Yeah I get what you mean! Thanks Volts!
Basically the reason I asked is because a local landfill is now accepting low level nuclear waste (they don't mention what it is specifically), and a local group against it has loads of info about it.
http://www.kingscliffewastewatchers.co.uk/#/radiation/4535054368
The company who owns the landfill site says the limit will be up to 200 Bq/gm.. Doesn't sound much but when you take it up to kilograms it is?
I think the limit for the UK is (or was post-fuki) is 500 Bq/kg for food..
Thanks!

it would be interesting if people document radionuclide readings/spikes *as well as* chemtrail sprays. we already know there is a history of spraying things (chemicals, biological agents, radionuclides…) on populations. the chem also effects where it all rains. just saying, for those who are doing readings it might be good to note if there are any correlations.

A Geiger Counter tube can suffer from saturation and go to zero until it recovers. This can happen when a large amount of radiation is detected.
If event is not a false alarm or a fault in the device, this would explain the temporary down time during the this event.
Report Comment
@vital1
When it spikes to…say 0.48 then it drops down to 0.00 until it goes back to the normal level (whatever that is in your area), do you think it is detecting a particle momentarily or is it like a small cloud or stream of particles passing by? What I mean buy 'stream' imagine a puff of cigarette smoke passing by. I know it's not cigarette smoke my geiger is detecting though because it can happen in the middle of the night and you know there is no one around outside smoking etc. I just don't know if an odd particle can raise that much of microsievert.

GlowInTheDark,
I think it is caused by a highly radioactive source passing by, in this case a radioactive cloud.
I had this happen to my Geiger Counter when I detected a radioactive cloud passing over our area. My Geiger Counter went to zero, and then recovered. You can see it in the data chart taken of the event. The big dip just before the peak.

Radioactive Tornadic Saint LouisStorms, Oct 17, 2012
“The storms which passed through this evening were radioactive @ 18 times greater than background radiation. The Fukushima Jet Stream was overhead during these storms, indicating the likely presence of long half life radioactive fallout. Testing over the next few days will determine the presence of long half life radiation and will give some indication of last week's conditions at Fukushima. If long half life radioactivity is detectable it will add to the long term build of environmental radiation.

I saw this event unfolding on Radiation Network and took lots of screen shots.
This happened over Oregon during rain, and with the Jet stream overhead.
The web cam people recorded significant events at Fukushima a few days before.
To me it had all the signs of a highly radioactive cloud passing over the area. The radiation levels went significantly up and down a few times while I was watching the event unfold. Eventually the unit disappeared off the network.
Just my opinion, and I could be wrong, equipment can malfunction.
Report Comment
I agree.
The rain. The jet stream. Oregon, Washington and California have become the front door to the fallout onslaught.
These "micro" ALERTS are going to become more and more frequent.
They will continue to be 'put off' as technical errors. But, I think many are starting to realize better.
The difficulty here is that it's almost impossible to prove that an illness was caused by a particular radioactive contamination event. 5 or 10 years from now in Eugene, Oregon many may get sick. They will never know why.
Obamacare will not be able to cover the increase in unexpected and undetermined illnesses.

These higher than high readings are on the upswing.
(fact)
If terrorists were driving around in flat bed trucks loaded with radioactive materials it could be 'like spreading' a bunch of small dirty bombs. We would never know the difference. Until suddenly the population drops to half in five or ten years. Even then they will try to blame it on Coca-Cola additives or over use of cell phones.
(speculation only)
I think the USA's radiation alert systems need a MAJOR UPGRADE. Soon!
Shouldn't every fire station, police station and medical center have detectors that are tied together and can be monitored by all.

I seem to remember quite a few 'malfunctions' with the radiation network… once would be fine but could the equipment actually be doing it's job? They can't keep explaining the high readings away while Fuki is spilling it's guts 24/7!
Report Comment
Would the high readings have anythiFir to do with this:

It says the fuel pool has caught fire at Fuki.. If it has god help l us all!

102 alert radiation network!
Report Comment
Anchorage has had a definite spike this past week or so that coincided with a weather pattern shift where we're getting a jet looping up from Japan and coming down across Alaska from the north. Fairbanks bumped a bit, too. Happily, it is cold dry air, no rain (finally). I don't have the heart to drag out the counter. At least the garden is harvested.

As far as I know, Tim has not had a reply from the station owner yet. That can easily happen. If my station started issuing alerts and I was away from the room, let alone away from home, I probably wouldn't know it. Mine runs 24/7 and is usually unattended – it just feeds data into the radiation network on its own. That's pretty common, I think.
A frequent cause of erratic station behavior is a battery nearing the end of its life. My GC came with a battery that is supposed to last 2 years, but it's a matter of luck whether I change it before it becomes unreliable.
Keep watching the Grand Rapids station by all means, but odds are it's not something that will affect any of us. The best cure for this kind of problem is to get many many more stations onto the network to help separate blips from patterns.
Report Comment
A moment after I posted that, Grand Rapids spiked again – 101 then 220 this time. Hard on the nerves, but I doubt that it's a big deal.
Report Comment
Phooey – typo – 110, not 220. I was typing in the dark and the Big Red Alert covered my reply box and I pressed Submit without reading. Sorry!

Back up to 102 in Minn. so I don't know perhaps a faulty geiger counter and if anyone living in Minnesota has a geiger counter please take a reading. Thanks in advance. Take care and no worries.

Intellicast has the jet stream, from the area of concern in Minnasota, blowing onto Canada and then back onto the northern part of New Hampshire and the southern part of Maine.
It does not look like it is going to get rained down in route.
Where is this coming from? If you look at the jet stream here:
http://www.intellicast.com/National/Wind/JetStream.aspx
This could be coming from South Dakota or even North Dakota. Or maybe someone is monkeying around with radioacive something or other in Minn. Is there military in the area?
Report Comment
That location in MN is historically on the high side. Usually around 40 or 50 from my observation.
So now it's more than 'doubled' it's usual.

There is a lot we do not know about how radiation fed into the upper atmospheres will affect things and how the different kinds and mixtures of this 'goo' will interact.
We do know it can travel to the thermosphere.
(The International Space Station has a stable orbit within the middle of the thermosphere, between 320 and 380 kilometres – 200 and 240 mi. Auroras also occur in the thermosphere.)
We do not know what may trigger the falling of these particles. Weather (sat) maps are generally at about 30,000 feet. That's where most of the weather we see takes place and where jets fly.
We do know that rain and the jet stream play a part, but there are most certainly other factors at work.
We do know that when radiation FALLOUT comes down it can be 'spotty' and 'scattered'. One part of a corn field can be contaminated and the other half not.
Also, don't forget. The initial PLUTONIUM filled fallout blasts have now circled the planet over 14 times. Accumulating and mixing into 'everything'.
I have also seen it suggested that the lack of wind may allow heavier particles to fall all at once. I am sure there are many theories about how this 'stuff' is going to be coming at us.

The 22nd 24 hour average was 0.145 uSv/hr (45%) above the 4 year average of 0.10 uSv/hr. Also, on the morning of the 22nd between 12am and 8am it was 48% above average.
A very strong Southerly came through at around 8pm last night, so I expect today's average to be lower.

We are seeing increasing day averages here in the Southern Hemisphere as we move into our summer, more air appears to flow across the equatorial air circulation boundary in summer.

@Vital1. . . Noticed the same trend this afternoon which lent credibility to me that this is a geniune alert.
Personally not convinced enough though to attribute to Japan radiation since so localized; but what would cause a rad spike unique to this region?
Staying tuned for followups.
