As regular posters here, you are very aware of the effort it takes to maintain site credibility and you both put in a lot of effort to provide quality input. It is much appreciated by those of us that are unable to contribute as often as we would like. I appreciate so many of the contributors to this website and usually just browse as I multitask other obligations.
I would not want to degrade the value of this website in anyway by posting information that does not appear to be carefully considered. I have posted links to Fukushima and Miyagi Webcams and Hope Ranch Webcam archive links to provide additional data points without taking the time that others, such as ChasAha, have taken in the past to use software filters that emphasize what can be seen in those Webcams.
To truly complete the Enenews conversation, we really need direct access to global radionuclide measurements which we do not have. So, each contributor in their own way uses the next best tools available, which are not necessarily the best tools, but they do provide data that can be combined with other data to get a broader picture of what may be happening.
I have been watching the Fukushima Webcams since they were referenced by another poster last year and there is a pretty good correlation between the light distortions and color spectrums and the illumination of the sky and what is seen or reported on the TEPCO and JNN/TBS Webcams and what is seen in the Fukushima Webcams.

I will give a few examples. When the TEPCO and JNN/TBS webcams display blue and purple pixelated light distortions and those are accompanied by higher radiation readings in Japan, the same color pixelations and light distortions appear in the sky in very specific locations on each of the individual Fukushima Webcams. When criticality is being reported, the sky is lit up during night time viewing and the light spreads across the sky from a constant originating location on each individual Webcam. When TEPCO and JNN/TBS Webcams show pink refraction or yellow/orange refraction or blue/green refraction, it generally matches the refraction that is seen in the sky on the Fukushima Webcams.
But, most importantly, when there is no reported or visual criticality at the Daiichi plant, the sky in the Fukushima Webcams is completely normal without any light distortion at all.
Before my previous PC went belly up (translate, dropped on the floor), I had set up the software to record and capture the events and the correlations between all of the Webcams using suggestions from other posters. I have been unable to return to my efforts and even feel derelict in my duty to contribute to my full ability.
I know the regular contributors here are quite capable of using references that I link here and deciding the value of those links for themselves. But, without any explanation on my part, it might at first glance look like a disjointed contribution.

Thank you so much for your links to the webcams, and your reports on the visuals on the Miyagi webcam. I will follow your installation advice once my laptop gets out of the shop. I think it is important to expand our investigation to other plants in Japan more often, as Majia and Anne have done.
We have seen so many floating objects on these webcams for example, cranes missing their bottom half, for so long that the idea that these videos are without manipulation is incomprehensible to me at this point. I agree that the sky itself does seem to match the Hope Ranch webcam, as you say ChasAha does an excellent job revealing to us.
You describe things so clearly, brainheart, what do you see in the link that vital1 has posted?

I think it is smoke. I only come to that conclusion by stepping backward. The origin of the release is much more clear towards the end of the video and if you run the video on pause and step it backwards, you can see how the cloud which includes what looks like smoke at the beginning of the posted video could have potentially built up in the first place. There does appear to be lens distortion caused by the smoke or maybe even smoky plasma.

I have noticed most of this occurs on the joint with the two outrigger arms, and perhaps only when a crane is in operation. Perhaps the running cables act as van de graf charge carriers and something keeps them from being grounded, like grease in the joints or something. A thought

To be honest. I really can't tell.
It looks like reflections at times and at other times it looks charged up.
The middle wire on the second crane from the right does look 'whiter' and more static looking. So maybe it's a combination?
There are prior recordings of a bolt shooting like a cannon and then a strike occurs to another crane. (several pages back)
Something does happen, that I'm certain of.
What triggers the phenomenon I do not know.
Possibly 1 or more:
(Speculation only)
1. Moisture/humidity
2. Emissions (ionization load)
3. Sun reflecting and then heating metal parts
(perhaps making them more susceptible to static charge?)
4. Something not grounded properly
5. Wires shorting due to rad exposure
6. ?

