation aren't they <rolls eyes>. But I did find a cam view working on radioactive chat at the time the usual cam views were out. I think it was live but ya never know.
But before the tepcam went off, when I was viewing it, I saw the clock counter stalling then jumping on. Hadn't seen THAT before.
Sure is a bad time to take a holiday there but I can't imagine how anyone could work in such a dangerous situation and maybe the workers have just decided enough is enough?? Having said that though, I did see one crane working on the 1st May ………
Looks like the TBScam is permanently broken – nothing for days now. Maybe needs volunteers to go upon the hill to fix it? Just shows how good the Tepcam has been and in much closer quarters to the reactors.
The TBS Webcam just has a picture up..for those who dont notice. Like a milk sop. Bet TEPCO is getting ready to send their senior officials and their families from Japan (remember those "new" Japanese cities in other countries?) — and are making tracks for "high ground" before the next earthquake/leak/weather event occurs.
Odd anomalies in this segment at.18 maybe a bird above the light, at .45 and .51 like a window opening and closing and at 1.54 next to right railing under derrick like a ghost appearing and disappearing.
Hello,
Pink steam everywhere, and it looks like #4 or the CFP is literally billowing brown smoke… I think the pool may be burning, which explains the "vacation"..
If you have a God, now might be a good time to pray….
"IS THERE ANYTHING…?" Probably not is my gut feeling and it's been that way since 3/11/2011.
They have attempted to slow things down, but there is NO PLAN. There NEVER WAS a plan. Even 'logical' evacuation plans were never followed through. Not really.
This battle for truth and debates like we have now should have occurred early on or back in 1979 after TMI. But there was no internet then and only 3 major networks, so control and feed of information was easier for the technocrats. The gathering of needed information and data in order to make a truly informed decision on the topic was much more difficult. So, the majority relied on experts to 'tell' them.
Although, currently, the 'feed' techniques have become more sophisticated along with the increase in information overload.
"IS THERE ANYTHING THAT CAN BE DONE AT THIS POINT?"
SP: Well it's as good a time as any to take care of any personal business so I bought a 12-string Alvarez guitar tonight (used 2003 model). I am planning on relearning a few songs. *;-)
I think it might be nice to be living in Rio to avoid the bad fallout, but like most of the reluctant Japanese I am also not up for a trans-hemisphere emigration. Sure I could do it, but I could only take a couple of relatives and I would rather stay and die than abandon the rest. Capiche?
Well back on thread…the pink-cesium tinted China Syndrome gases in this webcam clip from several hours ago is a definite buzz kill:
The crane above Unit 4 hasn't moved an inch in 42 hours and I think work has pretty well ceased at Daiichi. Abandoned? Perhaps, but more likely they are just avoiding the worst of the fallout and hope the corium doesn't blow them down to the next prefecture in little pieces.
It's never been a buzzing hive of activity anyway…they work about 3 to 4 hours a day maximum…never more than a few dozen workers at a time. It's been too radioactive for nearly 14 months and workers have died and been quietly removed in lead coffins.
Yes it is getting close to Goodnight Irene. Old folk song and I never knew it had the lyrics Ken Kesey used in his great book Sometimes a Great Notion.
Pretty apropo lyrics for Daiichi folks:
Sometimes I live in the country
Sometimes I live in the town
Sometimes I have a great notion
To jump In the river and drown
SP: A little trivia….Ken Kesey has been dead over 10 years now, but his book Sometimes a Great Notion was the very first HBO movie shown in 1972. Great flick…if you get a chance (don't wait too long!) get it at Amazon or Netflix. Paul Newman was great.
Obligatory on thread comments: Check out at the 1:00 minute mark into the 3 minute latest night clip at Daiichi: Just downright freaky looking above the tower:
Kinda reminds me of Mt. St. Helens in 1980 and Johnston, whose famous last radio transmission was: "Vancouver! Vancouver! This is it!" Old Harry Truman refused to leave and ended up fried under 800 feet of hot volcanic mud at Spirit Lake.
For example, gathering all top experts and bright minds in the world, who agree to work for free, giving them all real data and search for a solution. It can be late, but to do the right thing is better late, than never.
Now TBS shows a blue screen with strange noises, tepco`s camera is covered with raindrops and fog is covering the whole plant. The fog spreaded from the side of the work light area in several minutes, as far as I was able to see. It had no structure or speed patterns as the fog from the previous days.
