    Here's some "possible-fukushima-anomalies",…

My first tomato has a leg growing out of it,….or, is it an arm?
This is in the greenhouse,….although roomie does feed with tapwater whenever my back's turned! :-(

Someone please tell me why I bother?

Will someone please hold the, "Bang head here" paper up,….about 5'6"???

    Thanks!

Has anyone in the Seattle area (or elsewhere in the PNW) noticed anything different about the pollen "fallout" (for want of a better word…) this Spring?

Last Spring, during the initial Fuku fallout episodes, we had tons of bright yellow pollen (we think it was pollen?) rain down on our cars and yards, etc.

This Spring, the pollen is a strange beige-like color, different from last year's bright yellow color. I just discovered piles of it collected in evaporated rain puddles on a basketball in a local park many of our local kids play in. The piles of pollen are beige, as is the stuff that has continued to fall on our cars over the past couple of weeks. I am hoping it is not radioactive, of course, but I don't have a Geiger Counter, so I have no way of knowing. I wonder if there is a way I could have our local officials test it?
Given so many kids play there, it would be well worth the effort.

I also noticed today that I am once again "shocking" things and people I touch with a static electric charge, something I had noticed I was doing a lot when getting out of my car last Spring and Summer.

Why is it back, this "static electricity" today? Is there something in the wind? It had rained lightly the past couple of days prior to today. Today it has been partly cloudy with "sunbursts." Last weekend and Monday it was sunny and warm.

Just some observations and questions I wanted to share.

The Japanese nuclear meltdown may have reduced New Zealand's muttonbird population.

A study near Auckland has found a third of the birds, also known as sooty shearwater or titi, failed to return this summer after spending the southern winter in their northern hemisphere base near the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant.

Department of Conservation researcher Graeme Taylor says the birds that did return were in a poor condition.

A separate study by Ngai Tahu and Te Papa of 30 chicks from the Ti Ti Islands, near Stewart Island, found no trace of radioactive material – making them safe to eat.

I am in Seattle right now and happened to come across a small vacant lot with three mutated dandelions in it. I took pictures but don't think I am allowed to post them directly on here. I will upload them when I am home and post a link. There may have been more messed up plants in that field, as I only looked for a minute or two.

Was reading up on Chernobyl and found this fascinating piece of information:

"That's because potassium runoff from fertilizers blocks the absorption of cesium-137."

Now if I can find this out, WHY ISN'T IT BEING DONE IN FUKUSHIMA??? They could have put potassium around the reactors in between the shore to block the cesium from running into the ocean!!!

Wow! Good find, Kondy! You've got a good point there…if YOU can dig this up, why can't TEPCO?

Now the question is: would potassium also block the hundreds of other man-made isotopes leaking into the environment from Fukushima?

Probably someone will say "No can do" its pollution!..bet there is an environmental consideration..and since NO RADIATION is running into the oceans per TEPCO..and all in cold shutdown stage (safe RIGHT?).
Sad no one from either Japans government, researchers, or
TEPCO figured out the lessons from Chernobyl..or even READ the lessons learned. Someone did travel to review the health issues..cost $$$ for Japan. All to see what has been written about for years. Radiation is not safe at any level for humans or life on earth…

  • state emergency Whooping cough outbreak strikes Washington state

May 4, 2012 – WASHINGTON – More than 1,100 cases of whooping cough have already been diagnosed this year in Washington State, nearly doubling the number seen in typical “peak” years. Washington State is gearing up for one of the worst epidemics of pertussis in nearly seven decades. Pertussis, also known as whooping cough, is a highly contagious bacterial infection that causes a nasty and often severe cough. It is particularly dangerous for young infants. Public health officials have confirmed more than 1,100 cases of whooping cough so far this year in Washington State. Thankfully, no deaths have been reported from this year’s outbreak but 20 infants have been hospitalized already with the illness. Washington’s governor Christine Gregoire announced yesterday that state emergency …

Not looking for sympathy,….but I want it to not be a surprise when I really fall apart for a spell. My Mama chihuahua is in the death dance for certain. The last two weeks she couldn't potty, so wouldn't eat. Somehow she became a wrack of bones,…she's lost bladder control now for three days. Pee pee pads aren't cutting it,…now there's blood in her urine all over her pillows. She shakes and bobs and weaves,…can't walk, won't try.

