The Latest: Officials monitoring controlled burn at Arkema

The Harris County Fire Marshal's Office said in a statement Sunday afternoon that the decision was made to take "proactive measures" to ignite the remaining trailers at the Arkema plant in Crosby through controlled means. The office said that the measures don't pose any additional risk to the community. The 1.5-mile evacuation zone around the Crosby plant is still in place.

Six of the trailers had remained after three others ignited in recent days, sending thick black smoke and tall flames into the air.

  • The BC wildfire action is moving rad eastward. My night sky is over haze so bad stars are real hard to see. Watch that new growth process in your trees. Everything is posted in the tree record if one would look.

I am guessing any surface fire is going to raise the contamination from a accident in recent time over and over before it's danger has passed.

Green Light for Lawsuit on Cancer Agent in Vacaville Water
    NICK CAHILL September 1, 2017

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (CN) – A federal judge on Friday advanced a lawsuit against a Northern California city accused of knowingly delivering drinking water contaminated with a carcinogen highlighted in the film “Erin Brockovich.”

U.S. District Judge Kimberly Mueller denied the city of Vacaville’s motion to dismiss an action filed in March by the environmental group California River Watch. The environmentalists want the city to be fined for each day it’s violated the federal Resource Conversation and Recovery Act by delivering chromium 6 through its water system to residential taps.

The lawsuit comes on the heels of recent tests revealing that high levels of chromium 6, which occurs naturally in rocks and soil and is used to make stainless steel and plastics, were found in five of the city’s 11 groundwater wells. River Watch claims the contaminated water sold to Vacaville’s 92,000 residents poses “an imminent and substantial endangerment to public health.”

[ Not sure if this fits under incompetence, corruptiom or criminality. ]

[ notice the author adds " which occurs naturally in rocks and soil ", a nice subliminal to the reader. ]

We Can't Stop Our Exposure to Toxic Chemicals Until We Rein In the Corporations Releasing Them

By the end of World War II, chemical manufacturers like DuPont, Shell and Monsanto shifted their military production to the domestic "war on pests." At the Rocky Mountain Arsenal outside of Denver, the US Army's Chemical Corps made chemical weapons alongside private chemical companies like Shell Oil Company, which leased Army facilities at RMA to make pesticides.

Today the US chemical manufacturing industry is an $800 billion business that has registered over 80,000 chemicals for use in the United States, with 2,000 new ones introduced each year. You and I are repositories for these chemicals. Toss your cigarettes in the trash bin, but you're still breathing benzene from vehicle exhaust and industrial emissions. The Centers for Disease Control's Fourth National Report on Human Exposure to Environmental Chemicals, issued in 2009 with updated data in 2017, looked for 308 synthetic chemicals in the blood or urine of Americans. Most were widely detected.

Gaining of wisdom requires an accurate account of history and the circumstances surrounding major events. The importance of certain scientific discoveries should never be overlooked. For instance, 75 years ago, shortly after it was realized that the heavy metal could liberate vast quantities of energy, the land was surveyed and staked out to mine, mill, and enrich U. A very useful device to locate it was a small tank charged with a low pressure noble gas. If a particle has enough energy to penetrate through the tank, it will ionize the gas to sustain an electric current. The point is, since civilization required this new energy source, the waters of the seas and oceans have increased in energy. The biggest contributors to the increase would have been from instances where large quantities of emitters have gotten out of their containment structures. Pondering, can predicted effects of releases be reversed by you and me?

          • "the land was surveyed and staked out to mine, mill, and enrich U"

Now there's some climate change data that is real!!!! Tell it hbjon!!!

Not only is it (nuclear industry) a real contributor to global warming, it's something we can do something about, STOP PRODUCING IT!!!

Ya can't stop the sun or change our ever changing orbit around it…

That's all fairy tale distraction studies that do nothing to help with real climate change!!!

Stop nuclear power, mining, transport and enrichment of uranium that produces VAST amounts of heat and green house gasses from the processing, transport (from A to Z) and active heat and nuclear pollution from plants that in turn heat the environment in which we live?

A noble (no pun intended) cause!!!

Now there's something we CAN do to STOP climate change!!!

Wanna stop the warming of our rivers and oceans and deadly radioactive pollution of vast areas of the world?

            NO MORE NUKES!!!

Anybody looked at the inputs required to build and supply a nuclear plant over it's life span and then dig a cave to store the waste for 10 thousand years?

1 + 900 does not equal clean, green or cheap and it's not abundant either. A single Nat gas plant can produce 10X plus the energy of a nuke plant. Without the risk of rendering half the country uninhabitable or the unnecessary heating of large sections of rivers, lakes and the oceans.

