Sick pets in two parts of the world, starting in November, 2011. My cat developed a serious breathing problem; a dog in Los Angeles had similar problems. My cat was operated on in December for what was supposed to be a polyp (not uncommon in cats). Hers was deformed, highly inflamed, misshapen, resembling a small eggplant, and required major surgery. The cat has, so far, survived. No one knows what causes these problems but onset was very sudden.
The dog was taken to Seattle in August 2011 when I believe radiation readings were quite high there. He died in early 2012 of pulmonary fibrosis. I think that there should be a separate thread for sick pets, since they are smaller, closer to the ground, and are perhaps providing us with a grim hint of what is to come?

  • milk and cheese milk and cheese

The dog ran around outside, as dogs do. My cat lives indoors and breathes filtered air and drinks filtered water. She has been in Canada since 2008 and has had two serious health problems since then. Perhaps our relative nearness to three reactors might be contributing to her problems (cancer and the ‘polyp’?)

  • StillJill StillJill

On pets—I posted somewhere that one of my two dogs WILL NOT potty inside,…so she’s got me ‘out in it’ twice a day. Lately it is rain she has me out in. Since the rain came two days ago,..she is SICK AS A DOG! (No pun intended). She is not the same dog she was three days ago. I don’t know what to do to un-break her!
She does this pathetic, “Mommy, I have to go poo poo dance”, for hours–wears me the hell down.
I’d die for this dog,…12+, soul of God inside,…truly!

  • REMEMBER, … You are Expendable ! so relax !

  • StillJill StillJill

Yes, you are right xdrfox. I got new nasal sores from just going out three or four times this past rain. I am too fragile to play fast and loose, darn it! “Gordita” will just have to learn to poop on papers! (Man, this is an upside down world we now live in, eh?)

    • jec jec

@stilljill, on pups and boxes, they will go -but it takes until they pop..15 hours usually. I do have dogs, and puppies..and train them. So..give them a peepad/box(if box of dirt.see if you can put in old pee/poo for the smell)..and make them use it. Noisy, you feel guilty, but the dogs will not die and you wont if you can stay out of the rain and radiation as much as possible. How big are your dogs?

      • StillJill StillJill

Great ideas jec, and milk and cheese–I thank you.
They are both chihuahuas–Momma is 8#’s, daughter is 3.5#’s
I have a large, tub lid that would work well. I also have pee pee pads, the younger uses,…will ‘decoy’ the deal-e-o!

Really, they won’t blow up? “Gordita” swears she will! 🙂

    • StillJill,
That must hurt ! Ouch !

  • milk and cheese milk and cheese

StillJill, where are you located? It sounds as if you are in a ‘hot spot’…is there any chance you can move?
As for the dog…if you get a large catbox or plastic blanket storage box, fill it with earth, and introduce the dog to it, she will probably use it.

wow, there’s a lot of snow fallout coming down lately! 🙁 At least the SW coast does not get much snow!

When we’ve had snow out here, I’ve noticed “something,” and the pressure or atmospheric weight clears after the snow stops…?

Is this all really the end of the world as we know it? I have faith in my future, but the science does not look promising…

And it’s all happening so quietly…

I wish we would know wether these were xenon clouds tearing up the place, like I believe the Joplin tornados were. January tornados, nuclear winter, thanks people.

  • StillJill StillJill

    Absolutely CB,…on the Joplin tornadoes!

  • CB CB

Sad… anyway I found this link through Dr. Caldicotts twitter.

At 8min. 37sec. into video the President Eisenhower picks up a radioactive element and lights a light bulb.

  • StillJill StillJill

I don’t really know what thread to call this,….while taring paper to start the fire, I saw a cover story about a resident in my town who was murdered, his son going into custody peacefully yesterday. I know the family well. My youngest son is best friends with a younger child, not the boy who killed the dad. I know, excuse me, KNEW the Dad. This family was never in any trouble,…although they drank a lot. Crazy brains man,……zombie food? Isotope water? Who knows. But, a 32 year old boy just turned himself in for killing his own Father. This has upset me greatly,…like a flash in the pan,….of things to come.