I am ready for her to go,…have anointed us both. Deciding if I should have her euthanized,…or die peacefully (hopefully), at home.

Wishing I'd moved earlier,…but she's almost 13,…and developed cancer two months after fuku blew #3!!!!!

She was GASSED last March, April, and May,…to the point of hospitalization x2. Total radiation sickness symptoms,..poo poo'd by vet–"mucoid enteritis". Oh well,….such is life post 3/11!

She'll FINALLY get to be with Ashley Noel again,…they were inseparable! :-)

I still get upset everytime I think of trying to save my best friends (dog, cat, horses, chickens) when they get old and break down.
My herbology ALWAYS utterly fails me when I have had to face leukemia, kidney failure and the like.
I always wish part of me would die with them, but thats just me being selfish and cowardly.
Take care of yourself, when you find time. I nearly lost it(or have I already?) after getting 2hrs a night of sleep for nearly a fortnight while trying to care for an unforgettable, old, handsomely noble cat (leukemia) we took in off the street. Terrible episode, but I'd do it again, and try even HARDER! Mortality sucks.
I suppose we wouldn't try so hard to comfort/save them if they weren't such a defining character in the story of our lives. Love knows no bounds.
When our friends become interwoven into our heart and soul, their departure, for any reason, is heartshattering.

      Hugs all around

yeah, I was trusting the food from Florida over Cali, ID, OR or WA. You seemed to have a fallout respite on the maps, compared to most places!…
Maybe you are having some effects from the BP spill?? That did impact many people's immune systems–I know people from west FL who were wiped out after just a little swimming in the Gulf & eating seafood there. They are now very ill–disabled!
Also, you have to watch the thyroid. I read that FL got a dose of radioiodines early on in the disaster…hopefully, you have supplements for that. If the thyroid takes a hit, it can leave you wide open for anything…

      • What many do not know is that the corexit is still being sprayed in the gulf. Some of it is being sprayed just under the surface.
I got a heavy dose of it two years ago while caught in a rainstorm. I knew it was bad news when the rain burned my skin everywhere I got wet.
There is also the nuclear reactors over in Tampa. They admit leaking tritium. I drink it in the public drinking water.

I felt a plume of something pass over almost four days ago. The air mass changed and a hot dry wind blew. Afterwards I got nausea and the metal taste in my mouth.

I will watch the video and see the clay you recommend andii. And I thank you for caring. That means a great deal to me.

There was a nasty plume that went over the east coast a few days ago, I had flu symptoms and metal taste too. There was an explosion at a chemical plant in Japan that stored depleted uranium, and there was a steam and smoke event at Fuku. I'm not which event caused this, or both of them.

People are really letting their guards down now…a year later..
I saw so many people running around in the rain today with no protection, little kids, women of child-bearing age, babies, pets, everyone…
Who knows if the rain has very elevated contamination exactly–the air seems better minus the Jet Stream lately. But, the head of the Health Dept for the state issued warnings not to drink rainwater in Spring 2011 because of Fukushima, which has not been contained, and Chernobyl was quite a clear warning for us all on the dangers of bad rain!… sigh…it's creepy to see people chance it, willingly!
Has anyone heard anything about the radioactivity of the pollen coming down in Tokyo or the U.S.??? Curious!… thanks, all.

(Just kidding) It was a Washington state apple bought 3 weeks ago by my brother who photographed it and promply ate it!

(OK he knows a lot about Fukuland, but he's OCD and a spendthrift!)

I thought what a cute smile the little apple had to give and how deceptive looks can be. It may have been perfectly non-toxic, but I doubt it.

I'll stick to my Chile apples…bought some more yesterday. Wish I was down there breathing Chile air to tell you the truth.