Too simple to be that hard to understand.

            • And let's not forget….

Turn off a nat gas plant and it cools completely in days…

Turn off a nuclear reactor and the spent (usless except as a poision or bomb material) and it will take 5 years to cool to a point where you could remove it from being constantly cooled in water…

So Who is actually the biggest offender when it comes to global temperature rise versus actual heat energy used for power production?

              A no brainer…

            • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

I dont think the nuclear industry contributes to global warming significantly. At least, not in a direct way…perhaps by disrupting the animal and plant life…

              • And yes Nuclear adds substantially to global warming from mining and enriching to building these plants cooling the waste for years to digging a hole in the ground to transporting the waste to the caves (all fossil fuel powered)…

…They even use fossil fueled power to run the plants.

You have to look at the entire cycle to understand that these plants use massive amounts of fossil fueled power from start to finish. AND warm the air and water around the plant to the point of killing the fish in the rivers they are using for cooling…

Key phrase to understanding why it is so obvious a nuclear plant adds to global warming?

And here's another jim dandy obvious club statement…

Wowsers if it had been a snake it would have bitten you…

the word is that earth has warmed 1.5 deg in the last 100 years. How much of that was from direct heating from the entire nuclear program?

Nuclear provides about 10% of the global energy. So, in very rough terms, thats about how much it may have contributed to any warming caused by Co2, and cooling. Cooling after shutdown is a very small percent of the energy.

Coal and gas require cooling and they all lose 2/3 of their energy this way, heating up rivers and bays. But that heat is not considered by science to be a significant cause of global warming, which they attribute to Co2.

Man contributes about 3%, if I remember right, to the C02. Water vapor is the main greenhouse gas. I think Co2 is also only about 3% of the total greenhouse effect…so 3% of 3%; so man is thought to contribute less than one tenth of a percent to the greenhouse gas, which is considered the driver of global warming.

So what is the nuclear contribution to global warming? Its possible that nuclear is affecting trees and plankton, and this would in turn effect the climate controlling factors. This is never considered by science…its disappointing

                  • Your'e missing the big picture code….

How much energy does it take to hollow out a mountain to store the waste? It's part of the nuclear cycle so it must be counted in the energy produced versus energy spent equation…

How much energy is used to mine the ore? Refine it? Transport it half way around the world? Enrich it?

Cool the waste for a minimum of 5 years after use?

Build the reactor complexes? Build the enrichment plants? build the reprocessing plants? Build the dry casks to store the waste in?

ALL Use fossil fuel power and that contributes to? You guessed it, global warming…

That is just some of the inputs…

Then you look a the energy produced while the reactors are operating and it becomes clear nuclear doesn't even qualify as a energy source in the first place…

If it takes more energy to create, operate and maintain than it produces, it's not a energy source…

                    • Here's a startling truth to consider…

If we had never built any nuclear power plants and simply used the fossil fuel used to build and maintain nuclear power from the beginning to make power directly (conventional power generation)…

We would have used less fossil fuel than was used to create and operate the nuclear power industry as a whole.

We would have made more power using less fossil fuel than nuclear requires to build, supply operate and dig into a mountain to store the wastes.

A 100% cycle (from the ground to spent and back in the ground) is how you judge power produced, not just the operating plant after its built and fully supplied…

And that's something you never here a pro nuke talk about.

                      Numbers HDog…only the numbers

                  • And code….

You are good at research and numbers…

I challenge you to research the input to output ratio of producing nuclear power.

Look at every aspect of this killer industry, from mining to waste management and storage…

Outta the ground, back into the ground and the energies required to keep it (waste) stable…

Mining, tailing management, construction of the plants, transportation, operation, cooling, reprocessing, construction of containment for spent fuel and locations, venting of spent waste locations and the degree of fossil fuel usage to accomplish these tasks.

The gap is staggering, undoubtedly the most inefficient power source known today that in fact takes WAY more power to build and maintain than it will EVER produce.

                    That's a research subject worth pursuing…

Let's do it blind, I won't release my research numbers until we both have completed the study.

And let's see how close our numbers are to each other when done.

And let's all do that study thoroughly before stating actual numbers (energy in – energy out)…

Staggering… And a tested proof when completed.