Houston: Tepco is reporting its successful landing of Fuku-Daiichi on the Moon. Tepco did not report on their location, however.—
<http://youtu.be/rE9P3yi14vg>
Seriously though, during the clearing times, there are significant changes to be seen:
1) All the floors above the lowest of #3 look totally blackened, have looked so for several days back. #4 shows no floors at all, just a blackened char-broiled edifice.
@dharmasyd I thought the same as you, about the blackening.
It's been raining there for quite a while so not much to be seen at the moment A mixture of fog? and radioactive steam? makes the images look rather ghostly.
I'm sorry to say that reactor building 4 looks like it's on fire. The work light hasn't come on yet, at least, not last time I checked, but something is burning where 4 is. May God help us all if this is so.
Fog and more "fog" and blowing to the West. Any emissions/fog will go towards populated areas today and maybe tomorrow. The weather is due to a storm just off Japan, and it shows. Fog..likely more due to heat and cold air. Anyone see R4 and R1 clearly before all the fog/rain drop diffusion started? Is a mess.
Really worried know, as the place has a YELLOW 'haze' now!! I haven't seen that there before.
PLEA TO TEPCO – PLEASE PUT THE TBS VIEW BACK ON and let people SEE what is really happening there. If it is as bad as the little we can see looks to be, then people have the RIGHT to know it so they can make personal plans of what to do. Get the hell as far away as possible (and who knows where could be safe?) immediately springs to mind!!
That red and gold pixelation we sometimes see sparkling through the wall of reactor building 1 is everywhere now. You can see it's lighter where reactor buildings 1 and 2 are, behind the haze. This is no small incident.
SP: Iodine and many radioactive metals turn pink and yellow when mixed with rain water. Iodine-131 has a short half-life, but delivers a more powerful short term dose than the longer-lived cousins.
Speculation: So perhaps we have what the nucear cabal scientists said would not happen again at Daiichi…the fuel rods (whether in their crippled ponds or in the ground as masses of corium) have begun a large scale fission process.
The result may be a huge dirty "bomb" release. China Syndrome if you will.
Whether this means possibly an actual supersonic atomic fission blast or just a largescale fizzle of emissions remains to be seen. But theories about China Syndrome behavior include that the underground water vein gets hot enough and then explodes in a massive hydrovolcanic explosion.
A CME (Coronal Mass Ejection) of the atmosphere is the most extreme theory for corium behavior. Hopefully not. Because if that happens we all have about 3 minutes to say goodbye to mother earth.
I don't dismiss a CME out of hand…the amount of Fukushambles fuel far surpasses earlier atomic bombs.
Hi gals and guys, we all keep watching and understand it's getting worse. We knew this would happen and know this Fukushing shit is gonna keep coming.
The radiation has spiked in the Kanagawa prefecture.
#1 and #2 look like two ominous foolish gods vanishing gradually into misty nothingness. We are few to watch but our numbers are bound to be growing. One day, it won't be a couple of hundred viewers, or single digits for that matter, but millions. Except it will be after SFP#4 has gone haywire. A slow but inevitable process if we don't move our butts.
@ pure water, we sure can wonder why the big minds haven't already made this their sole preoccupation.
Well, some necessarily have, but then they still have to gather with strong and organized determination and take over Tepco and IAEA et al. to get the right data, access, unlimited funding and most precious of all highly-skilled motivated and ballsy labour…
Meanwhile, a 90-year-old Buddhist nun is going on hunger strike.
We can only do what we can. These days, I wish I had some civil engineering expertise. I'm watching and writing to my representatives.
What else can an ordinary single French Mum do?

You have had a bad run of luck nuck…sorry about your laptop and the solding iron burn. Ice and aloe vera works wonders (aloe not so bad for the Fuku intestina problems also).
Good to see you back Nuckelchen. Agree with Heart too.
Why would Crapco purposely scare the shit out of everyone here with what they certainly know is terrifyingly close to Yellow Rain and use a sepia coloration?
Usually in smoke, fog isn't blue better for the contrast enhance?
last night i had dreamed from the forum here and one thing i remembers was that the admin had talked with me "nucky, from now on you alloud to make one post per week"
loel
that must be "the cold turkey" from that every junky is still talking…
hehe
I had a dream I was teaching a class of about 1,000 students and everytime I turned around they had run outside. Wore me out in my dream rounding up those little stray students…like dealing with a litter of ten labrador puppies.