  • CB CB

OK, call me nuts because I am. But I’m going to post this link to best describe the experience I had today and yesterday. Flashing white dots for less than a second in my eyes.
    NASA Science, Science News.
“Astronauts aboard Skylab, the Shuttle, Mir, and the International Space Station have all reported seeing these flashes. No need to call Agents Mulder and Scully of The X Files, though: what the astronauts are experiencing is space radiation zipping through their eyes like subatomic bullets. When a “bullet” strikes the retina, it triggers a false signal that the brain interprets as a flash of light.”

I’m not convinced it’s related, but with the solar storms happening, it’s plausible.

    • StillJill StillJill

I thought I saw it too yesterday. I thought it might be ‘focal blindness’ from my epilepsy. I never had a seizure, so it was not focal blindness.

You are not crazy CB,…errr, well,…scratch that,…I’m not the best witness for sanity these days my friend! But, you’re NOT ALONE,…how’s that? 🙂

    • Bobby1

I’m getting flashes and floaters in my right eye. It is possible that it signals retinal detachment.

      • GoFrodo

My eye problems have gotten worse too. I forgot what problems it meant, but it sounded serious – it’s on a scrap of paper around here somewhere. It’s too much to keep track of, so far, for me. In between the days that I’m incapacitated from my symptoms – nauseous and dizzy, or, in the early days, forced to sleep for hours after the contaminated food.

One thing is that after certain foods, I get like pressure and a weird feeling around my eyes right away, and in general more eye pain.

  • StillJill StillJill

I feel loopy as crap,…like I’m living inside a paint can.
We keep having rain that’s not rain. Is anyone else seeing this? No call for rain two days in a row,…but ‘something’ BOILS up and pours on us.
My dog is sick again, and she has sores in her mouth again preventing her from eating! 🙁

    • GoFrodo

I think a lot of people (and animals) are going to have dental and mouth problems from contaminated water, drinks, and food simply passing over their teeth, gums, and lining of the mouth. I’ve had new problems, myself, and am working on it.

We’ll also be more vulnerable to fungal infections, which are too often overlooked in many diseases. So probiotics may help too, if that’s the case (even brushing a runny acidophilus paste over the skin or mouth).

Not that your dog has fungal sores.

All these animals who have to go outside and walk in the snow and rain. 🙁

I haven’t followed your posts, but do you give her anything? I imagine you already do. I am also sure there must be homeopathy that can help with some of this. Other energy healing will help too, if you are into that or open to it.

      • StillJill StillJill

I am totally into that GoFrodo! 🙂

I give her zeolite, bentonite clay, essiac tea, apple pectin, and marijuana tincture. She is a scabby naked chicken,…poor darned thing! Sweet as the day is long. Wouldn’t say shit if she had a mouthful. No suffering here,…I’ll not allow it!
When it’s time,…I will medicate her for comfort and either take her in,.or let nature take it’s course. Fight it though!

        Thanks for asking friend!

        • GoFrodo

Oh, ok, cool! We have a variety of beliefs here. (I’m all for prayer too, whatever one’s persuasion.)

I see you are doing a lot. I just hate to see animals suffer (don’t we all).

I agree we can each do what we can, and then it might be good to let go.

January report of Fukushima radioactive contamination symptoms research:

The most obvious characteristic in this month’s report, which marks the ninth month since the occurrence of the Fukushima nuclear accident, is the expansion of the range of reported cases to include more areas to the east and the west. Newly added areas include eastern Honshu, Iwate, Fukui which is on the Sea of Japan side in the middle of Honshu, Tottori, Yamaguchi which is on the west of Honshu, and Nagasaki and Fukuoka in Kyushu.

Based on the content of the case reports, Iwate seems to be seriously contaminated. Two of the cases reported show that they came to stay in Iwate from other prefectures for nine days and two days, respectively. A woman who walked around the debris for nine days doing volunteer work later developed bronchitis, back pain, and menstrual irregularity. Another woman who similarly did outside activities for 2 days, sitting in a folding chair on the grass in the park or on the concrete, developed diarrhea, paresthesia in hands, bruises, and hair loss. Also those living in Iwate have reported such symptoms as lymphadenitis, tongue paresthesia, metallic taste, fatigue, urticaria, chest pain, worsening of allergies, and swelling…

The highest number of symptoms was at 13% in the general systemic category with fatigue, fever and drowsiness and at 10.1% in the skin category with eczema and bruises. This was followed by 8.2% each in the throat and respiratory categories with cough, sputum and breathing difficulty, 7.9 % in the cardiovascular category with chest pain, heart pain and palpitations, 6% in the nose category with epistaxis and rhinorrhea, and 5.7% in the eye category with a decrease in visual acuity, dark circles under eyes, bloodshot eyes, and eye pain.