Maybe we can stop this madness before it's too late 🙂

Im going to guess that nuclear contributes a few percent at most. However the SECONDARY effect from destroying life could be huge, as seen by the effect of cloud seeding by plankton

"Most" of the electricity in the United States is produced using steam turbines

A turbine converts the kinetic energy of a moving fluid (liquid or gas) to mechanical energy. In a steam turbine, steam is forced against a series of blades mounted on a shaft. The steam rotates the shaft connected to a generator."

the C02 contribution from life-cycle nuclear is about 13% to 20% that of natural gas per power plant energy production. This accounts for mining, processing and transport. Nuclear energy contribution to global energy use is about 10%. So we can multiply 10% by 20% to get a rough idea of nuclear contribution to Co2, considered the anthropogenic contribution to global warming. Two percent.

                    • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

nuclear as a global warmer…if mans greenhouse gas is even responsible for warming the earth, nuclear is about 2% of it

Not only C02 is emitted in the nuclear life cycle. Other greenhouse gases contribute a total of about 30g to 120 g of Co2 equivalent per kWh from nuclear.

Somehow the spin master money grubbers got all the people PLUS the scientists frightened for their lives because of carbon, but hardly a peep about the fact we have lost over half the animals in 50 years, 90% of top ocean species, half the plankton and over half the trees, and then dumped nuclear fallout poison on the remaining polluted fractured plastic filled garbage dump of a planet.

There are about 3 trillion trees on the planet today but this represents just 45 per cent of the total number of trees that had existed before the rise of humans. We are cutting them down at the rate of about 15 billion a year. In 300 yeats man will have cut down all the trees.

The greenhouse gas carbon dioxide is food for plants, not a toxin. Not only is co2 just 3.62% of the greenhouse gas, the major one being water vapor, mans addition to c02 is very small, only 3.4%. So for every 800 balloons of greenhouse gas made by animals and nature, man contributes one balloon of greenhouse gas and only 2% of that is from the nuclear life cycle (not counting the almost inevitable catastrophic accidents and unforeseen problems with long term containment and decommissioning)

                    • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

life-cycle emissions for nuclear energy, based on mining high-grade uranium ore, of 65 grams of CO2 per kilowatt-hour, 10–20 g/kWh for wind trubine generators and 500–600 g/kWh for natural gas.
However, the world has only a few decades of high-grade uranium ore reserves left. When low-grade uranium ore is used, the life-cycle green house gas emissions will increase to 131 g/kWh

The mining process of uranium is similar to coal mining, with both open pit and underground mines. It produces similar environmental impacts, with the added hazard that uranium mine tailings are radioactive.

what is the true heating effect of globe earth from nuclear? First we need to understand the contribution of mans greenhouse gas, then compare the life cycle contribution of greenhouse gas from different energy sources.

Just how much of the "Greenhouse Effect" is caused by human activity?
0.117% of the greenhouse effect is due to atmospheric CO2 from human activity.
Total anthropogenic greenhouse gas is about 0.28%, if water vapor is taken into account– or about 5.53%, if not.

So the greenhouse gas contribution from nuclear is about 65 grams of CO2 per kilowatt-hour from nuke divided by 500–600 g/kWh for petro= 13% of petro, but only makes up 10% of the global energy, so 10% of 13% is 1.3% contribution to mans greenhouse gas. But mans greenhouse gas is only 5% of the total greenhouse gas, (exluding water vapor), so 1.3% of 5% is 0.065% or 6.5 parts per 10,000 parts.

But what about the nuclear waste heat? Its small, only 1/100th the greenhouse warming effect

                    • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

nuke warming…is it the waste heat? 2/3 is lost directly to waste heat from cooling power plants and the other third is lost to the environment during transport and use. The answer is no, the waste heat is not significant, except locally where it damages rivers lakes and coast ecology

342 Wm-2 as the mean quantity of solar radiation that falls on the entire surface of the earth.

waste heat from power plants is 0.028 watts/M2

                      total greenhouse warming 2.9 W/m2

the decay of radioactive elements in the Earth's crust (40TW) – amounts to near 0.1 W/m2 which is much more significant than the waste heat.

so we can see from the above figures that the greenhouse effect is 100x more than the waste heat effect. Mans total waste heat is one twelve thousands the average heat from the sun. That actually sounds pretty high to me.

Waste heat from nuclear is then .000008 x the solar input if my first pass calc is correct

how does nuke warming compare to planktons effect?

                      plankton reduces the amount of solar energy absorbed by roughly 4 watts per square meter over the course of a year because of cloud seeding. Thats;

620,000,000,000,000 watts over the Pacific ocean

anual energy consumption of man 12,300,000,000,000 watts

Based on those ballpark numbers, plankton has 50 times the effectiveness at altering global temperature as mans use of coal and nuclear

global warming…its the trees, the clouds, the plankton and a dying earth.

