That very large detection in Indiana a couple days ago. They said it was a false alarm. Except there are four different sources indicating something major had happen. Two different Geiger Counter networks detected very large radiation levels at the same time. There was a local radar signal being excited by something in the atmosphere. I saw that myself on the local radar site at the time. Also, lots of people reported they heard explosions in the area. Some also reported a Hazmat team, and helicopters in the area.

london radiation reading
it started raining and i went out for the run around town,,
range 0.11 to 0.23 mcSv/h
most of the hits were between 0.14 and 0.19 mcSv/h
there were 6 slow rises and drops to 0.23 mcSv/h
there were just 3 quick peaks 0.33, 0.37 and 0.46 mcSv/h
the 0.46 was in a shelterd tunnel and i think the particulates were collecting there having been pushed there by the rain imo…
the whole journey took 2 hrs and about 60 miles
the readings did not change if i was on top of a hill or at the bottom except for the low sheltered tunnel..
i think as these pulses came in waves and with values similar to earlier (less peaks) that the rain has had somewhat of a cleansing effect but not much…
edf are using the rain to cover there emmissions imo… they can tell the monitor staff it is radon washout (like criirad has to do) and they delete the rises, that is if the monitors spikes need to be deleted
they are still polluting the air and for a while as i was driving the areas either side of the windpipe got a slight ache again?? otherwise im ok… arc pours a glass of apple juice, breaks of some fairtrade choclate and wishes he had extract of seaweed… just wot is going on??

hi margot
you have jogged my memory on this one.. busy doing a rain test on hot rain possibly and generally making the nuke uk`s life a living hell! (i wish)
marc kaloften (i think its spelt) has studied fallout dispersal and has done a book on it i believe.. but no video info nor internet info generally on this.. you gotta buy the book..
the thing that stopped me getting it was the reference he made to smaller than 0.25 PM particulates not having an effect as they go in and out quickly,
this is nuke uks position too.. yep wade wakeford thomas etc of 100 millisievert a month fame.. no inhalation allowed..
kings collge london are currently debating this as new evidence has come to light about small particulates being able to access the bloodstream easily through the lungs… so his info is unreliable
imho.. maybe oneday he will come to enenews to straighten me out.. but that is my position on marc… very diplomatic.. but he has done a good job for the japanese antinuke cause i believe, so he has my respects.. all air fallout info seems to be blurry to say the least..
finding out is on my list of things to do, i am concentrating on ground and low level air pollution from npps and need that info! i will post any findings on this forum… if you or anyone come across any links i would appreciate a heads up!

I expected to see a lot of reports of increased radiation yesterday. When that did not happen, I thought it was because it was a weekend and reports such as yours would appear today.
I only received my Geiger counter 3 weeks ago. I have several steps to take before I can confidently report the numbers, however, the counts have matched reported numbers until yesterday.
In Portland, Oregon and all the way from Portland, Oregon to Cascade Locks, Oregon, my Geiger Counter was spiking continuously higher than 100 CPM with a maximum reading of 202 CPM. The average of the highs was around 80 CPM. The average for the day was 41 CPM. The majority of the days, the reading runs between 12 and 24 CPM. The readings remained consistent outside, inside the house and inside the car. Generally, the readings are lower inside the house and inside the car. That did not hold yesterday.
Today, the readings are continually over 70 CPM inside my living room.

Interesting. Thanks for adding in brainheart. Keep going with that new Geiger Counter.
I trust independent peoples readings over that of Radnet any day.
Getting higher than normal counts inside the house and/or car is not good. The glass on your car is fairly dense.

Thank you 'un mille fois.' Now I know why I can't access the Radnet Query Interface for SF information beyond 6/4/12. The rads surely followed the coastal jet stream in the last two weeks. They've pulled all the 'beta' data. For what purpose? To show their lack of transparency, their lapdog obeyance to higher nuclear counsels? Maybe their equipment failed again, or, this is a 'peek-a-boo' data game to annoy the hell out of people who actually care about their work.
Over time I expect the (erm) "radon" readings to be much higher, especially low level gamma energy levels. Remember that there is a two year delay (if I've got this right) in a gamma burst, AFTER an initial alpha deposition. However, what I see on your log is an increase in the background count following more beta release events from Fukushima. The fast build up in count possibly lines up with increasing worry about reactor 4's increasing heat. They need to get that 60 ton cover on quick to at least offset 'sky shine' (as some suggest) upon collapse, that would otherwise render the plant inaccessible. Pray for all the workers to get this done a.s.a.p and to reduce the hydrogen build-up in reactor 1! Otherwise, you're log is going to make history- ;( If I'm in error in my estimation, please correct me!