But I want to take 50 relatives and I don't have those kind of finances. That is the dilemna for so many Japanese. Leaving close relatives behind is not an option for 99%. If they all are asked to evacuate it could happen, but voluntary evacuation is constrained by two things: love for family who can't or won't leave, and lack of money.

we find it all out here, no matter what it is and learn much together.
I know I certainly have as this site progresses. I learn much that I wish I did not know. I share it when I think others are listening. I spoke to a pregnant woman today waiting for a bus, and told her I hoped her baby was born safe and sound. I asked her had she heard about Fukushima and she not much. I proceeded to give her a short explanation, one she seemed to appreciate and listen to on the ongoing madness. I also reached about four others, all waiting on the next bus just like me.
I feel like after a year of following this site, checking the k=links, and watching those videos, someone has to speak out and tell the world what is happening to us all.
Pets are just as important to me as anything else on this tiny blue sphere we all share…

I have had 'it' go well a few times also,…rare,…yet strengthening as hell.

It is VERY good to feel the feelings after someone listens!

I speak occasionally to newer listeners, about a poster here about 8 months ago or so, from Hawaii. I had posted a funky, misspelled piece on, "How to maybe survive Fuku on a shoestring". Well, about three weeks later, a newer poster came on asking if anyone had that particular post, as he hadn't copied it and wished he had. (He explained having a rather large family, and these detox aids are not cheap). My list was the cheaper tools.

Anyway,….when I'm really down,…about no one listening,….I envision one of his daughters or granddaughters dancing healthy on the beach somewhere in Hawaii,…healthier because she is taking baking soda, epsom salt, lugol's iodine, and some cheap PDZ zeolite!

That's my story,….and God said I could stick with it! :-)

Mungo, thanks for posting this. I read the story and it is indeed disturbing.

Here's a comment after the article that describes an old munitions dump in the area which leaked contained chemicals which into some monitoring wells there. How ghastly…wonder if this is the cause of the teens' various rare autoimmune disorders they have developed? How many similar things such as this are happening in our communities??? :-(

      Comment from article:

"In addition to the general sanitation advice, I would think some environmental testing would be in order here. Unless these girls in this limited geographical area have hygiene habits markedly different from the rest of the population of girls in broader areas with similar autoimmune initiating diseases, there might be another factor making them susceptible."

"Quote:Most of them live along the I-10 West corridor between Camp Bullis all the way up to Boerne."

      "Camp Bullis, San Antonio, Texas"

"Quote: In mid-2001 it was reported that an old chemical weapons dump on the installation may pose a threat to the underground Edwards and Trinity aquifers. In 1938 soldiers from the 2nd Infantry Division at Fort Sam Houston buried hundreds of sealed-glass vials containing mustard gas and other chemical weapons in trenches at Camp Bullis. The weapons dump was used in the 1950's, when it was common for the military to bury chemical weapons, after denaturalizing them with Trichloroethene, or TCE…."

…"That TCE has contaminated some monitoring wells at Camp Bullis and could potentially contaminate the aquifers. The landfill was discovered in 1995 when digging equipment at the post unearthed 33 bottles of mustard gas, phosgene, chloropicrin and other incapacitating gases. Recovered Chemical Warfare materiel included 25 Chemical Agent Identification Set (CAIS)."

The 20-year-old Vermilion woman was found dead in her Bowling Green apartment Wednesday from what is believed to be a sudden illness. The cause of death remains unknown, but her mother, Mitzi Mankin, said it appeared she had the flu.

Her daughter had just finished the school year at BGSU and moved to an apartment for the summer. She’d returned home on May 10 and by Saturday she felt a little nauseated. When Mitzi Mankin took her daughter back to her apartment on Monday, she had a low-grade fever. On Tuesday, Mankin went to campus health center and was told it was likely a case of the flu going around. On Wednesday, she was found dead.

The Wood County Coroner’s Office will perform a toxicology test to determine the cause of death, but no apparent reason was visible, Mitzi Mankin said. She said the coroner suspects it might have been a viral infection that reached the heart.

My symptoms have taken a sharp turn for the worse in the past 3 weeks or so. Flu-like symptoms, metal taste, occasional severe pain. I am now having difficulty functioning… the previous bouts have been unpleasant and scary, but this is affecting my ability to work & live.

The proteinuria in urine has gotten much worse, and I am suspecting amyloidosis. This would affect the heart. The pharmaceutical treatments for this are toxic, and with my chemical sensitivity, the treatment might be worse than the disease.