It would take a forest the size of Spain to offset mans Co2 emissions. Considering that we have cut down more than half the trees in the world, tree loss is a greater driver of climate than coal and oil burning and nuclear plants.

This is incidentally the problem in science models of climate change; Since plankton has a greater potential to alter climate than mans greenhouse gas, if you disrupt the plankton by a deluge of plastic, nuclear fallout and wierd chemicals, man could alter the climate in far more alarming ways than greenhouse gas

Does nuclear cause global warming by killing plankton and thus reducing its cloud seeding effect? Was the warm blob caused partly from fukushima as a secondary effect on plankton?

'A 5 percent increase in cloud reflectivity could compensate for the entire increase in greenhouse gases from the modern industrial era
recent measurements from the Clouds and the Earth’s Radiant Energy System CERES show that the net average cooling effect of clouds is -21W/m2

natural cyclic change in global cloud cover has a greater impact on global average temperatures than CO2. In conclusion, the gradual reduction in net cloud cover explains over 50% of global warming observed during the 80s and 90s, and the hiatus in warming since 1998 coincides with a stabilization of cloud forcing.'

So if nuclear adds a few percent to the greenhouse problem, what is the effect on climate?

" There is no dispute at all about the fact that even if punctiliously observed, the Kyoto Protocol would have an imperceptible effect on future temperatures — one-twentieth of a degree by 2050. "

Dr. S. Fred Singer, atmospheric physicist
Professor Emeritus of Environmental Sciences at the University of Virginia,

The Kyoto Protocol calls for carbon dioxide reductions of 30% from developed countries. Reducing man-made CO2 emissions this much would have an undetectable effect on climate

If the kyoto protocol was imposed equally on all countries around the world, it would reduce total greenhouse gas from CO2 by about 0.035%.

This is much less than the natural variability of Earth's climate system

and that is a 30% reduction. Ending all nuclear would reduce it 2%.

The real problem with nuclear is the poison! The poison, the poison! Dead zones, exclusion zones, nuclear war, deformed everything, systemic morbidity effect for all life to some degree or another….

    • "High levels of chromium 6, which occurs naturally in rocks and soil and is used to make stainless steel and plastics"

Now there's a lawyers statement if I've ever seen one!

There's nothing natural about the discovery of chromium 6 in the water supply.

There are manufactures and industries (offenders) releasing it to begin with.

      …Wonder who that could be?

Court rules Chromium 6 water standard not economically feasible:

So since they have found it to be a statewide problem with many offenders polluting our ground water (all over the country) they now wish to infer it comes from natural sources so no one can be blamed?

Chromium 6 or hexavalent chromium is used in manufacturing and as a rust inhibitor used in various factories around the country.

Since it's such a widespread and serious problem, leave it to a lawyer's press release to try to say it's a naturally occurring problem.

Nature is NOT the source of this problem any more that the lead in Flynt was naturally occurring.

Of course a layer could argue that since they piped the water (in flynt) to the homes using lead pipes and lead containing products it would be natural for it to get into the drinking water…

And now we have naturally occurring hexavalent chromium?

      What a crock!!!!

Somehow, we understand that a much deeper shift is needed, and sometimes we can feel this as an aching pain in our hearts and sorrow in our minds. I'm making a quality point that relates to increased energy in our environment. There are many significant sources of energy that can potentially increase the wind speeds of storms. Of course the sun is the biggest and most significant heater, but beyond that base load of energy, other factors play a part and raise energy values incrementally.

hbjon, thanks for clarifying. The harm from electromagnetic fields is a little analogous to radiation; how can so little energy do so much harm? The FCC tested radio effects…but they also had the same scientific concept as nukists; energy density. They just couldnt fathom that a tiny bit of energy could do anything…

I read that if you were 30 meters from a cell tower beaming straight at you, you would receive 4.4 microwatts per square centimeter, less than one percent of the FCC allowed energy from radio, which is 1,000 microwatts per square centimeter for 1900 MHz signals. Cell towers can radiate 500 watts, which is 2/3 of a horsepower. Cell phones might radiation as much as 3 watts. Its very small, compared to a lightbulb. Added energy is minor…its the signaling that messes up the physiology. Im sure you know all of that, but thats the reason I questioned the meaning of your post

Well, l it appears that the Nuke Pukes have got themselves into a pickle this time around with North Korea and this young pup over there.

It would be smart to engage China in this affair, since they are on NK's border and they are also a Nuclear Power. China should have all say in this matter now that NK has nuked itself and half the region over there with Nuke tests. All that Nuke fallout will leach worldwide eventually.