Hi papacares, sorry if I'm repeating myself, I did answer your question about 'neg rads' on an earlier post of yours.
Basically, there is no such thing. Average numbers are around 0.10 micro sieverts.
So no report can ever say 'negative' as there is always something.
We must push to get the numbers, not the subjective opinion. 'neg rads' should just be ignored, laughed at even.
Report Comment
thanks Richard – appreciate the word up – so it would appear the OR Dept of State Parks do not want to commit to a straight up answer – but it does sound very good to the unitiated when an as yet un-named source says it was tested and came up negative for radiation – it is almost as if one has entered the twilight zone
Report Comment
'the twilight zone' – yes, i've heard that often since 3/11
I also wanted to repeat what I had mentioned earlier ..
If someone says 'neg rads' it simply means they haven't tested and / or they do not actually know what they are talking about.
If they do actually know a real number, but still only provide a subjective answer, they are being patronizing and deserve contempt.
'below levels of concern', 'negative rads', 'no immediate threat' .. all these terms are an insult to the general community – and to those of us that know better – they speak of corruption.

not many are aware the NOAA Pacific Fleet Headquarters are located a few miles to the south of where the dock from Japan washed ashore
all the local agencies are trusting NOAA to perform the due diligence research so the pat answer is ask NOAA
to the best of my knowledge nobody is willing to submit the actual results of testing – who performed the testing – what equipment was used in testing
this could be for fear of legal recourse at some time in the future – remember there are 2 sides to legal recourse being one for warning and another for not warning so could be a catch-22

london radiation radon but low measures
the rain today was hot.. did a test on the rain and got 0.32 mcSv/h average of a rain swipe that had particulates from the weekend as well
after 1 hour dropped to 0.21 mcSv/h
is this progeny from the particulates or a slower moving wave of radon?? not sure about that.. the low level winds and rainfront are coming from france/belgium and there are 2 fronts and wind directions battling over london.. i got some lower values earlier this morning inside but outside in the rain it was much higher.. meaning rain and not air..
as the rain stopped the rad levels dropped then as the water started to evaporate the rad levels caught little clouds of 0.21 mcSv/h gaseous isotope likely radon.. the rain stopped and started..
i did a second swipe over the same area and got a lower max value showing that the weekends particulates were still active on the first dirty swipe..
interestingly the second swipe looked nearly as dirty as the first and the time between the 2 was 1 hour, showing that radioactive or non radioactive particles were in the rain as well!!
so the radon findings in the usa are interesting from a reactor or waste processing? from usa, canada or as i posited europe?
800 millisieverts/h is alot of bequerels/litre eh?
will be posting video evidence..

I use an Ekotect from Russia, it was about $400 on the *bay.
But I'm no professional, so I'm just passing on what I've experienced.
But I do trust my Ekotect, seems to be doing a good job.
Here is a link to a recent one, it sounds very inexpensive, not sure if that's a good thing.

FYI,several student groups are joining up with a project out of Seattle that incorporates students and teachers going to Japan for volunteer work with the disaster – with that intro comes this
@Sue posted this story and the info below. If you really are as disgusted as you say you are, please call the number below and let them know. This is a chance to actually do something! PLEASE CALL and let them know that many of us are aware of what is really happening in Japan.
We have to look out for these childre. Wouldn't you want someone to look out for your child? If anyone would like to contact the Kizuna Project regarding the above American/Japanese exchange programme (I think that other countries are also participating in these fully-funded programmes), please call Megan Bernard in Seattle on 206 367 2152.

The Kizuna Project is supported by UNESCO.
Megan also has email- kizuna@laurasian.org
with the help of this forum the whole world now has the opportunity to cause awareness – phone calls are great, cost prohibitive? – then email – with 5,058 members enenews should flood the Seattle office

"They will then travel 3 nights/4 days to a location in one of the areas struck by the tsunami – Miyagi, Iwate, Ibaragi, or Fukushima – and will engage in volunteer activities with community members who have been impacted by the March 11 disaster. Such activities might include doing presentations in shelters, elementary, middle or high schools, libraries, plant trees, or help clean the beaches, homes, parks, and other areas.
(These activities will not take place nor have participants pass through areas established as Restricted Zones, due to the Fukushima nuclear accident. Nor will participants engage in any activities that could in any way be construed as dangerous)"
That's reassuring, the volunteers will not enter the Holy Restriction Zone designed by the Wise Japanese Authorities in order to protect the People ! Gee, that's a good news! No danger at all!
and supported by ONU, that's reassuring as well!

Hi andii
I don't know, would like to know though.
My thought on this is: "Maybe" something did happen.
"Maybe" there were spikes, just not as high as reported?
With those high of readings, wouldn't people be falling dead some where?
I look at Geiger Counters as giving us an idea of levels, they are good at warning us when something is not right.
I don't believe they are always accurate, I do believe there are false readings. Always good to have more than one.
With those high levels, I hope there would be more independent people reporting on it.
I would not be surprised if there was an event somewhere.
I would not be surprise if there were spikes in the readings
I would be shocked/surprised if those reported extremely high readings were true.

