i think that fuku timelaspe has chosen the blur for their minute captures of these hours and that the cameras are still rolling.
The blurs can be seen during "activity" at the plant.

  • Has anyone noticed that when the industrial light on the Tepco webcam is turned off one can see a white glow emanating from top of the building that must be unit 4?

I've noticed this before but saw it again today.

The glow is whitish and it comes in and out of focus as if it were being blurred into oblivion before it shines out again.

    Has anyone else seen this?

Is it an artifact of the film or could it be something else?

    thanks

Wow, Nuckelchen, you've outdone yourself this time! (American expression meaning you rock!) :-)

What the heck IS that black thing? It almost looks like a giant bug or bird flying around that somehow got caught inside the tent and was desperately flying around, looking for an escape route…and eventually found it.

What was even more disturbing was the obvious hot particles spewing upwards inside the tent and making their way airborne to the outside atmosphere.

Good work! Whew…Time to get outside for a breather…of what, I have no idea, but at least the sun is shining here! :-P

It moves the way a flashlight moves when someone is walking over rough ground, or a spotlight looking around for something, only the "light" is black. I know, that doesn't make sense either.

Hi Nuck .. I have watched shadows like that before. IMHO it's a bird in *serious* distress or disorientation. Usually you can see the bird in the big spotlight at some point casting that shadow on the reactors .. but we can't see it this time in your clip (thanks so much for providing). Either too far right or something is my thought.

And in other examples of this .. always in my experience .. this is followed by one of those blowouts that show the sparkle showers.

Which always are edited by Tepco. You and 4545 have captured a couple before Tepco edited out. It is anyone's conjecture what the sparkle showers are .. but FuckCo definitely doesn't want the world to see them.

Have posted this on other msgs here at Enenews but will follow it here:

Rare tornado hit eastern Japan today. Imagine if this had hit Fucku NPP:

      http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/video/2012/may/06/tornado-japanese-city-video?newsfeed=true

Don't know why Tepcam archives are slimy mess when your tapes are clear. My thoght .. if I was just a poor schmuck worker risking my life for whatever reason to save Japan and had been lied to the way these workers, Japan and the world have been: 1) that's what my gut would have done inside and looked like if I thought that mofo tornado might have hit the plant and SFP4.

      Energize .. fight on.
      Peace,
      Bako

Maybe a spider as spiders seem to grow large and well in radiation. Nuckelchen, I can see your name in lights..producer/director of the BLACK PLAGUE OF SPIDERS. Seriously, am more concerned with the activity seen inside the tent of Reactor 1 and 2. Reactor 1 is just boiling inside..and all those emissions are heading into the atmosphere. Its criminal not to try and stop the continuous outflow of deadly radiation. Where are the concerned government agencies? If WE were to dump dish water into the river–we go to jail! If Japan, accident or on purpose, dumps poison all over the world..silence. Again..criminal..not Japan who likely has no way to stop this themselves..but INTERNATIONAL ignorance.

If this is some sort of "the % of illness, shorterm, is 24.81%" mentality…they are way off. If this is some sort of way to limit or eliminate excess population ..got news for everyone..we are going to become the next extinct species. Slugs and worms will have higher IQs than our offspring….

This reminds me of an article I read years ago [no links sorry]. Mammals are most sensitive to radiation, with reptiles next, tolerant of 10x as much. Then fish/insects, tolerant of 10x that of reptiles. Trees are so tolerant they can grow whilst glowing in the dark. This happened near Chernobyl, and it upset the residents, so the authorities cut the forest down.

the absence of trolls on ene is lovely, atypical, and surprising given the emotional tension re dire scenario. tears are healthy in this case, Bako, and healthy to share about tears.
some here exaggerate the negative, which fear is understandable but counterproductively leads some to give up prematurely. i watched some of the tedious live streams people were freaking over and didn't see anything alarming.
remember that caldicott and gunderson are going to southern hemisphere IF unit 4 goes.
and HOW WILL WE KNOW if/when?
it's in the interest of those in power to stabilize unit 4 until its fuel rods can go to dry cask. i'm encouraged that cranes are mucking about.
the final curtain call won't actually end till the fat lady, our Mother Earth, has stopped singing and the last single hand claps in utter silence.

TBS/JNN webcam is very clear right now. Good chance to look at the status of buildings. Reactor 4 and 3 look as if they have been dismantled even more than before. R4 has a large and dark hole where we used to see workers running back and forth. R3 does not even have much structure at all..just a few twigs of old steel sticking up.