    • Bobby1

Here is the main website of Everybody’s medical record: Fukushima radioactive contamination symptoms research:

They say it is based in the US & is open to anyone in the world suffering from Fuku radiation. It’s simply a list of symptoms each person enters. Maybe someone should email them and ask them if it is OK to post in English.

      • GoFrodo

I heard back from them yesterday or so, and they said they are working on the English functionality and will get back to me hopefully within a week.

        • Bobby1

Thanks, that’s good news, English speakers around the world would have an opportunity to get their voices heard about their health problems too.

    • GoFrodo

I didn’t know about this FRCSR site. I have to submit my info. I have symptoms in most of those categories, and am realizing my rashes may not be from what I thought they were, but eczema from radiation. 🙁 Some of it is just like eczema and started after Fukushima before most of my other symptoms.

  • I am going to put this here, this new desease ? was found last August, in sheep, said to be a it has since spread to goats and now found in cattle in the UK, it is in Sweden, Netherlands, Holland, Finland, Germany were first found, In livestock the virus predominantly affects breeding. Infected animals give birth to deformed young which are either stillborn or die shortly after birth. In Germany, as many as one quarter of all newborns at infected farms are deformed. … the culprit is said to be a midges, a form of a nat that carries the desease !

St. Ignatius High School in San Francisco has closed its doors because of violent illness in hundreds of students. The call it a stomach flu, but over three hundred students have been violently ill, with sudden onset, even walking down the hallways, in a matter of days. This is incredibly fast moving, virulent phenomenon.

What none of the news stories mention are students also have internal infections in joints. Doctors can’t identify it. If you see any signs of unusual, sudden joint pain in yourself or your loved ones (w/out any “stomach flu”), don’t dismiss it.

    • GoFrodo

Reminds me of the other sudden ‘illness’ in the high school students on the East coast as reported on Fukushima Diary.

More important than ever to keep the immune system strong, and pursue aggressive detoxification.

If you need more info. on heavy metals detoxing than you can find here, any Yahoo group discussing heavy metals detoxification can provide helpful information.

Several very damaging radioactive isotopes compete in the body for cations such as Calcium, Magnesium, etc.

Lyme patients are unable to detoxify their bodies from things like mercury, so we must aggressively pursue heavy metals chelation and supplementation.

Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt has a very good heavy metals chelation protocol (mercury) on his website. Note: this protocol doesn’t include use of pharmaceutical agents, such as EDTA. is the new Calif. Lyme Disease Assoc. website. They have become a nationwide patient advocacy organization. Their Yahoo Group has LOTS of great info. on detoxification and heavy metals chelation techniques. You can join even if you don’t have Lyme.

Please, as a courtesy, if you do join, try to stay on topic. ‘Can’t address whether or not the group would be open to discussing radiation effects. They may or may not be …. Nonetheless, great info. there.

      • GoFrodo

You probably know that if you still have amalgam fillings, though, heavy metal chelation is more complicated and possibly even not recommended. And anyone with fungal illness may have a complicated time, too, as there may be an interrelationship there. And other factors can cause mercury (and other heavy metals?) to get moved into the brain from the chelation process.

It can be so dangerous, so forums like the one you posted (Lyme information is an excellent resource to remind us of) or others, like some that are popular with the autism spectrum groups, might be helpful. Or a professional consultation, if a person has access.

This radiation contamination only adds another layer of complexity to an already complex set of health challenges a lot of people are facing. For some, especially without the luxury of internet, supplements, free-thinking doctors, and specialist professionals, and the functioning required to put it all together while under cognitive strain from radiation, there is no easy answer. It’s just going to be hard to witness.

        • GoFrodo

Not to mention, the methylation and histamine status issues connected with chelation, especially in autism spectrum cases.

          • HoTaters HoTaters

Had the amalgams out five years ago. Did the Klinghardt protocol for three weeks prior, and three weeks afterward.

I wonder if it’s strontium building up in their bones, (joints),…or cesium in the muscle areas around bones and ligaments? Or, one of the ‘daughter products’ “WE” know almost virtually nothing about. Not to mention synergistic effects!

  • StillJill StillJill

    And,…what IS a flu?
Is it not the body’s reaction to an irritant, or foreign invader?