I can no longer run gamma and beta charts at the EPA's envirofacts website.
I've noticed Alexander Higgins' charts stop at May 19.
I wasn't even able to run retrospective charts. The entire system is no longer available.
All i could do was search for specific radionuclides, e.g., cesium 137.
I used the electronic communication option at the EPA's site to ask for help. this is the response:
Thank you for your response to the Envirofacts Warehouse Website. Envirofacts is an EPA program undergoing continual research and enhancement, so your feedback is greatly appreciated.
The Envirofacts website (http://www.epa.gov/enviro/) is only a web tool that makes data from several EPA data systems available to the public via an online query format. Users specify the criteria by which multiple EPA databases are searched for environmental information. Please note that Envirofacts can only provide the information that is contained within the databases. The data retrieved through these queries are both collected and maintained by the individual program system offices.

Nuclear Event – North-America – USA
USA Severe // Nuclear Event
The Palisades nuclear power plant is shut down. Officials at the plant removed it from service due to what is being described as a "small leak" in the plant's safety injection and refueling water tank. That tank holds as much as 300-thousand gallons of water that is used remove heat from the reactor's core in the event of a coolant accident and to increase "shutdown safety margin." It's not known how long the troubled facility will remain out of service. Palisades has been ranked by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission as one of the four worst nuclear plants in the nation.

Residents Respond to New Problems at Palisades Nuclear Plant
The plant is being shutdown for the third time in recent history
+ Video
Palisades, Mich.—
Those who live near the Palisades Nuclear Power Plant near Covert are responding to the news that the plant was closed to repair a water tank leak.
FOX 17 talked to a woman who lives just about half of a mile from the plant in a cottage on the beach. She says that she wishes the plant would give her some warning before it shuts down.
"It is a little disconcerting, to all of a sudden hear a screech and see all of this stuff coming out
of the plant," says Margaret Roche, Palisades Park resident.
She says when the plant shuts down, loud steam is released from the facility.
"It's loud, the steam is very loud. Last fall when they had that mishap there it was frighteningly loud, and it was very fast."

I wonder if the large booms people heard are a kind of fracking or opening up of oil deposits by means of deep earth tomography by HAARP. It's going to keep up if they have to keep people from seeing the readings of the activity out of the HAARP facility in Alaska. The forecast of weather for this coming Saturday is for possible severe thunderstorms.

Looks like we’re getting ready for the severe weather predicted for Saturday.

Newport OR average cpm 11-14
just received delivery of radalert 100 today so immediately went
to Agate Beach to test the dock from Japan that washed ashore
the readings at the dock were
side one 10 cpm
end with bumper link 11 cpm
side two 9 cpm
from the readings above a theory is in mind that whomever tested the dock originally then decided to report the dock had negative radiation was using the background cpm level for the area as the standard and subtracted the dock cpm, if so they would then deduct a lower cpm level than background or a so-called negative radiation level
since thousands of people have come to the beach to touch and marvel at this dock it gives me peace to know it is not hot
because there are so many small children visiting the site with their parents and grandparents

london radiation update
well the rads havent changed much..
0.09 to 0.26 mcSv/h with sporradic peaks followed or before these rises to 0.26 , 0.23 etc
this morning i got a 0.08 to 0.16 with an average of 0.12 mcSv/h
this afternoon a return to the higher range average now more like 0.15 mcSv/h
sorry not to have posted sooner but the higher peaks and rises to 0.30 mcSv/h + have finished… for now.. it will be raining later and iw will be doing a video on that with a synopsis of the last few days..

I was inland and west of my normal monitoring base doing computer work on this day. I had taken my Geiger counter with me.
Radioactive cloud event detected at Glenview on the Sunshine Coast Australia, Thursday the 14th June in the afternoon starting at 3 pm the Geiger counter alarm multiple times at over 0.50 uS/Hr. The highest free air visual reading was 0.65 uS/hr. Elevated levels lasted for about three quarters of an hour. Here is the event data log chart.
http://sccc.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Glenview-radioactive-cloud-event-140612.jpg
These events would indicated a mixing is happening in the atmosphere. These small events could be happening everywhere and you wouldn't know about it unless you had a Geiger Counter with your.
My normal radiation monitoring station has be very stable lately, and I have not detected anything significant for a while. So if I hadn't been at this location, which is not that far from my normal monitoring location it wouldn't have been detected.

thanks vital1 for the readings. i think you're right on the small events that may go undetected. vortexs and eddies could swirl around unseen, unnoticed. (hyperthetical, and i'm no scientist on this).
it made me think that having two brands/models of dosimeter can help provide some benchmarking. but that's a luxury too.
there is also the radon map to consider …
http://www.arpansa.gov.au/radiationprotection/factsheets/is_RadonMap.cfm
on a local note – my dosimeter on my desk in sydney has eased back from the 0.20 μSv/h and has been around 0.15 μSv/h the last few days.

Richard,
Yes, if these small events are happening it is a concern because they would be statistically hard to detect without lot of people having Geiger Counters. Anyone, child or adult anywhere anytime could walk through this type of event and breath it in.

Food testing lab set up free guide, first draft, is now available for download.
This first draft is now available for download. Any suggestions to improve the guide are welcome. If you find a section you don't understand let me know. This means someone else probably won't. It is a work in progress, but should be enough to get those started you want to set set up a cost effective food testing lab for home, or their community.