Bobby1, I'm so sorry your health has taken a turn for the worse, lately. Perhaps spending too much time worrying about Fukushima isn't the best thing for your health either? Maybe you should take a break from the forum and spend time nurturing yourself? Just a thought. I'm considering doing this as well, as one's psyche can only take such doom and gloom news so much, for so long…

You can always check back in after some R & R. Who knows? You may just feel rejuvenated enough by the break that you find some "spontaneous healing" happening in your body! :-)

Feel better soon! Healing {{{hugs}}} to you!

My husband's cough is getting worse. Allergy season is over. My asthma is very bad now and my sinuses bleeding slightly.

It could be from the 5 fires that have ranged around us over the last week.

However, that smoke is going to contain incinerated fallout.

My kids seem exhausted but otherwise ok.

Not sure whether they are just tired from school or whether it is the smoke/fallout

I'm so sorry to hear you and your husband haven't been feeling well, Majia. :-( I experienced smoke and ash-filled skies several times when I lived in So. California. I remember feeling tired, too, so that may be why your kids are tired. Do you have HEPA filters in your home?

Seattle actually had several amazingly beautiful sunny days recently, and the air felt pretty clean, until the last day when they started spraying the chemtrails fast and furiously before the new storm front moved in. It has been unseasonably balmy, so I'm hoping it is just due to coming from the South, rather than from the North. Haven't checked the Jet Stream report for awhile, so not sure if that is the cause.

Did you read the latest study from the D.O.E.'s Pacific Northwest Labs, showing that "air pollution" causes thunderheads to form which actually warm the air which could contribute to global warming?

          http://www.pnnl.gov/news/release.aspx?id=925

Wondering if in studying the fallout plumes wafting from Japan, they discovered this new-found phenomenon, which in turn may be causing the strange weather with unseasonable tornadoes in unusual places?

A cold front is supposed to be moving in today on the heels of this warm front storm. Not sure if it will bring Fuku'd rain with it or not…

Yes, I remember reading that report about the hole in the ozone layer. :-( Wondering if the seemingly increased chemtrail spraying post-Fuku is to help add a "protective" layer in our atmosphere to counteract the effects of radiation fallout possibly burning a hole in our ozone? Who knows….

(I say "seemingly" increased, as I only learned about chemtrail spraying after 3/11, so I have no understanding of whether it has indeed increased or if it is at the same level as pre-3/11.)

There is quite a bit of research showing that it has tumor suppressing and neural-regenerative capabilities.

Maybe it can help combat some of the other symptoms of radiation contamination as well.

I also found a study that I posted some time ago about the radiation combating effects of melatonin.

Bobby1, I don't like the spike in proteinuria and amyloidosis. I am so sorry that you are in pain, and it is threatening your ability to work and live. What does your dr. say? A search brought up that fish oil, Curcumin, zinc, Vit D, flaxseed meal, Parthenolide (a compound from Feverfew) and most of all, soy (non-gmo) may be helpful with proteinuria, as you know, most likely. Oh, and shutting down nuclear, @#$%^&. Also, food allergies may make it worse, gluten/wheat and milk/casein are top suspects, etc. and vegetarian/vegan may help. I know that you are already limited food-wise, but I have now turned vegetarian since it helped so much with my post-Fukushima ulcer. I never thought that would happen, but it is not as bad as I thought.

NoNukes, I think the inflammation & other symptoms boil down to my brain not releasing enough dopamine… the immune system damage has screwed up the hormone balance. Treating this on a symptom level is not gonna work, I need to work on the cause.

Bobby1, I am so sorry for your loss of your friend. I can say this for Western medicine, the institutions have been great at training people to wash their hands. That's about all the "something nice" I can say today. What, 80%+ of their treatments are either antibiotics or steroids? Plus, how many are complicit with the nuclear industry? Steroids are so hard to take, they have me wandering the halls at night immediately.

It sounds far more complicated than throwing some Vit D and Curcumin at the problem to fix it, although I wish it would, of course. It is interesting to me that all of those things, with the exception of soy, are also on the list for radiation, we should all probably be taking them anyway, if possible. My thyroid antibody level went from 660 down to 75 when I went off of gluten, so a focus for me, but everyone is different. You deserve all the dopamine that you can handle, Bobby1, and I hope that it improves soon.

The article states boldly that “radium will cure cancer that is readily accessible to treatment with this element.”

According to the article, radium was identified as a cure for cancer when a scientist received a skin burn after pocketing pitchblende.