I’m unsure if related but something I’ve noticed. Last January in SE Pennsylvania there were several warm days. Along with that the trees and plants and birds began acting like it was Spring. This week has been the same with temperatures reaching 65 just yesterday; however, zero sign of Spring. No birdies except seagulls, no animal activity and everything is brown and nothing smells.

I’m sorry, Bobby1, I hope that you find a helpful doctor. Please keep us posted.

      • Bobby1

        Thanks, NoNukes.

“Several factors can promote the formation of cataracts, including long-term exposure to ultraviolet light, exposure to ionising radiation, secondary effects of diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and advanced age, or trauma (possibly much earlier); they are usually a result of denaturation of lens protein.”

    • Bobby1

Even the bogus ICRP radiation risk model acknowledges that eye damage from radiation has been underestimated:

“Till now, the lens of the eye was considered to be a moderately radiation sensitive tissue in the body. But several new scientific studies show that it is among the most sensitive tissues, said Dr KS Parthasarathy, Raja Ramanna Fellow of the department of atomic rnergy and former secretary of Atomic Energy Regulatory Board.

Recently, the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) reduced the safe dose limit for the lens of the eye to 20mSv (millisievert) a year, averaged over five years, with no single year exceeding 50 mSv, Parthasarathy told PTI today.

“The earlier dose limit was 150mSv a year,” he said.”

This is a followup to previous posts. In November, I ate some Danish deli ham, and my thyroid swelled up pretty bad. I attributed this to the presence of iodine-131 in the ham.

I put it in the freezer and let it decay. Iodine-131 has a half-life of 8 days, and in 80 days it should decay away completely. Yesterday, I defrosted it, and today I ate a sandwich made from it.

My thyroid swelled up again. Much less than in November, but it’s still there.

That could only mean that there is iodine-129 in the ham. I-129 has a half-life of 15.7 million years. So I would have to let it sit in the freezer for 157 million years before it decayed.

The veggies here in Cali. are HOT, HOT, Hot!
I ate some brussel sprouts five days ago,…and I’m sick still.
Also,…one of my cancer cure protocols, the ‘Budwig protocol’ calls for cottage cheese as a fat agent to break down into the cell level with the flax oil. I cut that out two days ago to see if it was where the cesium? is coming from. It may be, as I am marginally better.

Funny how old food looks so much better now,…stored that is. My roommate was a ‘militia’ type about 5 years ago,…has three huge closets stocked full of canned goods, etc,…many are foods that a cancer patient can’t eat,…BUT,… sure looks more valuable now–post 311 food! 🙂

Wow 5 days. That’s worse than my 3 days of nausea and dizziness.

At least you confirm the veg is hot. I fully believe it’s across the country. I know it’s not just California. California may have a little more, though not sure how much since we aren’t getting testing figures.

We already knew it was in the rainwater and drinking water in places across the country. It makes sense it’d be in other foods across the country, all the way to the Midwest and East Coast.

  • bleep_hits_blades

Bobby1,It’s best to avoid ALL dairy products I believe. Avoid all animal products, avoid leafy greens, eat root crops. Entire food supply is getting contaminated, as we know.

So I’ll list my symptoms which, I fear, are due to radiation poisoning. I’m in late 60s, live on Oahu, & was pretty healthy due to mostly vegan diet (no meat, eggs, fish, etc.,only a little raw goat cheese). Ate organic foods when affordable.

My health has really deteriorated since Fuk. (I am in that very young/elderly risk demographic.)

    1. Worst problem is back pain in upper back, on thoracic spine & off to right side, shoulder-blade area. It has gotten worse & turned me into a quasi-invalid, as only when propped in bed with pillows am I relatively free of pain. I think my bones were low on calcium & have picked up STRONTIUM. (It is also possible that this is not related to Fuk., of course. But my hunch is that it is related, perhaps due to low calcium in bones, & strontium being deposited there.)

    2. Persistent cough. Comes from tickle in throat but sounds kind of deep. Can go on & on for a while. Taking something to lubricate my throat, like honey or even water, seems to help make it go away. I have had this since shortly after 3/11. I don’t cough a lot but have had this cough almost a year, & before Fuk. I’d had no cough or cold for decades. BTW for a while after Fuk. I had a mild sore throat, another thing I hadn’t had for over 20 years.

