      Hamster,

A few years ago I WOOFED (Willing Workers on Organic Farms) just outside Bellingham, at River Farm? Know of it? One of my favorite places.

I've been hearing from people like Gundersen that the Cascades got dumped on by Fukushima and I've been wondering how the area is really doing.

A little surprisingly, your CPMs are in the same range–if not slightly lower–than what I have here in New Jersey (usually between 40 and 65 CPM outside). My location, however, is completely surrounded by NPPs, as well as being directly downwind from TMI.

Thank you for posting, and I will be sure to look for more from you.

MoonlightEmpire, I am not sure why Gundersen singles out the Cascades for being a high radiation dump area. All high elevations, including the Sierras and Rockies, are liable for this, due to orographic lift, and the consequent rain and snowfall. Maybe Arnie has some radiation data that he is not sharing with us.

        • MoonlightEmpire MoonlightEmpire

I'd say he mentioned the Cascades because that was a pertinent place to the current topic being discussed, not because he is witholding any valuable information.

He also made a statement about the wind hitting the Rockies and being a location of potentially higher fallout–due to the lift that you mentioned.

I believe that if Arnie is leaving anything out, it's because there is just way too much material to cover in quick interviews or Youtube videos. I'm sure more and more will come out as he has time for it. He's a guy just like us…he needs to eat and sleep while trying to keep up his actual business.

He doesn't have to make any videos. He has done so on his own, and is compensated for them only by the people who are have been gratefull–and able–enough to donate.

Regardless of that, nobody even has to mention every minute detail and instance for the majority of discerning people to get the point. For instance, "oh, the cascades got more fallout because they are mountains at high elevation?"–then we can deduce that ALL mountains are more probable to have higher fallout.

And, "oh, all of the tuna sampled 7 months ago contained Cesium?"–and we can deduce that ALL aquatic life in the Pacific is or will be contaminated.

There's so much more, but always so little time.

Keep up the good work, I appreciate your comment, Bobby1.

MoonlightEmpire, I'm not implying any ulterior motives on Gundersen's part. The data likely came from Kaltofen, and it's not Arnie's to give away.

That's an interesting point I hadn't considered. Thanks.

Have you noticed how many of the Main Stream Media sources, since 3/11/11, have used certain keywords like "meltdown" and "Fallout", completely out of the context of nuclear power?

I'm on the east coast and I assume some of our programming is different than other parts of the country, but it has been so obvious here. A lot of what is supposed to be "comedy bits" on commercials that show a person freaking out in a dramatic way and calling it a meltdown. Or any sort of repercussions from political blunders being described as fallout.

Not to mention the barrage of ads for cancer treatment centers. As well as all the pro-energy company poopaganda.

I believe it is a method of diluting some people's understanding of what a meltdown or fallout is, this way, when the truth of Fukushima reaches past their propaganda, people will associate meltdowns and fallout with comical, stupid, nonsensical things.

A lot of us are wise to this allready and didn't need Fuku to teach us that, but there are so many people who are not wise to it, and they are the ones who are most at risk of believing the lies.

Hope this sparks more thought. Thanks again.

Why not move if you are completely surrounded by NPP?
Why compound the bio-accumulation by absorbing and
risking living in the radius of these death dealing monsters.
        Don't be resigned. Move. .

          Sam,

haha! Of course I want to move! Want to know the bitter reality of it? I've been scared to. I don't WANT to HAVE to move…I know that I SHOULD move. I've been ready to move since two weeks after Fukushima when I FIRST heard about the plant going up in smoke (I don't watch much tv).

I can even speak enough spanish to get by just fine…

What was I afraid of? Being on my own in a totally foreign country because none of my friends or family feel the same way I do about the disaster. None of them. And no one else I've ever met in person so far.

I'm worried about trying to live a life down there with no possibility of healthcare after I get sick from the water.

Those are the major things, most of the rest I can make due with.

And I could give you a million more reasons why I SHOULD go, but if I did, nothing will be fixed. I will have just moved to a distant place to temporarily escaped the largest plumes. If I don't help the world to get rid of NPPs–safely–then I can kiss my ass goodbye no matter where on Earth it is.

So I'm staying until I'm done.

In the meantime, Japan’s plutonium stockpile—most of which is stored in France and Britain—has swelled despite Tokyo’s promise to international regulators not to produce a plutonium surplus.

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN FROM RADIATION!!

well i just did another video on radiation.. grrr
i should be working on other stuff..

will post it later when its rendered etc…

just got back in after 3 and a half hours of isotopic hell and lots of mileage in the rain on occasion…

at first i put the rises on the impending rain and thought , is the rain hot?
    radon?
because the rain came down in phases of lightness to heavy with breaks in between i was able to ascertain that the contamination for saturday night london was in the air!

also that the dust invisible isotopic particles from sizewell that are suspended high into the air came down with an almighty crash as the rain increased.. 0.75 mcSv/h (have to recheck the video to be sure)

lots and lots of peaks and the rain after an hour approx started to lower the raiation levels.. this is good for the people turning up tommorrow as long as the contaminated emmissions stop..

unfortunately her MAJ will be on a simple rowboat but hopefully has a couple of inches of lead shielding because the nearer i got to the river the higher the rads…

this means that for the next 10 + hours the radionuclides in the thames may be a health threat! oops just got another 0.42 mcSv/h peak (not loooking good for clean pure thames water hopes then?