Hey, Nuck I am getting a videocamera delivered today …check it out:
I may be woozy from radiation…but I ain't dead yet!
I'd like to sneak over to Fukuville and take some tourist clips for home examination. But looking at the latest video feeds…I do want a better radiation suit than the Tepco martyrs.
@Nuck – That wasn't Admin. That was a Tep-Co-Intell-Pro disinformation agent trying to discourage you. As just one more member of the Nuckie-Groupie Fan Club, I am here to say, "Never fear! We've got your back! And sending besser wishes for a speedy puter recovery.
Just looking this over.
1:45..blowout
3:25..blowout with shoreline involvement
See at 3:38..the fog rolls in ..look in the distance near Daini..the fog rolls up from off shore there as well http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQbT_a6b9As&feature=plcp
Heart: . Liked this one especially. Winds variable, so you can see the source of radiofog, flowing out of Fuku3 and Fuku4 (or up from the ground in between), and can clearly see it blown out to sea, or right towards the camera. Nice catch.
Sigh. Anybody see anything from citizen monitors about iodine? If these beasties are going down (or merely now flowing into the sea), there should be new iodine.
Honestly, I'm getting a little suspicious of all the 'new' concern being publicly expressed with demands to "DO SOMETHING!!!" to Japanese government and UN. Timing is very awkward given TEPCO's vacation. I mean, it's not like the last act wasn't entirely predictable in March of last year or anything…
Fukushima Diary is reporting Iodine detections in Tokyo and Yamanashi
I personally think the rise in Japanese demands for the UN to intervene is a desperate plea for help, for a situation that has gotten totally out of control
I think the proverbial s_ _ t has hit the fan big time.
Just tracing back a bit. I wanted to put on record here that the 'yellow' started coming up at about 18.30 (1.30in)
Timelapse: 18:00-19:00 03.05.2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tvopf6iSmB0&list=UUDu1KkkwuzybKx6MXQgGHuw&index=5&feature=plcp
It crept up suddenly and had a pinkish tinge to it. Reactor 1 also looked to be very bright, a window showing up quite well, even through the 'haze'.
BTW I've captured this clip, in case it gets taken down. Used Youtube Downloader, converting it to an 'avi file' so it plays in my media player. Seems to work ok.
Thanks for the tip-off JC. Have just had a look and the view looks weird. Looked like blackish smoke was blowing across from left to right and also white steam/smoke coming up from just in front of the cam view. The foreground does look strange, like it's built up or something. Looks very odd – I don't know quite what to make of it.
It looks unreal, so maybe it is?? Anyone else care to comment?
The TBS cam has moved..and Reactors 1 and 2 are not shown.So..did something happen to them? Weird scene, gas rising from the ground, reactor 3 and 4 are hard to identify. If something happened last night..must have been Reactor 1 or 2 as the major locations. TEPCO is interesting, but mostly pasted up, with the floating crane and such. Time will tell…
on TEPCO CAM's last release 2012.05.04 06:00-07:00 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALsdQhaaoVM&feature=youtu.be It takes a few minutes for thethe steam/smoke whatever it is to rise from the ground up and invade the view.
As for TBS/JNN, this half view on Fuk does look scary. Only the birds chirping in the background make it sound real.
Cranes are at a standstill. So is MSM as usual.
@nuckelchen Do you think it is possible the large waves from the weather offshore JAPAN could have "rolled" up over the seawall and THAT was what caused the steam? Or up into the groundwater area where the corium is? Looking at the ocean/waves they were not exactly quiet…

Stay strong.

Well back on thread…the pink-cesium tinted China Syndrome gases in this webcam clip from several hours ago is a definite buzz kill:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWVpaD0Edlw&list=UUDu1KkkwuzybKx6MXQgGHuw&index=5&feature=plcp
TBC…

Fog and more "fog" and blowing to the West. Any emissions/fog will go towards populated areas today and maybe tomorrow. The weather is due to a storm just off Japan, and it shows. Yellow tint in the atmosphere at Fukushima Daiichi:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NpmTG5K438Q&list=UUDu1KkkwuzybKx6MXQgGHuw&index=1&feature=plcp
And look what a single atmospheric bomb test did back in the 1962: http://www.geekosystem.com/nuke-space-photo/
With scientists like that…it's no wonder the human race is on the mat for an 8-count.