@jec Hiya!! I've been wondering the same and for quite some time. To me it looks just like a black mangled mess where we had seen workers previously working. And I don't understand how all that vigorous demolition work (tearing apart nearby structures) could have gone on right next to the SFP. I would have thought it was too precarious. But everyone is still worried about it remaining intact – RIGHT?? All the experts and everyone …. So it must still be there, Yes? To me those recent 'PR' pictures of the white tarp and workers standing so relaxed at the side of the SFP, looks a far cry from the blackened mess we can currently see in the middle of R4. Just saying ……..

BTW in the TBS view, what is that new biggish black object just to the right of R3? I haven't seen this before. Darn it the TBS has just gone out of focus and is now bobbing up and down. It's dusk there as well.

I was watching one of 45454's clips earlier from 5th May and it showed the cam zooming in and out, panoramic spanning, focusing and just how sharp the view could be. Probably calibrating the/a new cam?

Based on reports at FD and what I see on the video cams…they are doing an all-out press trying to tear down overhanging walls at Unit 4 and remove the wall debris (not the re-racked rods of course). The Fuku1 feeds showed daylight crane activity from 9:30 AM until after 5 PM…must be an alltime daily work record for their deconstruction crews in the face of enormous building radiation.

I don't think they can work too much at night other than retrieve some of the debris they lay out in front of the walls. Too tricky to decide how to get out the dangerous structural walls without rupturing the spent fuel pond.

So I think the 95,000 nuclear rods are still inside the gaping hulk of Unit 4. If that mass of rods starts burning they will burn very hot and with thick black smoke. You will know it if it happens. You can wave goodbye to Arnie and friends as they jet on down to Rio. My advice to them…band together with many friends and buy lots of defensive devices.

How long will the nuclear rods burn if they ignite in situ or collapse to the ground? That's a trillion dollar question for the Northern hemisphere population. I will pull this guess from my nether regions:

If Unit 4 SPF burns fully engulfed and no cooling is applied…maybe the 90,000 rods burns up in four weeks or less. If they try to cool it with air assaults then it could go on much longer. So which is better…fast and tough or slow and rough? Neither probably.

    TBC…

Cont…But still there is little hope. Reminds me of the Readers Digest story of the careless grandpa who held his grandson on his lap on a tractor. He hit a bump and his grandson fell off. The grandpa looked to see if the huge tractor tires missed the boy. They did miss…but the shredder behind the tractor was not so forgiving.

Same scenario on a larger scale at Fukushima..

If the plant is abandoned after a Unit 4 disaster…then the 390,000 rods in the Common Spent Fuel building will follow with a massive fire for months and a few weeks later the Unit 5 and 6 will meltdown and add on more fallout. The sister plant Daini up the road a little bit may be also lost.

But just the 6 units at Daiichi are enough to change the world forever for the bad. It's a nightmare unfolding and a race against time to stop it from happening. a handful of Japanese workers are trying to save the billions of people in the Northern Hemisphere…maybe the entire world. They could use some help.

Dominos falling. Once one goes with massive contamination in Japan, then the rest follow. Simply put..no one will be able to run/protect other plants due to high radiation levels. How long can a plant run without human workers? And that is just Japan. What happens if other countries start to be contaminated..West Coast USA. What happens when there are no workers to keep the plants under control or in cold shutdown. Dominos! Why isn't something being done RIGHT NOW instead of waiting? Fear of Action? Fear of telling people we are in BIG trouble? Forget the economy, there will not be any economy if Fukushima continues on the current path. Rio will have a lot of company!

Just a thought. Your efforts so deserve rewarding! :-)

          Keep up the amazing work!

Big hugs and much appreciation! xoxo

Thank you, Nuckelchen, for the brilliant horror films. I remember when youtube did that last year, that was insane. You must have many fans in government paid positions, too.

The jumping shadow-gremlin-insect is really a graphic overlay? That one gave me chills, as did the emissions pouring out everywhere. It does look like black smoke pouring out of the blackened reactor 4, majia. Reactor 1 is heart-stopping, too.

@Nuckelchen .. many thanks for the warning .. and for all your hard and creative work on the videos. Watched once today .. strong .. no fucking tears. Just as I was signing on to right now tell you I was holding up and to let you know how much I appreciated your concern and smile last night ..

Felt wet on my face under my nose .. wiped it away .. it's fucking bleeding again. OK .. crying now .. never had a single nosebleed as a kid. EVER. One of my students this week had spontaneous nosebleed .. asked him same: "do you usually get nosebleeds?" "No .."

Would rather have had tears over video than a damn bloody nose.

But gonna load my playlist. Jam in my earphones and stomp around the block at least a couple of times with a wad of tp stuffed up my right nostril.

Gonna be strong. Take best care Nuck and EneFriends.

      You are on my heart.