It seems fairly obvious we start with snow, which sticks to the camera. There is a light shining on the base of the tower and a few other places. As night takes over, the camera makes automatic exposure adjustments and the light first appears yellow then fades to white. There is a smaller red light also. The snow has been slowly melting or falling off and what remains looks like smoke. Or maybe I missed the smoke and fire that people are talking about.

cross checking the electrical discharge effect on the other camera, I could believe its simply reflected sunlight as someone had speculated before for a similar event. The videos are so compressed and distorted, it seems a fair waste to look at them. But then when that final cataclysm occurs, well heck, you wouldn't want to miss it. In the mean time, Im pretty sure there is some cranes and wreckage and stuff.

Hi, swg. I was relocating during the period you are wondering about, so I didn't check in here for weeks and can't help with that. There is another mysterious something that we saw here about a year ago or earlier. People here were commenting that it looked like an eye in the clouds. It appeared from nowhere, stayed a while then disappeared, unsolved. Don't know if anyone took screenshots. I came across something similar watching vids of the live cam in Antarctica, where, lo and behold, something similar was caught by their webcam. It remained for about 20 minutes. Hang in.

My guess would be somebody walking with a flashlight.
The spot where it first appears is where they were spaying stuff and doing work on that corner of R3. (Spotted by Sickputer the other day I believe.)
After the light crosses the top of R4, moments later, a not so bright bluish white light follows the same path. Like someone else behind the first guy, but with a smaller flashlight.
The 20x speed of the fuk1live recording makes it look likes it's floating more.
If it was someone with a flashlight, then the next question is what the heck were they doing?

Yes I saw it at 2:20 in on the 20X speed Fuku1 Live Youtube clip for 5:00-6:00 12-13-2012.
As you say the first guy walks across with big floodlight and then the next guy has a smaller one. I think they might be checking water level down in the pool. Something went wrong after the earthquake and the water level may be lower than before (and it never has been great). I think they have kept the level low over the past 20 months because of the danger of heavy water weight on the corroding building.
Fuels rods don't really begin to have significant cooling until 24-48 months after last reactor use and they haven't had normal cooling anyway. So lots of luck on pulling the assemblies out by the end of 2014. I think another year will be necessary, maybe longer.

My best guess would be a camera glitch. We have seen those, but this one doesn't look quite the same, not as digital looking. So I'm really not sure on this one?

1. It really does not look like the usual digitized camera glitch to me.
2. I don't think it's a photo-shop.
Yes, it does look like that at first, because it's so odd, but 'WHY?' would someone go to the trouble to put an orange blip for less than a second. It covers nothing. Most people cannot even see it if they blink or are not fast on the pause button. So, that part makes no sense to me.
3. I really have no clue.

On high res it's very colourful. I also noticed what looks like photoshop blocks over the area where the worker was spraying on R3 the other day. Seen when I zoomed in and had a look around. Looks like some sort of large pipe going across R4 and maybe down into the patched up hole in the right side of R4.

ChasAha, thanks for all your video work. CB has a theory below, which it could well turn out to be. Here's another interesting thought–if the object is terrestrial-based–US experiments with anti-gravity and masking technologies has been going on for decades. That's where Stealth success came from. By now they should have something workable. If the masking technology is not perfected, the masking can occasionally fail, causing the object to be visible momentarily. This particular strange sighting may not be related to that at all. Just another possibility. Could be that over the years some of the sightings of flying objects that are unidentified are our own experiments and test flights. Again, this is just a fleeting thought–as fleeting as the sighting itself. Respects.

On the close up zoom, to me anyway, there is what looks like a 'dark cloud' behind the orange splash.
Maybe the expert photoshopper person from Tepco clicked on one of the orange boxes when selecting the spray over color choice. (That's what I first thought anyway.)

My own HO: the orange saucer is the same color as the 2 orange rad screens. There is a great deal of heat coming out of R4, as revealed by satellite photos. I believe the saucer was a momentary mirage caused by heated air refracting light from one of the screens. Not the first strange phenomenon we have seen.

It is hard to imagine how the fuel in 4 could be "intact" if there are these levels of heat radiating out.
There is no doubt radiation in the emissions.
How much of the inventory in 4 has already and is currently off gassing?