So what to do..have China set up a reunification meeting with both South and North leaders and bring Korea back to a one nation status, as It is silly to keep them divided into North and South.

Give China full power in these negotiations and the overseeing power for all Nuclear Programs in the new established Korea in the future. Korea must be brought into the Nuclear nation fold now that they are one. China can set up a similar state capitalism system for the new unified Korea to operate under.

The American command dismissed British concerns that mass bombardment would turn world opinion against them, insisting that air attacks were accurate and civilian casualties limited.6 Russian accusations of indiscriminate attacks on civilian targets did not register with the Americans at all. But for the North Koreans, living in fear of B-29 attacks for nearly three years, including the possibility of atomic bombs, the American air war left a deep and lasting impression. The DPRK government never forgot the lesson of North Korea’s vulnerability to American air attack, and for half a century after the Armistice continued to strengthen anti-aircraft defenses, build underground installations, and eventually develop nuclear weapons to ensure that North Korea would not find itself in such a position again. The long-term psychological effect of the war on the whole of North Korean society cannot be overestimated. The war against the United States, more than any other single factor, gave North Koreans a collective sense of anxiety and fear of outside threats that would continue long after the war’s end."

Israel Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked should be labeled an anti-Semite precisely because she has recently declared what we have been saying for years, that Zionism and human rights are ideologically incompatible.[1] In order for one to exist, the other has to be expunged. Shaked has posited that Zionism and “national challenges have become a legal blind spot.”[2]

Read this again and ask yourself this important question: Is Israel really a democratic state? Isn’t Shaked’s statement here implies that Zionism will trample upon every single human rights and universal law? And in that sense, shouldn’t Zionism be considered a dangerous ideology? Shaked continued to say that the system of human rights

“isn’t relevant when we’re talking about infiltrators from Africa who have settled in south Tel Aviv and established a city within a city, pushing out the residents of the neighborhoods…”

" Elite members of the highest paid professions use academic journals and mainstream media to openly preach fear, hate, prejudice and discrimination against people who disagree with them about vaccination
Recent editorials have called for violence against and even death sentences for parents who opt not to follow the recommended vaccination schedule. Racial profiling is also blatantly employed
Class and race baiting has no place in the public conversation about vaccination and there should be no safe harbor for those who engage in it. Until laws limit the authority of doctors to violate human rights, your health and freedom are at risk

"The parents were described as “wealthy, educated, liberal leaning” and often working in “technology, law and other white collar professions that demand critical thinking skills,” who put their children at risk by feeding them non-GMO organic food, taking them to holistic doctors, and paying $20,000 a year to send them to private schools where self-reliance, independence and critical thinking are taught."

And somehow that's to be turned in too a bad thing..these lobbying "medical proffesionals" mind's must be operating already in the coming slaveworld..

"There are about 750,000 medical doctors working in the U.S. and, although currently the top five medical specialties earn an average $400,000 to half a million dollars per year, the average annual income for most doctors is between $190,000 and $240,000, which is more than six times the U.S. median income of about $36,000 and four times the U.S. household median income of $56,000"

Oh i forgot to add lol..There is a time and place for everything..

          • DUDe it is perplexing how you can hold a detailed understanding of the Zionist threat, and yet not see the rape of the constitution under GW and Obama as part of that plot. If we didn't have Trump we would have Hillary, the jack boot outcome should be clear on that.

Trump will fuck up some things, but he is restoring the Constitution, and backing down the prior moves to loss of sovereignty for USA (JWO / NWO)

For an "empty sentence" it sure got some fiery responses, LOL

stock , first , the fact that i could not smell the supposed content of that sentence gives you hardly any basis to claim i do seeyeth not the rape of the constitution..

Second , what has all that what you said to do with Trump being a chest pounding environmental hardcore imbecile and hater..

"Trump will fuck up some things," NO , he will DESTROY democracy..and the chance to planetary recovery..there will be civil war on his watch..and a lot of "culling" and "chipping" constitutional..IMHO

Reminds me of the Bush time..a defender..: oh , he is just a rude cowboy..but look at how tough he is on terrorisme , how save we are..

Trump sort of epitomizes the group think of the business/government raping and pillaging modus operandi, which is simply taken for granted. A dominion thing

It's a good thing the world doesn't depend on you for it's survival, we would have NO chance with a bunch of man babies that don't do any real constructive things or fight any real battles…

I guess ya gotta try to be good at something huh…

Looks like you fools would grow up and act right but that's asking way too much from the insane immature "the world is ending" crowd and all you few troublemakers are going to do is sit around and whine like children…

And when that gets boring they will make up a new fairy tale to bitch about…