Radium’s capacity to destroy tissue led to experiments with its applications to tumors.

Radium was also glowingly described in the article as a curative for tuberculosis and for skin rigidities caused by accidents.

Cindy, that is so sad and quite disturbing. Poor little bird. :-( Whatever caused it, it obviously was toxic.

I am concerned about whether the food put into hummingbird feeders is really healthy for the birds. (not saying your food caused it, though, as it would be hard to determine from just watching your video.)

But if you think about it, it is like allowing the bird to "binge" easily on nectar which he usually would have to work to gather himself. So perhaps having so much nectar available to the bird, right in one place may not be healthy for it?

(Kind of like giving a kid sitting in front of the tv a half gallon of ice cream and a spoon. Lack of exercise and easy access to too much food, esp. junk food, is likely a cause of the obesity epidemic in the U.S….though some suspect it's link with diabetes may suggest exposure to radiation, which attacks the thyroid and other organs, might be part of the problem…)

Just my initial reaction after watching the video, since you asked for our thoughts. :-) What do you think?

            Yep, i agree richard.

I am intensely collecting remnant native vegetation from the area and hoping an army of those who have been temporarily distracted by the global warming fad and all those other distractions can prioritise and start with the basics also.

I even have seen a hummingbird pair that now visit since some of the natives from the area i have saved/propagated are nectar producing. The insecticide/herbicide sprayed by the forestry industry remains a big concern here in Australia where i live, to native insects and every kind of animal.

In my opinion Cindy is spot on, and starting by looking in the backyard and later if time permits, looking at the other stuff.

Where i live, the forestry used to be chopping trees and letting everything grow back, not poisoning the forest floor with all its diversity and planting with cloned gums and pines in the name of some mythical/futuristic belief that merely planting clones of trees will prevent extinction by increasing oxygen and changing the weather, good grief.
            :-)

Personally, i think the weather is controlled by the solar cycles and the sun seems to have something to do with all the earthquakes too.

Hmm…i am still thinking about all these things myself, and all i can do is prioritise to the best of my ability.

Gday Cindy, i am looking at agricultural herbicide/pesticide use which seems to be increasing all the time. Before allowing anyone to help you jump to conclusions immediately about fukushima, make sure you see what kind of agriculture is happening in your area.

Pesticides do exactly what you describe.

      For instance in Australia:

"Many of these birds are dependent on nectar and blossom from the older trees. Young trees are very poor providers of blossom and nectar. If too many of the older trees are removed to extend plantations, and plantations have a short rotation time of 25 to 30 years, this will drastically reduce the availability of nectar and blossoms for these birds."

No harm ever seemed to come to them. Recently those birds are hard to find, hang out in much fewer numbers than years previous. A few a day, never more than that at any one time. The birds used to scrap/play fight over it in the air waiting their turn. Something has caused terrible harm to our wildlife…the earth and us! Hi Cindy, It is so sweet of you (literally and figuratively speaking!) ;-) to care about your local birds. I could spend hours just watching birds. They bring such joy to our lives. It is something my mother taught me. She always had a backyard full of birds. She fed them too, and they loved her and her backyard. :-)

Speaking of sugar, did you read the latest study which says it is a toxin in our bodies? I just wonder if it is healthy for birds, even diluted with water? It is not the natural nectar from flowers that their bodies have adapted to eating. See my point?

Also, since Fuku, I question everything. So for example, we know that Hawaii was hammered pretty hard with some of the highest levels of Fuku fallout, even higher than Oregon and Washington and California. So I wonder what this has done to the sugar crop there, as I believe much of our sugar comes from Hawaii? If sugar was already bad for us, how much worse is it now, should the fallout have effected it?

Sigh…I guess sometimes I think and question just a bit too much…

Has it gotten harder to get a prescription for Vicodin?

I have never used pharmaceuticals, not even aspirin, etc., but my back problems have gotten progressively more painful, and the only thing that works to cut the pain (not totally get rid of it; nothing does that, at least nothing I have tried)is Vicodin, and I have been refused a prescription for it by a couple of doctors (have not gone to many doctors, chiros, etc. but none of them has helped). I am amazed that I can be in so much pain and yet they will not prescribe the only thing that works. I have gotten some from a friend, who has long-standing pain problems and a doctor who does prescribe for him. I don't like leaning on my friend all the time, and the pain has gotten so bad that I really can't handle it.