0.75 mcSv/h?? wtf is going on at sizewell?? they burning up all japans plutonium before someone puts a stop to the practice..

sizewell village MUST have contamination problems or…

            london radiation reading

            3 june 2012
22.00 hrs to 00.00 hrs gmt

            peaks to 0.58 mcSv/h

            range from 0.10 to 0.22 mcSv/h

alot of smaller peaks to 0.42 mcSv/h

raining on and off and the rain has brought down the suspended particles in the passing clouds and washing them down to the river

average away from the river 0.16 mcSv/h
average near the river 0.18 to 0.19 mcSv/h

no let up from sizewell then?

inside average with hepa filter on
            0.13 mcSv/h with lesser peaks

            things to note

as i step outside i get a quick peak as the gieger reacts to the air pollution before it settles at the higher average..

so it is better to be inside that outside in terms of dose.. but more importantly in terms of air quality

i git a report that lots of people had coughs down by the river too! and more people i know have gad bronchitis etc…

when i saw what was happening i immediately started upping my intake of fruit juices and water
i ate a healthier diet than normal..
i got a small intermittent cough with thick white or slightly green bile when the pollution was bad but avoided the flu stuff this time. also, i avoided being outside more than normal and kept the flip front down on my motorbike helmet..

so i believe if people have warning they can minimize the health impacts of these releases.. shame its censored news huh?

still feeling a bit chesty and tired with a slight headache, likily the Pb lead :( (need more zinc in diet before next time…)
            peace

At 3:00 a bus driver made me stand out in the rain for 15 minutes. When he came back I explained about the radioactive fallout in the rain and the huge amounts of radiation faced by residents in Longmont. I don't know it he was actually all that ignorant. He was of Asian descent and surely must know something.

Good for you! Sounds like you made him think about it, at the very least, Anne. :-) It is probably all you could do for him, at that moment in time…

I find my "talks" with others don't seem to penetrate too deeply…it is as if many of them have a human defense mechanism shield that protects them from contemplating issues that really can "mess with your brain," if you think about the ramifications for the long-term health of life on Earth.

And being a person of compassion who wishes to respect others and where they are at in their lives, I don't try to force the lesson upon them. Not sure what the answer is…But it sounds like you are doing the best you can to be helpful, whether or not others are ready to hear the message.(Sounds almost evangelical. Oops! Not my intention. LOL) ;-)

Hmm…I'll have to think about that one for a bit…

Central New Jersey, Sunday, June 3, 2012.

Reading taken with Inspector Alert+ Geiger Counter at 8:00pm EST.

Approx. 1 Meter above ground, on a wooden railing that sags in one location due to water warping the wood over the years.

    Just finished raining.

    approx .290 mcSv/hour.

Then I did a 10 minute total count, and averaged 104 CPM.

its very costly to glasify instead of incinerate.. i believe the uk and france are following japans lead in this… just a suspicion mind…

sellafield has recently cancelled its glacification disoposal ideas so what are they doing now?? lots of isotopes in the air in the uk and france as well as others and the eurdep radiation system is switched off to exact data..?? coincidence??

      yuk again

today the rads dropped when it rained.. otherwise i was getting many up to 0.58 mcSv/h for the last two hours at a rate of 1 every 15 minutes or so

      range 0.13 to 0.29 mcSv/h average above 0.16 mcSv/h

      range during the rain

      0.11 to 0.13 mcSv/h with few peaks to 0.33 mcSv/h inside

winds still coming from france and spreading north and west towards ireland, wales the midland and clipping london too

      when will it end

day 9 and still waiting to hear from greenpeace.. 1 day to go!! :(
      not looking good..

nobody is interested in nuclear air pollution.. and its really bad and lots of people are coming down with irritating coughs and developing colds, flus etc

you can lead a horse to water but you cant make them drink ! eh?

      arc bangs head against wall

on the upside gieger watch uk is on the up!! 4 part time gieger watchers are passing co-oberating readings.. a slow start but a start!! there are also other resources not tied up yet.. maybe one day ;)

this morning i got some rises to 0.23 mcSv/h with some peaks to 0.42 mcSv/h but it seems to have settled for now…

getting a steady 0.13 mcSv/h with little variation from that.. will report back later

0.86 peak in a cloud measuring + 0.5 mcSv/h time to drive through about 5 minutes

average since leaving the house 2 and a half hours ago

      0.22 mcSv/h with many peaks to 0.42 mcSv/h

winds from south.. this is probably from nearer than chinon npp(i hope)!

eurdep is down and i only get an answer phone in italian now, so no eurdep at all… although i did access some data that showed rosslare getting a hit from chinon too over 24 hours on the 4th or 5 th and this hit was seen diminishing on the monitors as it headed north..
to move the irish monitors it must have been a big hit

the uk monitors are doing what they were designed to do… nothing…

theres a big question mark over hungary?? and no further word from criirad??

im gobsmacked at the extent of this europewide censoring of this info.. even greenpeace wont touch it!! ho hum!!

burning waste seems the most likely scenario.. saving money.. :(

“With the examples of radiation dose listed above, we can correlate how long it would take to experience those effects based on a hypothetical Geiger counter CPM number.

South Bend @ 30 CPM right now on radiationnetwork.com

For what it's worth, I live in South Bend, and my GC is indicating normal levels (from the mid-20s to 40s in CPM).

My theory is that the same person is submitting the readings to both of the radiation map sites that are showing high numbers, but that person's equipment or software is malfunctioning. Anne posted this link, in which somebody does seems to mention that they submit readings to both sites (or at least they did at the time it was posted): http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/radiation_detection/message/308

The person who wrote the posting at that link says:

"There are many differences between both Mineralab Radiation Map Network and
the Black Cat Radiation Map Network. I love em both, and I feed them both.

Using only one Geiger from my South Bend Station I feed both map sites at
the same time using port sharing software."

Based on this, I'm thinking that this one person's system is malfunctioning and they are submitting their information to both radiation map sites, in which case the high readings on both sites could be erroneous.

I'm hoping that this is all that is going on here. I could be wrong, but my own geiger counter right now is showing normal readings.