    3. Anxiety, depression, to which I am prone, but Fukushima made much, much worse.

    4. Lower energy & stamina, like when riding my bike. Partially due to just not exercising as much as I used to, & getting out of shape.

    5. Low appetite & weight loss. Have lost at least 10 lbs. I was a bit overweight so am not gaunt but am at my lowest weight ever since high school. (elderly do tend to lose weight gradually, so maybe that is part of it.)

    6. I feel a little nauseated if I eat too much, & not very much can be ‘too much.’

    • GoFrodo

No, the root crops have had time to absorb the radiation, now. Someone said on here, but I didn’t pay much attention (though I don’t really eat veg anyway).

I get ill from some potatoes now. I know it’s gotten in the potatoes (and likely other root crops, remember the report that root crops take in 6 times as much cesium as others?). Common fast food french fries don’t make me ill. I think, as Chernobyl studies showed, the deep frying must remove a lot of the radionuclides.

I mean, eat what you want. But I’m convinced it’s in the root crops. Others said it before I did, but I experienced it for myself.

    • Bobby1

bleep_hits_blades, there are two ways that crops get contaminated. The first is by radionuclides falling on them in the air, or from getting rained on. This is what causes the green leafy vegetables to get contaminated. I can verify that in March through May these were radioactive. Later, as the soil gets contaminated, root crops absorb the most radiation from the soil. Whether green vegetables or root vegetables are better depends on whether the soil is already contaminated, or if hot rain was falling on them. It might be both.

I am very familiar with the shoulder blade area pain. It’s on the right side for me too, have had it for years. I am convinced it is caused by toxics, and not necessarily just radioactive ones.

Fatigue, anxiety, depression, weight loss, nausea and gastric problems are all caused by radioactive toxics. But conventional toxics like heavy metals and volatile organic chemicals can cause all these too. Radiation causes symptoms of ordinary poisoning, but in addition other symptoms too. In my case, my immune system was already compromised, and the exposure made it worse. So I am more sensitive to both kinds of toxics than I was before.

Abstaining from most American food has cleared some of the symptoms up. I lost 30 pounds after Fuku, but I needed to lose it. So now I am carrying less weight to bother my back and joints. The dermal exposure to the skin and eyes is what is getting to me now. It’s hard to avoid. The psoriasis has never been near this bad before, plus my eyes are now screwed up.

      • GoFrodo

@ Bobby1, can’t shoulder blade pain be gallbladder?

Rutin can be helpful for the small blood vessels the cesium is damaging. Noticeably so for some skin inflammations and such. But I think it can worsen vasoconstriction if that is a problem, so caution as usual. Blood vessel issues can get complicated.

Also eyebright herb. Just an idea, you all probably know all this. I can’t stand to hear about people’s health problems without thinking of ways to help. 🙂

Please consider screening to rule out a thoracic aneurysm unless you’re SURE you don’t have one. You might want to check the symptoms list for a thoracic aneurysm just to make sure. I hope you’ll feel better soon.

I’ve had issues, too, for the past week. Starting last Friday, had two days when got violently ill in the mid-morning. Severe abdominal cramping, nausea, and vomiting.

Today have severe abdominal cramping again. Am not consuming any more milk from CA, or dairy products from here. Am eating pre-Fukushima cheese; and won’t purchase any produced from 3/11 onward. Back to powdered milk from pre-3-11, or milk from Kalona Dairy in Ohio.

Taking activated charcoal relieves the intense cramping after about 10 minutes. Can’t think of any food in particular that would cause this, although have been drinking a little milk that is probably produced in the SF Bay Area.

Am disgusted with local milk producers as I’ve sent them info. on UC Berkeley milk testing results, & info. on zeolite and sodium borate as feed additives. Am either ignored or they’ll tell me something like they tested for radiation once and didn’t find any, so they’re no longer testing. Or they’ll tell me the organic producers won’t use feed additives because they’d risk losing their organic cert. So much inertia. Am losing respect for some of these people.

Also had a really nasty headcold that developed about the same time as the gastric distress. Am going to pay much more attention to what I’m eating. Am taking pectin daily, and zeolite.

Nausea/vomiting may have been initially triggered by accidentally taking twice as much of an herbal remedy for radiation and chemtrail fallout as intended. The next day the vomiting ensued. It may have been a bodily reaction to throwing off a lot of toxins. Just makes me wonder ….

Haven’t had the nausea and vomiting before, or diarrhea.