I could have fibromyalgia, I could have a tumor in my chest (X ray showed a possible 'mass'), and/or the pain could be bone pain as there are some problems there, some degeneration. Have not dragged myself to the doctor for more tests etc. esp. not more radiation-exposure tests like CAT scan or magnetic resonance imaging.

I read a comment on enenews, just today I think it was, that obliquely referred to its being difficult to get the pain meds that actually work prescribed for one, and so I am just trying to find out more.

It seems strange that a 68 y.o. woman, formerly in good health and with no history of substance abuse is being refused much needed pain med. prescriptions.

After a lifetime avoiding drugs, because I didn't want to develop a problem, I have come to appreciate the charms of opiates, at least the one kind I have tried. MJ has this existential edge for me, as if I am staring life in the face a bit too nakedly and what I see is a bit unsettling; speed is fine if you want to be speedy, but usually I don't; but the Vicodin just gives me a subtle warm, relaxed, happy feeling – a really 'all's right with the world' feeling – as well as getting rid of the GD PAIN! in my back! for a while!

I did get some kava and tried that tonight. It made me feel sedated, sort of dulled. Not a great feeling, but better than anxiety. I might imbibe some before going to the doctor to be told that I have lung cancer…

LOL! Seriously! I am AARP & that pic was taken 2 yrs ago… I still get carded occasionally to the SHOCK of my 24 & 22 yr olds!
I agree with you.. I really hate having my "reality" shifted or changed due to artificial substances. I was able to try Kava a year ago…made me Super Tired but was a nice numb!
I am SO sorry about your worries and horrible pain.. I too used to be, up until 18 months ago, a literally "Spring out of Bed" sortta person..now I can barely get out of bed without screaming and crying. My Fiance was sweet enough to buy me a TempurPedic..and it's really helped at night, but somedays..NOTHING helps. I pray you find some kind of relief.
And then all of THIS FUKU crap Happens! GEEZ!!!

try rumafan you can get it on ebay, it is only spices and herbs from mex and india. cucucum is the main ing. i had such pain from rheuma arthritis. every move i made for a couple of years was painful. then, within an hour of taking one pill, i was able to take steps two at a time. unbelievable. i take one a day and i am fine. if i forget, i ll start to get the pain back, but if i just maintain one a day, i am 17 again. it has been very good for me. maybe it would help you. it is over the counter. i get mine out of mexico. but have seen them on ebay. there is a plus or plus premium. i see no difference and tried both. about 25 bucks for thirty pills.

ironysteele, I will try the Rumafan if I can find it. do you mean cucucum or cucumin ? Anyway, I wrote it down. Rumafan.Ebay.

This is a whole new world for me that I wish I had not learned existed. Argh. But I appreciate all of the suggestions; and it just helps to see that I am not alone. I have felt kind of picked on by fate or something – the usual 'why me'?

Now I am imagining all sorts of scenarios involving people in pain with no pain meds, like in olden times and etc. And animals, too. It makes me wonder what kind of world it actually is, with so much suffering built into it. I've had a hard enough time dealing with the arrogance, evil, and stupidity – now this – suffering – endless, undeserved suffering.

@bleep. Sorry to hear of your back problem and pain. I'm not at all aware of most things medical, so I can't offer a lot.

A girlfriend of mine has arthritis and recieves an injection about once a month to reduce inflammation (and pain) as I'm aware. But I am trully hopeless at the medicinal names. Maybe it's an approach you can take. I'll contact my friend and see what she's using, will get back to you.

(ps, my email is buried in this site, not sure if you saw it, but i'd be happy to have an 'offsite' chat with you if you wish).

Richard, If you would give your e/m address again, that would be nice. Needless to say, I won't give it to anyone else.

I am really desperate with this pain problem. I've never had anything like it before. It sounds melodramatic but the truth is I really can't go on like this.

I believe that my health problems are due to Fukushima – both the resulting depression, and then this back problem which manifested a few months after 3/11 and has grown progressively worse; I have other symptoms as well and seem to be quite seriously ill.