Whatever is left (melted assemblies mainly I am guessing) is off gassing furiously. The water is boiling off by the tons every day and being restored by fresh water. A new heat exchanger piping system (we saw completed about 7-8 months into the crisis) is cooling the water somewhat. At least enough to keep it from boiling dry along with the addition of fresh water to the pond. As I understand it the heat exchanger cools the water, but does not come into contact with the pool water. So no radioactive sludge or filtering unless there is a leak in the pool we don't know about. So the burned off heated water vapor vents out into the atmosphere. I doubt there are roof filters for that vented radioactivity.
I may be wrong about how this works, but from my research this is my supposition. Some of our resident former technicians may help out with corrections or additional notes.
I do feel the stainless steel pool probably is intact. The problem is if it tilts over and falls through the upper floors from subsidence or an earthquake destroying the concrete building floors or walls. If the pool loses the contents or is damaged falling then they will have to spray water nonstop by remote control cranes cannons. The fuel may not be cooled enough with those methods. There will have to be extraordinary (suicide) measures undertaken to reestablish cooling "control". That scenario is possible for about three more years in my estimation based on the decay heat in the rods.

Awkward phrasing. I am at the hospital with my wife's dad and he is not likely to make it to Christmas (liver cancer). I meant to say the heat exchanger piping does touch and cool the water, but does not flow inside its pipes the hot water from the pond. Two separate systems… A pool of hot water and a radiator-like baffle of cooling pipes. Hope that sounds better.

The smokey look could also be a spray coming from the cherry picker. (speculation only)

Nuckelchen does it again! just tilt the screen back or look up in the oval..talk about a silly childish coverup..looks like a crayon drawing for the edges. Too poor to even say they used Photoshop software.
The company would sue the demonstrators for defamation. (sarcasm). It is pretty bad. Under the blocking images is a terrible situation for workers. Doesnt matter WHAT country they belong to. Anyone see higher incident rated of radiation illness in S. America or the Pacific from contract workers hired by TEPCO?

Probably their dosemeters read .01 mSv..for that work. Not sure its a cherry picker..its flashing orange and red under the "tent", box or crayon coverup. If a radiation caused color in the camera view..its pretty bad.

FD looked eery enough without the big crane to the left starting up and stopping right between R3 & R4 before it started swinging the block & tackle back & forth like a pendulum?!! Then a green "plasma"-looking ball of ??? shot up from R3 and the crane swung back towards R1 & R2 and from there it looked like maybe(?) somebody "new" was taking over as the operator being replaced exceeded his RAD limits??!! IDK,but I sometimes feel like I'm about to watch that place light up like a christmas tree building into a blinding,extended flash as if looking into a camera able to observe the insides of the Sun followed by BAD,BAD news and The End

@majia, good catch and comments. For the vent stack near reactor 3, it looks like "emissions", or heat going up BOTH of the legs facing the TEPCO cam(cant see the back two legs which are next to reactor 3. TEPCO JNN webcam shows the hillside view..and when looking up at the screen..its clear Reactor 1 is bright with emissions, under the "tent", and the vent near reactor 3 as well. bad bad bad for everyone…

There was a wave of radiation detected by multiple stations on the Radiation network passing over the USA in the last couple days. This would suggest that a lot of emissions have been released recently from the Fukushima site, since that 7.4 earthquake.

The conclusion is that the webcam heavy pixelisation means more emissions are on there way.

Hi Majia. I do not see reddish- brown from 3 on my screen, all I see is distortion. Its like when you can see heat rising from the road on a hot summer day. I checked the link you provided to see if it made a difference and it did not. Could be my computer is not as vivid. Older laptop, not HD. I think the recent 7.3 and large aftershocks have really shook things up and possibly caused problems not disclosed by TEPCO. Things like broken cooling lines, debris falling onto spent fuel rods, etc..

I think last night, the early morning hours of the 18th in Japan were especially bad for some reason. (?)
There is a relationship between heavy pixelation and the rad emissions. No doubt!

emissions looks much the same to me (same shite different day!) but there has been lots of activity and crane work..about 8-12 workers seen for a few minutes over near R1 tower this morning…9.00-10.00am jst approx 45 secs.in. hard to see exactly where or what they doing the angle is so weird but isn't that the common pool…not seen workers near there since the cam view changed in August. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqYtnTdyJDc&list=UUDu1KkkwuzybKx6MXQgGHuw&index=9