Taking heed to everyone’s comments here.

Definitely have more fatigue when the jet stream is overhead, or when it’s raining. Haven’t taken rad measurements in about a week. It’s very cloudy and close to raining today, so it would be a good time to take some new readings to post at Monitoring forum.

  • bleep_hits_blades

Well, I am at a loss what is best to eat, and not to eat. (It does seem wise to avoid animal products, as animal bodies are ‘bio-accumulators’.)

We are still getting plenty of radionuclides in the air, I believe – correct? The release of radionuclides is ongoing, as I understand it, and will be for a very long time.

As time passes, and the nuclear ‘fallout’ continues to be spewed into the air (plus from the burning of nuclear waste by Japan, which lofts the radionuclides in the smoke) our food is just going to get more and more contaminated – right?

    • Bobby1

Yes, the radionuclides will keep accumulating in the soil, and they will keep accumulating in us too. They will continue to spread radioactively and chemically contaminated sewage sludge on the farmland.

The 2012 harvest will be worse than the 2011 one. I don’t know any way out except to consume food that was produced as far away from Fuku as possible, or was grown indoors or in a greenhouse.

    • GoFrodo

I personally feel not all the meat is at all or very contaminated yet, because of the fact that I can still eat a lot of it (as long as it’s not chicken). I did get sick from ground beef once. White rice and pasta are still ok with me. I can even eat some snacks and highly processed foods (because they are highly processed, is my theory).

If you have a sensitive body issue or injury, then you may be able to tell after eating if those things feel worse right away. By causing oxidative damage along the way, the radionuclides will cause and aggravate inflammation and thereby aggravate existing health problems, probably. This is what I find confirmed in myself.

If it’s indeed not in the meat yet, then once it reaches the meat (or I react to it), things will be more serious. Then it’s pressure the food producers and/or the government; and take our remedies religiously.

What food companies are going to overhaul their farming practices to keep us all (and themselves) safe?

If we can’t get clean whole food, then we will be relegated to more processed junk food diets, which is only going to cause us diabetes, metabolic syndrome, all the S.A.D. problems. So for me I feel like I’m (and others of like mind may be) forced between the high glycemic, metabolism-trashing diet, or the more highly-radioactive diet with antioxidants and phytonutrients I may not be able to feel the benefit of, because the radiation counteracts the benefits.

So now I’m planning how to get out of this no-win situation, by getting the right detox supplements, and soaking produce before I eat it.

      • Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar anne

Of course, the contamination will still be increasing in the future. But Dr. Gabriel Cousens, M.D., in his book Conscious Eating, warned years before Fukushima that meat is contaminated with radioactivity 20 times more than vegetables. I had cancer and almost died in 1989. Have been vegan since then and instead of dying, I’m still alive. In Dr. Cousens book are references to many scientific studies. There are also books by other medical doctors who have cured their own cancers by eating organic and vegan. Also, The China Study (Cornell University studies) has studies for many years showing that the animal products consumed, the less the risk for cancer.

Every individual has the right to make whatever choices they want about their diet and lifestyle. But the scientific studies can’t be glossed over. The only moral stance for counseling others is to point out the scientific studies. No one wants to be responsible for the death of another individual because of bad advice or influence.

        • GoFrodo

I’m not trying to gloss over any scientific studies. All I know is that i don’t get sick from meat (except chicken), so I take that to mean it’s not built up as much in the meat yet. That is scientifically very possible because of how the contamination moves up the food chain, starting at the bottom. And I know that I’m sensing radiation in the food, so if I’m not sick from it then to me it’s fine to eat. I get some pretty subtle symptoms, so I’m sure I’m reacting to even small levels.

Some scientific (blood-type diet) circles actually also think some people need meat for their health, too. I don’t need to get into that debate again, and I already said I heard the whole vegan schpiel (all very informative but obsessively strict), but I don’t think all meat is the devil. Balance and plenty of phytonutrients are key to good health, but even Chernobyl studies and the science say that you should eat produce that is _uncontaminated_. It’s not responsible to recommend that people eat a vegan diet at any cost. That cost can be cancer or someone’s life if their options for sustenance are limited due to global food supply limitations.

If people cannot access detox supplements or grow their own food with remediation measures, then they are forced to eat what’s in the stores. If forced between poisoned produce and cleaner meat and processed foods, the choice is easy.