I'm very philosophical about dying soon – I've lost my enthusiasm for life, am totally discouraged about this world of ours – or rather, its human controllers and what they have made of it – but being in so much pain is intolerable. It just amazes me that the doctors won't prescribe Vicodin even when so very much needed, and then I read that passing comment here on enenews today about there being a reluctance to prescribe it even when obviously needed.

There are actually some countries, like Thailand, in which many of these prescription drugs are available o.t.c. A friend of mine lives in Thailand, but he tried to send something to a friend in the USA and the men in suits showed up at his (the friend's) door. Govt. seems vigilant about all the wrong things for all the wrong reasons.

ok, it's called cortisone. like i say, i am certainly no doctor, so please consult with you own doctor. (end of disclaimer rant :) )

you've probably already heard of these steroid based medications.

"Steroids (short for corticosteroids) are synthetic drugs that closely resemble cortisol, a hormone that your body produces naturally. Steroids work by decreasing inflammation and reducing the activity of the immune system. They are used to treat a variety of inflammatory diseases and conditions"

Thanks, Richard – I've heard of cortisone (and that it is not that good for us – in fact some bad stories are coming back to me). Anyway, I have a feeling it would not work for me. I don't think inflammation is my problem.

Anyway, thanks for taking an interest.

It's ironic that one so adamantly opposed to pharmaceuticals and Big Pharma should have done such a turn-around. Kind of what they call a 'comeuppance,' I guess. I have just never had any problems with serious pain before. It has opened my mind to how much suffering there is and has been in the world – before there were pharmaceutical drugs, and also animals, wounded, etc.

i'm naive on these medical things, i've been fortunate. and no silver bullet i suppose.

Don't go for any injections bleep, I have similar issues with the back and neck with over 6 surgical procedures including fusion with hardware in neck and lower back. The only thing that works for me is Avinza, timed release morphine. I have used all the pain meds the docs got and all have seriouse side effects causing harm to the liver and other internal organs. Nearly impossible to function on most of them, I have no head rush feeling or high at all, in fact this medication has had the least effect on my well being than the others. I know morphine sounds terrible, but pain is deadly serious stuff. A little MJ works wonders for any breakthrough pains. These herbs/flowers were put here for a reason, just saying.

Tumrgrwer, & Cindy, thanks so much for the replies. I have gotten to the point of desperation – literally. The pain has gotten gradually worse, over several months, and at this point if I don't have a pain med that works (I am totally dependent on a friend who manages to get me some) I am going to be thinking seriously about suicide because it is just impossible to want to stay alive if you are in bad pain all or almost all of the time, day & night. (This is a totally new experience for me, btw.)

When not in pain, I am OK – have low energy, & pain still comes if I try to be active at all even for short periods, but I don't mind being a 'couch potato' & I have a kind neighbor (my angel, I call her) who helps me with shopping & errands.

Do you think I would have better luck getting a prescription for Avinza? There is this unwillingness to prescribe Vicodin, which does work for me – is the only thing I have found that does knock out the pain. (I am wondering about Kava (?) – might it help?)

I know these drugs are toxic to the liver, but bottom line is the pain is unbearable & even if it shortens my life due to liver damage, I must find a way to relieve the pain.

RE MJ, I have tried it; it does not knock out the pain noticeably at all. I have noticed no pain relief to speak of when I take it. Also, although in the past I have used it recreationally, now I really don't like the doped, sedated, slowed-down way it makes me feel.

Did you know there are TWO kinds of MJ? Sativa and Indica. The Indica will make you Tired and sleepy. The Sativa will give you a Buzzy energetic feel. I never knew this until a friend who has a MJ Medical Card told me this. So….if you were thinking of giving it another try…try to find the Sativa. It's a little harder to grow, hence it's a little harder to find. Sativa grows to over 15 feet! Anyone can grow Indica..even in a closet! Haa-haa!

Thanks for this AGR, have tried so many things it makes my head swim. If one wants to be nearly free of pain and have a somewhat clear head, it's best to go natural. If that doesnt' work one has to do what one has to do to get out of pain. Spleenectomy, 5 metatarsals removed from R foot, R knee dislocated, 5 lower back procedures culminating in ss implants, 3 level fusion of neck with titanium, 4 shoulder surgeries, resection of pancreas tumor, resection of R lung tumor, resection of liver and kidney tumor and and the list goes on. Sorry to bore, but when it comes to pain…there are no magic remedies. What works for some may make others sick.