Bako, I am so sorry to hear you are still having nosebleeds and now one of your students! I am concerned Bakersfield has some nasty things in its air, and it may not be completely from Fuku. Have you researched to see what other NPPs or research reactors or coal emissions plants (which emit radiation too from the coal) are in your area?

Have you contacted the State Dept. of Health to notify them and ask what's up? Do you know about AirNow.gov, which shows maps of projected air quality (particulates, etc.) for each state? Maybe your nosebleeds are a combination of factors?

Please see a doctor and let us know what you learn.

Take good care of yourself! Get a HEPA filter and maybe consider exercising indoors on smoggy days?

Sending big, healing {{{hugs}}} to you, Bako. Take good care. G'nite.

Nuckelchen has done it again. Spent many hours to figure this one out. If we all had the determination of Nuckelchen the crisis could be over. Thank you, your hours and hours of work are necessary for the future of NO NUCLEAR.

Look at this map, posted by omtatsat@:

You deserve to know this! The water temperature near Fuku is 38 degrees! For people who feel uncomfortable with Celcius degrees – this is the temperature of a human body with moderate fever

My heart is breaking to see the sacrifices we all know these heros are making. Wonder when TEPCO will admit how many of these workers are terminally radiated. And hope they are given all the medical assistance in their illness –pain relief and knowledge their sacrifice was not in vain. And their families are safe…somewhere..

SP: Is it possible they are trying to transfer water and broken fuel chunks down to a newly constructed lower level pool?

If so I am shocked they would attempt it with the 15-20 workers we see in the long range clip. So it could be an emergency. If so things may be going downhill (literally) in a hurry at Unit 4.

@nuckelchen, do you mind if I send your .pdf link to Fairewinds asking for explanation of the May 8th NPP parameters data? Tepco states that their information indicators are uncertain, so the focus is on the indicators that are working (one or two?) and certain 'trends.' It might be helpful to have an expert review the data for the trends. The pressures and radioactive concentrations in the PCV's might indicate melt out or melt through. Reactor 2's PCV hydrogen concentration of .52/.53vol% could indicate continuing build up to a kaboom (I don't know). For sure, reliable data points are difficult to pull out of this nuclear swamp, awash in sea and treated water that comes in from below, over the top, and through, what are essentially leaking sieves.

Now that water storage area is tapped out, there's been no mention of when a ton of water will be poured over reactor 4, to flow out with rad. isotopes into the ocean- DAILY. Like many of Tepco's 'solutions,' the results are short lived and create more problems. Who is running this show? Are we supposed to sit back and watch everything in the Pacific Ocean die? It seems all we can do is watch and wait and send messages to our govt. representatives so they know we are aware and expect answers!

    • 38 degrees c when I checked, that is jacuzzi like. Maybe a technical malfunction? The waters there are usually much colder.

Otherwise, it would be of great concern as that would make northern Japan's ocean waters the warmest on the planet. (?)

I hope for a mistake and avoid posting my speculations, just because this thing blew my mind when I saw it. But can not stop checking and can not forget pictures from previous days. "38" was missing twice, sometimes is black and sometimes gray. I could not find information about underwater volcano there. If the number is positioned correctly, it should be above some of deepest waters.

Satellite measures the heat signature of the water. It might not be heat..but the radiation giving a false heat reading to the cameras. Any one want to comment on that? What would it take to make a satellite image –show up HOT due to radiation? OR it could be an underground volcano..OR somewhere TEPCO dumped a massive amount of fuel assemblies. I vote for the radiation in the water causing an erroneous reading by the satellite. Guess we will wait and see..

Found the grey 38.0 C heat location –about right for all the radiation being dumped into the ocean.

yeah, i did see normal temps about 12 hours ago, now it's 38 again.

mind you, there is a -5 degree spot just west of India. In the middle of high 20 degree areas of the equator. There must be a chance for error, I'm supposing.

Still, very curious for location, why there and at 38 of all places?

Location of Ocean Research ships is very interesting on the above link! Off W.Coast USA MANY (which may be normal), two in the Alaska area, two in the off coastal Japan, and so on. Would be good know which are looking or NOT looking at the radiation situation in the Pacific Ocean.

TEPCO Reactor 1 is bubbling tonight. In the windows/port in the tent, see more of the light violet/blue inside. Its similar to the oval color projected on the "Tent" from inside activities. Reactor 2 is showing a lot of emissions as well. Grade? Reactor 1 wins today, Reactor 2, then Reactors 4 and 3. Why 4 at the D slot? Until an EQ or subsidence event, Reactors 1 and 2 seem more active with LESS information. It could be they are on full run away mode, so TEPCO is just trying to ignore them..Or not.

that there will be from one moment to an other no more h2 in the building of nr 1 is strange,
because more heat will more cook the water into h2 and not otherways..?