Utopian health is not as easy to achieve nowadays. The bourgeoisie and upper class can afford all the diet engineering they want, under these adverse circumstances. The poor have less choice. This is how it is and life has to come before ideals.

        • GoFrodo

I personally find it offensive that you seem to ignore almost every good argument I post and then turn it around like I’m offering lethal advice. I speak reason and moderation. You preach extremes and obsessively repeat the vegan doctrines like it’s the only option and like it’s an entirely viable one anymore. Reality is not so simple nowadays.

          • Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar anne

Here’s a vegan who is 108 years old:

I’m not preaching. Everyone can die younger if they want to. I am not making arguments. I’m just pointing out the scientific studies and literature. Ultimately all this radiation is going to kill all of us. Survival skills will be practiced better by some people than others.

            • GoFrodo

Ok, now that was just thinly-veiled rudeness. Who are you kidding?

I don’t want any part of your diet evangelism anymore. I was minding my own business here, letting go of the tension of the past vegan debate, and speaking for myself for the most part. I’m even asking for and accepting advice from other members here on how to eat more produce.

But, frankly, I find your behavior trollish when you come along accusing me of offering advice that can kill people. When I go out of my way to put human life before dietary doctrine. Not to mention you insult my and others’ intelligence with your broken record attempts to school us all in veganism and the evils of meat and processed food, as if this is your 1989 and as if we don’t already know those basic concepts. Veganism cured your cancer in 1989, great. We know this, we respect this.

I’d appreciate if you either got out of your obsessive, _classist_ food pulpit (on multiple discussion threads here), or else stayed out of my conversations. I don’t go attacking you. Don’t go attacking _me_.

              • GoFrodo

Not to mention this is a radiation thread (as well as the Radiation measures thread you troll me on), not a veganism and anti-meat-and-processed-food thread. We got the point. That’s not the issue.

I don’t want to talk to you anymore.

        • Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar anne

The China Study: The Most Comprehensive Study of Nutrition Ever Conducted and the Startling Implications for Diet, Weight Loss and Long-Term Health [Hardcover]
Thomas M. Campbell II (Author), T. Colin Campbell (Author)

          “Publication Date: December 11, 2004 | ISBN-10: 1932100385 | ISBN-13: 978-1932100389 | Edition: 1
“This exhaustive presentation of the findings from the China Study conclusively demonstrates the link between nutrition and heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. Referred to as the “Grand Prix of epidemiology” by The New York Times, this study examines more than 350 variables of health and nutrition with surveys from 6,500 adults in 65 counties, representing 2,500 counties across rural China and Taiwan. While revealing that proper nutrition can have a dramatic effect on reducing and reversing these ailments as well as obesity, this text calls into question the practices of many of the current dietary programs, such as the Atkins diet, that enjoy widespread popularity in the West. The impact of the politics of nutrition and the efforts of special interest groups on the creation and dissemination of public information on nutrition are also discussed.

          “About the Author
“T. Colin Campbell, PhD, is the project director of the China-Oxford-Cornell Diet and Health Project (the China Study), a 20-year study of nutrition and health. He is a Jacob Gould Schurman Professor Emeritus of nutritional biochemistry at Cornell University. In more than 40 years of research he has received more than 70 grant-years of peer-reviewed research funding and authored more than 300 research papers. He lives in Ithaca, New York. Thomas M. Campbell II lives in Ithaca, New York.”

        • Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar anne

“The research project culminated in a 20-year partnership of Cornell University, Oxford University, and the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine, a survey of diseases and lifestyle factors in rural China and Taiwan. More commonly known as the China Study, “this project eventually produced more than 8000 statistically significant associations between various dietary factors and disease.”

“The findings? “People who ate the most animal-based foods got the most chronic disease … People who ate the most plant-based foods were the healthiest and tended to avoid chronic disease. These results could not be ignored,” said Dr. Campbell.

“In The China Study, Dr. Campbell details the connection between nutrition and heart disease, diabetes, and cancer, and also its ability to reduce or reverse the risk or effects of these deadly illnesses. The China Study also examines the source of nutritional confusion produced by powerful lobbies, government entities, and irresponsible scientists….”

        • Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar anne

“But what you need to know is this from when we all went through Chernobyl in 1986. First of all, radiation collects on grains that poultry and cows and sheep and pigs then eat. Then the radiation on the grain they eat from the air circulation concentrates in their flesh. So if you ate the grains yourself you wouldn’t get a very big radiation dose and probably would be okay. However, if you drink or eat dairy products (milk, cheese, cottage cheese kefer0 or eat anything that walks swims or flies it is just so extremely concentrated by their ingesting small amounts of radiation that you might get 100 to 1000 times the dose of just eating the grains yourselves rather than eating dairy or flesh.
“And eating fish isn’t any better. Because even if you manage to find non-radiated fish you still have to deal with the high mercury concentrations in fish. Because of this many people have had to resort to medical chelation treatments to clean their blood of mercury after eating too much fish from the ocean…..”

  • bleep_hits_blades

Thanks HoTaters for your suggestion (thoracic aneurism) and for telling us about your health problems. I doubt thoracic aneurism is my problem, but actually part of me is ready to ‘go fast’ rather than linger in this poisoned world. Talk about a ‘bummer!’

Bobby1, re greenhouse growing – well, of course, the water will have radio-nuclides too, and the air will have some also even in the greenhouse. But still it will cut down on the contamination of food grown in that protected space. Using reverse osmosis water on the crops might be worth the extra expense, depending on one’s budget.

Note – a mulch cuts down on water loss due to evaporation. (Using less water would cut down on radio-nuclides introduced by watering.) Plastic much might be better as a ‘mulch’ than organic matter as organic matter now will be tainted by the ubiquitous radio-nuclides.

It is very useful to report these health matters/symptoms as they are data/evidence.

It would be easy NOT to link these problems to the radionuclide exposure. I constantly need to remind myself that it is likely that my accelerated decline probably is related to Fukushima if not entirely caused by the radionuclide exposure.

I’ve mentioned that a 69 y.o. woman friend of mine in Anchorage, who had long been battling Lyme disease, passed away this winter. And my own mother, age 87 soon to be 88 if she lives that long, has gone into a pronounced decline, Alzheimer’s advancing rapidly, now an infected bedsore, which is expected to be fatal as it has gone into the bone.

We can’t say for sure that these deaths and increased problems are related to the radionuclide exposure, but it clearly is a possibility.

I feel quite certain that my decline is related to Fukushima, because I was in unusually good health for my age b-4 Fukushima.
However my pronounced emotional crisis certainly has to be factored in, as the ’emotional roller-coaster’ really stresses the body, I believe.

  • bleep_hits_blades

    More mucus?

Since 3/11 I have had more mucus and I am wondering if this is the body’s defensive response to the radionuclides, and if the body is trying to coat the radionuclides in mucus and use the mucus, brought up from the lungs, to expel them.

So it is probably a good idea NOT to swallow the mucus.

Are others having more mucus? Even a cold is actually a ‘healing event,’ the body trying to get rid of this excess mucus (which just rots, basically, if it remains in the body), which many of us have due to air pollution and toxins in our diet, and it is always better not to suppress the de-tox – cold, flu – with decongestants, etc. but to allow it to happen.

    • GoFrodo

I would think mucus could be from that. I usually look at it as inflammation and infection, and treat according to that. Thanks for warning us not to swallow it, even though I’m not suffering from that right now. I cleared my lungs out months ago with herbs and such.

So for me, to prevent lung problems, I always try to get that kind of thing out with herbal expectorants, antiseptics, and anti-inflammatories. Sometimes with mild things, I don’t worry, but when we get serious things like H1N1 and such, and with the new germs coming out, a lung problem can turn worse fast. So leftover mucus can cause problems when a bigger lung threat comes along later.

Not to scare anyone, but monster germs are coming down the pike, and people are going to be more vulnerable due to immune wear from radiation:

      • anne,
I posted some good video’s back to back about cows and milk about two weeks back in the General Discussion Thread forums, did you see them ?

    • blades,
There is in normal times to swallow mucus may be a good thing since tour small intestines make anti bodies to fight off disease so what passes through the body provides antibodies to fight off if it is bad, but with radiation abounding and hot particles it may not be a good idea to swallow mucus that may have wrapped itself around hot particle/s or some form of isotope that would not be good to get into your system at all !

Photo worthy for sure. The additional appendage juts out near the calf’s neck. It’s attached to the rib cage and vets say it can’t be removed.

“He doesn’t really act like it hurts at all. It’s hard for him to kind of walk sometimes, because it’s in his way,” said Lynn.

But other than that, this baby bull looks to be doing okay.