Bleep, please keep your head up, please, please help keep us informed.

Tumrgrwer, wow, you have been through SO much! See, that is what I can't & won't do. I don't like doctors & hospitals. It's not really a heart-pounding phobia, but it tends to keep me out of doctors' offices & hospitals.

You weren't boring at all – thanks for sharing what you have been through.

AGRoad – I am pretty sure none of the things you mention would touch this pain. It is so bad that even the Vicodin won't touch it when I try to get up & move around – do a bit of housework, try to ride my bike a couple blocks to the store, & pain returns.

So thanks AGR & Cindy for your suggestions, but this is a heavy- duty kind of situation I've got going & these more natural pain relievers just don't impact it at all – in fact I am 'getting my affairs in order' in terms of leaving what I have to my son, etc. because I think I am seriously ill.

At this point I'm OK with that & pretty much 'prepared to meet my Maker' – more prepared to do that than go thru what you, Tumrgrwer, have been thru with the medical establishment – but am not in a hurry to exit this plane of existence – as long as I can control the pain. What I want to do is take pain meds & continue with my life for as long as it lasts (which I don't think is going to be very long, whether I do or don't go see a doctor).

Frankly, the rad. poisoning of the globe & of me personally (age 68), has been/continues to be such that I think my prognosis is not good.(I live in Hawaii).

bleep in Hawaii, let me have a couple doctors names and maybe I can get my pain specialist to help me get him some imformation about pain and the results. Without this medicine, (Avinza), I would be a goner long before now. It works wonders and who cares if we get hooked, the big pharmas have been trying to do that to all of us anyway. At our age, your 10 years older sir, we should not have do deal with doctors worrying about people like us selling our medicne on the street to make ends meet instead of taking it. That is their big concern you know, selling it and getting someone dead. The Avinza is very expensive, I can only aford it due to a settlement with an insurance company and I should be able to get it for life. Oxy contin is no good,It never seemed to work on the pain, just makes you high as a kite, in my opinion, nearly killed me trying to get off the crap. It is very addictive, ungodly addictive nothing like coming down from the real morphine stuff. If nothing else try MS contin, it's a timed released tab also but shorter duration than the Avinza but doesn't cost nearly as much. My daughter is flying over next month for a quick vacation, hope she dosen't get to radiated cause she won't listen to pops.

One strategy in war is to combine forces and powers into a holistic program, addressing multiple items and multiple layers; physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, etc.

Trying one thing at a time is a recipe for failure.

It is like an army that is up against a superior force of men, and all of them are attacking. Playing defense just does not work.

Sometimes one has to call in reinforcements and call up the allies and go at 'the enemy' with a lot of things, all at the same time.

Each thing matters, but the holistic picture is what makes the difference.

Start small, and keep adding on modalities until success appears.

The tide of battle can turn on the smallest of things, once the balance of powers is reached.

There is always hope. Never give up.

  • At the end of last summer (2011) I reported here about dieing birds, sickly/runt cats and an apparent increase in snakes. I live in the Sierra Mountain Foothills of Central California.

Now (2012) at the beginning of summer the number of snakes has yet again increased in my opinion.

I am not a biologist nor an animal researcher. But I do have a keen ability to observe and I would say there is no doubt that a MAJOR uptick in the snake population is apparent. Crushed snakes are literally littering the roads.

My basic theory would be that dieing birds and rodents or aborted births add to the snake population's diet. Thus adding, at least for now, to the overall increase in the number of snakes.

Thanks to all of you for your thoughts & suggestions & good wishes. I've been into natural foods most of my adult life, avoided Big Pharma and their drugs that always have harmful side-effects. In fact I've been a bit preachy about it, self-righteous, the whole trip.

But now they are what stand between me and 24-hour-a-day misery.

I've learned some new names – Avinza, Oxycontin, Vicodin – learned I need something for 'moderate to severe pain'… but no one will prescribe them for me.

Really what difference does it make at my age and declining health if I do get hooked?

    I don't get it.

Anyway, thanks for the information, and for telling your stories, and for the kind words and sympathy. When you're hurting, kind words really do help.
